Fantasy A Time of Kings

(@Foxgirl Jay whoa whoa whoa, who said he dropped his sword? He had it in his hand, to keep his arm around the soldiers neck. Also, he was using the guy as a meat shield to deflect the front attacks. He was using him because he knew that, at that range, he'd be shredded. It's common sense.)

(All of the soldiers are in formation. You would have to get in to the formation to grab someone out. You vague description was vague. Being aware and describing positioning is important. You did not state that Yaro 'pulled the soldier away' which would make him safer, or that you would 'turn the soldier around' so you can hold him, as you describe later in this OOC post. That leads to the assumption based off very vague details, that he would grab his neck, with his hand similar to trying to 'choke'. Simply 'holding someone' in front of you is ineffective if you have both sword and spear on either side of you.)

@Foxgirl Jay I am sorry. I will re-read it and correct it (if it's allowed.) and fix it so it's clearer. You've made a lot of concessions for me, and I appreciate that. I'll understand if you want me to leave the roleplay, but if not, I'll fix it so it makes more sense.)

( I don't want anybody to feel unwelcome, or that I want them to leave.

Your character's been injured, but all wounds heal. Let that be a learning lesson for him, and yourself. It's not meant to 'punish' you, after all, it's the first fight in a role play. But the combat will be punishing to characters. It'll not be easy for the most part. Characters will be hurt, it's inevitable after all, in their life choice of adventuring and heroism. There's nothing that needs to be changed, any more. It happened, and let it happen.

So what if Yaro's been stabbed a bunch? He's shown that he can after all, heal himself through magic. )

(@Foxgirl Jay It's not me feeling unwelcome, I'm just worried I'd slow this roleplay down. But I did have an Idea for what to happen, should this happen)

Yaro felt himself fall to the ground, his wounds beginning to overtake him. He held himself there, and for the first time in a long while, felt......cold. Was he going to die here? He gave up everything to have this cheance, he couldn't allow these human beings to take it away from him! Soon, Yaro felt.....like he was burning. He then saw his body was on fire. Not with normal flames.....these flames were bright red instead of orange and black. This was the flame of rage!

Yaro, weakly standing up, flung the fire towards several of the soldiers, lighting them aflame. This was it though, as this sapped the last of his energy, before Yaro collapsed to the ground again. Yaro then had his eyes open, as he saw Robin was fighting....to protect him. This didn't make any sense. She fought to save him now? He spoke just loud enough to hear, trying to raise himself from the ground. "Why......you fight to save me now....but why not when I was alive......somethings.....wrong..."Yaro said, falling unconscious.

Robin grimaces, and saves her words. She knows that he wouldn't hear what she said anyways. "You're alive enough for me." Is all she'll whisper to herself. The enemy soldiers are fighting in a retreat... but they cannot hold. Robin's contribution is a few light flares of fire to force her opponent off guard, and a pair of quick sweeps of her longsword. They find gaps in the armor, and take her enemy's in the neck. A quick death. Kirk downs his own enemy, in a longer, less flashy, but far safer melee. The reinforcing garrison soldiers finish the fight for them. The enemy is put to rout over-ran and killed.

All said and done, the fighting for Robin was easy. But for her old comrade... it was nearly fatal. She stows her sword, and walks to Yaro. "Are you... awake?" She calls to him, a serious look about her face.

Sorry 'bout the long wait... Like I said, took a break from this and then I got busy >3<

Yaro opened one eye, holding his head. Since he used his rage to fuel his fire enough to attack, his head was a bit.....clearer. Adding that, to her reaction to what he said, to the fact that she called him a liar, and the fact that she risked her life to save him.......there was no doubt in his mind: Someone set her up for the fall. IT wouldn't take much for people to realize he was crying, obviously ashamed. "It wasn't you....."Yaro said, before sitting up sharply, not caring that his wounds were still burning, and hugged her. "I'm sorry.....I'm so sorry.....I don't know who, but It couldn't have been you.....you're still the same Robin....."He said, holding her as if his life depended on it......which, in his condition, it probably did.

Across the river from Caed Nua, just northeast of Stormwall Gorge, a lone figure shrouded in black traverses expertly through the dark forest, bobbing between trees and hopping over rocks and fallen logs. Their movements were swift, if not a little clumsy, and it was clear they have been to this area numerous times before. They stopped, however, after reaching a clearing south of Loghome, a small village by the river, not daring to walk past the safety of the shaded woods. Drawing back their hood, the eerily dark, curious eyes of a young woman shined in the moonlight while silver hair swayed lightly against her cheeks.

"There's been a fire," she spoke, though no one else was around. "A small one, it seems."

