Realistic or Modern Zombie Apocalypse

"Practice will come at a later time. For now, my wound's a little too painful to start practice. I'm not sure I would use live rounds just yet. We don't have a lot of ammunition for the shotgun. And it's not like we can just go to a store and buy cases of shotgun shells. We'll have to find them and stock up on them. Not to mention that we don't need to attract undead to us with the gunshots. For now, I think what I would have you do is a simple shooting drill like a one shot reload or two shot reload drill. It's really meant for handguns, but we'll make it work with yours. Basically, you fire one shot at a target, reload, reacquire the target, then shoot one or two shots on the target, depending on the type of drill."

Jennifer stopped for a second. She just told Tori a mouthful. She hasn't been around this stuff in her life, due to her country's regulations on firearms. In the US, it's different. So this might be intimidated by this all.

"Don't worry, we'll make you the best shot ever soon. Just always respect your weapon. Don't be afraid of it. It's a tool, and it itself can't hurt you if you put it down. Only the user can. So remember to respect it so that you don't hurt yourself or others by following the rules. I know it's a lot to take in at first, but you'll get the hang of it. I promise."

Jennifer's wound started acting up again, so she sat down and closed her eyes and tried to keep her breathing calm. It had its moments where it wanted to make her take sharp breaths.

"Not... Feeling... Too good," she said to Tori, clenching her jaw.

Jennifer tried to relax until the pain went away. Soon enough the pain will go away.

"Hey, I'll let you go back to what you're doing. My wound's hurting, so I'm going to go lay back down and rest. I'll be where I slept last night if you need me for something," she said in slight pain, getting up and walking out of the room, wincing at the unfortunate pain that is required to heal. She made her way to her spot she slept at. She lied down and closed her eyes. Taking a sip of water, she tried to relax and possibly sleep. Sleeping through the pain is better than being awake during it. Jennifer knows that from her surgeries before the world changed. She took a deep breath, and relaxed herself, and slowly drifted into a sleep that she fought to get into so she wouldn't have to feel the pain.

Tori stood quietly and listened to Jen as she talked, this wasn't her area of expertise so it would take a while to sink in but she was pretty sure she would get the hang of it it would just take some practice. "Ok..." She murmured and nodded her head as she looked at the shotgun and tilted her head to the side quizzically. Hm yeah she could do this she decided. "Huh oooh yeah yeah i don't expect us to start right away i know you need to get better, You don't want to be pushing it and have to heal all over again." She said firmly. That was the last thing they needed, For jen to be hurt all over again and have to be stitched up. "It's pretty bad huh?" she asked and took the shit gun back and laying it down in a safe place. "Drills sound good" Tori nodded her head firmly and pulled herself back up onto one of the bench's to sit down and started to swing her legs.

"I am sure i will get the hang of it..it will just take some practice." Tori smiled over at Jen. heh she felt a bit better now at least if she learnt how to work this thing she might be of more use to the group which was never going to be a bad thing. Her head perked up and she looked over at the other woman when she said she wasn't feeling good. A concerned expression passed over her face and she frowned "Hey yeah go lay down..be careful ok?" she warned and watched the girl go. She only sat a few moment longer herself before she hopped down off the bench and grabbed her bag slinging it over her shoulder. Since everyone seemed bus she might as well go for a walk around the mill and do a little exploring.

@Jennifer Shotain

Austin had decided to stay by the truck while the others went to check...whatever it was they we're checking not too far away. The man had the door open and stood on the floorboard of the backseat, placing one arm on the roof of the vehicle and the other on top of the door he kept a look out.

"You all about done?" He called out, not too loud but loud enough for them to hear. The man thought it weird that they'd decided to take Holliday's truck. It was taking them a bit off course, and would attract unwanted attention where they were going. If they we're willing to do such a thing they would have taken one of the cars they had parked at the mill.

@Mercer

Jennifer jolted forward. Pain pierced her side.

"Ah, fuck," she said sharply.

She mustn't have been asleep too long. The pain was hard to sleep through. But at least it was healing pains. She'd rather have them than have pains from an infected wound.

She decided to get up and look around to see if there was anything like an NSAID or some other painkiller lying around. Something, she thought, anything to help the pain is worth it. She went to the room she previously was in talking with Tori. Once she entered, she noticed she wasn't there. She decided to look around and see if anything was there.

Nothing.

Jennifer knew that somewhere there had to be medicine lying around. But where? God knows. She hadn't had any left in her own backpack. She didn't want to search other people's stuff and steal. That wasn't right. She hated that that thought passed through her head. I suppose it was the lone survivor in her thinking. She never stole from anyone, but she always scavenged for supplies. And tried to survive. But being with people means she has to do what is right.

