She nodded and sat down rubbing at her face and got plates out for them. “I’m sorry I can’t control what is setting me off at the minute.” She muttered getting frustrated with herself, finishing up breakfast with him and kept it covered so it would stay warm then went to wait on the couch for him to go get the milk. By the time he got back though the house was silent and she wasn’t in the kitchen or anywhere downstairs. Jojo was whining as he sat just outside the baby’s room, pawing at the door though and ran down to JD when he got back barking at him.

tony sighed heavily and called their father while he stepped out for a minute to explain everything that was going on, worrying a little about what would happen for everybody until they came to let everyone know that he’d pulled through and they could go see him as he would be awake within the hour.

JD came back with a big carton of milk for Carmen plus a few extra goodies hoping it would brighten her mood for sure. He frowned though at how quiet it was and looked at Jojo worriedly "Jojo? What is it bud?' He asked following up to the stairs and opening the door to the baby's room.

Max walked through to the room and took his uncuffed hand in hers letting a few tears fall kissing his knuckles repeatedly "I love you more than anything Jon." She whispered

He whined until he was let in and they could both see carmen on the floor passed out cold and barely breathing.

He started coming around after a little while and groaned in pain looking liver to see Mac there, trying to reach for her and just starting to feel panic set in when he realised he was handcuffed to the bed rail.

JD went wide eyed and rushed over to her "Carmen?! Carmen!" He said pulling her into his arms and called 911 trying to make sure she could get help

Max cupped his face when she noticed him starting to panic as he woke up "Jon stop baby stop, its okay you're okay." She said kissing him gently trying to keep him calmed down when she saw the cop start to come forward

He frowned and looked over at her again gripping her hand right as he could. “It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.” He muttered. “I should be carrying him back to the car from a baseball game right now.” He frowned.

“911 what’s your emergency?” The operator asked, putting the man through to ambulance services immediately. ‘What seems to be the problem sir?” The woman on theother end asked him as she was sending out an ambulance to the address he’d given.

Max nodded softly and cried with him "I know baby I know." She whispered taking deep breaths "Its going to be okay though, I promise it will be okay." She told him

JD explained everything to them before he started to try and do CPR on her to keep her breathing. He opened the door when he heard knocking and took them up to the room so they could look her over

They took over from him, moving her straight to the ambulance and hauling her off and letting JD join them in the back, taking her away though the moment they got her to the hospital and left him with no information for the next two hours.

Jon frowned watching her. “I’m so sorry... they’re gonna put me away again.” He muttered as he watched her.

Max cried softly as she placed her forehead to his "You have to stay strong in there, you have to for us." She whispered quietly to him placing his hand on her stomach

JD waited and waited for her. When he finally saw a nurse from the ambulance come out and rushed over to her "My wife? Where is she?" He asked worriedly

She frowned some and looked over at him. “No ones come to talk to you? Oh ... Mr. Pardo I’m so sorry, come with me. Ms. Sanchez has been moved to a recovery ward. We had to do an emergency c-section to make sure your son would survive. He is quite early but he’s in good hands. You will be able to go see him quite soon let me take you to your partner though.” She told him and took him straight to the room they had carmen in, leaving him to privacy with her for the moment while she paged the dr to tell
Him to go speak to the couple.

Jon frowned as he watched her and just swallowed some.”Whag... what are you trying to say?” He asked her frowning. Really hoping she wasn’t trying to tell him she was pregnant. “No no no youcan’t... we can’t be having a baby.” He muttered shaking his head and tried to sit up a little bit he couldn’t move still from the pain he was in all over from the car wreck still.

Max nodded some as she watched him "I found out maybe a week ago...I was going to tell you at dinner last night." She said through tears seeing how upset he looked about it

JD made his way back to the room taking deep breaths as he saw her wanting to make sure he and his son were safe. He held her hand in his closing his eyes tight before he looked to the doctor as he came in.

He nodded to him and leaned against the wall. “Mr. Pardo... the good news is that this was not a complication from her heart problems. It was a fluke pregnancy complication. There’s likely to be no exact reason as to why it happened but the placenta mostly detached from the wall or the uterus. The good news is both ms. Sanchez and your son should make a full recovery. We have him in the NICU for the next few weeks but once ms Sanchez wakes up you can go see him.” He promised them.

