Avatar: Tales of the Hundred Year War

"Damn and i though you pick to rest. Show me what happens when you offer." He said in a joking disappointment as he got of the ostrich horse and stroked its head as he tied it up before following Era to the camp. He reached the guards who stood like statues in their armor infront of the camp gate. An intemedating look in their faces." Well, good evening... eh, we like to speak to your leader... we have some intelligence we need to pass on."

The men rolled their eyes, the only one who looked like they could be in the military was Yao. Era pulled out the letter, "We have something really important that needs to be discussed, the fire nation knows." One man looked to the other and nodded, at the nod he left what Era guessed was to get the leader. The leader came out, two guards and the one that left where behind him.

"Now, what is it you have?" He asked, looking down at the two teenagers. Era handed him the letters. "Follow me."

"How did you come by this letters?" The leader asked as he walked and looked through the letters. He turned a looked at both of them with a critical eye. Yao sensed the leader looked down at the two of them not due to age but by class.

"We noticed a fire hawk delivering them to the mayor of the village." Yao considered his words carefully not wanting to give the leader any reason to doubt them or the letter."Curious we looked into it. We... Came across the mayor talk about the letters to another privately. We thought it was our duty to report it."

"You stole the letters?"

"Well... Yeah but what's intelligence gathering without some stealing..."

"Hmm... Would have been better if we caught the mayor with the letters." The leader noted without expanding. Yao heart sank as he wondered whether stealing the letters ruined the validity of the letters.

"No one there would have believed us, we came up to tell you guys because there is now two days to stop it." Era stated, she looked to Yao before looking back at the man. "We have family up in the front, we're worried that if we didn't give it to you they would be gone."

"I will bring it to the attention of the general beyond that it is no longer your concern." The man said after a moment of thought, he waived over the two guards and pointed the two teenagers. "I thank you two both for for your service to the earth kingdom. Now follow the guards out."

"What are you going...." Yao went to ask before being interrupted.

"Leave. Now."

Era sighed, shoving off the soldiers before she started walking with Yao. "Lets go rest, we did what we could." She grumped. She looked to Yao, "Sorry we found nothing on our brothers."

He frowned his disappointment before shrugging."Yeah lets hope these people do their job."He said before looking at the tavern and smirked."There is still change, more then one way to get to a moo-sow tit. Lets have some supper, my treat."

He stepped inside the tavern and was instantly hit by smoky smell from the food cooking. It was warm and inviting despite it being a little dingy and backed to the brim with both civilians and soldiers on pass."Try looking if anyone from out brothers unit is here."

"How is it your treat when we share the money?" She asked with a rose brow and sighed before following him. "I've only met HaiShin, and I heard he died." She said looking around for the unit crest. "Was it four rocks or three?"

"I could do the physical action of paying.....Why must you question it? Just enjoy the sentiment behind the offer." He said before shaking his head. He found a table and drew a seat for Era to sit down, before thinking of the emblem." Three. Triangles in a triangle on a green filled circle as i recall."

Era rolled her eyes before sitting down. She looked for the triangles before sighing. "Maybe someone will walk in." She pushed her hair back. A group of young soldiers came in, she tried to catch the emblems.

"You welcome."He muttered as he helped her push her seat in before going for his own. He noted the group of soldiers coming in as well, he almost got excited but the look of the soldiers made him feel crestfallen."They are from our unit but look at them there new recruits, most of them are near our age.."He sighed and shook his head."We are getting desperate."

Era looked them over, sighing. "Are they from our village?" She asked, tilting to get a look. Her heart weakened, watching them. They where young. It bothered her.

"I don't recognize them, though I don't know everyone..."He said before going quite for a minute, he exhaled before standing up again."Cant heard to pick their brains though, give me a minute." He walked to them and began chatting them, it first started as a series of jokes and confidence booster before the conversation got more serious. A few minutes later he pointed back to Era and used her as an excuse to break of the conversation. They gave him a few lurid comments about Era and how he was lucky before letting him off.

"Still got it. "He said trying to sound confident. "They are from the next village over. I might have good news, one of them wasn't a recruit but an officer. He didn't know our boys but what he did know is when 9 out of 10 times a soldier is marked MIA it because he is captured."

