Fantasy What We Do In The Shadows

ESSENTIAL, PLEASE READ!!

The speaker within each and every room buzzed to life, a low humming sort of sound. The crackle was heard, before the cutting edge of the voice of the woman from the orientation slithered out. "It appears, we've had our first breach of code. The first of major breaches of code. A one Kyle Reavus has been removed from the facility, pending a harsher actions. The facility would like to remind those within it that the cameras pick up everything. There are no secrets. There is no hiding. Use of abilities is punishable by flogging, among other things. We invite you all to have a safe night, and be reminded, classes are to start soon."

Amaya's eyes widened at the announcement. She stiffened. Cameras pick up everything? As in everything? Even in the rooms. Then she would have to ignore her dear kitten. She shifted, looking at the ghostly cat on her shoulder. That meant she couldn't even apologize to him or say goodbye.

Realization dawned on her and she moved her gaze to the floor. This isolation would be worse than the entirety of the last six years. No, she couldn't deal with more people right now. Amaya ducked back into her room, kicked off her shoes, and hid beneath the blankets on her bed. Yes, this was the only option. She felt Raptor nudging her hand so she squeezed her eyes shut, trying her hardest to ignore him. He mewed softly.

"I-I can't," she tried to explain. He pushed his way closer to her, purring. She broke, tears pouring down her cheeks. Covering her mouth with her hand, she wept softly.

Waiting. Pointless waiting. Plain rooms, simple arrangements. Seemed like Emma was in prison, which would actually be the closest thing that this was to compare to. Why her? She did nothing wrong, and what she could've done never actually happened. Emma began to miss those days. The days in which she didn't feel watched, and how eyes are always peering at her. Observing her every move. So now, she waits in anticipation or boredom for her potential roommate to show her face. It wasn't like Emma needed her however, she was very happy with pacing around the room nonstop. She even felt like calculating how long it took and roughly how fast she was pacing. Observing the room, there seemed to be no structural weaknesses. Nothing to help her escape, at least to her. Emma wasn't that known as an escape artist, because the fact is, she isn't one. Seemed like she would have a be a good child, and wait until she exists this madness lawfully. Then, there was the buzzing sound.

An announcement about a boy named 'Kyle Reavus'. Seems like he breached the code, and was punished for that. She felt no sadness in this news, instead, this announcement that may be for breaking the spirit of the residents within brought some information. Cameras that pick up virtually anything, something Emma could keep into account for the future. The opportunities this information brings, it raised her spirit. Something she needed.

Disadvantage with worrying about your mumbling, is that you don't recognize anything around you that well. Seeing the guy on the floor, a decent distance away from everyone else made Alex look over at the person who did this. Red hair, grey eyes, and overall, a fairly fetching woman. Of course, these observations were made earlier. However, this re-examination had a purpose. A person doing rash actions like that with red hair? Quite a coincidence. Mental note. Our fiery redhead category had been satisfied. Any more, and I can see myself beaten to a pulp in the corner of a room, He thought with a pinch of sadness within. Quite a depressing thought, it would be ideal to get out in one piece. If he managed an escape that is.

Without a second thought, the boy used Alex as a way to get backup. He didn't mind that much, this happened way too much for his own liking. He was about to say something like, "You're welcome." Or, "I see you've taken my mental note to use me as a way to get back up." Looking to the corner of his eye, the boy was doing something. Before Alex could ask what he was doing or even recoil, the boy had puckered his lips, and touched Alex's cheek with said lips.

First impulse, was to shove him away. There were flaws in this as Alex noticed. If the person got shoved away, only more attention would be centered around him and Alex didn't feel like being remembered as 'that guy who was false-kissed by the funny guy'. Instead, he kept his cool.

"Keep up those good deeds and there will be more where that came from."

Alex put on a smirk and responded with, "Oh you hopeless romantic."

