Fantasy What We Do In The Shadows

Moonflight said:
The two twins, Kathleen and Aaron, had arrived together in an unnoticeable black car each carrying a bag with a few changes of clothes and very little personal effects. They both had a certain look about them and the reason for that look was their mother who had turned them in. Both siblings sat together during the orientation very quietly.
When the orientation was over, both Kathleen and Aaron had walked towards the door together until the guards came to separate them. Neither resisted because they feared for what might happen to the other. With a hug and a few parting words, "Don't resist it. Please don't get hurt." each picked up a piece of paper that had the room assignments on them, and headed off.

Kathleen's heart hurt as she was forced from her brother and moved towards her room. She looked back to her brother to see him looking back at her. Both gave each other a small smile, but each knew better than to believe they were happy. When she came to her door, Kathleen took a deep breath, knocked and entered the room. It was, simply speaking, a prison cell. She looked around the room slightly shaking and saw her roommate. "Hello there." She called out softly.

Aaron looked back to see his sister slightly shaking and turned back with a hard resolve. He would only tolerate this place because his sister had asked it of him. Otherwise, he wouldnt have stood it. He set forward towards his room to put his stuff in it. Then he would go find his sister and make sure she was okay. He found his room and did just that. Then he headed out to go find his sister.
Riley turned from where she was leaning on the balcony, blinking at Kathleen. "Thought the sheet said I was alone.. Eh. Change of plans, I s'pose. Long as you're decent, well be fine," Riley said, waving at her roommate.

"So, what's your name?" Riley asked, walking inside and closing the door behind her. Deciding she should get to know her roommate, she plopped onto her bed, sitting with her back against the wall.

"I'm.. gonna go. I haven't really got anything to unpack." Opening her small backpack, Sapphire took out another roll of bandaging, an extra set of clothing, and a small box, one that looked like it held jewelry inside. She threw the clothing and bandages on the bed and gently placed the box on the nightstand. Opening the box, Sapphire pulled out a small necklace with a golden charm which she quickly clasped on to her neck. "Cya, kid. Good luck." Sapphire muttered, opening the door and letting it gently shut behind her.

Maybe she'd go look around for Cobalt. But she didn't know what room he was in. She just needed to take a walk to clear her head.

Aria shrugged sheepishly, as if she felt she should have known there wasn't much to do in this stupid place. The fact that there was a pool was a little uplifting, but that was about it. Sapphire suddenly decided to leave, so Aria waved cheerfully.

"Have a nice day, Sapphire!" she replied, laying back on her bed when Sapphire was gone.

"I hate this place.. I just wanna go home.." The memory of her parents' horror at her and Riley's abilities drifted to the front of her mind, and the girl sighed longingly, wishing she'd never been given these abilities. She hated them! She could help with them, but she just wanted things to be normal again..

No. She refused to be weak. Who cares about home? Anywhere but here would do. Aria decided she would escape, one day, no matter what happened.

As Morgana was just about to doze off, her roommate spoke up, snapping her out of her trance-like relaxation. "My cat.. has decided he wants to curl up with you. I hope you don't mind.."

Morgana's eyebrows raised, then she shrugged. "Sure, I suppose? Never met a dead kitty before." Morgana grinned, pretending to pet the air, although she knew she probably wasn't even petting anywhere near where the cat may actually be laying.

'You've never done that before.. Always tried to hurt everyone else. Are you trying to tell me something?' Amaya began thinking, which was interesting to Morgana. She wondered what the young girl was up to, but she pretended like she didn't know anything. Playing stupid was one of Morgana's favorite games.

"Was this your kitty?" Morgana spoke up, watching Amaya's facial expression.

Nila Ranis

1CY5joJ.jpg
It had been hours... days... since Nila had arrived at her room and still no roommate. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration but there wasn't exactly a way to tell time either so Nila could say it was however long she liked. The point was is that she was bored and angry and quite sick of glaring at the wall as if it personally ruined her life. Maybe the wall did ruin her life. In the movies, the evil mastermind was always the one you least expected. So, you know... Fuck that wall.