She had a couple of options. She could stay there and fight the pain, ask for some pain reliever, or go search a house across the street for something. It wasn't far, but in her injured state, was it worth the pain? What if she gets cornered by undead. What could she do? If was the most risky, yet potentially rewarding option. But do the risks outweigh the benefits?

Jennifer pondered this though for a minute or two. Should she risk herself out there for some pain relief? Was it worth it? What if an undead or two or three (or more) found her. Her current state wouldn't allow her to have her full range of movement and it would hinder her abilities, such as sprinting. What if they followed her to the mill? She would endanger everyone here.

Jennifer sighed. It was a stupid option. It would do her no good. The risks far outweigh the benefits. It wasn't worth it. She knew it. The only thing she could do was just sit here and relax, and fight the pain off.

Back at her ranch when she was a kid, her and her brother would often shoot BB guns at cans in their spare time. They would push their limits all the time. They would make a challenge out of every shot. This is where Jennifer thinks she got her shooting ability. She doesn't know if it is a gift, but it certainly has benefited her now. Jennifer sighed. She missed those games with her brother. She misses him. She misses her life she once had, when her family was a family. Everyone misses their lives before this epidemic of dead walking again. They miss the simple things. They miss the ones they lost.

They miss the ones they love.

Jennifer misses the ones she did. She hates this new life. She wants the old one back. But she knows she'll never get it back. Though death would seem like an easy way out, she wants to survive, and make a difference, and maybe find new loved ones for the future. They don't have to be romantic partners, but people she considers "family". Maybe this new group will become that one day. Hopefully. She needs more to live for, more to fight for. Jennifer went back to her sleeping spot. She leaned against the wall and relaxed her body, fighting pain off.

One day, she thought to herself, one day.

Tammy glanced at austin. The guy had a hard head she slipped her attention back to holliday her eyes narrowed. He had his sunglasses on she couldn't see through them and although he was good with a gun his build was tough and sturdy he probably was still better with firearms than she'd ever be. She glared at his forearms and noticed similarity to one eye. She turned around. The hair on the back of her neck stood up. "Somethings here." She said to the group. Austin was at the car and one eye on standby with miyuki and holliday. Tammy searched the woods and scanned the tree lines. The cover was more than enough for a human to scout us. The bushes rustled again and a weeping cough came muffled from the bushes.. not one, but two corpsers emerged from the tree lines. Creeping at a brisk pace. "4 o'clock we got corpsers!" Tammy hollard. At that moment 3 more emerged

5 total. And she was certain more were to come. "Fuck! Load up!" Tammy reached for her crowbar, it was missing...

The pain started to get to Jennifer. It's not anything too over the too. But it's a constant pain that feels as if it vibrates from her wound to the rest of her body. She wasn't in the mood to deal with it, and she knew there had to be a pain reliever around somewhere. Jennifer decided to get up and ask someone.

Jennifer looked around for Doc, Aidan, and Tori. Maybe they went out somewhere around the mill? Jennifer couldn't figure it out. She had no such luck finding them. A girl, however, that was here when she got to the mill was sleeping. Jennifer hadn't interacted with her too much. she was pregnant, and seemed to be sleeping peacefully. She assumed maybe she'll have something. She felt rude waking a woman up whom hasn't had much sleep And was expecting a baby soon. However, she had to ask. Jennifer wasn't sure how to wake her without scaring her too much. She was beside a jeep. Jennifer decided knocking on the jeep might draw undead from the noise. She would prefer that way of waking her up over her next, more silent option. Jennifer touched her shoulder and shook it.

"Hey, wake up," she said, feeling terrible about how she was waking this poor girl up. "Look, I'm really sorry to wake you, but I need to ask you something. No one else is around, and I need help with something."

She paused and waited for her reaction.

"I'm really sorry about waking you up," she added, feeling terrible about waking her this way.

"Son of a biiiitch" Holliday groaned as the dead filed in from the tree line. At first there were three, now there were five. Holliday's right hand swung down hard and clasped the grip of his revolver. His draw was like a lighting bolt, taking barley over two thirds of a second. As he had always rehearsed, his hand swiftly brought the gun to eye level before it rotated it to a position where the barrel was pointed straight. As he pushed the gun forward his dominant eye followed the front sight toward his first target. At the same time he cocked the hammer making the weapon ready to fire. The moment that his arm was fully extended was the moment he pulled the trigger, as the sights were already on target and Holliday was committed to the kill. Without hesitation the gun began to move towards the next zed, then the next. Within three and a half seconds from the moment he touched his gun, all of the undead had been put to rest.