Looking around, it became quite obvious that a crowd was gathering. Mostly due to the fight and the illusions no doubt. Seemed like a good time to get introduced to everyone, Alex found no better opportunity to do such a thing. Just as he was about to introduce himself, Alex was swiftly interrupted by a speaker.
I'm in the middle of my defining moment! What is it stupid non-advanced technology!?

Apparently, a man by the name of Kyle Reavus was gone. Dead, or out. If Alex had known the guy, he would probably be sad. Perhaps shed a tear even. However, these tears would be saved for someone he actually knew in the future. The thing that really got his attention were the punishments. Seems like this was a warning, seeing how the person Alex witnessed getting pushed just displayed his abilities. Not like he was angry about this, Alex was more happy that the person had somehow gotten out of their radar.

"I'm assuming that the process of us all being eliminated is not a voting process. Now, if I was by myself, I would probably have an anxiety attack. However! That would be embarrassing in front of a crowd. So! Onto introductions unless I missed it. My name's Alex, and who are you wonderful people?" A little soap box that he could've stood on would've made this talk in front of everyone way better. Though it seems like Alex doesn't get the luxury to stand over the crowd before addressing them. Quite a shame that is.

Danielle paused, listening to the announcement. Everything and everyone is being watched? So much for privacy... She turned to the boy who had Just introduced himself, Alex. Danielle nodded at him, offering a small smile in return. "I'm Danielle." She said. He seems a bit odd. She thought to herself.

@Pyosimros

Here it is. A new experience had just begun for Max. He wasn't very fond of new experiences. It's much safer to say that he'd rather not change anything about his life. But, he has been forced to join this facility. He wasn't really looking forward to it, especially meeting all the new people. But there was a good side in all of this. If those people were telling the truth and were actually somewhat competent, they would get rid of his superpower. Max read a few stories about people with superpowers, but thought little of them, although he admitted that having one would be cool.

But not one that could actually show him a snapshot of a future event and then not letting him do anything about it! Max's been getting insane from trying to stop those events from happening. But he couldn't and he knew that.

A scary-looking man who was a guard let him into the facility, handing him a note about the whereabouts of his room and his roommate. Great! Max would have a roommate! It's actually the last thing he wanted. He looked around and saw what he expected to see. A typical, generic facility asylum thingy. Here I am, a freak about to live with other freaks, he thought. He found his room he was supposed to live in. It was empty. He unpacked his suitcase (he didn't bring a lot with himself, only the most necessary things with a few gifts from his uncle like a several mangas).

He heard some noises outside. There was a large group of people talking. Although not really a people's person, he figured he'd at least come to see what's going on. There was a crowd of people! The blonde guy in the middle asked them something but Max didn't hear what. He figured he would watch from the side and see what they're up to. They're freaks with superpowers like me...and I have no idea what they're capable of. It's better to watch them from a distance for now, he thought.

(Sorry to everyone I missed, my phone isn't allowing me to tag right now)

Kyle caused the first breach.. Hm. Eliminated. That word stuck with Morgana. Apparently there were cameras everywhere. Technically Morgana would be safe from this, as long as she did it all within reason. She was already in her 20s.. She couldn't be broken of her most valuable skill.

Morgana glanced over at Amaya, who seemed to be internally freaking out. She knew that this was going to be hard on a lot of the people here, especially the younger people. "Stay calm." Morgana whispered soothing, looking down at Amaya.

Upon looking up, she saw the young, feisty fellow kiss Alex on the cheek. She couldn't help but giggle at the sight. Alex didn't act like it bothered him too much. He then introduced himself, which Morgana already knew who most of them were.. Gifts are helpful that way.

"My name is Morgana Mercer." She leaned forward to do a half bow just at the waist, introducing herself to the whole present group.

From the corner of her eye, she noticed a boy standing in his doorway. She closed her eyes for a few seconds, searching his mind for his name. Max.

"Hello." Morgana did a slight half wave to him.

Max heard a girl respond ''My name is Morgana Mercer.'' at the dude's question. Max figured he could be asking for everyone's name. It seemed very awkward. For a minute, he wanted to answer the question as well, but backed off. What would they think of him, when he's already eavesdropping? Nobody saw him and then he would just come out of the blue, answering the question. Not the best first impression.