Well, what use was there sitting around and doing nothing. It wasn't like they locked the doors, there wasn't prison bars and as far as Nila was concerned she could go wherever the hell she wanted to. Standing up and pulling her coat farther up her shoulders since the sleeves liked to dip down, she headed for the door and left the room to go find something else to do.

Wouldn't it be sweet if she found a room full of weapons? Maybe she could break out of this place, start a revolution or something. But since that was just about as likely as them releasing her of their own accord, Nila tried not to get her hopes up. If anything, after wandering the hallways, she hoped to find a place with food. Maybe a vending machine she could kick open or someone who left out a bag of chips. A cafeteria would be even better. The only thing was, she wasn't sure that if they saw her taking a walk, they'd make her go back to her room. It would be splendid if they got the idea after she assaulted the chair because she wasn't afraid to do that to someone either.

As Danielle wandered the halls, she felt a wave of anger wash over her. It masked all the other emotions that were around. She glanced around the room looking for the source. A girl with red hair passed by her, the anger intensified as the girl pushed by her. It was a strong emotion, that was for sure.

@Stamper

(I'm honestly not sure where i'm going with this. :/ )

'I don't think you're that dumb,' Amaya thought. 'But I'll play along.' "He belonged to my family." Morgana didn't seem the type to be unintelligent. Watching her roommate fail at petting the spirit, she shook her head. "He's on your stomach now."

'Shall I push it? See if you're more of an empath or a telepath? Shall I push out images of all the grotesque things the dead have shown me just to see if you, too, can see them? Would you like to see what a severed head actually looks like? What about a spirit? Only the ones who died peacefully look anywhere near their former selves, you know. The others are the stuff of the normal nightmare. Or shall I push out my nightmares to you? Shall I describe in detail every bit of pain, gore, and twisted anatomy my imagination can conjure?'

Though the smile remained in place, making Amaya appear much younger and extremely innocent, her eyes narrowed and she watched to see if Morgana gave any sign of acknowledgement of her thoughts.

Kano - the hallways

It was nicer then he had first thought it would be. The facility that is. Honestly, at first Kano thought that they would just take everyone out back and put them all down. But no, this facility really is set on changing, reforming everyone in it. There are parts of that Kano didn't like, but at the same time it wasn't his place to complain. The only thing he could do is silently resist. Or blow up the school, which sounded vary tempting at the moment to the boy. With his hands in his pockets, Kano staggered down the halls of the facility, bored to no end. "Go to your rooms they said, meet your roommates they said. Wa'da bunch of poo." Kano managed to be the only boy without another roommate, so he decided to skip the go to your room part of the day.

Rather then go to his room, Kano took it upon himself to adventure. But not without a goal. On his adventures he found a few things, including but not limited to: the bathrooms, the trash room, a knocked over vending machine, that Kano stole a candy bar from. Some air vents and a nice little room that said "Keep out". He made a mental note to do exactly the opposite later.

With a satisfactory amount of the facility explored for one day, Kano decided to find his room and sleep for the next four to six days. But hark, low and behold, with wonder filled eyes Kano spotted two females further down the hall. What followed was a ravenous grin, and a purely instinctual activation of his powers. Before either could see him, Kano vanished.

All throughout the hall, running water could be heard. At first it was quiet, but as time quickly passed the rush grow louder and louder. Closer the sound came, ramping up in both intensity and volume as time passed. The ground began to shake, lights hanging from the ceiling flickered on and off. Then, from both ends of the hall, huge torrents of water came. Rushing, beating on the floor and walls and ceiling with great intensity. Closer, closer the raging waters came. Blocking off all exits, the water stampeded towards the two girls. six yards, three yards, one yard it came until the the two were about to be squished in between the walls of white raging water.