She breathed a sigh of relief as she leaned against her wooden staff, glad someone had not set the trees ablaze. She did not mettle with the affairs of the surrounding towns, villages, or whatnot.

Aye, looks t'be put out already, she heard, glancing at the many faces carved into the large branch she clutched so tightly. Could be worth checkin' out, though... Don't 'cha wanna see what all the commotion's 'bout, Ava?

Ava shook her head slowly, though did not turn away from the thin smoke cloud rising from Caed Nua. The spirits had whispered of a rising tyrant in the west, and the numerous attacks on settlements that could be linked back to them, and she could only wonder what would become of her such a thing were true.

Jonathan was unaware yet that the battle was now under control, and so after reloading his crossbow with sweaty, tense hands and a heart beating in anticipation he looks up out of his sniper spot. Though from the window it was now clear: They had been saved, the regiment was in control. He was an average shot with the crossbow, really. And unlike the group of enemies previously, and would there have been any enemies left he couldn't just fire in their general direction this time. In fact, he'd likely hit a friendly. And so, with the tension down and wet, cold sweat on his forehead he drops himself against the wall to the side of the window, and takes the bolt off of his crossbow.

He takes a moment to take a breath and wipe the sweat off of his forehead before looking out of the window again to better assess the situation. With a bit of luck, he could locate Robin or other members of the party. After all, without them there wasn't going to be much of an adventure. Spotting them on the battlefield in a state of peril he takes his crossbow and hastes down the stairs as fast as he can manage with his pudgy and small-legged frame. Though even rushing down the stairs quickly results in him panting. Just a bit of legwork after that he finally arrives at the scene where Robin is tending to Yaro. He lays down his bow and asks completely out of breath "A-.. Are you... Alright? W-what's... H-... How is... He?". He readjusts his tabot to catch some air, though by now his face was a glowing red.

Robin half-heartedly returns the hug with a single arm, to keep Yaro sitting up. Her irritation at him hadn't entirely gone yet. "It took you nearly dying a second time for you to believe me." She says quietly, but there's clearly a growl to her voice. Frustration, and being upset. "I shouldn't have needed to tell you so much, and I can't stand people who call me a liar without reason."

"I'm fine. There are others who are not. We need to tend to anyone who's wounded... I think the worst is him." She says, nodding at Yaro. Robin stands, picking him up. "I'm taking him inside. Try to find a healer or someone who can patch wounds?" She asks of Jonathan. He looked completely unharmed; the same as Robin, but much more exhausted. Robin wonders what battle he'd fought.

"Normal healing magic won't work, it'll kill me.......This is going to sound crazy, but I need you to find a Necromancer. "Yaro said, forcing himself to sitting in a chair. "I am a Revenent, resurrected by foul magic. I may have killed him, but that doesn't change the fact that I can only be healed by black magic. "Yaro said, before placing a hand on his side. He was bleeding. "I can't use my magic, I used most of it during the fight. If you can find someone that practices the dark arts, that'd be welcome. "Yaro said. Considering he was a Risen dead, it only made sense.

Yaro then looked over towards Robin, before sitting on his arms. "Look, I know you had nothing to do with it, but I need to ask....what the hell happened in Zaterra? I told Riordan to call for you and the rest to reinforce the main-gate. Did something happen?" He asked. Obviously, he was hoping there was something that could explain why she wasn't there to help him when he needed it.

"He told me the city was lost, and that you told me to leave." Robin says with a frown. "Now stop talking and let me fix you." Robin commands with a focused expression. "I know enough about the undead... and enough about magic to know this isn't dark magic. She casts a few spells on him. Inflict minor Wounds, a spell of negative energy. Normally Robin just uses the spell to hurt an enemy, make wounds a wound or two appear on their body, as if caused by a sword. But on the undead, it repairs their body. She's quite reserved with her magical ability, preferring to keep it for times of need.

Yaro looked as his wounds began healing, and felt relieved, but was again confused. "Thanks, but I know can't be right. His orders were to tell you to reinforce the gate. Hell, I thought he died, because he was no-were to be found when the wall fell. "Yaro said. "Wait.....Robin, what happened to him? did he tell you where he went?" he asked her.

Robin shakes her head softly. She keeps casting the minor spell, to fix up all his wounds. Her hand hovers over Yaro's chest. "No, he didn't. I never cared much for the priest... we parted in different ways." Robin had an idea of what happened now. But she can't figure out why the priest would have made such a deadly lie. She sighs, her shoulders slumping. Adrenaline wearing off but she still felt fine. Her role in the battle was minor. She drops him on a bed, in the inn.

"Rest. I still have other things to do." Robin says, leaving him alone in the room.