Era sat up, smiling. That gave hope. "Great, so someone will go after them. Right?" She asked, choosing to ignore what she heard them say about her. She must be honest, wasn't the first time she had to pretend to be his girlfriend. Silence suddenly entered the pub as everyone turned to see a Water Tribe girl, around their age, walk in. Era blinked, she never met a Water Bender.

Aquita sat in the back, ignoring all the looks she was gathering. She looked tired, because she was. It was rather hard to ride an Ox all the way from the South Pole. She wasn't even use to the heat yet.

"Well... They start advancing against the fire nation..." He went to say not really keen on giving her the bad news that it is likely the prisoners are there for the duration of the war. Wasn't to happy about the fact himself let alone her. The water tribe coming in proved a good detraction to the fact, he looked at the girl only knowing about water tribes from traveler stories and news." She cute, old man Chu wasn't laying about the water tribe girls. I wonder what she is doing all the way here."

It took all Era had not to kick his leg. She wasn't sure why she had such a source of jealousy anyways. "She's about our age," Era said looking over at the girl who seemed to be alone. Era got up, walking over to Aquita and offering to have her sit with them. With a smile Aquita walked over Era and Yao. "Aquita, meet Yao. Yao, this is Aquita she is from the Southern Water Tribe."

"Hello," Aquita said with a small smile.

(I sense a potential love triangle.

"Hi ... Eh...welcome to our neck of the woods."He said smilling back at her as he brought a chair for her to seat with them."There...Hope you comfortable... Eh. I hope it is not too warm for you. Were are you from North or south?"

Era sat next to him, crossing her arms over her small body. "I just said South, Yao." She looked over at him, rolling her eyes when she noted how nervous he was. She was trying not to twitch because chances are Yao was going to get hurt.

Aquita chuckled, Yao seemed nervous and Era seemed a bit jealous about it. "Are you two a couple?" Water Benders usually had a good sense of ones emotions and at least Era had deeper emotions than she would admit. Though, her eyes went wide at the accusation.

"No, we been friends sense we could walk."

"You did? Sorry , Era."He replied slightly embarrassed at his guff. He cleared his throat, trying to get over his childish crush mode and get to his usual character. He turned to Aquita and nodded at what Era said."We are neighbors in a village west of here going east after the fire nation attacked. We are going to either Bi Sing Se which is preferable or Omashu."

Aquita nodded, "Omashu would be the easiest to get into with so many people going to Bi Sing Se. Prince Boomie has done well on the security there." Aquita said, "I heard it from a few Earth Kingdom soldiers that passed my village, something about seeing the other part of the world to sneak on the Fire Nation." Aquita was pretty sure the earth was flat. Era just listened.

"Yao, I think we should still go to Bi Sing Se where our family went. They are already worrying over us." He had a pretty good idea what would be best so she left it to him.

"King Boomie." He corrected Aquite casually before frowning, not liking being made the decision maker. Aquita argument for Omashu made sense it would be easier to go there rather then Bi Sing Se. However, they both had family in the capital and he knew Era wouldnt be happy with him if he said Omashu. He turned to Era."We could go to Omasu and just go toBi Sing Se after but we dont know what is going to happen in this war. If the fire nation attacks or blocks the road or whatever, we will be stuck for the duration. Bi Sing Se remains the plan for us two, we are leaving tomorrow."

Era went to make an excited squeal, considering she would just rather go straight to Bi Sing Se but she kept her cool. "Alright, if you say so." She said with a sigh. She finally looked at the food that got placed in front of them and sighed, she wasn't so hungry anymore.

"If you don't mind I would love to accompany you, I am heading to the Northern Water Tribe so I can go with you most of the way. Three is better than one or two against the hotmans, no?" Aquita asked, waiting for an answer.

"I am glad you excited,Era."He said giving her a knowing look, he knew her well enough to know when she was happy. He then turned back to Aquita finding himself smile that she wanted to come with. "I have no problem with it if Era doesn't." He stuck in to his meal, remembering his was famished.
