After grappling with my muse (as Kharmin would probably put it), the first post is up! We will be sticking together as one group after all; I believe we'll have twelve writers once Hooligan and Dogo have made their edits, which is manageable and not too far beyond my original intentions. A wave of shadow creatures unlike that experienced over the past few weeks has been unleashed upon the valleys, and our characters must fight for their lives. You have free control to play out the combat and control shadow creatures near your characters; whilst my post details wolves, they would also come in the form other animals such as giant birds and bears. Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

Accompanying this, I've made a number of edits/additions to various different sections:
~ Cast of Characters: A list of active characters is now up at the top of the characters thread! This information includes the writer's timezones so that we know roughly when to expect people to be online.
~ Magic Updates: After a fruitful discussion with Epiphany , we have tightened the lore regarding using two different types of magic, and I have added a paragraph to the lore page accordingly. I've also added some more stuff to the magic trivia section. Finally, I've added a glossary to help us get our heads around all the different lore terms. If there's anything I've said in PM discussions with you that I haven't put in and you think would be helpful then please poke me - I can't remember what I've said to who about what aha.
~ Map Updates: I've added in a few of the locations mentioned in people's backstories! If the people in question would like to find a picture and write up a little paragraph on the location for the locations section then feel free, though it's not essential!
~ Chapter Update: Whilst this is included within the post itself, you will be able to find information on the current chapter in the Rules/Structure thread (found under the 'other' tab!)​

Following up on that, how is the physiology of these creatures? Would their bodies react to attacks the same as a normal creature?

I knew I forgot something important! I normally do a little enemy profile but forgot to provide anything substantial this time, so my bad guys!

So the beasts don't appear to feel pain, nor do they bleed as such (though there is a bit of a splash of purple if you take off one of their limbs), so it's easy to be taken off guard by their unflinching response to taking major damage - however, unlike the Shadow Reapers (who aren't involved in this attack) the beasts can be killed if they take enough damage, their bodies evaporating. One-on-one it wouldn't be too difficult for somebody with half-decent combat ability to fend one off, but it's their strength in numbers which makes them a bigger threat. As their bodies grow unstable after taking enough damage/losing enough limbs, your Blue Magic girl would find herself suddenly able to manipulate the beast's entire body, but before that they wouldn't be able to interact with it like that. Let me know if you need any more information!

Also, how many of the Shadow Creatures are there around us, approximately? Are they a big wave incoming, or are they more or less just many independent patrols and groups?

Soo, two more questions to add to the growing list

Trappy Epiphany Archon I kind of assumed that Lord Galdric Teldarinas and Sir Gregor Franz were legendary enough to spark awe. The former because he was given a noble title because of his actions and the latter because that's the impression I got from Epiphany 's backstory. So would they be famous enough to spark hero worship in a random peasant boy who's been told too many stories and, if so, do you have anything interesting details about what exactly they are famous for?

SkyGinge How far away exactly are we from Thomas' old village? It'd be a good Walmart, great prices.

Kharmin This is a small thing but, I liked how you depicted thoughts using colons.

Ah, fair enough. Still, I think it's suits it better then using italicized speech marks, which are good for internal monologues but I feel colons are a better choice for a telepath receiving thoughts especially form animals. It makes it seem more foreign.

Yeah I'm alright with them, though firing off water at such speed to cause that much damage is going to drain her auranium pretty fast! This is a particularly large wave incoming compared to what our characters would have faced so far. Numbers are up to our own discretion It's cool to see a colab so early on!

Heh, I imagined it was somewhat close Loedissa. Well closer to it then Alsiere or any other major city. So that's fairly nice. So let's say we're roughly about just under a day's travel away from it?

Oh and to clarify (fairly sure it's been mentioned before), are all shadow beasts wolf-like? Are we fighting only wolf-like shadow beasts?

So just a heads up well in advance: I head out on holiday next Friday for two weeks. Unfortunately, the cottage we're staying in for the first week doesn't have any internet, so I'm not sure what's going to happen with me posting. I will be trying to reply when we're on car journeys if possible but I won't be as around as I have been. After that I should be back to normal and I hope to keep posting at the same rate!