"Hello... the name's Kano." A voice, came though as the water was mere inches from hitting the two girls. Following the voice, the water vanished instantly. The lights were still working, and the hallway was perfectly dry. Kano stood before the two girls, sizing them both up, before turning to the red haired one and saying. "Your the cute one. Want some chocolate I stole from a vending machine? You could share it with your friend if you want."

@Stamper @TangledBowties (but I know where I am going with this!)

Danielle hear a loud rumble, almost like rushing water. She turned around. Her eyes widened slightly as she noticed a wave of water only inches away. It instantly disappeared revealing a boy. He had a grin on his face, an air of mischief wafted of of him. It was strong, maybe it was because he was so close. "Hello...the name's Kano." he said. He proceeded to talk to the red haired girl that was next to me. I shifted uncomfortably beside the two.

I began to inch my way back. Wanting to get out of this conversation.

@Stamper

After sitting on his bed with nothing to do except make small talk with Gemma, Cobalt announced he was gonna go explore some. "Wanna come with?" Cobalt asked his ghostly friend. "I'll hang around," She said gently.

Cobalt exited the room. He heard some people talking, a whole crowd in the hallways. "Cobalt, there you are." A voice called to him from behind. "Sapphire!" Cobalt cried excitedly, rushing into the older girl. Sapphire gave a small smile and patted his head. "How's your room? Your roommate okay?" Sapphire asked the boy, hoping he hadn't gotten stuck with someone too rough. Hopefully someone who would look after him. "I haven't met him yet." "Ah. Okay then."

"Let's go talk to those people, Sapphire!"
"Let's not." "Come onnnnnn!" He was getting loud, easily loud enough to be heard by the group. Sapphire frowned. "Lower your voice, okay? You don't know if they're nice." "Well do you know?" "I'm being cautious, is all." "You're always too cautious."

"I bet he was cute. Probably still is. Though that's not my thing." Morgana grinned, still trying to pet the cat that she's unable to see.

Amaya was persistent - threatening Morgana with her thoughts. She was smart, though the threats didn't scare Morgana. She had been through much worse threats, mental abuse and interrogation by the people who were trying to learn more about her telepathy. Poked and prodded. It wasn't a pleasant experience. But Morgana had learned to endure.

Regardless, she felt that Amaya had been persistent enough to tell her. Wouldn't want to torture her poor soul any farther.

Morgana's eyes moved over to Amaya's face. "You know I can't see the imagines in your head, right?" Morgana snickered at the whole show you grotesque things. "I can hear you, but that's about it." Morgana now stared at the ceiling.

"So what's up with the cat?" She questioned, referring to what Amaya had been saying previously - about the cat not liking anyone and now suddenly it's curious.

Nila Ranis

1CY5joJ.jpg
Nila had been walking with her hands in her pockets when she passed by a girl who seemed to give her a weird look. Did Nila look funny? Maybe her hair was ruffled, she was laying in bed after all. Oh well, when did she ever care for the opinions of others? Maybe at some point when she was little but Nila grew out of that quickly.

She had walked about, what, maybe ten feet from the girl when something felt off. A light rumbling sounded and Nila looked around in confusion. What kind of things did they do here? Jeez. It seemed to be getting louder... What? The ground began to rumble and shake, lights flickered, the only thing Nila could conclude was that she was a little afraid and that apparently the place they were at could experience earthquakes. Where she used to live, they did not ever get earthquakes, so she had no idea what to do. You were supposed to stand in a door frame right? Or under a table?

Before she could even figure out that much, humongous waves barreled toward herself and the girl she had passed. Oh, Tsunamis now? Was this some sort of sick joke? Was this god forsaken area natural disaster central? "What the hell?" Nila asked, a look of frustration and horror on her face. And finally, a question that should have occurred to her before the water was only a few feet away: Were they about to die? Probably. Nila sure as hell couldn't swim. She never enjoyed it much when she was younger and only went to the beach to lay out in the sand. If anything, being soaked was one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world.

