Realistic or Modern We'll Get Through This Together

Xavier looked over at Vinaya and nodded before walking into the main room where everyone else was. "I smelled it, but I don't think it's coming from outside. It's from in the kitchen," he said and pointed over his shoulder at said room. Though he couldn't tell at all what it was, Xavier figured that it probably wasn't that big of a deal. He was still curious about the smell and asked, "What is it anyways? Did someone burn something on the stove or not take the trash out?"

Cassie immediately went to the kitchen after Xavier's words and smelt the air a little more, her stomach beginning to feel like a pit. "It's... It's not food. No way." Her eyes widened in realization and she felt sick and ran to the stove, "It's gas." She backed away just in time when the stove burst into flames, and she yelped. She looked around anxiously for a fire extinguisher, but there was none to be found. The fire had consumed the whole oven in a matter of seconds and Cassie backed right into the others in fear.
(Did this RP die already? Or is everyone just busy?)
It's still on, everyone was just having a busy weekend!

Tommy, who had been quiet as they smelled for the source of the odor, stepped into action as the oven erupted in flames. He quickly put himself between Cassie and the fire and looked at her, "Grab everyone, get out, check every room in this apartment then get out, I'll check a few of the ones near by and look for the others, but go, now." He gave her a gently push and looked toward Vinaya, he figured she'd be the other calm one in this group, and they needed leaders.

"Go."

Cassie felt panicked and rushed to the living room and picked up her few belongings and looked around at the others, eyes wide. This can not be happening...! She looked at the others praying they'd follow behind her then ran past the kitchen to the door. From a quick glimpse, she saw the fire was starting to spread along the wall. This place was going to come down. Cassie was sure the others knew that as well. She bolted out the door before the knob could get hot and left it open. She had no idea where everyone else was, and worry clenched her heart. She quickly made her way down the halls, and a slight thought in the back of her head reminded her of the stairs Xavier injured himself on, and she made a mental note to watch out for those.

Issac ran into the kitchen, seeing the fire. He looked around, his mind working overdrive to find a way to halt the fire's blazing advance. However, he found none. He heard Tommy's statement, and nodded, turning and running from the room, shouting to the people in the main room about the fire. "Leave your belongings!" Issac shouted, "Your lives are more important! Get out now!" he ordered, running through the hallways, checking rooms for any sign of their friends.

Xavier literally jumped when the fire started, a slight panic setting in and freezing him to the spot. He could feel the heat of the flames already, and was running through all the information he'd ever read about fires. One thing stuck out in his mind and that was that the stove was gas, and gas was explosive. Very explosive. Finally snapping out of it Xavier ran and grabbed his backpack of stuff, grabbing a bandana and quickly tying it around the lower half of his face. Taking off he ran after Cassidy and caught her by the arm right before she stepped through a bad stair. "Come on. There's a fire escape over here," he said and pulled her towards a window. Sure enough, a metal fire escape was attached to the side of the building. He opened the window and held it up for the others, glancing back around the smoke filled hall nervously.

Issac turned, heading back to the main room, he had found no one in his search, and he might as well tell the others that. He was about to enter the main room, when he noticed the fire was quickly devouring it. He stopped for a moment, just in time, as an old burning beam fell in front of him, blocking the path. I almost died! he thought to himself, slightly panicking. I have to find another way! He turned, running back through the hallway he had come down.

Cassie had gratefully looked at Xavier for a moment before she stepped though the stairs. After she looked at the fire escape nervously then quickly got out onto it, looking back at the others scared. She hoped everyone was there, because she would never forgive herself if this fire took the life of one of her friends. She quickly moved down the fire escape all the while noticing the fire was starting to take over the building. She heard sirens in the distance and the pit in her stomach grew more, "We have to get out of here!" She screamed back at the others.

As Aspen neared the apartment, he could smell something strange. Hmm, kind of smells like smoke. That's odd. He rounded a corner, and suddenly knew where the smell was coming from. His eyes widened and mouth dropped open. Holy sh*t, the whole building's on fire! He hesitated for only a moment, before realizing that some of his friends were still probably inside. Sirens could be heard approaching quickly, but it did nothing to reassure him. I've the were found, they'd most likely be sent back to the orphanage. With little to no though for his own safety, he raced into the building. Immediately, he was engulfed in thick, black smoke and began coughing. He pulled the collar of his shirt up over his mouth and nose, and began searching for the others.

