JD took a deep breath but gave a small nod and sighed heavily "Will she be able to take care of our sons?" he asked quietly needing to know if he needed to try and find some kind of work from home job to help with everything. He didn't need her stressing about the boys.

Max looked over at her daughter and gave a small nod "Yeah sweetheart I do.." she whispered before she gave a heavy sigh pulling her close "Mommy is going to get a bath set up for you okay? Go throw away your trash." she murmured

She nodded and went to throw her trash in the can, following her mom to the bathroom after that with Dex following her. “Will daddy be back for my first school day?” She asked her curiously.

“how old are they?” He asked him frowning when he said five and six months. “Not a chance. Not on her own at least.” He told him. “If you’re happy with her getting sick very quickly then yeah sure but if you want her to live past the end of the year then no.”

Max got Lily in her bath and gave a heavy sigh "I hope so sweetheart, we will just have to see." She said softly before she stepped out of the room when she heard her phone go off "Hello?"

JD listened to him and frowned more giving a nod "Alright....thank you doctor." He murmured before he layed back and ran a hand over his face trying his best to stay calm with the news he received

"Ms Drago? This Maddy calling from Mount Sinai emergency department, we have you listed as an emergency contact for a Mr. Jon Bernthal.... Ma'am we need you to come down here as soon as possible. Mr. Bernthal has been brought in as a potential suicide attempt and as of right now it's looking very serious." She explained to her.

Carmen woke up a couple hours later frowning some "Can we face time the boys? I miss my babies... They might drive me mad but I could do with Angel's cuddles right now... He gives the best... Almost better than his Dad's." She mumbled smiling at him a little.

Max went wide eyed and dropped to her knees "I'll....I'll be there soon." She said before calling her father telling him to rush over and take Lily before she went to the hospital. Once she arrived she rushed to the nurses station "Jon Bernthal....where is he?" She asked in a quiet panic.

JD shook his head some and chuckled some pulling out his phone calling her brother before he walked back in and letting the boys see Carmen "Say Hi Mommy!"

Carmen smiled tiredly and waved at the screen. “Hey babies. Angel you being a good brother today?” She asked him seeing him cuddling his little brother.

She nodded some and typed a few bits in before taking her up to the room he was being held in on full life support. “His doctor will be in shortly to speak to you.” She assured her and left her to privacy while Jon lay there not even breathing on his own at this point.

Angel nodded and smiled some "Uh huh, me and Javi watching Mickey Mouse!" He said happily giggling as Javi squealed some "We miss you mommy...when you coming home?"

Max whimpered quietly when she walked in and quickly took his hand in hers "Jon, baby don't do this please....you have to stay, this isn't your time." She whispered

“Ah, Ms. Drago. Please take a seat. As I’m sure you can tell Jon is very fragil at the moment. There was a mixture of Ambien and whiskey in his system. He was lucky that someone found him so early on. Current though we can’t tell you when he will wake up and there is still a case of if he will wake up.” He told her gently.

carmen smiled as she watched them, seeing Angel start holding the phone at a weird angle and giggled quietly. “Oh baby I hope I’ll be home on Friday, I miss you too. Make sure you’re taking real good care of your brother okay? Give him lots of cuddles and kisses from me and make sure daddy knows that you have to get at least a hundred cuddles a day.” She teased him gently, smiling as he laughed. “Baby I gotta go okay? My lunch just got here but I love you, and you can ask daddy to call me whenever you want okay? I love you.” She told him waving til they hung up and she just looked over at JD starting to cry quietly “I really hope it’s not longer.”

Max took in a shaky breath and nodded softly letting a few tears fall when he left her alone with him "Jon....you asshole...you should have talked to me." She whispered before placing her head on the edge of his bed

JD smiled happily seeing his son's faces lighting up as they talked to their mom. He said goodbye to them as well before he hung up and gave a heavy holding her close to him "We'll get you out of here babe...but I need to talk to you." He murmured "They said you can't have that much stress on you taking care of the boys full time. They're going to help us get you a home nurse as well to help out with your medical needs."

She frowned some “So what? We have to get a nanny? I don’t want a stranger raising my kids.” She told him just resting her head back as she got worn out.

Tony showed up early the next morning and gently shook her awake, passing her a coffee. “Morning. Dad told me what happened... tried to kill himself?” He frowned as he watched him.

Max jolted awake as she felt her brother shake her. She took the coffee from his hands and gave a small nod "Yeah...I just hope they're able to save him." she said quietly as she clutched the coffee close to her "Have you seen Lily? Is she okay?" she asked softly

JD nodded some and sighed heavily "Neither do I...thats why I was thinking, maybe I should try to find a stay at home job. That way I can help you out with the children." he suggested to her wondering how she would like the idea.

She smiled a little at him. “I think that if that’s what you feel comfortable doing then it’s the best option.” She murmured, starting to fall asleep again, feeling sick still and tired.

tony nodded some. “Dads got her still. They’re watching Disney movies. He never did that with us when we were kids.” He chuckled. “Yoir daughter has him whipped though.” He tried to cheer her up some and looked over at Jon. “Spoke to his doctor. Said they’re worried about brain damage but they’ll take him out of the coma today and if he survives then it’ll be a miracle but they can give him 48 hours to wake up after that.” He explained to her.