Holliday raised the muzzle of the gun to him mouth and he blew away the smoke which was still billowing out the barrel. A quick twirl later and the gun was already back inside the leather holster. "Groovy," he said with a slight smirk, "Now lets get the hell out of here before any more of the bastards show."

Holliday dashed to his huge truck, opened the door and threw himself in. He didn't hesitate in the slightest to throw the keys in the ignition and make the truck roar to life. The area was compromised and there was no telling how many were still in the woods. The best option was to get the hell out of Dodge. Once everyone was inside and the doors were closed, he did a U-turn and gunned it towards town.

"Alright we should be good now that were moving again. Im sorry but we secured our objective and Im not risking any lives over something we can't guarantee. As far as food goes, I have plenty which I can share need be, though I have an idea of where we can get some more at a safer, closer location. I don't think we should go there just yet, but we can easily raid it in a day or so. For now I think we've done good." Holliday drew a deep breath and hooked up his sound system once more. This time instead of rock, he opted for an old Johnny Cash album. After a while they passed the herd which they had met on the way out of town, and as before Holliday just ran down the ones that stood in his way. "It shouldn't be too much longer now."

Miyuki gets into the truck shaking her head, "Who says groovy anymore?" She ask herself as she hit her foot on something just before hopping in the cab. She sees a dirty crowbar and picks it up, thinking that it belonged to Tammy. Getting in she looks over at Tammy, who sat in the front seat. "Hey Tammy, lost something?" She asked as she wanted to make sure it did belong to Tammy. If it didn't she was going to keep it, just as a back up to if she ever ran out of arrows.

"Secured our objective?" Austin asked from behind the passenger seat, with a more...arguable tone than he would have liked. But continued, "Hardly. The plan was to get to the chopper and grab the stash of meds, specifically immunosuppressants." Plans never went the way they were meant to, especially when you group up like this. It should have been just him and maybe David, maybe he'd already be back with the meds by now.

It bothered him that they we're returning empty handed, or at least as far as the suppressants we're concerned. Jenn had said she only had a few days of the stuff left, so waiting to go back out could be risky if things got dicey or anything happened to prolong going out. The mans grip tightened around the Oh Shit handle, "Look, when things look a little clear just stop and let me out. I can make my way through town and stop by the pharmacy or hospital to have a look around before I head back."

@Mercer @tammynorthland

Miyuki looks over at Austin as he talks to Holliday, "Austin, there were some immunosuppressants in there." She says as she looks over at him, "And you shouldn't go out by yourself, something could happen." She says as she felt that it wasn't safe for him to go alone. "You should bring someone......" She says as she looks out the window.

@Mercer @tammynorthland @Lekar

Tammy continued to sit in silence. The drivers seat was always her favorite place to sit. The crew was in the back. As far as tammy could tell this mission was aborted and we failed. Tammy looked over to miyuki playing with her crowbar. She placed it in the back seat. "Yea it was mine!" She said. She reached for it and gripped it off of her lap. It wasn't much but she was good with her. She didn't know how to fire a gun so it didn't help her much and since she's so athletic she definitely was more superior with something she could swing. "We need to regroup and get this shit figured out tomorrow." Tammy pointed out. The day was still mid day and they were almost to the mill at least by truck. A corpser crawled on the side of the road with broken legs as they flew by driving. "We need those pills right?"Tammy said forgetful. She definitely forgot alot and usually didn't pay attention to small details. She did poor in school because of it. But she succeeded elsewhere.

Miyuki rolls her eyes as she looks over at Tammy, "Of course we need them, that was one of the main reasons we left the mill in the first place. We have some pills but my question is if it would be enough." She says as she leans back in her seat as she looks over at the others in the cab.

Tammy sat back in her car seat. She wanted to yell at miyuki and she probably would but now isn't the time and even she knew she was wrong. And tammy is door nail stubborn. So her question was if there's a hospital nearby why didn't they stop there anyway? "Maybe we should go home.. I mean if that hospital is overrun we can handle it but. Even if it was pretty empty...how easy would it be to find those immunosuppressants." Tammy looked out the window once again. She was used to always daydreaming generally the stuff she missed the most about the time before was bein able to shop for clothes,workout, and wear makeup. She fucking hated no makeup it made her feel so naked. Her makeup now was just eyeliner. It made her feel human. At least a little bit.

