Realistic or Modern Zombie Apocalypse

Austin's weapon didn't waver as his sights stayed on the woman directly in front of him, his body just barely inside the building but blocking entry to or from at this point. The man behind her seemed intent on claiming he was there to harm hide nor hair on their heads, while this girl had the gall to smile and talk as if she was in control. At this point he couldn't even tell if she was being sarcastic. The man looked military as he claimed, but anyone could steal clothes and weapons while trying to play the part. Austin had to admit that he played it well though, and the stranger was spouting all the reasons he wanted to what exactly? Join them? They weren't a group, this was not a safe place, and Austin sure as hell wasn't interested in what one-eye was selling.

There was some irony in that he'd adopted a lifestyle of ignoring people and their troubles, yet here he was, possibly the only thing between the women inside and these two potential threats. It wasn't like he'd outright abandon them here and now, he understood the situation, that if he screwed up or something happened those behind him could potentially pay the price of his mistakes he went down. Voices from inside and behind him let Austin know the operation was over, or so he guessed, now curious as to the situation. "Everything is fine until asshole A or asshole B decide to try anything." He called out, not averting his gaze from the two strangers. "Speaking of which, asshole B, how about we drop that gun?" Then the woman was giving her name and the fact that she wasn't bitten, two things he hadn't asked for.

Austin's eyes flicked over to the man for a moment, "You want in? Shoot her and we'll let you inside." Austin's eyes went back to the girl. Of course he was bluffing, if the man went for his gun now then Austin would shoot him. It was a test of morality, if he was willing to shoot a stranger for entrance he wasn't trustworthy. It was a risky one, especially if the woman panicked, but necessary.

David heard the words clear as day, and knew that following orders was important. However, David only listens to orders from a higher rank, and until this man can prove that he has what it takes to be better than David; besides the brave content of barking orders to strangers and giving even more ridiculous orders. He could tell quite easily that this man was bluffing, he didn't look the bandit type. This man wasn't going to actually let him in if he shot her, he probably wouldn't even let David shoot her in the first place; David had a better plan.

"Shoot the woman, correct?"

David said as he took his swung his rifle around his back, grabbing it with both hands. David showed no signs of emotion, and simply gripped the gun tight. He looked the man dead in the eyes... and threw his rifle on the ground.

"Well if that's what humanity has come down to, then you're gonna have to shoot me instead, sir. Because if that's the case, this world isn't worth helping."

David had flipped the tables, he wanted to see what this man would actually do if a situation didn't go his way. David wanted to actually know this person.

"You've probably never heard of a Zombie Reaction Squad; we all handle affairs of keeping the living from the dead. We don't make one into the other."

He continued to look him in the eye as he put his hands back up.

Miyuki shakes her head as she sees Tiffany behind her, gun drawn and Josh in one arm. "Are you really going to put the kid in danger? He's barely a day old." Miyuki was a little ticked that the child was here but she knew Tiff was only trying to help her, which while she appreciated, she would rather die and have them live than all three of them getting killed.

'He better have a good idea behind that or else I'll shoot him.' How could he ask a guy to shoot a woman, though she knew nothing about her, it makes Miyuki question if leaving Skylynn alone with him and the others was a good idea.

"I have a feeling this will get ugly, either though a misunderstanding or on purpose," Miyuki then turns to Tiffany, "You need to get back to the jeep just in case. You are a mother-to-be and you have a baby with you. You have more to live for, I don't. I can handle this." Miyuki didn't know how the events were going to be played out, all she knows is that she needs to get Tiffany and Josh to safety until she knew for sure that everything is safe.

Tiffany than made an argument with Miyuki. "No, I'm not gonna leave you." Even though she was jeopardizing Josh's life as well as her own and that of her unborn child. As much as she did not want to admit it, Miyuki did remind her of one of her relatives, who is most likely dead right now since the Apocalypse began. That was one of the reasons why Tiffany didn't want to leave her. She then looked over at the two strangers. Ready to draw her gun if the need arises.

Skylynn stood up slowly, moving only as fast as the pain between her legs would allow her, before moving to where everybody else had gone. She stopped next to Tiffany and gave her a small smile before looking down at Josh and her smile widened even more. "Hey buddy. You okay?" She leaned forward and kissed his forehead she gently took Josh from Tiffany's arms and began to rock him.

Despite the danger they might be facing with these newcomers she stayed where she was, and slowly lifted her head to watch the newcomers.