Yaro stood up, and limped out of the room. He then grabbed her hand, and held it in his. "I know you don't believe that I am the same person anymore.....maybe I'm not, but I'll say this: I am not a monster. I just.....I can't hold this anger anymore. I don't know what happened, but whenever I see someone doing something wrong, I can't just sit back and let it happen...which is why I want to come with you. "Yaro said. "Not because of my hatred for injustice, though it is a factor......but because I want to find peace with myself. "He said to her, letting go of her hand.

He'd surprised her just then. "But, you know I can't trust you any more. You threatened my life and... I just don't understand what's going on." Robin looks away from him. "And in good consciouns, I cannot put my comrades in danger. Like you said yourself, you cannot control it. If I were alone I might risk it, to travel with you again. But I have people who've put their trust in me to keep them safe." But even Robin sounds unsure of herself. "I just can't understand it."

Yaro bit his lip. He didn't know why, but he remembered the year they traveled together. The day they met, when he made the ring, the fights they were in together....He wanted to admit how he felt, though the rational side of him knew that it would only make the situation worse. He had done enough irrational things today. "I'm not asking you to make a decision now....but please, think about it.....this is as much for me as it is for you......I want to make up for trying to falsely kill you and.....If I turn into a monster, I want someone I care about to take me down...and you're all I have left. "Yaro said. He then reached into his pocket, and placed something into her hand: It was his Victory ring, with the metal of Zaterra. "Just remember....I don't make these for anyone, and I would not trust just anyone with this...."He said, before walking back to his room.

Robin wanted to say more, but confusion and tiredness stole her words. With a sigh, she pockets the second ring. She plans on returning it, but that's for the morning. No point to her having both of them, she thinks. Back to her room to rest, think and sleep. Robin sits on her bed in her room. She's checking over all of her kit, making sure it's all in fine condition. Her sword needed a bit of cleaning, but that was it. Clothes get washed, and her bag gets packed to be ready for tomorrow. If he loses control, like he thinks he might... can I bring myself to end that second life, like I said I was ready before? After all this today, all that'd been said... I don't know. If someone else is in danger, I need to be able to stop him, just like I'd protect anybody else. But she'll never be sure, until it actually happens. She lays her back on the bed with a tired sigh, and drifts to sleep.

Jonathan hadn't hesistated to find the local healers as Robin had instructed. While she had gone back to the tavern he had located and brought together anyone somewhat adept at healing, though clearly at the cost of his stamina. He wasn't one made for running about town after all. After that though he too feels exhausted and returns to his tavern room with a good big tankard of mead to calm down. Was this what adventuring was going to be all about? Seemed like alot of effort, but knowing he'd pitched in somehow was a great feeling. Sure, being a bard was a good job, but came nowhere close to the rush he had experienced for the past hours. Was this really what the famed battlefield bards went through?

(Yaro is about to talk to Jonathan.)

Hearing the doors to the Tavern close, Yaro walked downstairs, to the room he saw the bard from before. He was hoping to see him, to thank him for trying t help him. Even though Robin had taken care of it, the fact he had taken the time for him was worth thanks. Knocking on the door, Yaro stepped in, before quickly bowing. "I want to say.....thank you for helping me. I had shown you no reason too, yet you willingly put yourself up to task. I don't forget those that help me. "Yaro said. He was grateful that someone helped him. It showed him that there were still good people in the world. "-and I'd like to pay you back......do you have a weapon?" he asked.

Jonathan lifts his tankard at him and drinks from it before putting it on the small table beside him "Don't mention it Yaro. Bard's gotta do what a bard's gotta do you know?" he says, gesturing over to the chair "Just you sit down, alright. Went through alot out there.". Jonathan was far from as active as he was earlier this day and the exhaustion was visible on his face. While for most of the fight he'd been shooting his crossbow out of a window, he really did a number on himself by running through town. People of his physique really shouldn't have to do that.

Yaro sat down. Though his wounds were closed, Jonathan was right: Any excursion could open them. "Yes. Well, I do have an Idea on how to thank you.....tomorrow, when we're rested, I want to take your crossbow and work on it. "Yaro said, before holding up his hands. "I am a Zaterran. My people specialized in Black-smithing due to the abundance of raw material to work with. My own specialty was unique, even among them: Magic enhancement. "Yaro said, before pulling out his own sword, Burning coal, and his gauntlet, sitting them on the table. "Magic-enhancement. I can fuse magic within a weapon, give it a much-needed kick. You treat your weapons like your life depended on them, and they'll take you to hell and back. "He said to him. "Let me work with yours, and I'll fix it up nicely. Free of charge."