Jon shook his head. “I’m about to go to prison. And you’re gonna go through all that shit without me and then I won’t get to meet them til they’re older. They won’t know who I am.... this can’t be happening right now.” He muttered, rubbing at his face.

JD let out a breath he didn't even know he was holdimg in and thanked the doctor as he felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He stayed with her for about an hour until she finally woke up smiling softly at her "Hey beautiful."

Max shook her head some and closed her eyes tight "We'll find a way...I'll make sure they reduce your sentance." She said barely above a whisper so the cop in the room didn't hear her.

She frowned some looking over at him confused. The last thing she remembered was him leaving to get her oat milk. “What’s going on? How did... how did we get here? Is he okay?!” She asked frantically as she started to become more aware.

he frowned and just tried to roll over away from her, staring at the walls.

JD pushed her softly to lay down and gave a small nod "They said it looks like the placenta possibly dislodged. He is in the NICU but they said he should make a full recovery. Once you're ready we can go see him." He murmured to her

Max frowned some and sat down taking a deep breath. She looked over at her brother as he came to the door and quickly went out to him getting away from the cops "Tony is there anything we can do?"

Tony shook his head some. “Not right now.... good news is dad is thrilled with the work he’s done. And he feels for him. He’s gonna do what he can.. to make this work and get him a lighter sentence.” He promised her. “You want me to get you anything? .... I would stay here with him. Whether he wants it or not.” He suggested to her.

Carmen frowned some as she watched him. “He’s still got two months to go though.” She mumbled trying to not cry but she couldn’t hold the tears back anymore and just started bawling as she tried to pull JD closer, burying her face into his shoulder. “It wasn’t supposed to go like this.” She whimpered. “I wanna go see him... are we even allowed to hold him?”

Max took a deep breath and shook her head some more "Of course he is...." she muttered giving a small nod "Thanks Tony, I'll be okay but I'll call you if I need anything." She said hugging her brother tight before she back to Jon

JD moved to hold her close and gave a heavy sigh "Its going to be okay babe I promise. They said he is going to be just fine. I'm not sure if we can hold him yet but I'll call a nurse to take us to him." He said softly before he pressed the call button

She whimpered a little and wiped at her eyes. “I’m sorry... I let you both down.” She whimpered shaking some until her nurse came in and they did a quick check before letting her get up and into a wheelchair to go see Angel. ‘Ma’am you really need to calm down before you go in the NICU. There are families with serious issues in there and you have no reason to be upset right now. So calm down’ she told Carmen before leaving her and JD alone while she just chewed on her lip freaking out in silence instead now.

Jon watched her walk back in and quietly reached for her. “Lay with me?” He asked her quietly. He was refusing to acknowledge that she was pregnant right now. It wasn’t helping any kind of situation for anyone so he was just ignoring it instead of facing it.

JD shook his head sighing softly "Baby no, no you didn't let anyone down." He said softly before they left to the NICU. As they got to their son he smiled wide seeing him there "Oh Carmen he is perfect." He whispered

Max gave a small nod and moved to lay with him kissing him gently "I love you so much babe." She murmured quietly to him

She frowned and looked into the cot he was in, shaking a little "He's gonna be okay right?" She asked, trying to stay calm but she felt like she was going to explode if she kept going like this.

Jon frowned and just held onto her tightly, closing his eyes to try and get some rest and take comfort in having her there for the next few weeks until he would have to leavee her

-5 years-

Max stood outside the prison with her driver smiling widely as she saw her husband walk out. She rushed over and hugged him tightly kissing him lovingly letting a few tears fall from happieness. Him being inside had been rough on her and her pregnancy. He never wanted to actually see her but he always wrote and called her. The biggest issue was that he never wanted to talk about the baby or mention it. She had given birth to a healthy baby girl and she had grown up to look almost a spitting image to her mother when she was younger. She kept close to him for a minute before she pulled back to look at him "Oh Jon you're home." She said happily