Listening to the commotion at the door, Jennifer positioned herself in a place she could defensively shoot anyone attempting to come in. She kept her weapon down, but she was very alert. Yes, the pain was bothering her. But she can worry about the pain at a later time. Right now, she needs to focus on the situation at hand, protecting anyone inside, and protecting herself from these strangers outside the door. The first person was a girl. She seemed rather confident in her abilities, which could either suit her well or not in this world. Being confident is good, you need that to keep going. But being overly confident can make you sloppy at times. And in this world where the undead roam around and people do horrible things to survive, one little mishap can cost you your life. The man behind her was interesting. He was dressed in military attire, sporting a bulletproof vest, which Jennifer assumed would be something like Kevlar. And furthermore, he had an eye patch. Interesting, Jennifer thought to herself. He insisted he was here to do no harm. Maybe he was telling the truth, but Jennifer couldn't be certain. Aidan stayed near Jennifer. It was reassuring, assuming if they had to run, at least one person would help her out in her healing, disabled state.

Mica said:
"Does it hurt much?"
"I can handle the pain right now. I need to survive, not let the pain from stopping me to do so, if the situation arises where things go to hell with these people out there. But, to answer your question, yes. It hurts considerably, like a lingering, stabbing feeling," Jennifer replied to Aidan, keeping an eye on Austin, Tori, and the two people outside.

"If things go south, and we need to run, would you mind helping me if I can't? I doubt they will, but if it were to happen, and the pain is hindering my actions, I would like someone to cover me, at the least," she quietly asked Aidan, keeping her eyes on the two newcomers.

Listening to Austin, he told the other man that if he wanted in with this group, he had to shoot the other girl. Jennifer knew right off the bat this was a bluff. Austin may act like he doesn't care, but he has humanity. He would never allow him to be with us if he did such a thing. Her attention turned to the man. He took off the rifle from his back. This is when Jennifer raised her gun and aimed at him, having a clear line of sight. She was worried he may turn the tables and shoot Austin, or do as he said. She kept her finger off of the trigger, however, having some hope that the man would do the right thing. And he did just as Jennifer had hoped. With the weapon on the ground, Jennifer lowered her gun.

"Well played, both of you," she whispered to herself.

Lekar said:

Maybe there is still humanity left in this world, Jennifer thought to herself. Humanity, good people; these are all things she had not seen since before the undead, when life was normal. When things did turn into the way they did now, she saw some of the worst of humanity herself. She saw what the monsters in this world could do. It made her lose some of her own humanity. Being a lone wolf mostly all of the apocalypse made her forget about what was right and wrong. She killed people earlier in the day, yet meeting people that were good made her gain the humanity back in her. She never killed anyone living before that. Though she hadn't had the time to think about killing them, she was starting to feel grief over killing them, even if it was for her own survival. She forced this though into the back of her head to worry about later. She snapped back to the world and regained her attention on the people outside.

The man was starting to eat away at Jennifer's curiosity. She herself has never heard of this supposed "Zombie Reaction Squad," but it did intrigue her, nonetheless. In her eyes, either this man was a brilliant actor and liar, or he was a genuinely good person. Jennifer was swayed to think the latter. If it weren't for her injury and the healing it was going to need, along with the pain it brought her, she would have been more involved in the affairs of the strangers trying to join them. But being that she was still in pain, she hung back, and watched the situation unfold further.

Tori stood firm in her position behind Austin and she was happy to let him do all the talking too. He was pretty good at giving of that scary don't mess with me or i wills hoot you in the head without a second thought vibe and she wasn't sure she could throw out those kind of signals. She took a deep breath when she could feel the tension in the situation mounting, Even the hairs on her arms stood on end. Tori could feel her heartbeat crashing in her ears but she rolled her shoulder and shook it off. Freak out later not now she scolded herself a freak out now could insure that there was no later. Her eyes flickered to the woman at the door and she raised an eyebrow at her tone and her words Was this girl for real? she thought and shook her head, The woman was clearly out numbered she didn't think skill would have much chance here whether she was bluffing about it or not anyways. Even if she took one of them down the rest would kill her before she got much further. Tori remembered something she seen in a documentary once thought about how wild animals get more aggressive when they are backed into a corner and know they are near to the end of life..maybe this was kind of like that.

Tori's eyes practically bulged out of her head when she heard what Austin said to mister GI Joe though and she was about to open her mouth to say something about it before she slapped it shout..na he wasn't that cold..definitely Anti-people sure but she didn't figure he would flat out let someone shoot somebody else just to prove a point. Hell she hoped either way her arms were starting to hurt she was holding this shotgun up so hard. She reaffirmed her grip stretching her fingers somewhat to give them a bit of relief. "Ah hell" she whispered under her breath when rocky himself started to take hold of his gun. Tori held her breath..she didn't fancy seeing someone shot dead in front of her if she was perfectly honest. She glanced betweent he two strangers once more just wondering what kind of way this was going to go. "The squad is a real thing" She whispered in Austin's ear..it had been one of those squads that had been leading her rescue group out. She tried to get a better view over Austin's shoulder to see if she recognised the guy but she couldn't get a great look.