It got scary when the Morgana girl actually looked at him. Ah, he was spotted! Well, now it seemed really awkward. But decided to roll with it. Maybe he could actually make some friends out here?

''H-Hi!'', Max said. He felt like he blushed, but wasn't sure of it. ''I-I'm Max. Max Warfield. You're Morgana, right? N-Nice to meet you!'' Well, that wasn't so bad. Now, the question remained what would she think of him.
This guy is definitely not fun at parties!, Max thought to himself. He smiled.

Damien Lynch

There was a cruel moment of silence once more when he found out that the boy had no idea about the various sorts of magic that were located in the facility. Nodding after a moment he got to his feet, with a wink, he rooted around in pants pockets. Removing from said pockets, a pack of saltine crackers. Dream food. He hadn't the slightest idea if they tasted correctly. They were the product of watching How It's Made before sleeping. Secondly, it was the hateful, resentment of the fact that this was the last thing he'd managed to pull from his dreams. He had, before finally being taken to the facility, managed a pack of crackers. He took a few steps closer, his steps slow and deliberately so. He didn't want to spook the boy there.

When he was close enough, he crouched down and offered up the crackers, his brows raised. "Dream theft is why I'm here. It's not, what you assume it probably is. It's more like, stealing shit from my own dreams. Dream crackers. Dream dead things. Dream things. Of course, to pull jack shit out of a dream, it takes some major focus and a deep understanding of the thing you're pulling out. What is it you're gifted with?" Gifted, that was the wrong word to use, probably. The wrong word because, if he were gifted, he would be normal. One of the top ten gifts a human could have, normalcy. Of course, Damien from a year back would've laughed you out of the room if normalcy was offered up. Now, he would've paid for the option.

Damien had, in the last few months, gotten the feeling in his stomach that he was not going to be rehabilitated. That this, was a final stop, not a pause. Of course, he couldn't trust that idea, seeing as he was not gifted with sight, or clairvoyance. He wasn't gifted with anything that felt abundantly useful these days. Dreaming much of anything while taking the abundance of drugs presented on account of the magic was an impossibility. An annoyance, and something he couldn't overcome these days.

Nicolas Mindelves

When Damien drew closer, Nicolas didn't dare move but only to sit up when he offered something out to him, to inspect or to take, either way Nicolas stared at the common household snack as if it were a foreign object from outer space. He had listened intently to what the man had to say and still found it hard to believe that he had taken it from his dreams. Did he just wake up with them in his hands? Well, anything is possible. Nicolas was amazed to say the least.

"I guess your dreams really do come true," Nicolas murmured with a half smile, attempting a joke to at least try and make light of the situation. Maybe it wasn't the best idea, Damien didn't seem to happy mentioning it, but if it could lighten what Nicolas felt to me a little heavy of a conversation, then he figured he should try. If he remembered, there was something like that of an inspirational quote, the kind of things teachers hung posters of on their walls and people put bumper stickers on their car, except it was usually summed up in some witty phrase.

When Damien asked what Nicolas was gifted with, he was a little surprised with the term. It was a term his family used and only them alone. Other people tended to look down on him. He'd once even heard the word "curse" from one of his school teachers. Students said he was a witch, which might not have made all that much sense, but kids always had their terms and "witch" was one that stuck with him through the years. Still, although "Gift" might not have been the appropriate word considering where the two of them were, it was a word he was more comfortable with.

"When I touch things, I can see things... like when people die," Nicolas said sadly, swallowing hard as he remembered his former classmate, Amanda. Then, he looked up at Damien with a question to be asked that sort of confused him. "If you can do that sort of stuff why don't you steal a tank or a bunch of weapons to leave? Or is that not allowed?" It made sense enough to him and with a naive mind, it only seemed right to ask such a question.