JD grunted softly as he closed the door to his car after a long day at work. He had become a clerk at the police station after their son had been born and it was honestly for the better. He almost never had a panic attack anymore and it seemed like they were in a good spot finally. Their first son was perfectly fine after he left the NICU and they had just welcomed a second son into their lives a little over 4 months ago. He smiled wide when he got up to the doors hearing the kids squealing on the other side. He opened the door and kicked off his shoes making his way to thr kitchen seeing Carmen tryinf to feed their youngest while their eldest distracted him with funny faces

Carmen frowned some, running a hand through her hair and leaned back in her chair "Ángel if I have to tell you one more time to leave your brother alone when he's eating there's gonna be no tablet time for a week." She snapped at him a little. Things had been a little easier up until a few days ago. She'd got into a routine with Javi and everything was working for her to fit her work in plus the kids but then Angel had finished school for the summer and now she was at her wit's end just a week in. "Oh thank god, Angel go see your father." She muttered, sending him away and managing to finish getting Javi fed then took him up to their room for a nap, finally coming back down once he was settled and she was able to go see her husband. "Hey... I changed my mind... Angel's gotta go do those activity days at the leisure centre... I can't do this." She muttered before sitting on the couch with him, putting her feet up into his lap.

Jon walked out to find Max waiting there and frowned. 'Hey... I thought we said no pick up?" He muttered, pecking her cheek and got in the car with her, leaning back and watchig out the window on their way home. "Where's the kid?" He asked her. Not where was his daughter but just the kid. Part of him hadn't come back from losing jack at all and at this point he wasn't sure if it ever would but at the very least he was out and free and ready to get to work. "I'm gonna go see your Dad later this afternoon, go over a few things with him." He muttered.

Max frowned as she got in the car with him hearing him talk about their daughter "Lily is with my sister-in-law at the moment." She said softly to him giving a heavy sigh "Jon my father can wait ...please come home. Meet your daughter." She begged as she turned to look at him

JD chuckled some at his son and quickly scooped Angel into his arms before spinning him a bit "I got you now! Annnddd now....the power bomb!!" He yelled happily plopping him onto the couch smiling wide as his son squealed happily "You been a good boy for mommy?" He asked smirking as he ran off once Carmen was back in the room "He giving you hell?" He asked starting to massage her feet

She frowned some. “Angel you been good? You wanna tell daddy what you did?” She asked him raising an eyebrow as he finally answered. ‘I bit Javi... cause he wouldn’t play with me.’ Carmen just sighed quietly and moved to snuggle in close to him. “That and he spilt juice on purpose.” She mumbled. Before Javi was born they’d moved to Chicago because of the job opportunities for JD and to be closer to some family but Angel was certainly protesting in his own way still on top of carmen being worn out from both the kids plus always being tired from being ill as well and she was struggling.

He frowned some shaking his head. “It’s fine. I won’t be long with him.” He muttered and leaned back some. “She won’t have a clue who I am so what difference does a few more hours make?” He muttered.

JD frowned some and gave a heavy sigh moving her feet and taking Angel aside to give him a stern talking to and taking his tablet away "You need to behave to get this understand? If you're good for mommy tomorrow I'm might let you have it back." He said sternly before he returned to the couch to sit with Carmen "No Tablet for tonight and tomorrow, I won't tolerate him biting anyone." He murmured

Max frowned and shook her head some "She does know who you are though Jon, I've shown her photos and videos of you...Jon please she needs her father." She said but soon shrank back into her chair as he yelled at her

She nodded some and just pulled herself closer. “He did get popped on the butt for it.” She mumbled tiredly. “You wanna just get pizza tonight? The Gino’s East menu is in the drawer.” She mumbled kissing his cheek, sighing a little though when Angel came into the room crying and reaching for carmen. ‘Mommy daddy took my tablet!’ He whined climbing onto the couch and attached himself to her. “Yeah but I’m not getting it back for you. You know why he took it.” She told him holding him close though and winked at JD.

“I don’t care! She can put up with a few more hours!” He snapped at her. There was only one kid he wanted to see and it wasn’t her. In his eyes he only had a son. He didn’t see her as his own daughter yet.
