Realistic or Modern Welcome to Camp Crystal Pond! Beware of Wendigos

Amelia RoseAmelia then led her campers to the owl cabin, which was a few feet off. The door was painted with a grey owl on it.
"This is us," she said with a hint of cheerfulness in her voice, "I did some cleaning, so you might smell that amazing lemony fresh."
She unlocked the door and the familiar breeze of a/c wafted past her face. She walked in, inviting her campers inside.
"So a quick tour. These are the beds," she pointed at the bunk beds on one side of the cabin, "I brought some furniture so you guys can relax inside and outside, depending on the weather."
She pointed at the living room style set up that faced the front door, "Every Friday, we are going to roast some s'mores and hot dogs outside, unless it rains, then we go inside and I can bring out my portable cooker. I brought chili. Is anyone vegan or vegetarian?" She turned around and looked at her campers.

"Hey Amelia?" Jerald asked looking slightly concerned. "When you are done can we have a small chat? It's something that I think you we will want to know." Jerald then continued, "That's all."

Amelia RoseShe looked at Jaxton and nodded.
"Of course. Is something wrong?" she asked as she headed to the porch to talk with him.

Jeremy folded his arms and leant against one of the seats in the bus, smiling gently at the other two. They seemed like decent enough people, he wasn't sure if he'd hang out with that weird kid all that much, but he supposed he just had to wait and see where things took him. At least that's what was on his mind until the boy climbed down on the floor to fetch his god damn teddy bear.

That was - really something. Where he grew up, you'd get the absolute shit beat out of you if you even mentioned owning any type of toys when you were older than ten. Naturally, he didn't comment on it out loud, nor did he change his facial expression much, but... Some thoughts did pop up in his mind. Perhaps he'd try and help this kid be less soft, right now it looked like he was about to cry, which was kind of pathetic.

Sighing, he shook his head and reached up to fetch his skateboard from the trays over the seats. His gaze moved from the kid to the girl, nodding slightly in response to her statement about them being late. Yeah - it was definitively not wrong. "Aight," he said, voice thick with a somewhat rough, English accent, "I suggest we go find our cabin and stuff, grab your shit and I'll wait for ya outside the bus. I really need a fuckin smoke."

With that, he jumped out, glanced quickly around and lit his cigarette, slightly anxious that the councillors would confiscate his cigs if they caught him.

Jerald hesitated nervously then said, "When we were walking here I heard some rustling in a nearby bush. Now that wouldn't be so bad if I didn't feel like I was and still am... ...being watched. I don't know what it could be, but it could just be a raccoon so yeah. That's what I wanted to tell you." Jerald finished.

Gage had been following along with the other campers the entire time. He was quiet and observant at the moment because he wanted to take in what the could of the area and remember how to get to the cabin. His expression seemed mildly annoyed, but he didn't notice that he was making a face at all as he looked around. The teen brushed passed the owl painted door and placed his bag onto one of the bottom beds before sitting down beside it. Gage wasn't a big fan of the lemony scent that kept burning his nostrils, but it was better than being on the smelly bus with the other campers. With that thought he huffed, not sure if he should go ahead and look around outside some more or wait for lunch since he was starved.

Smoking. She hated the habit. Celestia simply nodded though "We'll be right out." She watched him exit and made sure her bags were slung over her shoulders securely. "Ok, Find what ever you need to take with you and lets go ok?" Her voice was soft as she spoke to the younger boy. He looked like he was trying to hide his face. The other guy seemed ok, maybe a bit impatient, but this little guy in front of her seemed scared. "We should hurry though. You want to make sure you are stuck with a bad bunkmate right?"She gave a small smile, keeping the mood light.