And just as she closed her eyes and raised her hand over her face as some sort of shield, which, now that she thought about it, wouldn't have worked to well, the water froze in place and... somebody spoke from behind it. Kano? Did that wave of water just talk to her? Was she supposed to extend her hand into the water and shake some sort of invisible hand?
"My name is Nila, nice to meet you, Mr. Wave!" Psh, no way... But then the water disappeared and a boy replaced it. He looked like one of the guys at her school that used to take pleasure in egging professors cars and drawing suggestive things on people's faces when they were drunk and passed out.

And then, as if things couldn't get any more... hectic? Terrible? There wasn't a proper word to describe it, but this Kano-Boy called her cute and offered her candy. Yes, Nila did enjoy candy, maybe a little too much but... Well, the next part came instinctively. Number one: He either almost drowned the two of them or tried to make them think he did. Number two: He openly hit on her. For a reason she could not grasp, the way he did it made her angry. Like it would be that easy to win her heart, but then again, not many actually tried. And number three: Nila was in a horrid mood today so... the first thing she did was clench her fist, draw it back and aim straight for his nose. It was a fast jab, as if she was startled and her expression was angry but bothered. Nila was mean, but she usually didn't just hit people in the face! She's not
that bad!

@Rantos @TangledBowties

"Oh." It was laced with disappointment. She'd always hoped telepaths could see the images one imagined. The fact that it wasn't true was frustrating, but a frustration that didn't change much.

"Well, that's unfortunate." She shrugged. "Little bugger's the reason I'm in here." Amaya laughed, though it was slightly bitter. "He's my only friend, though. I can't be mad at him." Raptor looked up at her, seemingly worried. "Yes, I'm talking about you." Like any cat, he either didn't understand or didn't care, instead nuzzling into the pets he couldn't feel. She shook her head.

It bothered her that Raptor was cozying up to the roommate, but she wouldn't say anything about it. After all, there was no hiding thoughts from Morgana so she had little choice but to trust her.

"Jerk had to go and die so... I brought him back." The memories from that night didn't bother her anymore. She could tell her roommate had likely gone through a lot more test than she and likely knew much more about different kinds of pain. Being from a wealthy family had probably saved Amaya from the pain of other research facilities. Wealthy families liked to keep their secrets hidden. Like now. She wasn't sent off to the Rehabilitation center, no. She was at a finishing school. At least, that was the line her mother fed the others of high society.

Kyle watching the girl punch the dude in the face, "Jesus.." He muttered to himself, "What the hell did I watch?" He said, it was sad but also kind of cool, 'Should I interfere?' he thought. No, he did not instead he walked up and introduced himself, "Hey.. my name's Kyle... that was one helluva punch." He stated to girl, "Though.. I don't think you would punch someone for no reason." He presumed, "You aren't crazy... not... not like me atleast."

The girl had punched him. Danielle wasn't sure what it was, maybe all the different swirling emotions? Maybe she was sick of holding it all in? The next thing she knew she started laughing. At first it was a short laugh, nothing too loud. Then she couldn't contain it and began laughing even more. She put her hand to her mouth trying to smother it. Taking in a deep breath she tried to compose herself. She took in the scene before her, another boy had approached them.

'Recreational Center'. What a boring name for a boring place. There was nothing of interest to Alex in this facility. That, or there's a secret arcade room he hasn't heard of yet. If such a room existed, Alex would take what he thought back. "To the dorms," They said. "Meet your roommate!" They continued. Alex had no interest in such commands. He had healing powers! He should just waltz out of here, and take all the punishment they gave. Wasn't like they could kill him anyways. The only thing that stopped him from doing this was the fact that he would be a wanted felon. The fact felt ironic to Alex. The people owning this facility should be arrested for bringing innocent people here against their will.

