    Anima Effect:
    • At bonfire/iconic anima display, the Dawn adds half her Essence score (round up) to her base Initiative upon resetting to base after a successful decisive attack
    • For 10 motes, all of the Dawn’s combat and movement Charms with outstanding reset conditions are automatically reset. This effect can only be used once per day, becoming available again at sunrise.
    • The Dawn Caste inspires terror in her foes. She adds half her Essence score (round up) in dice to all intimidating social influence. She may also intimidate targets which do not feel fear, such as automatons, golems, and certain undead.

    Background Summary
    Ryan was born to a homestead with a modest field and modest flock. Being the second son, he tended the sheep with his trusty canine companions until he was eventually conscripted into his lord's militia. As if by fate, he managed to earn favor by saving his lord's son from an assassination attempt at the hands a visiting diplomat. His reward was being elevated as a squire to an older landed warrior. Eventually earning his place among the military elite, Ryan fought the war to its end, exalting in the field covering a retreat at the eventual fall of their lord's short-lived line. Though the war was lost, Ryan's family remains intact as refugees in Nexus, just wealthy enough to avoid the chains of the more enterprising princes of the Guild. For now, Ryan has departed his homeland to build a fighting company of his own powerful enough to stamp out the conspiracy of lords that slaughtered the rulers of Alsein and take back the lands he and his dogs once trod in his youth.

    *Born as the eldest child of the king of Nalia
    *Her family claims descent from Venus herself, supposedly the Goddess of Love walked through Creation and was taken by the people of Nalia, bestowing her favor and a child on the young king. In truth, while they do have divine blood, they are descended from Wun Ja, god the Shining Metropolis, who desired a bastion of civilization on the border to the Far East, and while Nalia is a small country, no one can claim that it does not value the trappings of civilization.
    *Though beautiful and courteous when she wanted to be, was something of a wild child with a quite the temper when roused.
    *Insisted on joining her younger brothers in the practice yard.
    *Though Nalia has traditionally had agnatic primogeniture (eldest son inherits everything), her father named her his sole heir.
    *Her father fell sick when she was 18
    *Quincel, te oldest of her brothers, and conservative elements in the local Immaculate Order forced her to flee for her life with only the family's ancestral daiklave in her possession
    *They came for her not at night, but at just as the Sun rose highest in the sky, and at that moment, the Unconquered Sun spoke to her and claimed her as his own.
    *He offered her the choice of fighting now and plunging her country into a deadly civil war, or to flee and only return when she could retake her and keep her people safe at the same time.
    *She fled down river to Great Forks where she hoped her claim to divine heritage might gain her favor with the three gods who rule there, and where her Anathema nature might not be held quite as much against her as it would in other places.

    Concept: Thorns Patriot determined to free her homeland.

    Background
    Once, Thorns was the greatest city in the Scavenger Lands.

    At least, that's how Catseye felt about it. She was raised in the city's courts, the firstborn daughter of the youngest son of a minor noble family, effectively ensuring she'd forever be close to power but never partake of it herself. Availing herself of the sages of the courts, she received a fine education in commerce and trade, in languages and the art of reading the significance in a single lifted eyebrow. By the time she reached the Age of Maturity, Catseye was already a cunning operator, trafficking in secrets and courtly intrigue. While lacking the enlightenment to wield true Sorcery, she studied the arts of thaumuturgy at the feet of a goddess her family was allied with. And by the time she was twenty, Catseye was ready to hit the road to seek her fortune.

    That was her cover story, of course. A minor noble with mercantile interests across Thorns, she was in an excellent position to visit other countries to set up trade agreements, discuss Thorns' innovations while seeing what business practices were in play in each host country. Secretly, she took detailed notes, investigated offices and books as the occasion allowed, and reported all to a conjured spirit who ferried messages back and forth to Thorns. It was an added thrill to a line of work she already enjoyed and Catseye had every intention of continuing it for the forseeable future.

    On her way back from Lookshy one day, she crossed the border into Thorns and stepped into the newly formed Shadowland. To her horror, she discovered her city had fallen, its people slaughtered and the survivors held in captivity to a Deathlord monster. Juggernaut was a thing of legends, and this legend had swallowed up her homeland. The Deathlord's soldiers came for her then and she almost surrendered to share in her people's fate. Except part of her resisted, refused the easy way out. Catseye fled on foot, into the surrounding forests only to come across the ghosts of Thorns' ancestors, most of whom were enslaved by the Mask as well. They wanted to turn her over to the Mask in hopes of eased restrictions. With confidence and conviction, the young woman spoke passionately about the need for the living to carry on to ensure a future for the dead. In the end, she struck a deal that they would smuggle her out of the border so long as she made regular offerings and eventually returned to free them.

    When she and they agreed, the Lion of Meru Resplendent rose in iconic form and sealed their bargain.

    In the years since, Catseye has been on the run, evading the Wyld Hunt while trying to build a base of power to free her people. Sorcery at last made sense to her and she's become an expert Sorcerer, wise in the lore of spirits and demons, able to bind those she can and negotiate with those she can't. Needing to stay mobile, she settled into an arrangement of mutual convenience with an Outcaste Water Aspect ship captain who traded passage and a cut of the ship's profits in exchange for all the demonic and elemental aid a Dragon-Blooded might need. Catseye has already met with and begun negotiations with a variety of City Fathers and local powers but an Exalt as young as her doesn't wield the power yet to convince or compel their aid.

    So she studies, trains and cultivates her power...while keeping a lookout for others like her.