Tommy rounded the corner as Issac did and almost bumped into him. He looked past him for a moment and saw the blocked path, and cursed out loud. He looked at Issac for a moment, "This way." Tommy turned back into the kitchen and went around to a different hallway, out into the main hall. He looked to his left, then right, unsure of where the others went, then decided to go left. He hoped he had chosen correctly for himself and Issac.

Cassie stepped onto the ground and quickly raced away from the building. She stopped a on the other side of the street, and looked at everyone. She didn't even know where most of them were. She felt like breaking down right there and crying, but couldn't. Making a scene would only attract eyes towards them. They already risked discovery, for there were many observers watching the fire from the street with fear. Cassie saw the firetruck whiz by and stop, and they started spraying the building quickly. She wanted to run up to them to tell them that there were people inside, to tell them they needed help. That risked discovery however. Cassie took one heartbeat to make her decision then started towards the fire fighters quickly. Their lives were more important than their freedom at this moment.

Issac nodded, following Tommy, "I hope you have some idea where you're going!" Issac shouted, following quickly behind Thomas. Is Cassie alright? He thought to himself worriedly as he ran. She's fine. She's a smart person, she'll get through this. He reassured himself, before turning left, following Tommy into the hallway. Suddenly, the stove's gas finally ignited, and it exploded. A deafening boom roared through the entire apartment complex, so loud it could be heard blocks away. The force of the blast effecting the building through Issac off his feet, and into the wall. He fell to the ground, smoke obscuring his vision. He got up weakly, coughing out a few drops of blood as he did so. He shook his head, trying to get his panicking thoughts into order. But there was only one clear thought in the madness, SURVIVE.

He continued running, but the smoke and dust from the explosion, and the heavily damaged building prevented him from seeing very far.

The old, blazing apartment's strength began failing, as it began cracking, and creaking, signaling it's impending doom. Several glass windows exploded into shards from the pressure, sending transparent shards of death flying. The smoke from the building rose high into the sky, visible throughout the city. The fire fighters focused their efforts on preventing the fire from spreading to the surrounding buildings, as the apartment wasn't really worth saving.

When the explosion occurred Tommy looked back for Issac and was able to see him get up through the smoke. He waited for him for a moment and continued to try and lead them to safety. As they ran Tommy heard a crack and felt the floor sag, he turned around and pushed Issac to the floor just before the ground gave way under Tommy, he fell through, into what looked like a pit of flames.

As Aspen heard the creaking of the building signaling that they had to get out or they might die, he gave up not having found any of the others. He turned and raced back towards the exit, hard to find in the billowing smoke and blazing flames. The entire time, he prayed that the others had made it out since he hadn't found any of them inside. Just as the building collapsed, he made it out to the street where the firefighters were trying to save the surrounding buildings. He spotted Cassie moving towards the firefighters and his first thought was that they'd get caught. But his worries about the others were worse than staying away from the orphanage, so he followed her, but not planning to stop her.

Cassie heard the loud boom from the explosion and she felt like she was going to throw up. She nearly ran into a firefighter and with tears streaming down her face she screamed, "There are people in there!" The firefighter looked at her for less than a second then he and a few others ran inside the building in search for the others. She didn't know if they were going to live. Cassie sunk to the ground watching the firefighters work and she couldn't comprehend what was happening anymore. In the back of her mind she realized that Aspen was with her, and the slightest amount of relief filled her. She looked up at him, probably appearing as an emotional wreck. She tried to tell him through her eyes that she knew Tommy and Issac weren't out yet. She looked away and buried her face in her arms, crying.

goldcat16471 updated We'll Get Through This Together with a new update entry:

More Members?

Hey guys! I was wondering if I should possibly make this rp accepting sign-ups again? Just for a couple characters. I was thinking this because we have officially lost one female character (Kira) and another (Ava I believe) has never joined in. Otherwise for the most part, I'm pretty sure the rest of us are still in. So, I just wanted your opinions about this, to see what you guys think. If we do, we could have the characters join in as either two more teens who escaped the orphanage right...

Aspen reached Cassie, breathing heavily, just as she sunk to the ground. Her face was streaked with ash and tears, she was a wreck. But he understood completely, after all he'd heard her shout that there were people in there. And her tears and the desperate look in her eyes told him enough, that their friends were inside. Unlike her however, he didn't feel like breaking down and crying, he felt numb. Everything seemed to move in slow motion, the firefighters fast but purposeful movements, the flames licking the sky, the billowing black smoke. He knelt beside Cassie and put and arm around her shoulders, letting her know without words that he was there for her if she wanted to cry. Watching the apartment from their spot on the ground, he desperately prayed that their friends would be alright.