After they would or wouldn't find the kid's belongings Celestia would offer her hand to him kindly and if he took it, would lead him off the bus and would try not to breathe in any smoke from the other guy. The smell alone would make her feel unable to breathe. She didn't automatically hate smokers but it was just a bad habit in her mind and the memories it triggered...weren't really fond ones. "Let's get to our cabin then, where ever it may be, and Either of you can Call Me Celestia, or just Celest. Its nice to meet you both" She would say simple once they were all ready to walk away from the bus, tryin not to mak it obvious that the smoke bothered her

Amelia RoseAmelia gave a wary look at the kid. Maybe the trip on the bus rattled him up a bit, or he had an actual feeling. She sighed and looked into the wood.
"Alright. I'm pretty sure that it's an animal. But they know not to come here. Except for the raccoons. Those bastards don't know how to stay away, no matter how many times I shoot at them," she rolled her eyes, "If it'll make you feel better, I'll walk the perimeter and check to see if there's anything. But when I come back, you guys have to be ready for orientation. Okay?"
She looked back at him.

Rudolf Nadja

Awakening
The boy whimsically took the girls hand. As he did, something strange happened: As though reality itself had caved around them, everything seemed so out-of-focus. Yet, he felt as though he could feel her hand against his. He didnt even achknowledge the loss of his buddy, nor did the stinging of his lungs -irritated by the smoke that sunk into his chest- take his attention from the girl. His head tilted slightly as he gazed dreamily at her grace and kindness. He began to go numb, following her steps in a swayed and weary shamble. She began to speak, and her words echoed in his ears as the sweetest sounds that he could hear.Celestia. What a beautiful name.

He wasn't much for talking, but he knew vaguely how to handle this type of talk: an introduction. He snaoped from his dreamy state and forced himself to speak: his high-pitched yet raspy voice cracking clearer from under a loose scarf...
"Rudolf." he managed to squeak from his throat. as he said that, he felt something more sinister from his environment...

The sudden pressure -or lack there of- against his cheeks thrusted him back into reality. His scarf -the thing that hid his appearance- began to loosen and sag below his cheeks. His heart sank as he went into a full panic, being reminded of this unsavory part of his life.It was almost like a deliberate message from life: "you must never forget." whispered from his mind. He couldnt listen to this, despite the stings to his heart that joined the pain of his lungs. He stumbled and stopped, tugging against her hand to gesture her to let go. He looked to the other
guy, hoping he didn't notice his sudden panic. he held up his hand against it, but the sides kept sagging. it needed to be tightened but that action would require both of his hands to be completed. He must retreive his hand from her grasp.
He must.
(not alot of action but I will make up for it next post)

Caitlyn dropped her stuff on the nearest available bed, which happened to be directly in the center of the room. She looked around, half-hoping someone would take the top bunk above her, so that she'd have someone to talk to.

"Ugh."

She brushed a daddy-longlegs off of the mattress before spreading her sleeping bag out, and really took a look around for the first time. She saw her counselor, of course, who she already knew as Amelia, and she was talking with a bit of an awkward boy. She supposed he was about her age, but he somehow looked younger, especially with the expression of mixed discomfort and fear the he was wearing. There was the girl with the green eyes, who she'd accidentally made eye-contact with earlier. Caitlyn grimaced, hoping the girl's first impression wasn't of her staring. Also in the cabin was a younger girl, maybe 12 or 13, but with red hair like Caitlyn's, only a little longer.

Interested, but not enough so to break out of her shell, Caitlyn grabbed Little Women and plopped down on the bunk, holding the book above her head. Escaping, if only for a moment.

