Fantasy A Guild of Their Own

"Not at all. You rescued the egg from the clutches of the Phoenix Guild, and the dragon with it." Adelia was beaming from ear to ear as she gently placed the dragon back into the bag, after whispering a few comforting words in it's ear to lull it to sleep. She then slid the bag back onto her back. "Here, we should go now. Are you ready?" Adelia then picked the girl up again. She decided she had to run this time, so as not to alarm her elders.

"Y-Yeah." Kemelia said and braced herself for Adelia to run. At least this time she felt better, so the ride should be a little...less dizzy.

Adelia, being careful with Kemelia's legs, took off at a run. She used her natural tuning to the frequencies to both cover her footsteps and help propel them along a little faster. She usually had to get there within 5 minutes before the elders began to get worried. To let them know she was on her way, Adelia tuned into a mid frequency around that of her voice and sent a message ahead of them, requesting their healer to be at her usual entry point as she had a girl in need of medical attention.

Upon arriving, they were greeted by the elder in question. "Morgan, it's her legs. She can't move." Adelia was then ushered inside, and instructed to lay Kemelia on the bed. "You'll be okay Kemelia, Morgan will take good care of you while he heals your legs." She spoke to the girl in question, laying her down on the bed placed there for medical reasons. "I've to go meet with the Eldest of elders." She smiled comfortingly at Kemelia.

"O-Ok..." Kemelia said. She gave a small smile and waited for Morgan. She couldn't help but think this was a little strange and maybe overwhelming, but dragon tamers...

She just decided to go along with it. It might do good in the end.

Adelia watched while Morgan came over. "How did you injure yourself, dear?" Morgan asked Kemelia. He had to get to the root of the problem before he could heal it. After all, you can't heal that which hasn't been diagnosed. Adelia smiled and walked away, over to where the Eldest was awaiting her arrival. "Elder Leopold." Adelia bowed. Once upright, Adelia removed the bag from her back.

"Who is this girl you have bought unto us Adelia? She is not one of the Guild's, is she?"

"No Elder, she was chased by them. She's now an outlaw. Her name is Kemelia, and she was an ordinary towns person." Adelia explained what had happened, and then undid the bag. She removed the small dragon from it. "Elder, she was carrying this young dragon. She rescued it from the clutches of the Phoenix Guild." Elder Leopold seemed impressed. "I would like to meet her, once her injuries are dealt with."

"I was just running. They got worn out is all. I think i pushed a little too hard to get away from the guards." Kemelia replied. Then she thought for a moment. It might not have been the running, She remembered a slight tingly feeling in her legs when she left town. "Actually, I think hey used a weight spell or something to try and slow me down. I think with the added running my legs just kind of gave out completely." At least she got far enough before hand, or she'd be dead meat.

"It is fortunate that young Adelia found you. She's quite impressive, is she not?" Morgan smiled, getting to work with his healing magic. He was able to relieve the fatigue and mend any potential sprains or fractures. "Your legs are fixed, but the weight spell is out of my area. Elder Leopold will have to remove that for you." He looked at the girl. "Here he comes now."

Adelia had finished talking with Elder Leopold, and noticed that Morgan was done. The pair wandered back over to the healing tent. "How do you feel Kemelia?" She asked whilst Morgan explained the situation to Elder Leopold. Leopold was in the process of removing the spell while they spoke.

Kemelia couldn't help but feel smaller when Elder Leopold came in. She had no magic, yet she could still feel the knowledge and power radiating off him. "Still a little shaken, but I'm fine." she replied with a small smile. She felt safer here at least.

"At least you'll be able to walk soon. Elder Leopold wanted to meet with you." Adelia smiled, her face shining with pride. She had rescued someone who might become their newest tamer. She hoped that was the case, anyway. Adelia was tired of not being allowed to join the other tamers because she was still the equivalent of a pup. She was the youngest of the group, but also protected.

"Why did you want to talk with me?" Kemelia asked. "Is it because of the dragon I brought?" She started playing with her hair since her bag wasn't with her. "Hey, where is it anyway?"

"It's in the capable hands of one of our other tamers, who is looking after it until Adelia and yourself are able to go to it. That's if you wish to become a tamer?" Elder Leopold spoke with authority. He smiled at Kemelia. "You can stand now, the spell has been removed."