At Jennifer's request Aidan took a second to think. She knew she would probably end up tagging along this time regardless but this was becoming a habit. Did she really want to hang on to Jennifer all the time. Knowing that this might not end well someday, with her wound as well as heart problems, sticking so near her might end in more pain in the future. Aidan scolded herself, knowing that Jennifer also must have been rather tough to make it this long. Anyway, she liked Jennifer and she didn't seem sick of Aidan's company yet.

"Sure, I've got your back," she lifted her shotgun slightly for emphasis.

This proved to be a more valuable gesture than previously intended once Austin called for the newcomers to shoot each other. Aside from being rather shocked that Austin would suggest for anyone to kill one another, Aidan was starting to grow weary of the military man. David might have training to kill living people as well as the dead. If he decided to shoot the cocky girl, he might not hesitate to hurt others in his close vicinity, mainly Austin at this very moment. Aidan let out her breath when David placed down his gun. In reality, everything the man said made him appear as though he were a trustworthy person but even after the talk of saving survivors with his squad, Aidan still hesitated to trust him. She wasn't sure whether it was the fact that he supposedly was the only survivor of the squad or the fact that he seemed so levelheaded under the pressure of being threatened by multiple people but Aidan still remained uneasy. This partly might have to do with the fact that she was still getting used to the girls in the back. Today in particular seemed to be filled with new faces.

Aidan lowered her gun somewhat but still was visibly wary. She would put it away once the two were let in and only then. She almost hoped they would press the girl for more answers but she seemed more or less straight forward. The girl, Tammy, seemed like a survivor of the area. If Aidan were to guess, their ages wouldn't have been all too far apart. Regardless, Aidan kept close to Jennifer, even if she looked more confident about the situation.

The day the earth stood still tammy took shelter in her apartment. Hiding for weeks on end until she was forced into the world watching the world population of humanity fall apart to the corpsers was horrifying.

Today she could lose her life. Or.....she could play these next couple moved smart. The man barked to kill tammy. Her hands started shaking. ' I might die....' Tammy thought.

The order was flipped onto the guy in front of me my hands held steady. The pistol gripped so tight by my hands beads of sweat fell out. The man with the eyepatch spoke about how there was a zombie recon team.... wait

"A recon team for the plauge?" Tammy looked at him dropping her guard the crowbar fell out of her hand and the pistol sheathed back she backed off the door and walked slowly toward him. "A few cities up north where I lived there was a team of highly trained people that went through the area. " Tammy gulped and opened her mouth again, "I think you are gonna wanna see this. " Tammy reached into her pocket. She knew the zombie team. She saw them in her city cleaning it up. She didn't tell him yet but they lost their lives. He was either a lone survivor or in a different division. She pulled out of her pocket a folded piece of paper and opened it up. She handed it to him.

Finally, it would seem that Skylynn was done with the little surgical operation that she had to take care of a couple of minutes ago. When she took Josh back, Tiffany felt relieved, now she had both her hands, which meant that she would now be able to shoot more accurately. Although she was limited by pregnancy, unless there were any sudden contractions, there was nothing to stop her from using a gun. However, because Josh was close, she kept it pointed at the ground. Looking over at Skylynn, she motioned for the other woman to go behind, not wanting to risk Josh or the new Mother being in the line of fire

@KathleneWilliams2121 @Aryn Harris

Miyuki just glares at the two people, arrow still drawn. She steps in front of Tiffany and glares at the two, "If there really is a group and you all keep each other safe, then why the hell are you all the way out here?" She asks in a cold voice. "I mean being out in the middle of no where and just so happen to stumble upon a windmill. Too much of a coincidence, wouldn't you say?" She didn't want to trust the both of them, just because they speak of humanity doesn't mean that they could possess it. She has been lied to before and she wouldn't let that happen to a group of people. She keeps her arrow steady as she sees the other woman's hand drop the crowbar and walk up to the man and hand him a piece of paper. 'Oh goodie, this is going to end badly.'

There was a moment, a brief subtle moment when the stranger was swinging his rifle where Austin's trigger finger twitched in hesitation. Austin didn't want to shoot him, killing people...even the assholes wasn't something he took joy in and he tried his best to avoid it. But then the rifle was on the ground and Austin wanted to shake his head, this man was a fool, but not an asshole bandit like Austin thought he might be. A light almost amused snort came from his nose at one-eye's words, "It's not, the world's not worth helping, not anymore."