Sofia had followed her designated counselor, Amelia, as she guided the other campers to their cabins. Finally they came to a cabin that was definitely hers. She could tell by the giant, not so cute owl that had been painted on the front of the door. Amelia opened the door and they were greeted by a waft of cool, crisp air. Inside there were several bunk beds placed around the room and she watched as her roommates quickly spread out to claim most of the desirable beds. She wanted a top bunk, far away from the spiders and other creepy crawlers that would most certainly find their way into her bed at night.
Off in the corner, Amelia was lost in discussion with another camper, a boy who vaguely reminded her of her younger brother's peeping tom of a best friend. His face was distorted by concern and fear, his eyes boring intensely into the camp counselor's as if for reassurance. Shrugging it off, Sofia became immediately distracted with finding a place to sleep. There was a girl with bright red hair that she kept in two braids on either side of her head. She looked young, maybe fourteen. That, combined with the scowl on her face, deterred Sofia from approaching her. No one else seemed particularly approachable with the exception of a girl who looked to be about her age. She had red curls that reminded Sofia of the color of fire and her piercing blue eyes were scanning the pages of a book. The bunk above her was empty and, if it wasn't dead center in the middle of the room, it would have been perfect for her. Still, Sofia decided this was her best option.
Her bags were beginning to make her arms sore, digging into the soft flesh of her forearms. She hurried over towards the young woman who wasn't taking much notice of her at all, but her face seemed friendly enough despite her nose being buried deep in her book. "Hi," she said. "I'm Sofia." She extended an arm to the girl, with a bag still on it, and gave her best attempt at a warm smile. "Do you mind if I take the top bunk? I'm quiet, I promise," she half-joked. .

"And I'm Jeremy," he replied with a shrug, blowing the smoke out in the air with a sigh. he watched it dissolve in the air, carried away with the soft breeze that blew over the road in front of them. He sighed and threw the remaints of the cigarette down on the floor, deciding that it was definitively time to move. Normally, he didn't care about being late, but he'd rather not miss out on the main socialising that usually went on during the beginning of trips like this.

"Let's get going, we're already late as it is," he commented and started walking down the road, hand tightening a little around the skateboard. Not that he'd admit it, but it meant a lot to him - he felt incredibly stupid that he'd somehow forgotten it on the bus. It meant almost as much to him as some stupid teddy bear meant to other people, although he'd never ever say anything like that to anyone.

Amelia RoseAmelia nodded and walked to the cabin.
"Hey guys, I'm going to go out real quick. It shouldn't take me more than fifteen minutes. When I come back, make sure you are dressed in something to swim in, because I am taking you to the lake before lunch," she said with a smile. Her grip tightened around the bear repellent on her belt and she turned towards the cabin door, "Bring sunscreen and towels too."
She exited the cabin and headed to the border.

Caitlyn looked up from her book to see that same pair of green eyes looking at her, along with a hand extended her way.

"Hi, I'm Sofia. Do you mind if I take the top bunk? I'm quiet, I promise."

Caitlyn sat up, putting her book aside and shaking the young woman's hand with a broad smile. She tried her best not to sound too enthusiastic.

"Sure. Oh, and um, I'm Caitlyn. Do you need help with your bags?"

Both girls turned their heads to listen as their counselor announced her departure. Caitlyn smiled coyly.

"So much for supervision, right?"

Rudolf and Jeremy. Names to faces. Hopefully she would remember. She pulled Rudolf Along gently as they all walked to their cabin. However there was resistance to her hand. Her head turned and look o see him struggling to keep his scarf on. “Heh it’s kind of warm for a scarf isn’t it?” She chuckled and let go of his hand. “Here let me gat that for you.” Celestial helped him tighten his scarf around his neck. “I hope you don’t have Laryngitis or something. Rudy. If it’s ok that I call you that heh. Being sick would ruin your whole summer huh?” She smiled.

“Let’s Get Going we’re already late as it is.”

She turned and saw that Jeremy was already way ahead of them. “Hey wait up!” Her voice called pit and with out warning she took Rudolf’s had and helped him speed along to catch up to the redhead. They were past the entrance of the Camp. She slowed down to Jeremy’s pace and caught her breath, looking down to see if Rudolf was doing ok. Hopefully she didn’t hurt him while they ran.

“So we’re here where should we go or who should we talk to in order to figure that out?” She asked and looked down for a moment at the board he was holding. “Also. Nice board.” She smiled. Celestia used to have a skateboard of her own but, her dad thought it was better as firewood...