There's that offer again! Why were they asking if she wanted to become a Tamer? She only hatched an egg, and a lot of good that's done for her. Then again...she had a new question now. "How long does it take before an egg hatches?" She asked. "That egg I had was thousands of years old, but in history books about them said they lasted around the same time as birds or other animals, maybe longer. Is that something they lied about too?"

"Each egg varies. A lot of the time it's exactly as the book says, but the mother has to be around., Sometimes it's when it's found someone who's worthy, or when it's ready to hatch. These last two are only in the case of the mother being separated from the egg." Elder Leopold explained. The books weren't wrong, but they didn't have the whole truth. "This egg, if I'm not mistaken, has been in the Phoenix Guild's house for centuries. It was separated from it's mother, so one of the last two scenarios would be the case."

"Until it's ready to hatch or when it finds someone worthy. Quite a coincidence it hatched when I had it." She thought.

She looked at the floor and kicked her legs lightly. The dragon chose her, apparently. And that would mean she had ties to it. Like a Tamer would. Now it left her with a choice: to either leave and be on the run and risk being taken in and killed, or stay here and learn how to tame a dragon. Her options were pretty slim...

She sighed and looked up with a small smile. "I guess I wanna be a Tamer then."

"Fantastic. Adelia will show you to the dragon you hatched. That will be the dragon for you to tame. It's easier when they're young." Elder Leopold smiled, moving aside for the girl to get up. "You'll begin learning to tame later on. I must be off." Elder Leopold then walked off, going to discuss some matters with the top level Elders.

"Come on, follow me!" Adelia was excited. She was going to have a tamer her age around, one she could talk to regularly. Sure, Morgan and a couple of other tamers were only a year or two older than her, but she was the baby of the group. They all saw her as their little baby sister, and she despised that. "You're going to be a tamer after all then? That's great! Maybe you'll get to live near me when you graduate the basics of survival and defence."

Kemelia smiled at Adelia's excitement, and couldn't help feeling at least a little excited too. When she was growing up, she was fascinated by dragons and their history, at least the side that she read. She had no intentions of taming any though, so this is going to be its own adventure. "Alright, alright, I'm coming!" She said.

Her legs still felt a little wobbly, but at least she could balance and walk. So that's fine. A little bit of walking should, hopefully, fix that.

The walls of the Phoenix Guild housed chaos, uproar, as members rise their voices, cry out curses to the skies, doubt and incredulity linger in their hearts. The egg, the jewel of old times is gone, stolen by the hand of a witch. Dorian stood by the main hall, his hands joined beneath his chin, his muscles tense, eyes fixed upon the floor. Yes, he was just as shakes as every other brother and sister of the guild, if prone to a more silent approach on it. To think someone would dare to force themselves upon the possession of the dragon...truly the greed of men did not fail to disgust him. Bites on his ear drew him off such grim thoughts, for a moment at least. Glaurung seeked his attention, growling quietly at his chosen Tamer before it would be ceased by acts of affection, as Dorian caressed its chin with a fond smile. The man could not help himself for finding such an intervention to be more of a call for his judgment, to stop him from moping pathetically and actually do something regarding this event that had brought disgrace to the order of Tamers. He stood up, resigning from keeping up this condition that did not fit him. It earned him puzzled looks, even a few laughs. But the moment he headed out the door, those aware of his presence became agitated, he dared say hostile. "If you wish to stay here, sitting with your thumps up your arses, then so be it. I'm going to hunt that witch." He paused, observing those who had turned to face him. "...Glaurung knows his kin well enough." The creature roared by his side. Tracking his target would be a far easier task that way. "I believe my odds are rather favourable already, yes?...So, I ask, is anyone here brave enough to stand with me and allow a fellow dragon to make its choice by its own right?"

Carlos walked along the forest path. He loved woodlands. It reminded him of his old home but it was a little dark for his liking. He started to form a small white orb in his hand and start to sing a small tune, "Forest of the land, never touched by man. Peaceful and Devine. Let you beauty shine." Carlos released the orb and light filled the area allowing him to see the area without hinderance. "Much better," Carlos stopped next to a fallen tree, and pulled out a map. "Ok so how far am I from a town? I'm kinda hungry." He surveyed the map and spotted a large town north of his location, "Anexial? Hmm, I'm not a fan of large towns but I don't see anywhere closer."  Carlos allowed the light to fade away and began to make his way North. "I hope they like visitors."