Austin regarded the man coolly, "No, can't say I've heard of the Zombie Reaction Squad. And your tale of a military base still standing sounds far fetched. The few I've seen we're all over-run and abandoned, and what few soldiers I ran into weren't keen on another living person in their vicinity either." Though the stranger had disarmed himself, but considering he was military Austin guessed he probably had a knife or something still on him. Tori whispered to Austin that the squad was a real thing, not that it really mattered in his opinion. The woman changed in a moment, dropping the crowbar and putting her gun away. She was a fool too.

This is how the world is now. Again the voice played in his head as it had many times before as he kept his sights locked with one-eye, and what had been an unwavering demeanor that Austin had now held hesitation. This wasn't the kind of situation he wanted to be in, again. To give trust to strangers, enough to let your guard down. It was something he told himself he wouldn't do again, yet here he'd done it with these three women and one partial stranger without realizing. His full attention and guard was to the front, he'd inadvertently given trust to them to watch his back all the while not literally or figuratively stabbing him in the back. But they'd been through this damned day together, they we're at least acquaintances. The mans grip on the pistol tightened and he eased his finger away from the trigger.

Maybe the situation was too much for Austin in this moment, the reminiscent incident of allowing a man into his old group that led to its downfall and cost lives. The day he'd killed his first living and breathing human being, it was all rearing it's head once again. A shaky breath escaped Austin's lips, one he tried to hide and cover up just before he lowered his arm and gun down to his side. Then he took a step backwards into the mill, allowing Tori easy access to the doorway if she wished to have a turn or take over but not leaving or turning away in case he and his gun we're still needed. "I'll let the girls figure it out." Austin spoke in a low tone, turning his head momentarily to see that Jennifer was back on her feet with Aidan close by.

"Thank you, Aidan. I just need someone to help me around if I can't while I'm healing. Afterwards, I should be fine. But in the case that I need to run, or the injury messes with my ability to run or shoot, I'd like to have one person watch my back," she said to Aidan, however, keeping her eyes on the strangers outdoors.

Listening to the others talk about this so called "Zombie Reaction Squad," Jennifer was still a bit suspicious of it. Intrigued, however, suspicious. The other girl out there, which Jennifer believed she heard her say her name was Tammy, said she knew something about this ZRS. That was oddly convenient for the situation. This man shows up about and says he was part of it and he got lost in a crash, and then Tammy just so conveniently is around the same time and knows about it? To be fair, it could be coincidental, just as Austin, Aidan, Tori, and Jennifer herself all met up. But this was rather odd and suspicious. Jennifer still maintained that thought that the man was a good man. But even then, she can't just outright trust him. But looking back on the day, she did just that with many random people. But that was different. They did things to earn some of her trust. These strangers did not.

Austin stepped back and said that he would let the women in the group figure this out, and looked at Jennifer and Aidan. This was unusual of what Jennifer has seen from him. Something seemed to bother him. She can tell that he wouldn't normally just back away like this. But she can question him on that later. Right now, it was time for her, Aidan, Tori, and possibly the other girls they met here to discuss this. Jennifer walked her way over to the door to try, hiding the small amount of pain she felt at the moment. Once she got there, she glanced at both Tori and Austin. But when she looked at Austin, she gave a confused, yet concerned, look. Whatever is going through his mind was certainly making him seem not like the Austin she was getting used to. Taking her attention away from him, she looked at the two individuals.

"To start," she said, turning towards Tammy, "I don't know you, or him for that matter. But you're clearly a fighter. I'm not sure if I can trust you. You'll have to earn that from me. You could be a good person. I hope you are. But that I can't know right now. So excuse me if I do sound rude, I do apologize if I do so, but I'm not sure if I can trust you."

Jennifer thought that this girl was probably just another good person. But she couldn't know for certain.

"And you," she said, turning to the man. "Mr. 'Capt'in The One-Eyed Pirate,'" she said sarcastically, "from the supposed 'Zombie Reaction Squad'. You seem like a good guy. But how can I know I can trust you? I mean, it is rather convenient that the two of you come here at the same time. I'm not trying to doubt you, but, for the safety of the people around me and myself, how can I trust you? Faith? Unfortunately, I don't have much. To show me you mean no harm could mean that. Or you could be a very clever bad guy. I don't think you are, as your words and actions provide evidence to support that. But how can I know for sure?"

She then turned to the women around here.

"Aidan, Tori, Doc, and the rest of you guys, what do you think? What I said was just my opinion on this matter."

