I am the Diary Holder.
You know our world? It's full of bad people and ridiculous events including the two wars back in the nineteen hundreds. But there are also good people in the world that try to make a difference for the greater good. But in the world of Exodia things are not so great. They have no small tropical islands, amusement parks, advanced technology. No. What they have is a wasteland full of small dying towns, large infested cities and mutants ripping through the flesh of their next victim. And it's all on one giant island. Bigger than Earths islands put together. The wastelands are made from sand and rock. There are structures that can be as tall as a mountain to as small as a baby animal. The people on that planet are similar to humans. They have the same features and ways of communication. Mutants. Not so much. Think of a tiger from earth. Now look at one of Exodia's tigers..

That's just an example. There are things A LOT worse on this rock.
You're an inhabitant of Exodia. Most people on this wasteland have normal weapons like Swords, Axes and other old weapons. But there are a few people in this world that contain "Soul Slayer" weapons. These are powerful weapons that only few can wield. To get a Soul Slayer you must have control over a demon. That demon will try to possess you in anyway possible like becoming a past memory and playing a horrible moment over and over until you break. If you break free from that then that same Demon becomes a Soul Slayer weapon. And each Demon has a unique power. You can make your powers become stronger by letting your demon possess you more and more. They can use your power hungry state as a weakness and fully possess you if you're not careful though. You can also resist more which will block out most of the demons power making your weapon weaker.
Also you need to watch out for a group of people called "Deaths Row.". They take people in for slavery and use them for work to keep their facility alive.
