Fantasy Wolves on the Run

Fading Shadow

On the Run as always
Propped up against the back of the cage, Alyla pretended to be asleep while planning a plan to escape. Today was the day she's going to escape from this hell. In the background, a door slid up with footsteps to follow. Click, Click, Click The sound got louder then it got quiet. Alyla slowly opened her eyes slightly as she glanced at the front of the cage. An older woman had crouched down peering inside. "My, my..." Alyla shut her out watching as the woman had unlocked the cage door.

Without hesitating, Alyla shifted into Andreasa, her wolf. Andreasa bolted into the cage door, knocking the scientist off her feet and out of Andreasa's way. Andreasa quickly scurried out of the room and down the hall way. All different senses came to her nose. Seeing a light coming from an open room, Andreasa skid to a stop in front of the room. Inside the room was one single cage. The scent of a wolf came from the cage to Andreasa's nose. Wondering who this wolf was, she pawed up to the cage. A young boy with headphones on his head laid there. "Hey Kid, if you want out, now is the time to escape." She spoke to him as she unlocked the cage and opened it. If he wanted to follow, that'd be up to him, not Andreasa. So she disappeared out of the room looking for the way out.

Grey Bat was perched in a tree, staring at the lake camouflaging his birthplace. He flashed a light to another tree, where his comrade Ketsueki was perched. He planned to free the remaining prisoners in that hellhole. He awaited her signal that it was safe to dive to the lab.

Elliot looked up at the wolf and jumped nearly a foot, eyes wide. He knew the wolf. He just couldn't remember her name. Elliot stands and moves to the cage door, trying to minimize his limp. The scientists were testing an inhibitor on him today, and it unfortunately worked. Not only did it force him out of his wolf form, it also caused major pains throughout his body. An escape, today of all days, was going to be quite difficult. He can't shift into his wolf for another twenty minutes. Could this have been timed worse? Probably not.

Elliot leaves the room carefully, hissing a little when his leg protests. Damn, he curses in his head, hasn't anyone heard of leave the boy in pain the fuck alone? Elliot leans against a wall after a few minutes of painful walking and closes his eyes. His breath is ragged and forced, and his face is gleaming with sweat. After all the shit he went through today, an escape is not ideal. Not that he wants to stay, don't get him wrong. He wants to leave as much as the next test subject, he just doesn't know if he has it in him.

Ketsueki observed intently for movement and a signal to move in. The echoing sound of a closing door reached her ears. They'll be walking out soon, now... Quietly the she-wolf proceeded to dash up to the door, preparing for herself to stab whoever was exiting the facility. She knew that whichever scientist was preparing to exit, they wouldn't be able to react to a swift blow in time. She flattened herself against the cold rock of the mountain the entrance was hidden by. She flickered her dagger in the moonlight, giving her ally the signal. It was time to help those who were stuck escape, and hopefully get rid a few of those monstrous humans. Such a thing was absolute mutiny! How could anyone want to do such a thing?

She felt a warm body join her. Heather? The confused girl lowered her guard and turned around to see her former lover looking back at her, anger blazing in her dark brown eyes. "Heather? What are you doing here?" She didn't respond... Was she even really here? Why would Heather be here? Of all places? Small, warm hands grasped her crush's shoulders, as the redhead proceeded to attempt to shake her out of the trance. "Are you okay? Heather?"

Coming to a stop, Andreasa had came to a cross road in the hallway. Looking over her shoulder, she noticed that the kid was having difficulty walking. Taking a deep breath as she noticed an Exit sign in the corner of her eye. Turning around, Andreasa dashed back past the kid a little before skidding a turn and stopping by side him. "Get on. I'm not leaving you behind." Alyla's voice appeared in Andreasa's mind. Are you sure this is a good idea? But Andreasa paid her no attention.

Before she could say another word, the bloody alarms went off. Andreasa growled as she quickly backed up and pushed her head against the kid's legs so he would sit on her back. "Hold on tight!" She spoke as loud as she could over the alarms. "We're getting out of here." Racing down the hallways then making a sharp left turn towards the exit, Andreasa could hear the pounding footsteps and shouts. The moment the door was in reach, she banged her head against it forcing it to open causing it to crash against the rock wall. A large dust cloud filled the air. But she raced to the forest. Getting a good distance from the lab, she stopped, taking a large deep breath of fresh air.

Bat jumped down from his perch, unveiling a silenced tranquilizer gun. He ran after Ketsueki, only to see her talking to herself. She was acting as if there was someone there. Bat sighed. He was used to this; his partner suffered schizophrenia. "Snap out of it, Ketsui. We have things to do." Bat sneaked into the facility, utilizing his vast knowledge on stealth to remain undetected. The first human he encountered was a SWAT member. Why are SWAT members here? What are the scientists hiding?