In truth, Jennifer was being somewhat hypocritical, given how she trusted the others she just met so quickly. But then she had no choice. Now she does, and the others did in fact earn her trust. These strangers didn't. She knows how the people of this world can be; cunning and deceptive. She has seen the horrors they commit firsthand with what they did to her parents. She didn't want to trust people, but some situations required it. Yet, there she was trusting the the people she were with. They did, however, save her life, after all. And they did earn it. These strangers didn't. They had to be careful, even if the strangers were good people. Jennifer was starting to form bonds with the people she were with. She didn't want anything to happen to them. She had to keep them and herself safe over anything else right now.

Skylynn walked over to Jennifer, Josh held tightly to her chest, and nodded her head. "I agree with Jennifer. I mean, I have a son to protect now... If we can't trust these guys then we won't let them in." She said, kissing her sons forehead as he began to fuss again. "Sh. It's okay buddy. Mommy' here." She said quietly into his ear. She looked at Jennifer and sighed. "As soon as we get this figured out, you will be sitting down and resting. I don't want your stitches to tear out." She added, whispering it into Jennifer's ear so only she could hear what she was saying.

David was content to hear these words. He really did give no reason to trust them besides laying down his arms and answering questions. He knew that he needed a sure-fire way of getting their trust. The woman who called herself 'Tammy' started talking, she said she had heard about one of the Squads he was handling, and she handed him a photo. It took a bit, but David started to understand it. His mind was crumbling at the seams, he didn't want to show emotion toward these strangers until he really them and them him. He shuffled through the photos, keeping his hands out so he doesn't make suspicious movements. He looked at each and every photo, not wanting to believe what he was looking at.

He knew the faces of every man and woman in these photos. He knew them all. And they were all dead; for all he knows he could be the last, or hopefully one of few, of the ZRS members still standing. He saw a blonde-haired woman, she looked really nice, her eyes were blue and calming. She would have really looked beautiful if her body was still attached to her head. He was shocked at what he was looking at. It took him a second until he recognized her; Sergeant Gillian Reynold. She was a real talkative person, she was friendly, but she tried keeping it professional. She was a real soldier, too. When she gave orders to those under her, she was very strict, she was even fearsome at times.

The next photo was of a man, brown hair, a little on the short side. David recognized him right off; Corporal Kayl Ullr, he was a pretty okay guy. David never knew too much about him. He looked at him, instead of the warm smile he always throws when in public, it had been replaced with a twisted face of pure horror. Half of his sides were gone, and a giant hole in the side of his head was present. His right hand was next to his head, it looks like he most likely put himself down. He knew he was beat and had to move on out of life. A very brave choice of him.

David had enough, a single tear rand down his face. To think that the ZRS had seemingly failed its directive was too much for him. He now had a stronger reason to fight. He had to carry on his directive. He had to finish what the other couldn't and protect them all. All humans deserve a fair shot unless they prove otherwise. He handed the photos back to Tammy and wiped away at the one tear. He coughed.

"Thank you for sharing."

He really was thankful, these photos showed him that he lived on when others couldn't. And as long as he would survive, he would help. He didn't like the way of thinking, but he did know of one way to get their trust. It was risky, and could possibly kill him. But he did know a way to prove that he means no harm. He did understand the strange coincidence of both him and Tammy showing up at the same time, even more so with her knowing about the ZRS. David sighed. What he was about to do was suicide, but the only way he could think of to get their trust.

He bolted as the man holding the gun to him was distracted with the women, he grabbed his gun in a split second and disarmed him with little effort. It seemed really dangerous to the others, but he knew that nobody would shoot while he was near their friend. He turned the gun on him, looking out of his one good eye down the barrel and pointing it back. He aimed the gun and pulled back on the release, launching the bullet out of the cartridge and catching it. He took out the magazine from the tiny pistol and handed the gun back to the man.

"I doubt you'd seen a bandit do that. And I told you; I mean you no harm. If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already. Sorry if that seemed a bit excessive, but this was truly getting ridiculous."

David handed the magazine and the bullet back to the man. A deep sense of apology in his eyes.

Aidan had to agree with the group, she didn't like the idea of simply letting the pair in but also didn't like the idea of leaving anyone outside to die. When Tammy took out the photos, she almost lifted and aimed her gun again, but quickly lowered it again at seeing it was only paper. The girl was certainly very lucky to have those photos in her pocket. Since there were no new photos being produced, it was rare to have a picture of anything other than loved ones. While the photos seemed to be one hell of a coincident, David's reaction seemed genuine. Aidan was almost shocked at the fact that she saw the man let loose a tear. She could still suppose that this was an elaborate ruse but she didn't want to. This was more of a drain of energy than necessary and they seemed to be causing the man more pain, or maybe he was thankful to see the picture. Aidan really wished she was better at reading people.