Movement could be heard coming from the woods; a few crackling stems, the rattling of leaves. The noise was barely noticeable outside the normal sounds of the forest, but with every few seconds it grew louder and louder, as if something was making its way closer to the border of the trees. Then, all at once, everything stopped. An abrupt thud was made against the ground and as quickly as the sounds had grown close they began to retreat. If one approached they would see what caused the abrupt noise was a dead animal whose body was littered in wounds and insides emptied, laying within the underbrush left to rot.

"Aye, aye, Captain," A somewhat deep and scratchy voice responded to the counsellor before she left the cabin. He sat up on his bed with a subtle smile and pulled his pair of swimming trunks from his bag along with some sunblock. Gage actually quite enjoyed swimming, and he thought it's be better than sitting around waiting for the time to pass. It's never fun being bored, and he often ended up getting in trouble when it happened. For a moment there he thought about just stripping where he was, but decided being lazy right now wasn't worth the trouble. Instead, he grabbed the stuff he gathered from his belongings and disappeared into the bathroom. When he reemerged he was in his trunks and had already covered himself with sunblock aside from a white area on his back where the sunblock wasn't rubbed in good.
Gage went back to his bed and dropped his other clothing onto it before looking around with an excited glint in his eye. "C'monnnnn.. we're going swimming!" he spoke in a boisterous manner to, well, most of the cabin. Even if he seemed like the only person excited about it, he wasn't put off by it one bit. He shuffled through the cabin and out of the door while saying a few lively yet incoherent things. Once he was outside he sat on the railing that lined the porch and started looking around, toying with his tongue ring while he waited.

Amelia RoseAmelia heard a rustle a few feet away from her into the woods. She walked towards the sound and saw nothing of importance. It wasn't until she drew her eyes to the ground that she saw the dead carcass that was partially eaten. She grimaced at the idea of something dead so close to the campgrounds, but it seemed that the animal that was eating it was more scared than dangerous.
"Hm. I don't think we should worry the kids," she said to herself as she headed back to her cabin. She arrived to see a boy all dressed up for the lake, "I guess you're excited."

Jeremy grinned slightly at her when she mentioned the skateboard - if there was one thing he enjoyed getting compliments for, it was that very object. It'd been a gift from his older brother - something he didn't feel like she knew him well enough for him to mention to her - so it was incredibly valuable to him, the last thing he'd given him before he'd moved back to England. Where he and his family belonged. The moment he turned 18, he'd move there as well, because he was already getting pretty exhausted of this country.

"I suppose there are some counselors walkin' around or somethin'," Jeremy told her after a while, fingers itching for yet another cigarette, but he'd have to wait. He'd only brought two packs, so if he wanted them to last, he'd have to ration them out over the weeks they were staying here. The funny thing was; his parents hadn't even told him how long he was going to stay. So he had to just... Make the best out of the situation. "Either way," he continued with a smirk, "you skate?"

MARTIN MCCONNOR

The loud noise of an old tired moped could be heard in the distance, coughing and spitting as it struggled to drive down the old, holey road towards the camp. It'd been on the road for a few hours, but gas was already running quite low, so Martin hoped that there was some emergency gas at the camp - he really hadn't thought this whole situation through. But he didn't feel all too pessimistic about it, after all, it was just an exciting new experience for him. He'd been called just a couple hours before he'd left, after which he'd stuffed some clothes in a bag, thrown it over his shoulder and bounced out to his yellow moped.

Eventually, though, he found himself at a road cross. This wasn't something Amelia had described to him, so he slowed down to a halt and glanced around with slight confusion, pursing his lips as he tried to think back on what she'd told her. Just follow the road, she'd said, but she must have forgotten all about this cross. Sighing, he pulled off his helmet and pulled his phone out from his pocket, dialing her number. While waiting, he pulled out a can of iced coffee and sipped from it, constantly peering around at the thick woods which surrounded him.