Kano - Hallway

Kano was both surprised and grateful when the red haired hot head agreed to go with him. Kano of all people. The man who just made her think she was about to die, then offered her a candy bar and openly hit on her. She was now perfectly willing to follow him to who knows where. Maybe she was the crazy one. When he heard the girl say 'I'm in' Kano shot a smile back at her while waiting for her to catch up. Once she had caught up to him, Kano fished a candy bar from his pocket and tossed it to the red head. "Here. I hope you like milk chocolate." Kano took one last looking over his shoulder back at the crowd, taking note of every face he could see. "Looks like your not the only cute one Red."

A small chuckle followed after his comment about how many cute girls were locked within these walls with Kano. What a creep. Before Kano could say anymore his ears perked to the sound of the speaker crackling. He put his finger over his lips and made a hushing sound at the red head. A woman spoke though the speakers, telling that someone had already bit the dust for using there powers. She then decided to make a comment about how they saw all. Once the speaker had turned off Kano yelled into the walls. "Like what ya see perverts?" All the while striking a sexy pose. Or at least tried his hardest to pull off a sexy pose. Really all he did was put his hands behind his head and try to accentuate his admittedly good looking butt.

With that whole scene done Kano continued walking with the red head keeping up in kind. As they walked the hallways a yawn escaped his mouth.
"So Red. What are ya in for? Murder, theft, promiscuous sex? Crossing my fingers for that last one honestly." Kano was only joking, not that his tone really made that obvious.

@Stamper (Sorry.)

Damien Lynch

The smallest of laughs escaped his parted lips at the small joke. He hadn't head it before, which made it all the better. Perhaps his roommate wouldn't be the worst after all. To think, Damien had been worried that due to the boy's youth, he'd make a hellion of a roommate. Damien was very much pleased with this development, this wouldn't be a seriously bad situation. Well, no worse than it already was. Of course, it was harder for things to get much worse where the Rehabilitation Center was concerned. Nicolas was, as far as Damien was concerned, not a problem. He might even be a friend, of course that was to be seen. It was hard to tell.

"Rough stuff, kiddo. I imagine seeing people die isn't an easy thing." He didn't need to imagine, all the way at least. He'd had enough experience with the concept. Although, it was likely different to know the person, or worse, see someone actually die. The only death he'd seen in the nineteen years of life was his own, well, in a way. A dream thing come from the abyss that was his mind. He was glad to know in a way, that the drugs kept that portion of his brain sedated thoroughly. Although, it was never any fun nowadays. Without the thrill of making forgeries, things so realistic they might as well have been pulled right out of the factories they'd been made in.

The question seemed to puzzle him for a second before a bark of laughter escaped his mouth. "If it were that easy believe me, I'd be gone. The problem is, my whole power doesn't work much these days. I'm drugged out of my skull half the day, hence why I don't go hang with the locals. That, paired with the inability to pull out anything that I don't understand totally. Or anything massive. I can do switchblades. Or used to be able to do them. Like I said, can't do anything these days." Scratching the side of his head, he offered up a small grin in response. He was trying to play everything off as cool and fine, avoid upsetting the slightly positive mood that had bloomed in the small shared room.

Alex clasped his hands together and examined who was present at this moment. Three people. That's it? He was sure there was more, three more to be exact. Though they all probably left onto their own endeavours, and they're all probably making better use of their time. Three people that introduced themselves. Or rather, two that introduced themselves and a person who introduced himself to one of the ladies in the small group. Worst case scenario, Alex would have to talk independently with Danielle. Not that it was going to be something bad, rather, something that limited Alex's knowledge of everyone else.

Two attractive ladies, and Max. Seems like a good start to my expanding list of friendships. Maybe I'll add that redhead and that other blonde guy if I bump into them.