He shot the man's neck with a dart, watching his prey instantly fall to the floor, snoring. These soldiers aren't high quality. On a budget? Bat continued to stick to the shadows, slithering further and further into his own little hell. Then, the damn alarms went off. He didn't mess up, step on any tripwires. Ketsui didn't do anything. Is there someone else helping us?

Elliot gasps in pain when the wolf nudges his leg, causing them to give out and sit on its back. His eyes start closing. Then, the next thing he knows, the wolf headbutts a door and he is practically ejected from its back. Hitting the rocks hard, he moans, curling up. He can hear footsteps nearby, and he scrambles to hide behind the open doors. The footsteps are rhythmic, almost like one of the SWAT men they have hear, but more... precise. Like the rhythm was pounded into the person's head since they were little. Fear shoots through Elliot. Did they hire more specialized officers? He asks himself frantically, breath quickening. Eyolf, who is just waking from the inhibitor, sighs in Elliot's head. You dumbass. No, of course they didn't. Eyolf scolds Elliot. Elliot shrinks in on himself a little. Of course they didn't. How stupid can I get?

Bat forgot the idea of stealth, and ran towards the exit. When he got to the corner leading to the holy exit, he began to become more rhythmic and calm with his steps. They're most likely hostile. I better sedate them then extract them. Bat moved extremely slowly and precisely, expecting to see a future friend. He began to hear the breathing of an anxious person. I think I found one. Bat quickly closed the door covering his target, aiming his tranquilizer gun at him. He realized how frightened this boy must be. "I will not harm you. I'm here to get you out of here. If necessary, carry you out. If you're too anxious, I will sedate you to make your escape easier and lift the stress off of you." Bat's breathing was steady, despite knowing this boy could possibly murder him.

Her eyes widened as the hallucination vanished. Damn it, of course. She wouldn't be here to see me. She wouldn't be here at all, what the hell what I thinking? Ketsueki spun back around and dashed into the facility after Bat. She quickly ran and hid past the guards and scientists that were patrolling the area(which took much longer than it really should have) and proceeded up a staircase onto the confinement floor and began to scan through the cells for any prisoners. No one? The alarms seemed to blare louder and louder, and the lights flickered faster and brighter. She was done with this place, and Rosewillow took over and dashed out the door, with Kestsui's persistent cries ringing in her ears. NNOOOOOOO THEY'LL NOTICE US NOW!!! The wolf rolled her eyes at the girl's annoying squeals. Would you rather get caught or trapped or killed? The subdued mental state of Ketsueki submitted to Rosewillow, seeing that she had a point, after all, and sighed. Fine, then...

Elliot yelps and jumps to his feet, which he quickly regrets when his right leg gives out and he falls, his head hitting the wall hard. He looks up at the man, sight fuzzy. "You... you're the legend..." Elliot says with awe, even though he has other issues to be concerned with. Like the fact that he can barely support himself on his feet right now. And the fact that someone is going to realize he is missing soon and find him and inject him with more inhibitor.

Bat sighed at the clumsiness of the boy. "I guess that's what I'm called around here. But seriously, we need to get you out before they find you and inject you with some other shit. I am currently contemplating sedating you, as it seems you can't move too well anyways. Would you like that, so you can have the stress off your shoulders?" He continued to keep the tranquilizer pointed at the boy, although he now knew he wasn't hostile.

Elliot looked down at his feet. "Could.. the sedative kill me?" He whispers. He's heard of others trying it, but he never tried it himself. After all, he knows that if he needs to die he always has his blade on him. Except for now, it seems, as he left it in his cell. Fourteen minutes, then most of the pain should be gone. Elliot reminds himself.

Andreasa had let Alyla take over, she turned back to look at the mountain. Don't know what happened to the kid. Maybe he slipped off before she could notice. Taking a huge breath in, Alyla let out a loud howl. Maybe others who have escape would hear and come to the howl. Or maybe not. She won't know unless she sits and waits. What if there are no others? What if it's just me? Don't bullshit yourself, Alyla, you know better than that! Andreasa growled to Alyla. Sighing, Alyla nodded before putting on a brave face. Then she decided to let out another howl, in case others didn't hear it the first time.

Bat immediately learned this boy was suicidal. Not only did the question tell him this, but the boy's eyes told him he was on the edge of cutting the ribbon which tied him and life. "You're in mental and physical pain. These darts will not kill unless I command them to empty enough tranquilizer which will kill. Sedating will negate your physical pain. We're running out of time."