"Tommy!" Issac shouted, seeing him fall into the flames. Issac began feeling the floor he was lying on begin to slide backwards, towards the hole. A large chunk of wall fell into it, but the corner of it landing on Issac's leg, crushing it. He shouted out in pain, and turned, attempting to push the heavy material off of him. He pushed it off, and sighed with relief, before the chunk of floor he was lying on crumbled and collapsed, and he fell down, and he felt more pain than he'd ever felt before, and found himself unable to move as the ash and dust began covering him. He took in a deep breath, as his face was covered.

Cassie buried her face in Aspen's arms, and she sobbed. She whispered weakly, "When I said I didn't want to deal with the love drama... I didn't mean I wanted them to be killed..." She wasn't directly talking to Aspen. More or less she was talking to some higher power, but at the moment she felt she couldn't believe in anything. She just felt shattered. "I don't want them to die Aspen..." She couldn't watch the apartment anymore. Just hearing the flames was enough to make her want to pass out. She waited to hear some sort of sickening scream, but the fire was too loud to hear over. That's all she seemed to hear. The only thing in the world at the moment was the fire, and her friends. Probably already dead... Cassie sobbed again, clutching Aspen's shirt.

Nico was barely fifty feet away from the building when she heard the explosion. She was knocked off her feet, but she managed to catch herself. Slowly standing back up, she turned hesitantly to see the damage and stood there in shock. She glanced over at the others, her blurry vision only making out Cassie and Aspen. She looked back at the flames and turned away from them. Hanging her head, she walked past the other two and decided not to stop until she was at the nearest street corner.

"We found one!"

"He looks bad. Grab him and get out."

"That sucked... This sucks. Where are we, why do we hurt? What do you remember? Not much. Issac."

"Issac!" Tommy was picked up, he pointed up, "Iss-" he slumped onto the firefighter.

"It's ok Tommy, sleep now, you're safe."

"Upstairs! Go!" The firefighters continue into the building as another helped Tommy out of the building.

"I don't want them to die either," he whispered, closing his eyes. He patted her shoulder as she sobbed into his shoulder, and let her cry. out of the edge of his vision he noticed someone pass by that wasn't a firefighter. He glanced up slightly so as not to disturb Cassie, and spotted Nico's retreating form. He wanted desperately to comfort her, but wondered why she hadn't stopped with them. He was relieved that she was alright, but it only barely lessened his worry for the others.

For the first minute or so, Vinaya was pretty reasonable about the situation. The solution was simple: get out. The only complication was that she needed to get everyone else out because she figured that not everyone might be as collected as she could be, aside from Tommy, from the looks of it. By the time her self-preservation instinct kicked in, however, her exit was blocked by a beam suddenly collapsing in flames. After that shock, Vinaya remembered hearing a series of other loud noises, none of which she was able to make any sense out of before her memory - and cognizance, for that matter - went blank. The next thing she was aware of, she was overhearing voices that she realized sounded familiar, but made no sense, and voices overlapping that that sounded forceful and urgent, maybe. In her own world, it felt as though it took her years to come to this conclusion, like every process she went through was prolonged tenfold. Plus, she couldn't see anything, let alone speak or move. The next thing that occurred to her was something on her face, unfamiliar voices speaking to her - muffled, as though far away and covered by something - but making no sense, and being moved on something that bounced around a bit and caused what she recognized as pain in parts of her body she couldn't locate. After that brief moment, Vinaya's cognizance again faded.

((So, I thought I'd leave it pretty vague for now; what's happening is that she's been hit on the head somehow, heard Tommy calling for Isaac and the paramedics pulling him out, and she was pulled herself from the building on a stretcher, but she's totally out of it.))

Issac remained absolutely silent. Talking or shouting might just get him suffocated. So he sat there silently, feeling the pressure of all the material above him pressing down on his body. This was so sudden.... he thought to himself, Fate can just be so cruel sometimes..... He began feeling an ache throughout his body, and a sharp pain in his lungs. His thoughts became less and less coherent, but he thought of her, wondering if Cassie got out alright or not.

And then, he felt nothing.

Nico sat down against the brick wall and brought her knees to her chest. Everything she cared about was destroyed. After running her fingers through her hair, she wrapped her arms tightly around her legs and started crying.