Her attention was quickly snapped back when the man grabbed Austin. She aimed her gun but she couldn't aim at the flurry of movement. Hitting Austin was not an option. As soon as the skirmish started, it ended. David just handed the gun back to Austin and apologized. In Aidan's eyes this made absolutely no sense. She could feel rage starting in her gut and rising till she couldn't stop herself from shouting.

"What the hell!!! Why the fuck did you do that. What did you think that would accomplish!!!" she gasped in a breath, her gun still aimed at him, "So you happen to not feel like killing us now! What about later!?! You clearly can!"

Perhaps the man infiltrated camps and killed everyone in their sleep. He might have stolen their supplies. It might have explained why he looked fairly well off. Aidan's eyes switched from David to Tammy to Austin and back, wanting to make sure the two weren't accomplices and that Austin was alright.

@Crono @Lekar

Austin flinched at David's sudden unexpected movement to disarm him, a twinge of pain in his wrist as his gun was taken. The next few seconds we're of Austin panicking as he found himself on the other end of the gun, hoping one of the girls would shot before he himself was put down. Figures. Of course this would be how he'd go out, he shouldn't have expected any less. Though it quickly became clear that David didn't plan to shoot him, eyes becoming less wide and heart trying to reach a steady rhythm once again.

Suddenly Austin felt like the fool, reaching out and snatching back his gun and bullets. "Your an ass." He snapped, even though he could tell David was sorry by the look on his face, which was quite possibly the only reason Austin hadn't decided to lay the guy out. "You could you have just gotten us both shot." Austin held out his hand towards the women, "We are not trained soldiers like your probably used to, any one of them could have taken a shot or panicked." To almost emphasize this Aidan had closed in on them and started yelling, and Austin didn't intrude, let her say her peace. "Keep your damned voice down." He told her, his voice still somewhat sounding frustrated but in general and not at her. Then he took a step out the door, eyes scanning the surrounding area nervously.

Austin turned his attention back to David, "Was that excessive? Maybe. Reckless? Definitely." Austin slowly re-assembled his weapon and put it back behind him in his pants wasteland, nursing at his wrist slightly with the other hand with a frustrated grumble. "And deciding if you and her are trustworthy or not wasn't ridiculous. Ridiculous would have been if we'd strapped you to chairs and hammered you with personal questions for hours. When it comes to safety, ridiculous doesn't really exist."

Austin snorted as he stepped backwards inside the mill once again after feeling satisfied that they hadn't pulled any unwanted attention, "What's ridiculous is that you come wandering up and expect us to trust you because you can throw out a name and rank." Austin knew he'd screwed up, he'd let his guard down for just a moment of hesitation and David had taken advantage of him. The man was angry at himself, not to mention all of these people had seen it happen for themselves. Any other time he'd be dead right now, and Austin couldn't help but be a little thankful David hadn't ended it right then and there. I can't tell who's the bigger fool.

Tammy fell back on her but as he bolted one-eye was swift and highly trained as he promised us her nice gesture turned into a massacre as he disarmed the man and wait.... her mouth dropped as he handed him the spare bullet and rifle. He was so cunning and quick tammy wanted to run but knew there was no point she was all in.

"What the hell!!! Why the fuck did you do that. What did you think that would accomplish!!!

The girl spoke as tammy stood up drawing her pistol. She stood standby but watched her finished yelling.

"So you happen to not feel like killing us now! What about later!?! You clearly can!"

"It's because there's a bigger reason he's here besides trying to earn our trust!" Tammy butted in. She could see through him at this point. There's something One-Eye was missing tammy knew that the others did not.

Jennifer gave Doc a nod of agreement with what she whispered to her. She was right, and Jennifer knew it was a bad idea to be so active after that, especially with pain still present.

Out of nowhere, Mr. Capt'in One Eyed rushed at Austin, grabbed him, and disarmed him, taking the gun for himself. Jennifer was sure that he was going to shoot him right then and there, and she swiftly shouldered her gun and aimed it right on the One Eye's head. She positioned herself in front of Doc and her child, making sure they were out of harms way. Doc saved Jennifer's life. She felt she should return the favor if this is what it comes down to. She was about to engage the trigger, when he suddenly dropped the magazine out, and emptied the chamber.