JD gave a heavy sigh but nodded some "Akright babe, get some rest." He murmured softly before he started looking on his phone

Max gave a very soft laugh and sad smile nodding a bit "He has her spoiled rotten." She murmured and looked over at Jon giving a nod "He'll wake up. I know he will."

She frowned some falling asleep and stayed curled up into him still, resting quietly for the next hour or so until a couple of alarms went off and her breathing started to change.

tony nodded some. “Look... I’m just telling you what they’ve told me. They never said he won’t but there’s only a slim chance that he will. Just be prepared alright?” He coaxed staying there with her though.

Max gave a heavy sigh and nodded softly "I know....I just...I can't loose him Tony. Even after all this I love him more than anything."

JD frowned some when he heard her alarms go off before he pressed the call button rapidly vetting worried as more alarms started going off

They quickly filled the room trying to have him leave but he didn't seem to be budging so they let him stand in the doorway as long as he didn't get in the way while they worked on stabilising her.

"I know... Come on, you need to stretch your legs, I'm taking you to get a sandwich then we can come back up... Also Sarah's here and she wanted a few minutes with him in private." He told her quietly.

JD shook his head moving to the doorway refusing to leave the room "No I'm not leaving her,I will stay out of the way." He told them as he stood his ground.

Max frowned softly but gave a small nod and got up walking close to her brother. She gave Sarah a small wave when she saw her but then adverted her eyes to the floor

They eventually got her settled again and left him to privacy after explaining they were going to have to slightly edjust her medications until they found the correct dosage and combination that worked for her but after the scare she wasn't waking up and it was an entire week before she opened her eyes again, hearing the sound of Angel playing and Javi gurgling, feeling confused and a little disoriented as she got her bearings, eventually hearing JD's voice and looked over at him "Jorge?"

Jon was out for most of the time that Sarah was there but it wasn't long before Max came back up that he started to wake up, his doctor getting him stable and comfortable as possible before she got up there and by the time they walked in, he was sat up and listening to Sarah chewing him out

JD sat in the hospital room they had moved her to smiling some as Angel played on the ground with his toy cars and Javi sat in his lap "What do you want lunch bud?" He asked giving a small sigh. He has been worried out of his mind about Carmen,she wasn't waking up and he was scared he would loose her. Plus Angel's questioning was making things worse. He frowned when he heard his name and turned in her direction going wide eyed when he saw her eyes open "Carmen?! Shit!" He said quickly placing Javi in his carrier before he rushed to her side

Max frowned as she got back and went wide eyed seeing Jon awake. She rushed into the room and took his hand in hers already crying happy tears to see him awake "Oh my god Jon....you're awake." She whimpered pressing his hand to her face completely ignoring Sarah as she tried to yell at him

She frowned some as she looked at him a little confused and reached up, wiping the sleepy dust out her eyes, "When did the kids get here?" She asked him quietly, 'Mommy! Daddy you said a bad word.' Angel had left his cars on the floor when he heard his Mom's voice and got up trying to climb on the bed.

He frowned barely looking at her and choosing instead to stare at the bed sheets, pulling his hand down, not saying a word and just gripped at the sheets for a minute "It would appear so." He evemtually mumbled once sarah stopped having a go at him

Max frowned and sat down next to him giving a small sigh. She knew he was mad, she knew he was mad about being alive. It broke her heart entirely and she knew all she could do is be there for him.

JD frowned softly at her and picked Angel up letting him sit on the bed "Hey hey calm down bud okay?" He told him before he took Carmen's hand in his "Baby you've been in a coma for a week...they don't know what happened." He explained quietly to her before he pressed the call button

She frowned some shaking her head. “No we just... they just told me I’m going home Friday..” she told him confused when Angel piped up. “That was last Friday mama.” He told her and she just held him close looking over at JD with concern til someone came to check on her and the kids had to leave for a little bit. “Let daddy take you to get lunch okay.” She mumbled just feeling out of it and confused.

Jon was silent until it was just him and max left in the room and he finally looked at her, swallowing the lump in his throat. “I’m so sorry.” He whispered out, reaching for her hand.

JD sighed heavily and kissed her forehead softly "Don't worry babe, we won't be gone long." He murmured getting Javi buckled up and had to drag Angel out of the room since he did not want to leave his mother's side.

Max moved to sit with him and pulled him close taking a deep breath "Talk to me Jon.." she whispered running her fingers through his hair

He frowned some shaking his head. “I love you.” He whispered. “And I ,... I can’t .... I got my son killed. I got too careless and I can’t have that happen to you as well or to Lily.... it was my recklessness... I can’t... I’m tryna live with myself over this. And I can’t. I can’t do this.” He whimpered shaking like mad and gripping at her hand to try


Carmen frowned watching them go. She ended up being in the hospital a further month as they were able to get her a new set of kidneys sooner than expected but she was finally home and letting JD help her out of the car and into the house.

Max sighed heavily and shook her head some "No baby no...this isn't your fault at all. It wasn't your fault." She coaxed kissing his cheek gently letting a few tears fall "I promise its not."

JD smiled happily as he took her home kissing her cheek gently "You ready beautiful? We're so happy to have you home." He said happily as her helped her inside. The whole month had been a complete rollercoaster ride but he was just happy to finally have her home