These thoughts wouldn't change his current predicament, and he would need to get used to this place. Setting off to who knows where, Alex wished he had something like matter manipulation it just spin around tiny pieces of concrete to pass the time. But no, instead, he has healing. What can he do with that? Grab a knife and stab himself for fun? Doesn't seem like an ideal passtime.

Running water. Faint, but Alex could still hear. He payed barely any attention to this, for it was probably a sound that happened commonly. Then, it got louder. After a few seconds, it felt like there was going to be a flood. On the outside, Alex looked calm and looked as if he was carrying on with his usual business. Inside however, he was slightly panicked. The lights flicked off, which gave Alex one thought. This is bad.

From both ends of the hall, water was spewing out at a rapid rate. The fact that the water needed a place of origin didn't cross through his mind, and he braced himself. Death by drowning, not the most ideal way to go. Until, the lights flickered on. And with the lights, there was no water. Some person using some sort of hallucinatory power no doubt. Alex could still feel his chest thumping, adrenaline still pumping through his veins. Deep breaths, He thought. He just needed to compose himself, and everything would be fine. With that thought, everything was fine. No danger, no water.

In the distance, a group of people could be visible. All of them could be shaken by this event, though one of them might be the cause of this. Walking over to them, anger fuelled him. Alex didn't know why such an emotion was processing, though he didn't question it. Opening his mouth to talk, his premature speech was interrupted by a redhead punching some other person.

Woah! What was up with that? Shouldn't get on her bad side.

Alex kept moving his mouth, though no words came out. He was astonished by this event. It wasn't as if he hadn't seen anyone getting punched in the face, in fact, he was sometimes that guy getting punched. Alex didn't know what to say, and he started sputtering nonsense until he regained composure.

"Wha-? I-? B-..."

Words you fool! Speak words!

"Are you okay!?" He said over to the person who got punched.

"I could tell him to shoo, if that helps any?" Morgana could feel the disappointment from Amaya. Although Morgana hadn't intentionally taken her kitty, it was lingering for some odd reason. Morgana couldn't see it, so it wasn't real for her. But she could hear how real it was for Amaya.

"Making friends when you are different is hard. I know all too well. In school, no one was like me, or like you. Or any variation. The whole town was normal. That's why the doctors didn't catch on until it was too late. My carelessness got me caught." Morgana shrugged. "I could have rebelled. I could have ran. But it's just easier to admit defeat. Less energy spent on worrying about running away from the problem." She added.

Outside in the hallway, voices could be heard. Morgana knew they weren't just in her head, because she could feel the vibrations of some shouting as well as other shenanigans, through her bed frame. She wondered what was going on, but she wasn't sure she wanted to get up to go find out. The less staff and guards that she had to deal with, the better.

Morgana closed her eyes, focusing on the voices farther than Amaya. Searching for names. Amongst their thoughts, she picked out their names.

Nila. Kano. Danielle. Kyle. Alex.

She could learn more if she tried. But wouldn't it just be more fun to go chat with them? She grinned to herself.

Morgana got up and walked over to the door, opening it and standing in the door way. She watched the small group converse - she looked over her shoulder to Amaya, motioning her to come along to meet the others.

Morgana approached the group and greeted them all by name.

She shook her head. "No, I just... don't understand. He's not gone to anyone else in years." Amaya almost laughed at the mention of school. "You got to leave your house? I've spent the last 6 years in a ten by ten attic room."

Then the telepath stood. Quickly. Amaya glared at the treatment of her cat. "Hey!" Not that it hurt him. Raptor didn't seem to care, or mind, instead trotting back over to her. Sighing, she decided to go along with her roommate's inane plan.

Her cat's spirit rode on her shoulder as she walked out to stand a bit behind her roommate, leaning against the wall. 'Shit. I think I'm going to faint if this keeps up...' She could feel the room beginning to spin. They hadn't yet been fed, but she assumed it wouldn't be any better than what her family used to give her.