The hospital might actually be a good idea now that I'm thinking about it. We have us 5 we can scout it and if it's ok raid it. If not come back with a heavier crew later. These are just ideas."

When Tiffany woke up, she saw Jennifer beside her. The girl was apologizing for waking her up, but Tiffany didn't mind. Caressing her belly as her vision cleared. "Its okay, sweetheart. I should be getting up right now anyway to stretch my legs and all that." Surely Jennifer needed help with something, otherwise Tiffany would probably still be sleeping. "So what's up?" She asked. If it were one of her off-days, Jennifer probably would have gotten a nasty response for waking her up.

@Jennifer Shotain

Jennifer was honestly surprised at how kind Tiffany was to being woken up. Normally, from her experience, waking people up is about as good as pointing a gun to their head. Figuratively, that is.

"I'm sorry to wake you up," she said, clutching her side. "I just needed to ask you if you had something like a NSAID or any other common pain killer. My injury's healing, but it hurts a lot right now. I just need something to lessen the pain. If you don't have any, that's fine. If you have few left and don't want to give them to me, I understand. I won't hold it against you. I just need something-anything-to lessen the healing pains right now."

You could clearly conclude by Jennifer's facial expressions and tone of her voice that she definitely in some sort of pain. She wouldn't lie to others to take their things. She wants to show humanity in a world that has very little of it.

@Shimakage Thunder

"The Hospital was over ran last time I heard, 5 of us verses hundreds of those things....that's just plain suicide......" Miyuki says as she leans back against her seat. She stares at the windshield as she tries to think and remember why does that hospital sound familiar. "If I remember right, Tiffany was at that hospital, close to where we were, Holliday." She says looking over at Holliday, "Maybe she can give us some info about the condition of the meds there and how bad it was before she left..." Miyuki sighs, hoping she wasn't wrong on that bet.

@Mercer @tammynorthland @Lekar

Austin held onto the bar with one hand, staring out the window, he hadn't realized that the med kit they'd found had immunoseppresants. That they'd actually randomly found some was like something out of the movies, pure luck, or maybe a bad omen. Guessing there wasn't too many he decided against digging into their findings to check himself, instead he let out a drawn out breath that might have resembled defeat once Miyuki suggested speaking to Tiffany. That made sense though Austin snorted at the young girls comment about going up against an overran hospital, "Your crazy if that's what you thought I was suggesting. I wasn't talking about clearing the place, more people means more noise, and more likely for mistakes. I just meant a snatch and grab, simple as that."

"How the hell did either of you know that the meds she needed was in there anyway?" Austin asked abruptly, turning to look at them. "I doubt the kid has dabbled in medicine and you..." Austin looked Tammy up and down momentarily. "...you don't look the type."

@Mercer

"It's called information on the bottle. Just because we are young doesn't mean we are stupid." she says as she turns her head to Austin, "And just so you know, I was about to go into Medicine as a career field but then the end of the world put a wrench in that plan." She says as she turns her head to the windshield, watching the trees go by. She didn't know why she said that, but it was on her mind for the longest time. She was about to go to a University and have a grand life. 'Shut up,' She thinks, 'Others have it worst and lost more....' She sighs as she lies back against her seat once more. She looks over at Austin. "You were upset when I said I can go to the Chopper by myself. But now that you want to go alone, that's ok?"

Tammy sat up a little. If the hospital was over an there was no point trying to fight it. They'd have to go to the mill and recap. Her idea caused a stir in the rig. She looked at her crowbar and felt her pistol....these weren't enough to make it through a horde any bigger than 20 . Let alone she was fast and fit but a hospital provides no hiding nor no place to escape. "There's those pills in the med kit?" She asked blank. She honestly hadn't even looked into all the equipment she mostly notice basic surgical equipment and a few pill bottles some half full and a few were almost out. "There's gotta be something else we can get from the hospital to besides meds?" She thought about food, water, a cafeteria must have been there and probably had food in it still. There must be a way in and put without detection. Right?

She looked out at a sign with the white plus sign and the word hospital underneath and an arrow pointing to the right. Assuming they'd have to turn right here.

"Stop the truck. We need to find out what we are going to do!" She said actually responsible. The usual wreck less stubborn tammy fled for a moment. This was something for them all. Not just her. They had medical supplies this was a trip for immunosuppressants and for her to well. Learn from these people.

@Mercer @Lekar @KathleneWilliams2121

Tiffany could not help but notice that Jennifer was in pain. Did she have any pain killers in the Jeep somewhere? She would like to hope so, even though she couldn't use them because there were harmful side effects for pregnant women, but it would more or so affect her baby more than her. "Um I should have some pain killers, but I don't use them. I also have Medical Marijuana if you want to use that."