The wolf dashed out the exit, accidentally stumbling into Elliot and causing him to fall over(again). Quickly Rosewillow saw what she had done and allowed Ketsueki to take back over. The girl found herself still on top of the boy and, blushing ridiculously, stumbled off and apologized quite loudly. "SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO I JUST I UH..." more rambling continued on after that as the frantic girl's face felt like it had been torn off, microwaved, then slapped back on. Ow, man. Ow. She was almost in tears she felt so embarrassed.

Elliot hisses in pain, having fallen on his bad leg. "It's fine, I don't care... just... shoot me... I mean, sedate me..." The pain was causing tears to form in his eyes and he hated himself for it. Even Eyolf, who usually doesn't bother Elliot much when he is in pain is scolding him for being such a baby.

Bat shot the dart into the boy's neck without hesitation. He swiftly picked him up and carried him out the exit. "Get over it, Ketsui." He noticed wolf tracks. An artificial wolf... another one escaped by their lonesome. Bat began to track this wolf, still carrying the boy.

Alyla plopped down on the dirt leaning back against the tree. Andreasa, what do we do if no one shows up? We do the one thing all wolves do. Survive. Alyla sighed before sniffing the air. Someone is coming this way. I'm taking over. Without a word, Andreasa took over Alyla as she stood on all four paws growling, not knowing who is coming.

Bat heard the growling, which was surprisingly less intimidating than he had anticipated. He lied the boy down behind a tree and took a knife out to supplement his tranquilizer. I will not kill her. It seems like a her, anyways. He turned the corner to see the very wolf growling. "Hello. I'm one of you; a test subject. Perhaps you recognize me like that lad back there did."

Ketsueki stepped back as she heard a howl echoing in the distance. Rosewillow laughed at her, but Ketsui ignored it. She ran after Grey Bat, hoping to help in some way. "I feel so bad, oh my god, do you think he'll be okay? I want to help in some way, is there any way that I could help him while he's asleep? Do we have any healing supplies or anything? Or maybe I could help him when he gets up? Do you know what I could do?" As I'm sure you can tell, the awkward, reserved girl felt really bad about harming him. The she-wolf quickly shut up as she realized that her comrade was dropping him off with her. She looked at his body lying so awkwardly on the ground. Well, we can't have you uncomfortable, now, can we? Ketsueki grabbed his shoulder and positioned him to lean against the tree while sitting on the ground. Her attempt to make him at least appear more comfortable was rewarded with a soft thump on the ground as Elliot fell over. Frantically(of course), Kestsui tried to position him back up against the tree, this time letting his unconscious body lean against hers so that he didn't fall over again. Of course she had gotten the leverage wrong and he fell over on the other side. Nooo!! stop falling!! He wouldn't keep falling if you didn't know how to get leverage on your side, bozo. Fine, then! I'm sorry, are you satisfied? Of course not, but anything to make your time a little more frustrating is always great fun. Ketsueki sighed once again and gave up on sitting him up comfortably. Instead, she decided to lay him down on his back and grabbed a dry pile of moss for him to use as a pillow. That works, right? Right. I'm right, there we go. We've got this, we've got this.

Elliot wakes after falling over twice and being repositioned. The ache in his leg has subsided a lot, though it is still there. He looks up and smiles lazily at the girl. He must be safe now. Right? Of course, he must be safe. Unless... no, he isn't dreaming. If he were in a dream, would his leg be aching? If you were dreaming you would be dead, dumbass. Eyolf responds sarcastically. Elliot closes his eyes and recomposes himself before saying, "What's your name?"

Andreasa growled a bit more. "No, I don't know you. I know of names, Subject 9, Subject 26, Subject 6, Subject 20, Subject 30. And as they called me Subject 1." Alyla had enough of Andreasa's hostile mood and took over, going back to her normal two legs. "Sorry about that. Andreasa, my wolf, can get a little hostile around people she don't know. Now, who are you and which subject are you?" Alyla asked the boy who looked to be about her age.

She looked down awkwardly at him "Uhh... Ketsueki Yokubo, but my friends call me Ketsui..." She froze as she swear she saw a bee fly by. Those things drove her insane. With their annoying little buzzing and mean ass stingers. She didn't know if there would just be one random be out there or not, but, by god, she swear she saw one. The 'bee' in question flew back into her sight, then proceeded to buzz around for a few seconds before landing right next to Elliot's face. "And wh-what's your name?" she managed to stutter out as she kept her eyes concentrated on the 'bee.'

Bat sheathed his weapons. "Who am I? Hm. A very good question, which only one person in this world can answer. Shame to say it is not me. Subject? I was never given a number. Simply, they called me Grey Bat." Bat rubbed his chin, pondering the name "Andreasa" and "Subject 1." He then recalled multiple memories. "Oh, Alyla. I am rather surprised you do not know me." Although his words said he was surprised, his tone nor facial expressions did.