Thud! Thud!  The sound of hand knocking against wood echoed throughout the small alley. A well dressed man who gave off a faint presence of wealth stood before a shady building nestled inside the wrong side of town. Behind the man were two large men with him, both built strong as an ox. As the man waited for an answer to the door, the two hired thugs kept did their best to look tough and intimidating. After a second round of knocking, the sturdy wooden door finally cracked open. Holding the door ajar, a woman peeked between the gap, her blue eyes careful inspected the man.

"May I help you?" The woman asked with her sultry voice.

"Are you Ariana Kester?" The man returned with uncertainty.

The woman remained silent for a brief moment.

"I am, do you have some kind of business with me?" The woman named Ariana replied.

"Yes... I heard that you... 'Assist' people in need of money." The man said, injuring his pride.

"In that case, come in." Ariana said opening the door,

"However, your two boars can wait outside."

The provoked thugs were about to act out, but the man who hired them quickly dismissed their actions.

"Good little piggies, if you be good you might get some corn after we are done." Ariana teased with an impish smile and she shut the door with a loud thud. After closing the door, Ariana pulled a metal deadlock across to seal the building shut. Nothing can get in, and nothing can get out. Ariana twirl around to face the man, her dress flowed matching her movements. She gestured for the man to take a seat as she made her way to her chair.

"Now, please tell me your name? Without it we can only be strangers." Ariana asked.

"It's Vincent, Vincent Yhoss." The Vincent replayed nervously.

"Vincent..." Ariana repeated, letting the name echo in her mind,

"So, Vincent, you want to borrow som money, correct?"

"Yes..." Vincent said, taking another blow to his pride.

"How much do you want to borrow then...?"

"I need about twenty gold pieces..."

Ariana's brows furrowed at the amount requested. It was quiet a heft sum, and more so when you include interest. Ariana was convinced she could many any profit from the man.

"That's a large amount you are asking. What do you need if for?", Ariana questioned.

"With that kind of money you could buy four pure breed running horses."

"Do I really have to say what I'm going to do with the money?" The man replied, trying to dodge the questing.

Ariana eyed him with a cold stare, but still with a smile on her face. Shrugging her shoulders, she have a deep sign as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Collateral?" Ariana requested.

"Pardon?" He asked, slightly dumbfounded.

"Collateral." Ariana repeated,

"Is this the first time to borrowed money? Give me something that will be worth me giving you twenty gold pieces."

Vincent quickly patted himself down, but he nothing that Ariana deemed vauable. Ariana let out another deep sigh. She the produced a small flask and beaker from her desk.

"What is that for?" Vincent asked as he eyed the glass equipment.

"Do you know how much one gold piece is worth?" Ariana quizzed, ignoring Vincent's question.

"It's worth... One gold piece" Vincent answered, feeling uncertain with his aster do to its simplicity.

"If you make a man work his whole life in a gold mine, how much his that worth?" Ariana quizzed again, but with a fiendish grin across her face.

"Why not put yourself up for collateral?"

Vincent was taken aback by the notion. Vincent tried to keep his composure, but was horrified by the idea. Vincent cleared his throat as he tried to find his voice.

"How would I do that?" Vincent asked.

"Simple" Ariana replied,

"All I need is a few drops of blood, a bit of hair and a bit of spit."

Vincent pondered for a long moment.

"If that's all you need I guess I can do that." Vincent.

"Excellent." Ariana said handing Vincent a needle, and beaker.

"Just throw it all in there, and I'll give you your coin."

"So, what are you going to do with this?" Vincent asked as he pricks his finger letting beads of blood drop into the beaker.

"Insurance that you won't run away." Ariana's cold voice replied.

While Vincent was busy, Ariana pulled out a wooden box filled with coins if various currencies, one can easy buy a decent house with the money she had in the box. She retrieved amount of gold requested and slid the coins over the Vincent who in turn handed her the beaker.

"Make sure you repay be before the third full moon." Ariana stated,

"trust me, you don't want me chasing you for dept."

Vincent nodded and Ariana let him out of the building.

Ariana was certain that Vincent wasn't going to pay her back, so what she paid for was entertainment.

After a few minutes had past, Ariana created a fetish out of Vincent's samples. The fetish as a hand sewn plush doll that looked remarkably similar to the real person. It was only a matter of time before Ariana can play with it.

