"Jiao, we're not thinking that." Era commented simply as Aquita passed out the food.


"You must have been traveling for a while now." Aquita stated before sitting beside the new member of the group.

" A few months maybe... Though i have lived in the colonies for most of my life live with my uncle who was a governor." Jiao replied refusing the food for the moment. " I will have mine later. Got to see some cooperation between fire and earth people, could scarecly see the difference at times. It was..."He paused and sighed." Of course...it wasnt perfect with your standard animosity from both sides."

Era nodded, she knew how it felt to feel different. With little to no Earth Benders in the village, and the only child Bender, she was use to feeling out of place unless with Yao. Aquita nodded, beginning her eating, "I visited a colony a little bit." She said.

Yao noted Era, reaction to Jiao comment and surmised what it was for. Despite being with a loving people, she was treated differently unsure of how to deal with her abilities. Worse still when the war was nearing them and fear came how they will be treated if there was an earthbender in their midst. Even he found her intimidating early on in their relationship feeling awkward around her. He smiled and placed his arm around her comfortingly.


"Quite the culture mix wasnt it?" Jiao replied to Aquita."Yet filled with tension."

Era looked up at Yao, of course he would comfort her like he read her mind. He tended to always do that. She smiled softly, it wasn't like she didn't understand all the fear. The only Benders where her grandfather's age and they all believed it would be last generation until she was born and shown signs she could bend.


Aquita nodded, "I never seen so much segregation." She sighed, it was... rather sad to watch. Honestly, the earth people where treated like dirt compared to the fire people. Even so, she knew he was different.

"You dont see it but unrest is rampart at some parts. With freedom fighters and activist trying" Jiao mentioned. "At that point, paranoia set in among the fire people, you dont know who to trust with some earth people acting nice to you... Made a mistake myself.."He said with a sigh.

Aquita placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, the worst thing someone could do is betray a friendship. She knew that from experience. She gave just a small smile, "You should eat and rest. I can take first watch. Era and Yao took watch last night."

Jiao smiled at her and nodded. "Thank you, my lady. If you would excuse me, i will eat at my tent if any one needs me. Will relieve you in a couple of hours. " He said standing up and entering his tent facing the back wall. He removed his mask putting it next to him but kept his hood on and eat on his own.


"Thats settles it then."Jao said before turning to Era."We should rest as well."

Era stood and stretched, "Yeah, we should probably get an early move on. Good night, Aquita." She kissed Yao's cheek, "Good night, Yao." She grabbed her sleeping bag and took a tent. Aquita just went to lean against the log she used as a seat. "Good night."

"Good night, guys."He said as he got up as well, trying to think of a way to ask the thing that was in his mind to Era. "Era...If you need a bed warmer... You know who to ask. I can extend my service to... human warmer..."

Era chuckled, she understood what he meant. "Alright, come on." It was actually a cold night for the most part.

Jao smiled at her as he approached her and gave her quick peck. "Thanks."He said simply before entering the tent and waited for Era. Jiao smirked as he overheard the two of them putting his mask on and steeping out of his own tent. HE walked over and sat down next to Aquita."I am not tired,"

Era followed, smiling. She helped make the bed and got inside. "Thanks."


Aquita looked up, pulling her coat close. "Did you eat Well?" She asked, figuring he only wished to do that in private.

"No problem."Yao said with a smile as he got inside as well. At first it was awkward laying with her not wanting to cause a trouble with his position on the bed. He tried moving a bit closes to her and but an arm around her. "Is that.. is that alright?"


"Yes, thank you. A fine camping meal... Amazing what one could do without a proper kitchen."Jiao said trying to make conversation. "Never would have though one could cook like that a year ago.. I guess you water tribe live like that dialy."

Era chuckled and turned to cuddle into him. "Yes your fine. We were closer than this we slept in a barn during the winter."


"Yes, we do. It's amazing." She chuckled, "We can cook many things this way."

"We were kids then, hardly the same situation now..." He tried to defend himself before chuckling as it didnt matter in the end. He moved to accept the cuddle and return in kind adding a kiss. " This is also a lot nicer too. Glad you are comfortable, love."


"I am really showing my noble roots am i? " Jiao said." I wont mind learning a few things like that. Water nation cuisine well, much of the culture is unknown to me. I am curious."

Era looked up at him, "It was a year ago, and your right. I am very comfortabl." She returned the kiss.


Aquita smiled, "I will teach you through our travels." She promised.

"Huh... What event was i thinking of..." Yao though for a moment before she kissed him back. He smirked and just went quite enjoy the feel of each other, soon closing his eyes.


" It wount be any trouble. I would enjoy that." Jiao said appreciatively."

Era soon fell asleep, cozy up to the boy she been loving for a long time.


Aquita nodded, she turned to him andsmiled. "Thank you for sitting with me."

"It's my pleasure, Lady Aquita. I am glad for the company as well." Jiao replied as he turned to look at her."I am smilling at you right now, just for your information. I am looking forward to travels."

Aquita smiled, wishing the mask wouldn't hide a smile. She was happy to know at least he would smile. "A journey to be made."

"You... You have a nice smile, lady Aquita... " He said before trailing of and looking ahead being thankfully of the mask. "If you like you can gain a moment of rest... I doint require any rest yet..."

Aquita blushed some, "Thank you, Jiao. It makes me wish I could see yours." She understood Why though maybe if he trusted her she could see. "I don't need rest yet."

"Its nothing to compare to others let alone yours... A charred mess of muscle and teeth... Very word causes a little bit of pain..." He said with some irritation still looking away before letting out sigh." I apologize for the unpleasant mental image. I should be winning like this."

Aquita put her hand on his, she was still blushing. "No, I understand, I have a burn mark on my back from when I was young. Of course it isn't as bad as yours but I understand how it feels to think there is something someone won't like of you." She closed her eyes and moved the mask to only kiss his cheek. She placed it back to open her eyes. "All it takes is the hardest things... Trust and a strong friendship... Sometimes those don't even help but you should know I may not know you but I hope to get to know you and same for the two earth children."