As Morgana greeted the group, Amaya waved. She managed to keep her pleasant expression. "Hello." Curse the telepath for being a friendly girl. She could tell she'd get dragged into socialization more often than she'd like due to Morgana. Raptor purred and rubbed against her cheek. If the others weren't there she would've chastised him for agreeing with the idea of socialization, as it was she got ready to exchange pleasantries.

She rested her head on her hand.

"Riley," was the redhead's reply. She slid down the wall until she was laying on her side and let out a yawn. She hadn't gotten much sleep during the drive, which meant it'd been nearly a day since she had slept.

"Don't classes start tomorrow or something weird?" Riley asked, shifting so she could lay on her back and stare at the ceiling. She decided she hated this place already, from the wall down to the bed she was laying on. It was nothing like the massive pile of blankets she had at home..

Damien Lynch

The quiet that again seeped into the room was deep enough to leave him feeling strange, tired. Not tired in the sense that he considered sleeping, but tired in the sense that emotionally he was exhausted. Emotionally, he was almost always exhausted on account of the current living situation. It was hard to be emotionally rested these days. For Damien, it was hard to be rested at all. There was no way that he could properly rest ever. They didn't allow for it. It was protocol, and he understood it. As much as he hated it, he understood it. Sleep was a dangerous thing when with the right amount of work, he could wake up with a loaded pistol. He was curious as to if he could recall how to make anything worthwhile. He hadn't the slightest clue if he was still in the game.

Glancing over the boy that rested on the other side of the room, he was curious. What did he do? Had he wound up here because he was dangerous? When Damien had been in cuffs they'd made it very clear they viewed him as a menace. Of course he was a menace, a homegrown drug dealer with a supply that never ended. Of course, he couldn't ever export too much from his dreams. Doing such things had left him sick. Very, very, sick. He'd been in and out of sleep for a few days after his first admittance into a rehabilitation center. He'd attempted to dream up an escape vehicle after studying cars for a week solid. Now, Damien had an outstanding book ban, and a constant dosage of medication coming his way. There was a point in his life he would've loved the idea. Now he was chafing under the thought of captivity.

It was easy to chafe in a facility like this. While it was an expansion, something larger than the one before, it was still a prison. Judging by the freedom offered up to most of the residents in the building, he assumed that everyone here fell under the categories of 'people that couldn't make it over the walls.' Mind manipulators, probably. Maybe some of the others, but he was willing to bank on quite a few people that were all sorts of great at diving into the minds of others. Damien was generally lacking in fear of a majority of them, but anything dealing with fire left him flinching. "Dream theft." He finally says, glancing over. He has no idea if the boy even has an idea as to what this means.

Jackie and Jace were exploring the town that they had come to a week ago. They had both settled in relatively easily as well as attended classes with relative ease. They were finally settling in at their new prison and the only thing they were thankful for was the new amount of space. @anyone

Kano - The hallways

For a first meeting, everything went surprisingly well. At least well in Kano's eyes. He got a pretty looking girl to react in fear of incoming death. It took nearly all of his strength to not laugh at her. Kano managed to hold back the laugh, but the smile was something else. That big toothy grin that Kano wore so well. From cheek to cheek, the bottom half of his face was almost completely occupied by the sick smile. What came next was to only be expected from this kind of situation. A quick, but strong, anger fueled punch found it's way right to Kano's nose. The hit was really only strong enough to stagger Kano, but why stop there.

When the girl's fist had made contact, Kano over exaggerated the hit. Sending himself flying backwards in a vary convincing manor. Convincing enough to make anyone else think the girl had just hit him like a truck. While Kano was flying though the air, a voice, masculine and sounding like it belongs to an announcer, came from all sides.

"K-O!"

