Futuristic ARK: Survival of the Fittest (Closed)

Morning found no engrams or points, but Anna's hand, being properly set, having healed. They could hear parasaurs braying outside at dawn, the closest to an alarm clock they'd seen in a while.

"Morning," Jack yawned and rolled over to set up on the edge of the bed, "Is it morning?" He glanced to the door to see daylight filtering through cracks in the wood. "Aw." He was comfortable. "Guess we gotta get up."

"Hmm," Anna shiften in her sleep and yawned partially awake, looking up at Roan's sleeping face, and smiled. This was how it should have been. Peaceful, not angry.

Vera smiled, "We can make a better home. Thats good. Right?"

Roan stirred a bit, burying his face on Anna's shoulder, "Sleep..."

"I'll build whatever you want," Jack smiled, leaning over to kiss her on the forehead. "I'll get started on breakfast and feed the animals, is there anything special you want?"

Anna smiled, "Alright." She cupped Roan's head in her hand and held him close as she pulled the cover up tighter over them.

"Built, or to eat?" She asked as she got up.

Roan groaned softly holding Anna a little tighter as he fell back asleep.

"To eat," Jack chuckled, "I'll make a table so we can plan our house." He smiled and looked through his inventory briefly, "I can take the stego and go get some berries for mash, if you like?"

"That sounds good. A good start to the day, " Vera nodded, "Lets do it. "

Jack smiled, "I'll get started," he left the hut to go find the stego and get to work. He came back after a bit with the stego filled with berries and thatch, "You're never gonna believe this!" The thing was almost encumbered after just a few minutes!

"What is it?" Vera asked as she stepped outside, "Its good at collecting? Collecting what?"

"Berries, thatch, and wood," Jack smiled, "The plates change position, and that affects what it collects." He whistled, and the plates on the tek stego's back went through three different phases. He got down off of the robot's back and settled to begin working berries into mash, "It just collects everything!"

"Thats amazing. And efficient.." Vera said, "Who needs anything else?"

Jack shrugged, "We still need something for stone, and then flint and metal." He looked up at her and smiled, "I bet once I build our boat, that we'll be able to find all kinds of stuff."

"It will be easy to find stuff. That's for sure." Vera nodded, "do we want to build wood for now? Since we are on a lone island safe from anything that wants to eat us."

Jack was quiet for a moment as he scooped berry mash out for the two of them, "Well, without Rocky, it's going to be hard to get enough stone for a stone structure... and really I can't see stone being very buoyant for a houseboat." He shook his head, "Unless you want us to live on land?"

"I think its a good idea to have a land base as well as a boat house." She said after a moment of thought, "You know, so we have something to come back to."

Jack looked confused for a moment, "A boat house is where the boat goes," he frowned, "A houseboat is the boat that's a house." He shook his head, "Words are weird."

"You know what I meant," she said with a glare that read, 'really?' She sighed and ate, "Point is it would be a good idea for both."

"I'm sorry," Jack said quickly, before shaking his head, "Well, I'll put some tables down so we can work on that design." They had plenty of raw metal on the island, anyway.

"Besides, a home base would be good to clear our inventories and keep the boat light," Vera added.

Jack nodded as he put a wide table down and laid paper over the surface. "Well, here's an idea, what if we incorporate the boat house and houseboat?" He sketched out a building that had the main amenities of home on the first and second floor, with a covered dock where a boathouse could pull in "A nice house, and if we ever want to go somewhere, we can take our comfortable houseboat with us!"

Jack looked surprised for a moment, "Wait, seriously?" He looked like he expected her to have other ideas, or maybe a complaint.

"Though, I think it may be a better idea to live on the beach if we do that," Vera nodded, "But it's a good idea. "

In order to build that thing they'd need to be on the beach, anyway. "Alright then," Jack smiled "How do you feel about a rooftop garden?"