The thoughts satisfied him. It was better to make friends than enemies; something that was just well, common knowledge. "Danielle... Morgana... And Max," Alex began, pointing at each person individually as he said their names. Now putting his hands in a neutral position, he gave a smile and continued with what he was saying. "Nice meeting you all! I... expected a larger crowd to linger, but oh well. For all of eternity, we shall be known as 'Team DAMM'!" Alex finished, going into a righteous position. It only took a few seconds for Alex to realize what had just come out of his mouth, and he went into a tense position. "Nevermind! Team DAMM is a bad mnemonic. Unless you guys have any better ideas," He said at a pace faster than usual. Upon a few seconds, Alex managed to make a fool out of himself. An impressive feat, in his standards at least. The only thing Alex could hope for at the moment however, is that these people are not sensitive people.

Horikawa.Kunihiro.full.1855135.jpg
Rough might not have been the word Nicolas would use to describe it, or rather, not what he saw anyway. It was startling yes, but not so rough. What was rough was how people reacted to it and how, by being how he was, made it inconvenient for his family. It was rough when the other kids in school, and even the teachers, were afraid of you. But he knew it could have been worse and if anyone knew rough, it was probably Damien. He was in the same situation Nicolas was in and it seemed he had been through it longer. Nicolas felt a mix of pity and respect for Damien.

He was a bit relieved to see that instead of being offended, Damien had a sense of humor. He even smiled and that was something Nicolas figured he would hardly see in a place like this, or at least not from the other residents. The staff tended to smile, he noticed, but it wasn't an authentic, warm smile. It felt fake to him, like the kind of smiles mannequins wore in clothing stores to try and make the customer believe the mannequins looked more realistic. Really, it just served to make them look a lot more creepy and even less "human". Same went for the people working here.

That being said, Nicolas was equally surprised when Damien gave a hearty laugh. Well, his question now sounded a little dumb, now that Damien had gone into a little bit of detail about his gift. Nicolas wondered if that was something people who knew about these powers was supposed to know or maybe if everyone asked the same question. But he did get to know a bit more about it. Nicolas might have thought that power sounded preferable but he stopped himself. No, nothing was preferable if it got someone in here. Not to mention, he couldn't truly know unless he had it. The insensitive thought brought on a bit of guilt inside of him and he thought of some

Well, since Damien seemed to be a well advised individual, and since many kids looked up to the older folk for questions they didn't know the answer to, Nicolas asked, "Do you know much about this place? I mean if they are going to give us clothes and food?" Did they do experiments on us like in some sci-fi films he had seen? He didn't ask that one out loud knowing that one was probably dumb. But he wouldn't completely write off the possibility either.

Nila Ranis

1CY5joJ.jpg
Nila gratefully took the candy bar with a muttered "thanks" and tore it right open. She'd been pretty damn hungry up until now, and despite the filling qualities of chocolate, she hoped the staff of this facility were courteous enough to feed their new pets. She might have wanted to ask where he had found it and try to go back later for food but was distracted when he used the term "cute one". Instead of the fiery retort she might have used against him, she just rolled her eyes and occupied her mouth with another bite of chocolate.

Shortly after the announcement, Nila wanted to say something a little insulting about the staff in hopes they could hear her but Kano beat her to it in a slightly different sort of way. She chuckled a bit and covered her mouth with her hand. There was something Nila enjoyed about stupid, silly humor. It was probably because she was around a lot of drunkards who quite obviously didn't care about the opinions of others judging by the acts they committed. Now that she thought of it... hadn't she heard that name in the crowd of people. Damn, he must have worked fast if he managed to commit some sort of crime worthy of that punishment. Despite the announcement, Nila was still completely on board for using her abilities if it came down to it.

Oh, great. That wonderful question Nila hated to answer. Her mouth settled into a flat line and she debated on actually telling him. While it was usually easy to guess those that probably shouldn't know that type of information, it was hard to tell with Kano. A part of her wondered if he had done about the same thing. And still, In Nila's mind, she hadn't done something the police might not have done later. "No, not sex, you perv," Nila said, lightly slapping the side of his head as a sort of scolding. She rolled her eyes and folded her arms. "It was murder, but don't go around sharing that information." Nila paused for a moment. "What about you?"