Lekar said:
"I doubt you'd seen a bandit do that. And I told you; I mean you no harm. If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already. Sorry if that seemed a bit excessive, but this was truly getting ridiculous."
"Are you fucking kidding me," she yelled in anger towards the man. Realizing the yelling could draw undead, she lowered her voice. She still kept the gun pointed in his direction.

"A bandit wouldn't do that. But excessive? Excessive is exactly what that is! We do what we need to in order to survive. Survival is key now. If you find our weariness to you 'ridiculous,' then you clearly haven't seen what the sick fucks do to people now! You haven't seen it like I have first hand to my own fucking parents! So excuse the fuck out of me when I'm weary about new people showing up," she snapped back, trying her best not to raise her voice too loud.

Jennifer found it hard to lower her weapon from him. She was filled with emotion right now. She had this look of rage and madness in her eyes. She could feel anger boiling inside of her. What he did was stupid and excessive. But, he did prove a point. Even then, one man versus seven or eight people armed was suicidal. Right now, Jennifer isn't sure what she should think. She lowered the gun from him, but was ready to snap it back up if necessary. She was full of anger, but she was suppressing it the best she could. Could this man just be trying to infiltrate us, like a spy from some terroristic bandit group that goes around and kills other survivors for fun? She wasn't sure. Because of this, she didn't want to trust him. She didn't know if she should. She stood back and was listening to everyone else in the group, but didn't keep her eyes off of One Eyed.

David stepped back, everyone had reacted as he expected. He didn't bother putting his hands up anymore, he didn't have anything to pull on them. His rifle, pistol, and knife was on the ground behind them. Any other moves like what David just pulled or even going to pick them up would probably result in him getting shot. David looked Austin straight in the eye.

"These people, these people you're protecting. They didn't shoot you, and while I risked us getting possibly shot, I'd be happier that they didn't. That shows that these people trust themselves, and trust you enough, not to get you caught in any crossfire. They believe in you, and I wish I could prove to you that you can do the same to me. The world's hell, I understand."

The girl inside, yelling about her dead parents, really caught David off guard. That was his breaking point. Him being told that he didn't understand the world and the hell it offered was enough for David to start speaking off-tone than usual. His voice broke into a seemingly angry snap, but a desperate one. He just wanted these people to understand his angle, and trust him even a little. What he did was brash, but it was only for him to deliver a strong reminder that he meant no harm. He looked over at the girl, he had no intention to hurt her physically or emotionally, but to set her in her place on a moral ground-standing.

"I haven't seen the sick fucks out there, eh?

He asked, his eyebrow over his good eye closing down in a doubting way. He slowly nodded his head, looking at her with an angry look on his face. He tried his best not to look too angry, he didn't want to offend anyone.

"When I grew up, my father killed my mother. I took the knife that he used to kill her and sliced his throat open. I've known a life of no parents, and I've been scarred over it. I've known hell before it started overfilling and flooding the earth, girl."

He did a stiff point with his index finger at his eye-patch.

"I can take this off to prove it if I need to, but this eye is gone. I lost it in a helicopter crash when some 'sick fucks' shot us down with stolen gear just because they didn't like us. When that shit went down, it severed my eye in the shrapnel. I watched with only one eye as I saw my dead crew and what was left of them get torn to shreds by the dead. They ate them down and all I could do was watch with one eye and run for my life. I barely survived. And I had to do it on my own. This wound is my reminder that there are bad people out there."

He looked around at the group, his anger-filled face turning to a concerned one.

"And now look at us all, fighting like a pack of baboons because other humans seem to exist. This is an untrustworthy time, I get that, but unless you give a man a chance to prove himself, you'll never know trust again in your life."

He walked over a decent-sized rock next to them and sat down. His gaze shifting between all of them before looking down into the dirt.

"I was a commander of my own division in the army before all this shit went down. We were stationed in Afghanistan a couple years back, and the Major had just given me orders to infiltrate and clean out a terrorist organization reportedly stationed in a warehouse. We charged in, guns in hand, orders in mind. What we found were innocent people, starved, scared, and most importantly scarred, by the war going on in their homeland. We called back the Major and told him he was wrong, but he ordered us to shoot them down; "They're terrorists," he pressured. We couldn't defy him. We killed mothers, hard-working fathers, children even. I still have the nightmares of their faces flashing through my mind... Even before this happened, there were sick fucks in the world. I'd understand that better than anyone."

He sat up, looking at all of them looking at him. He scratched his chin.

"If you can't help me help you, then I can't help you at all. If you won't trust me, then I can't trust you to trust me to help me help you. It's confusing, it's a scary world now. It's a world of death and despair. No hope in sight, right? Well maybe it doesn't have to be. Maybe if you let me help you guys, I can show you what I mean. This group is proof to me that this world still has some fight in it. Humanity hasn't crawled over and given up yet. I know it still has some fight in it."