Hunger was starting eat at him, knocking it's way back to his attention with a muffled growl in his stomach. "Do you guys have a place for snacks here or-," he stopped when he heard what sounded like her phone going off and muttered under his breath.

Amelia RoseAmelia heard the familiar sound of Tron's Overture blast from her phone.
"Uh, under the bunk beds, there's a small box with drinks and food just in case stuff happens," she says as she pulls her phone from her belt, "Just don't tell the other cabins okay?"
She stepped away and looked at who was calling: Martin McConnor. She answered and put the phone up to her ear.
"Hey Martin."

Jack Jacksmith
(y'all)
Jack decided that while the kids were preparing themselves he would go and check the forests on more time before he meets with the kids at the lake. "Well I might as well see if there is anything there that I haven't checked for, who knows there may be predators if there's deer here, and now that the deer left humans are only thing left to hunt." at that point in time Jack laughed to himself as he walked in the forest thinking to himself "Well maybe they are trying to hunt humans from the first place, heh".

As he walked deeper and the deeper within the forest you barely could begin to hear him and if you were somewhere near a few minutes later you would hear a scream followed by the natural silence of the forest.

MARTIN MCCONNOR

"Hey, uh- I think I've gotten somewhat lost," Martin laughed, glancing around while he continued to sip his coffee. There were some weird noises in the trees which kind of disturbed him, too much for him to be able to brush it off as some kind of animal roaming for food. He had barely been in the woods before, but it was worth it to come and visit an old friend, whom he hadn't seen in what felt like years.

"I'm at some crossroad in the middle of the woods here," he continued with a sigh, tapping his foot impatiently, "am I supposed to go left or right here?"

“I used too. But uhh...my board was...ruined. And my brother’s board I had to sell...” They both used to be quite a pair always skating or hanging around town, those were...happier times. His board was worth something though, she had to sell it to get groceries. This was after her brother died though. Celestia luckily found a few friends to skate with after he was gone. “I had a group of people.” It was really only four of them all together. “We would ride to abandoned places. Check out the spooky and run down parts of town where no one could bother us.” She smiled a bit. Even after her board was burned she still hung out with them. They were her only friend in that town. Plus, nothing her father could do would keep her in that building longer than she had too.

“They were the coolest people. You two have anyone back at your town? Friends I mean.” She didn’t want to seem like she was asking about a significant other. Celestia wanted to avoid that sort of confusion. Some people in these places liked to try get some sort of summersweet heart, but Celest wasn’t really here for that. It’s was just a way to keep away from the place she lived. One would never catch her calling that building home.

Near the Entrance
Rudy huffed and wheezed in the wake of the sudden sprint which left him weary and shaken. His arm had been suddenly yanked and jolted from its joint, as it sent cold shivers of weak pain from his shoulder. Rudy himself seemed almost bent by the waist, struggling to retain a grasp on his breath. Despite his rather exhausted appearance, he looked fine...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The boy felt a flaming anger dwell from beneath his soul. It wasn't anything familiar, in fact, The feeling itself is an undetectable force. A force that kept breeding from the combination of thrashing and writhing anger and frustration that managed to quickly scramble like wasps from a hive. And much like any hive-based insect, the pain that the hive endured hastened its swelling rally. Rudy clutched his other hand into a tight fist, his face following with his angered nature with a rather "cute" grimace.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the heat continued to boil his feelings over, it didn't take long to erupt. As Celestia ended her speech, Rudy drew to almost full-out rage. He was ready to strike...

Rudy suddenly jolted his arm away from Celestia without further forethought. While he didn't initially account harm, he refused to be attached to her any longer. Sadly, he didn't account for the other outcome: A sudden jolt like that -if her grip was tight enough- could cause at least some discomfort in either off-putting balance or causing pain in the joint. At this moment, in his rage-fueled mind and fiery heart, he could not care for the casualties.
