Nope. I just did the following when I see people BBCoding on my first RP:
1. Google
2. Spend some hours trying to understand the meanings of brackets.
3. become proud after trying to put up a floating image.
4. Rinse and repeat day after day until I finally understand how to... color.

Here's how I know to check
If you press shift + 2 and you get an @ it's American
If it's " it's British