(Supper sleepy, so quality is terriable. Night)

Carlos wandered through the forest  hoping to find his way into town but to no avail.  Everything seemed different than what the map had shown, " maybe I took a wrong turn." He pulled out the map and studied it as he walked, "I can't make heads or tails of this!" Carlos stopped and took a breath, "Ok, ok. Just sit down and calm yourself." Carlos sat down among the leaves and started to summon his energy. He focuses on the the area surrounding him and casted a spelled to alter the colors of the forest. Trees seemed to shimmer with hues of gold on their trunks and leaves changed to the colors of Autumn. Everything became more vibrant and had a air of magic to it. Carlos smiled at his surroundings, "Perfect," He closed his eyes and hummed at song. He does this regually when he is stressed out. The spell itself take little tax on him because of its simplicity and will last at least a couple of hours. Carlos took off his travel pack unpacked a few things. His favorite book that told tales of dragons of the olden days, a few edible berries he had found while walking, and a blanket he keeps for cold nights. He laid the blanket out so that he could lay on it and began to read. This always helps him relax. Sometimes if he losses himself enough it's like he was back in the forests of his home town Xiliva. It wasn't long before he fell asleep with the shimmering forest around him, book on his chest.

"Come on, come on!" Adelia was bouncing with excitement, being several steps ahead of Kemelia. She was rushing towards the dragon creche they had for any newborn dragons that come in. She had never had her own dragon, but Adelia was keen to show Kemelia around. Her job around the place, aside from occasionally helping tame new dragons, was to protect it. Being the only one with enhanced hearing like she had, she didn't mind it. She warned the other tamers of any incoming and moved around to ensure everything was okay.  Adelia did, however, long for the day that the other tamers would stop leaving her behind with the dragon taming. Sure, she wanted to have her very own baby dragon to tame, but Adelia knew that wasn't going to be the case.

"...So be it." Dorian wasted no more time, with a bow he bid goodbye to his kin before opening the door and stepping out of the quarters of the Phoenix Guild. The dragon across his shoulders reacted immediately, as it always would, prone to its as it was according to its surroundings. Now free to roam the skies, Glaurung flew onto the sky, gathering the looks of awe and fear once in full display. Dorian could not help but observe his companion fondly, making his way towards the edge of the city, onto the forests nearby. Sightings had claimed them as the witch's destination as she executed her feat, leading him to question whether her lair was located there or was she just another scatterbrain with nowhere to go with a dragon's egg. Once Dorian reached the massive oak trees that signalled the limits of the city, his focus was brought to the skies, as Glaurung seemed to attempt to draw it towards him. Or rather, his target. Had he found it? Caught its scent? Whatever the method, he trusted his beast friend to lead him through, as the two ventured into the woods, soon to find what they were looking for...

Hang in there, little one.

Audrey  was walking in the forest near her farm, she walked for maybe an hour "its nice out to day" she said as she was walking and looking around when Audrey saw a man on the forest floor so she ran to his side to see if he was okay "Mr. are you all right!" she said shaking the man lightly.

Kemelia chased after Adelia. Her excitement had surely rubbed off on her by now and Kemelia grinned as she followed her. And taming dragons sounded dangerous, with the guilds looking out for them and, well, dragons, it sounded like an adventure she had wanted. That's why she wanted to be part of a guild.

She was still worried though. What if she left something back at town and they can track her? She could put the Tamers at risk. She'd have to be careful, more than what a normal Tamer would need to be.

She pushed those thoughts aside. She'd worry about them later. After she got to her dragon.

"Here we are!" Adelia announced, a grin on her face. "Elder Leopold informed me we need supplies from town, so I'm going to head in. I go there regularly, they know me as the weird child hermit." She giggled at the title she had been given. It pleased her, having her own home away from everyone else but close enough to their headquarters. It allowed her to do her job properly. Her house was halfway between the town and headquarters, giving her perfect coverage from both directions. In a way, their people were like a guild... Just kinder. "I'll be back soon, I promise. I'd invite you with me, but... Well you're still wanted. Don't worry, they'll take good care of you." Adelia then left with a skip in her step, propelling herself swiftly to her house. She retrieved her shopping bag from inside before heading to the town. Along the way, she stumbled across an area where magic was in use. I wonder who used this magic... Surely not someone of the Phoenix Guild? Adelia walked until she discovered someone asleep, and a woman near him. Perhaps it's one of those responsible for it?

"Hi there!" She called to them, a lot more chirpy than usual.