The voice reverberated though the halls and finally dissipated as soon as there was a thud sound from Kano's rough landing. For a second, Kano thought about taking it a step further, but the current scene was already attracting enough people. "Whoo boy! You really do pack a punch Red! Color me impressed to say the least." Now others starting gathering as well to watch the show. "Buddy. The only crazy one here is me." Kano said to the boy that made a remark on the red haired girl's reason for punching Kano.

Finally, someone actually came over to help Kano. Another boy came over asking him if he was okay. Kano nodded his head as he used the boy's body, without permission, to get back up.
"I'm fine, thanks sweetie." Kano said just before placing his puckered lips on the boy's cheek. "Keep up those good deeds and there will be more where that came from." Now there was a whole group people seemed to gather like flys to a dead body, or at least like a bunch of young adults to a fight.

Kano put his hands away within the depths of his pockets and walked over to the red haired girl. Kano walked by, only slowing down to speak but not stopping completely. "Too many people here for me. I'ma split like a banana. You in?"

Carlton Raines

Carlton sat motionlessly in his seat, appearing attentive for all intents and purposes, though his mind was elsewhere.

"They can cure you Carl. Don't you worry about a thing." Reassuring words, but they were accompanied by choked sobs as his mother hugged him close. She probably knew then, that she wouldn't be seeing her son again for years. It was for the best. After all, this accursed power had left him weak and fragile when he should have been at the peak of his youth. Her arms encircled gingerly around his back, for it seemed like his frame would break to pieces with any sudden movement. Gold that had since lost its shine stared back from dark hollows. "I'll be back soon, mom. Promise."

Two years now. No end in sight. This was his second correctional facility, though Carlton didn't expect it to be much different from the first one. Three rubs of the wishbone, three rubs of the three-leafed clover (four was unlucky), three rubs of the horseshoe. Three. Three. Three. He fingered the charms on his key ring with a smile. This time he'd walk out cured, give or take a year or so. Picking up the duffel bag, he began a careful walk to the exit. One, two, three. One, two, three.

There was a commotion going on in the hallway, an unexpected obstacle to his path. One, two, three. His confident steps tapered off into shuffles until he came to a standstill, a little ways from the group. Something was already going wrong on the first day -- it was probably the influence of the dark menacing cloud that still followed him from the nightmares. If he didn't breathe, it would leave without harming him.

Carlton stilled, allowing a few moments to pass before he let out a sigh of relief. Better stay quiet in case it came back. He noticed the two people who were also uninvolved at the moment, one of whom was kicking up a fuss over something or the other. The strangely white haired boy was around his own age when he'd first been admitted, though the boy seemed far more spirited than he had been. Carlton wouldn't want him to be harmed. "Shhh. What's going on there?" He spoke in a whisper, gesturing towards the group of people. A pause, before the folly of his action set in. Number one rule in his book was to vet the people around him before he interacted with them.

"Say… None of you would happen to be a telepath, right?"

Nila Ranis

Okay, Nila couldn't help it. The kid had a sense of humor. She gave a small laugh and realized that she softened pretty quickly. The smile faded and she cleared her throat as if to pass it off as something that really didn't matter or perhaps a simple accident. Still, it was pretty funny. Burying her hands in her jacket pockets, she glanced around and came to a sickeningly realization.

There was far too many people for Nila's liking. They were crowding around and seemed to be sucking all the oxygen from the air around them. She expected to fall over from suffocation at any moment. Where did they even come from? Did they all have some sort of teleportation ability? Because that would be annoying as hell. Suppressing a groan, she realized someone had spoken to her. She turned to the male and tried to think of how to respond to what he said. Crazy like him? Woah, slow down boy. Nila may have been a little crazy when it came to anger management but she wasn't crazy like kill- Okay, she wasn't crazy like serial killer crazy.

"I don't know how to respond to that," She said to him flatly.

