Aquita blushed slightly, "I will never look unless you want." With that she dropped the subject, she understood and she will not bring it up again. She looked to the fire dancing slightly, she smiled softly. "Fire isn't always destruction, it can't be." She was thinking of everything they been through. Era and Yao with their village and with the attacks on her own village... Even Jiao got attacked. She sighed, "Its beautiful if used the correct way."

"Its true though my master didnt see the beauty." He said looking at the fire and with slight movement of his hands, the fire flickered and removing a small part of it and moved it about. " He never liked fire-bending wishing he had something like water bending. He said fire is a burdened, a living breathing thing which only function is to consume unless controlled. Requires discipline control it."

Aquita couldn't deny about that. Fight fire with fire only causes more fire. "It does require control. Just the right way." She said, she only hoped the Avatar will be free soon. They can not keep fighting on their own.

She looked to him, "How do you control yours? Your not an angry man."

"Doesnt have to an emotion, any sort of drive of the benders could be used as a source." He said thoughtfully. " I have the good old drive to end the war and improve the fire nation image. Consider the impossibility of the task, this is going to be my permanent source of power. How about water bending, i understand there is a flow of movement but not much else. "

"Well, just like fire if used incorrectly it could be harsh." She took water out of her cantine and made it dance. "I was once told it could be used for healing but I never tried it."

"Healing, that sound like a wonderful ability to have."He said looking with more then a little wonder at her bending." Too much of bending is used for fighting its nice to see it in a more helpful application. Why havent you tried it though?"

"They took the last waterbender. I had no one to teach me. I was only learning when we were attacked." She explained. "I wish to learn."

"Hence your own journey, i understand." He said nodding. "Maybe we will find something in our travels, "traders" sometimes sells water tribe artifacts. We might find some information on water bender techniques."

Aquita smiled, that made her happy hearing that he cared. "You're a good man and I am honored to be your Conrad."

"Likewise, lady Aquita." He said looking back at her before he yawned loudly."Oh... Oh my... I am going to go catch some sleep. Wake me up when you feel tired, anytime." He stood and bowed his head at her." Good night."

She nodded, letting him sleep as she relaxed by the fire.

Yao woke up in the crack of dawn, the first light hitting hitting his eyes from the tent opening. He felt a minor annoyance which quickly passed with the feeling of Era in his arms. He smiled giving her a quick kiss on her forehead.


Jiao awakening was less than pleasant, wakening to the pain from his burns the soothing effect of the poultice long since passed. He groaned awake as he removed his mask to reapply the poultice.Too sleepy to make an effort to hide his face from onlookers.

 

[Mae Renea]

Era slept well, she woke feeling soft lips on her forehead. She fluttered her eyes to look at him. "Morning." She said to him, sitting up. She was happy to wake up to him. It was warm and loving.


Aquita stayed up all night and when morning came she made breakfast. She walked to Jiao's tent and placed the food at the end. She could see the mask was off but not his face. She stood back up and turned to the food.

"Morning, beautiful. "Era said reluctantly sitting up from the sleeping bag and smiled lovingly at her. "Must we get up, cant we stay in bed a little more?"


"Thanks, aquita."Jiao said taking the bowl offered by her and eat a little bit of it not feeling a particularly hungry. He put his mask on and stepped out of the tents taking a deep breath before doing some exercises, practicing some fighting forms. He took a look At Aquita and felt a little guilty." Did you get any sleep last night?"

 

[Mae Renea]

Era chuckled, "Don't we have a place to get to?" She would stay in bed with him all day if she could.


Aquita shook her head, "I couldn't." She admitted before taking a bite of her food. "I don't mean to worry or upset you over it."

"It can wait another hour." He said placing his arm around her and kissed her. "Our other companions will have fun gossiping about us."


"You havent upset me but i am afraid its a bit late for not worry." He said stopping his exercise and approaching her, knelling down to her level. "What is wrong?"

Era smiled, kissing him back. "We already act like we been together for a bit." She leaned against him. "I'm not as tough as I seem, huh?"


Aquita shook her head, "Nothing. I get to thinking and I can't stop." She admitted quietly.

"A few dozen fire nation soldiers beg to differ and i believe more in the future would beg to differ." He said with a chuckle."In any case dont worry the fact of your lack of toughness would our little secret. I will admit you boss me around and everything."


Jiao sat next to her." Ok obvious follow up question is what are you thinking about?"

Era chuckled, "I do not." She kissed him softly. "I don't mind you knowing I am soft."


Aquita chuckled, he really did care. "Will we make a difference?" She sighed, "I don't mean to worry."

"Dont worry about my worrying... " Jiao said leading out a small chuckle at the choice words before his tone made more serious." Honestly... I dont know if we will the only we do know is to try. In the end it doesnt matter, what scenario do you prefer: that you tried to make a difference but couldnt or do nothing and wonder if you could have made a difference? I dont know about you but i am for the former since even if you fail you still do some good along the way and it maybe making a difference enough for a few people."


"And i am happy to be privy to your secret." He said holding her tightly for a little bit before looking out the tend. He sighed." Crap... Damn my sense of responsibility.. I suppose we should keep the newbies waiting."

Aquita looked up at him, pushing her hair back. "Of course you're right." It was sweet of him to worry for her though. "Well, after we get everything ready it won't be long until we get to the next city."


Era chuckled, "You don't have a selfish bone in your body." She moved out of his arms and walked out to put the tents down.