After stretching her arms, she waddled over to her jeep and opened up the back to see if she had packed any pain killers. But she did definitely have medical marijuana stashed in there somewhere. However, the marijuana would not be such a good idea until they were in the safety of a Compound or Safe house, so Tiffany started looking for Pain Killers.

@Jennifer Shotain

"Oh, no thanks. I don't do marijuana. Even medically. I just want something simple that you would get at a pharmacy, like ibuprofen. Something like that will help."

Jennifer was a bit surprised to hear that Tiffany had medical marijuana. Jennifer, before the undead came, had reasons and promises why she stayed away from things like pot. It wasn't her thing. Even after the apocalypse, she wouldn't do it. It wasn't her thing. She just wanted something like ibuprofen. Something like that will keep the pain down. It's good enough for the pain that is.

"If you don't mind me asking, how far along your pregnancy are you," she asked, as Tiffany searched the jeep.

@Shimakage Thunder

Holliday kept on driving after Tammy yelled at him to stop. As the conversation between the backseat passengers went on longer, the more Holliday got annoyed. This was the last straw however. "If this truck stops, it's for tall to get out and walk back to your base. None of you bastards ever told me we were looking for immunosuppressants in specific, just medical supplies. Before you give me shut about leaving next time fill me in with all the information next time. Oh, and if you want to go for that hospital be my guest. No, really. Get yourselves killed now so you don't bring others down with you later. Just know I don't want any part in it, as that is one of the single most idiotic ideas I have heard in a long time. Now please all of you be quiet, I need some time to think."

Holliday took a few deep breaths and then rolled down the window. He took of his hat and let the wind blow through his hair. He pictured himself riding shotgun while his dad drove down a highway trying to get to their favorite hintof spots. He missed it, but he didn't dwell on it for long. He reached out and cranked up the dial on the music and listened to it.

"Alright, let's think out side the box, where can we get meds. Hospitals? Hell no. Pharmacies, picked clean in the first week. EMT fire stations? Maybe, but they carry more of a garden variety. Schools? Many have health offices, but Im not sure they would have anything that specific. Universities or colleges might in theirs, but unless you were the reigning HVZ champ I wouldn't risk it. Veterinarian offices, a lot of meds work on humans as well but you have to know the dosages. Still, risk for the raiding party would be minimal. Well those are what you've got. I'm not officially part of your little group, but I'd consider helping if the plan actually has a chance at succes."

As holliday snapped tammy struck back. " you need to calm the fuck down! This group is helping each other out and you chose to hop in again!!" Tammys hand clutched her arm. Her nails dirty and tattered digging her skin.

Holliday removed the hat and thought for a moment. She didn't know if she felt ignored or he listened to her. She had a feeling it was neither. He spoke.

All the locations he listed were smart desisions. And he was right corpsers probably littered the hospital. It was suicide in his head from what he told them. But it was still a vital supply zone. However she needed to help if she could. After being alone for 4 months practically she definitely became more open to working with other people. She started to Crack a bit and noticed that pretty much no where was safe...."how much of those pills do we have for the girl? " She said sighing slowly

@Mercer @Lekar @kathlene

Miyuki looks over at tammy as she asked how many pills, "I think about four....maybe three pills which means she has four to three days left," She says as she looks over at Holliday who pointed out locations, "Well either way, we are going to be ambushed with those things and not find much.......hmm I say the best bet is an animal hospital. Not many people would be smart to raid one and I think she has a bottle of the correct dosage. All we would need to do a bottle with the animal dosage and convert it over." Miyuki leans back against the seat as she closes her eyes and thinks. "What do you all think?" She asks looking over at everyone.

Miyuki's first comment about going alone to the chopper had Austin shrugging his shoulders but keeping quiet. The man was more confident on soloing it alone himself than he was letting a young girl do it on her own, feeling his chances we're higher. Whether true or not who knew, but that was his mindset on the matter.

Austin rolled his eyes in the backseat as it was clear they'd hurt Holliday's feelings. "Wasn't giving you shit, and I didn't know they hadn't filled you in." The teen had a mouth, that was for sure, but he wasn't stupid. Austin wasn't one to take it, but he wasn't about to make the situation worse by mouthing off back. Sort of like Tammy was doing this very moment. "You say your not a part of this little group yet your the one who sent me in their direction?"

"Fire Station's are likely a bust." Austin interjected when Holliday mentioned them, "None I know of ever carried immunosuppressants."