And then, speaking of crazy, a girl wandered over and greeted everyone in turn by saying their name. "I don't know you." Nila said, a little bothered by how this girl knew her name. Did she know her? Maybe met her somewhere before? Nila did technically meet a lot of people but never cared enough to keep relationships with any of them. Let's see, on the list of possible powers that's Crazy-Illusion-Magic, Name-Knowing, Teleportation... No big deal. None of those were too threatening but the Crazy-Illusion-Magic managed to scare the shit out of her so she'd say that was the most intimidating so far.

Even though she punched Kano in the face, he was surprisingly the one that would probably be easiest to get along with if she thought about it and he mentioned a way out of this freak show thing going on.

"I'm in."

Nicolas Mindelves

Silence. Moments like this were for falling asleep, listening the increasingly loud tick of a clock, if there was one, and for some, going insane. Silence was for thinking. Silence was for relaxing. Silence was filling. When Damien spoke again, Nicolas looked over at him, confused by his words. Dream theft? Maybe he was crazy after all? But Damien didn't look crazy, in fact, he was a lot better than Nicolas had expected a roommate to be. But now, there was something Nicolas couldn't quite respond to.

"I don't know what that means," Nicolas said sadly with an underlining hint of panic as if he had failed an important test.

Nicolas tried to wrack his brain quickly for the proper answer or what "Dream theft" was. Obviously it was stealing and it related to dreams. Did he steal others dreams? Was he accusing Nicolas of stealing his own dreams. He would never steal! As the seconds ticked by, Nicolas realized he had lost any possibility of redemption. Redemption from what? He didn't really know himself. Appearing intelligent maybe. Keeping up a back and forth conversation? Proving they were on the same level? Why did it matter? Nicolas did not know the answer to this question either.

Perhaps it was he that was going crazy. Maybe he was already crazy and that was why he was here. Or maybe Nicolas was dreaming and that was what Damien was trying to tell him. Soon, Nicolas would wake up and the sun would be shining through his window. He would be able to smell the aroma of pancakes, the ones his mother almost always made in the morning for him and his siblings. Then he would go to school.

He closed his eyes and when he opened them, he was still in the same place. That fact almost made him want to cry, scream, and beat the walls down. But instead of doing any of thought, instead of betraying his sporadic and insane thoughts, he kept the same expression on his face and snuck a glance at Damien.

Both heads turned to face the new voice. Sapphire looked rather incredulously at the new person, as if he dare interrupt their conversation. Cobalt, however, broke into a smile. "We don't have any idea at all. Looks like they're getting upset at each other though!" The young boy happily announced. Sapphire sighed. There was no helping this kid. "I told you to keep your voice down," Sapphire grumbled. "Sorry." Cobalt said, quieter now.

"Say… None of you would happen to be a telepath, right?"

Cobalt looked at the young man with a confused expression on his face. "I don't think so. But Sapphire can do illusions!" "Cobalt!" Sapphire hissed. "What?" "You're not supposed too.. uhg. Just forget it." Sapphire muttered.

"Sorry about him."
Sapphire muttered. "Why do you need a telepath?"

There seemed to be a silent exhalation, a loosening of Carlton's expression. No telepaths here. Good. Not that any of them should be using their powers in the facility anyway, but it was always hard to tell with telepaths. Just as he was lulled into a sense of relaxation, the Sapphire girl threw him a curve ball in the form of an unexpected question.

"Uh… It's nothing, really. But… tell me if you've met any telepaths."

"I'm afraid of them." Saying it out loud trivialized his fear, made it sound silly even, although it was anything but. The thought of a stranger who could see and feel to the very bottom of his heart without even having to know his name-- it was terrifying. How could the others NOT be wary of them?

"Also, I know you might be tempted to, but don't break the rules." Usually, Carlton didn't care either way when it came to others that were admitted, but Cobalt seemed to be a nice boy. It would be a shame if the facility did to him what it had done to so many others. "And stay away from the troublemakers, even if they tell you that they can escape." Escape was nigh impossible and in the two years he'd been in the system, he'd seen all sorts of plans ranging from the well thought-out to the desperate.