He walked back over, looking the man and the women inside in the eyes, watching their faces.

"If you still can't trust me, then I guess you've proved me wrong."

Tammy listened to his speech. How he lost his eye. How he had to kill his own father. Tammy never lived a life like that. Hers was more filled with fun, partying, studying, and working out. She watched him sit down. Even tammy knew he wasn't a threat at least to humans. Her trust was tough but she still hadn't seen any survivor until now except.. she shook the thought, 'not the time,' One-Eye sat down all his armory was abandon. The yelling was loud but not super loud to draw attention. Tammy smirked a little, kinda devilish. She could run and grab his gear but even she knew he had value more than the firearms did. Like how to fire a gun herself.... Tammy laughed in her mind.

"It's all up to you guys now." As she pointed loose finger at the entrance to the windmill.

Skylynn positioned Josh so that she was carrying him with one arm and she gently reached out to squeeze Jennifer's shoulder when she yelled at the man about her parents. She pulled her closer to her, and began to run her arm.

She didn't know why, but she felt the motherly instinct to make her feel better. Sure she had lost everything too, but of all she had left to offer was protection or advice or being a mother to someone, then she would do it.

"Are you okay?" She asked Jennifer, slowly pulling her arm away from her in case the contact wasn't welcomed.

Austin listened through David's words, and shook his head lightly at the end. "Your impatient, there was more than one way to try and earn trust. You hadn't even given us enough time to assess the situation, we wen't from a stressful situation in here, to a potentially dangerous one out here. You just managed to rile up and anger a flock of women." Or a witches coven. Austin crossed his arms over his chest, "Honestly, I don't trust you. That stunt you pulled, I get what you we're going for...but that just showed me your daring and dangerous. And I really don't like it when someone gambles with my life."

Lifting his chin up he singled out Tammy after she spoke, "And your still a complete unknown. One-eye over here put his guns down without even being asked, you however kept yours up after being told to put it down. Not that I completely blame you, but it sure as hell doesn't help your case."

The instincts Austin had adopted over the last few months told him to run, to make an excuse to go make sure there we're no dead nearby and ditch into the woods just like Echo had. He was supposed to be done with people and live what time he had on his own terms, yet here he was not making a move. The thought of leaving these two strangers with the girls didn't sit well with him, not to mention there was the other group of three...though one had a baby and the other was expecting so more or less he expected them to be decent enough especially since they had helped Austin and the others. "Trust isn't given, it's earned. And just because you didn't shoot me with my own gun, that you happened to rip from my hand, doesn't earn that trust. Maybe it earns you a chance, but that's not up to me."

Tammy stood with her hip popped to the side a little bit slightly cocking her head with a slight pose behind it. "Your points are all valid. I do have a purpose here as well. Not quite the same but my request was a place that's free of the corpsers." Tammy paused. "I'm not sure if your aware of this but 3 blocks away an entire flock of corpsers were massacred with a clean cutting weapon." Tammy wanted them to know there were dangers besides her and One-Eye

Aidan struck a glare at Tammy for supporting David, but she remained silent for now. Austin had been right, she was too loud and she might have stepped out of line. They would have to forgive her though, for she would not be lowering her gun yet. She was far too furious and nervous.

People really seemed to want to try to bring up the past today. Aidan was struggling to focus on today and now. If she thought too much about the past she might start feeling guilty or incredibly resentful. As David told his life story, Aidan couldn't help but get more frustrated. His childhood was terrible, that much was clear, but Aidan had no interest in mentioning the old world if she could help it. On the other hand, the fact that his plane got shot down was easier to deal with. She felt a slight prick at being called a baboon but she couldn't be angered much more than she already was. If anything, the man continued to unsettle her. Not only had he killed young but he had killed innocent simply because he had been ordered to do so. It was nerve wracking to think of the influence the military sometimes had over their soldiers. Aidan didn't want to trust him but would go along with whatever the group decided.

Aidan also wasn't too comfortable with Tammy. She was too confident for her taste, reminded her a bit of high school, and seemed too quick to trust David. There was still a chance that the girl simply had arrived at the same time as him by coincidence but for now Aidan would group the two together and assume they were in cahoots.

While it was still incredibly visible she didn't like them, Aidan would refrain from voting. If Austin was willing to give them a chance even though he had been disarmed and threatened with his own weapon, then perhaps Aidan would too. She lowered her weapon slightly and took a step back, "I'd rather not decide," her eyes never left David. He would have to settle for the trust of the majority.
