So I've picked my spells and my cantrips. Are they the best? Nope. Are there better choices for my class? Definitely. Will I regret this? Almost without a doubt.

Meh, I'll manage.

When casting a cantrip, is it 1d20 + Wis? I don't think I have proficiency in spell casting

your spell attack mod should be prof bonus+ ability mod for your class, your spell save DC is that +8

@Grimsvald For the sake of storytelling, should I just magically know the spells I want (see what I did there), or would your prefer it to be more accidental?

I had placed the level up where I did in the story line to account for IC reasoning. The time after the first major battle all the way to the gates of Bexely could be used to explain how our characters developed. It says that the rogue must "Learn" these arcane spells. I would suggest back pedaling maybe? Refer to moments in this time frame that you may have been reading or at least contemplating your spells to learn how they work. When you cast spells, write in a little flash back to a time where you may have learned them. Or maybe you stole a spell book from someone in the Dizzy Dwarves Tavern before you bought your arrows and you are reading it on the fly now. Flip to a page, reading it like Ikea instructions but giving it a try any ways. Try to learn it in combat. Failed rolls can be chalked up to not having enough reading material while successes can be chalked up to luck or quick learning.

When you choose arcane trickster at 3rd level you gain spellcasting. Your spells are Intelligence based. So attack spells will be Prof + Int Mod + d20 roll. Your spell DC will be Prof + Int Mod + 8.

What if Dorric wants to be utterly stupid and start attacking the docile ones in the street since he'd probably be at disadvantage shooting into a dark alley with the other characters in the way? Figure I'd still roll, but exactly how many would be in the street say within 60 feet of him right now?

@Naxtaroth there are 2 black cloaked undeaths within 60 feet of you.

There will be 1 black cloaked undeath every 30ft. 1 possesed villager or spirit every 120ft. 1 normal villager every 240ft.

@Chayliel since you rolled a 1 for initiative I will save that failed attack until after everyone elses turn.

dang, maybe throwing fire indoors wasn't a good idea. Maybe if I'm lucky, the fire will burn the corpses and cover up for me.

BTW may I use cunning action to disengage and move back (maybe into the stairs down)?

Alright so, I know that Adrora would use my action to attack and what not, but can I split my movement between the both of us? I planned on positioning her and I so that my back is to the alley and she's right up next to the 2 undead within 60 feet, that way if I shoot one and they decide to come after me, she'll get an opportunity attack on one of them.

@Redsirrah Looks like Jameak is going to sit down and make everyone sandwhiches before he attacks. Haha. It actually makes sence for Jameak. He has been very hesitent to enter a fight with these things. He even said not to kill them because he may still be able to save them, right?

@Yesman fire in doors isnt too bad. Everything in this city is mostly stone. The disengage action is only a 5ft step to remove yourself from melee range in a way that doesnt provoke an attack of opportunity from your enemy. Since they are at range you wont need to use that and the stairs are more than 5ft away. You will need a full move action to make it down the stairs.

@Naxtaroth Your pet can have its own movement equal to what ever that creatures movement would be. You may command it to attack or do more complicated actions as a bonus action (much like an offhand weapon) this means you could not attack with an offhand weapon than command it, but I think this is a fair set up.

I am a bit busy today and I'm in an immense amount of pain. I'll try to get a post up by tomorrow.

@Yesman i forgot to give you a heads up about your spells. Several of them require materials like fleece. So you wont be able to cast them without a focus in hand or materials pouch on your person or the materials on your person.

Fire bolt should only require vebal comand and a hand guesture so your fine with that. A warning about Chromatic Orb, it requires a diamond worth 50 gold to cast it. This materials cost cannot be negated by focus or pouch. You may want to consider a different spell to learn. That can always be picked up later.

Magic missile is a great choice. 3 hits and it never misses. Very hard to turn that away.

Here is a link to Minor Illusion,

Minor Illusion

In the components field S means that it requires hand movements. V means it requires verbal.

No, I'm not so sure you'd find cuts of sheeps wool at the morgue. Better chance at the magic shop, tailors or farm.

well, there goes that idea. Can I slap the zombies with Mage Hand as a distraction to run outside?

mage hand isnt supposed to be used as an attack. it can move objects. You could magic missile hitting all three of them once, or hit one of them 3 times. then run past them hoping they dont get attacks of opportunity on you...Or run into the catacomb and stealth your way around them run out and lock them down there.
