Hey everyone! Just a quick survey.
How do we all feel about gore? Would you mind if some of our writing feature some of it? Nothing excessive, but it’s present.

I'm ok with it as long as it advances the narrative. Gore for the shock-value only is, IMO, unnecessary. Also, I'd prefer it not to be anime-level if that makes any sense.

I'm generally up for PG-13 levels of blood. Stabbing or cleaving someone, fine. Sluicing the landscape and/or saturating yourself with blood? Okay. Vivid descriptions of snapping bones, crushing joints, graphic disembowelment, prolonged screaming or beggings, not so much.

I'm not up for torture porn and if that's your thing, good on you but I'll be skimming or skipping your description.

Mhm! I agree with everything said here. I can’t stand torture porn either, which is why I explicitly said ‘nothing excessive’.

For example, where someone gets sliced open and a fountain of blood sprays everything withing a 10-15 foot radius for a half a minute. That kind of thing.

MToki : Great questions, and stuff I probably should have already covered as I've been asking for edits on this in forms so far! I was thinking the normal age of entry would be 18+, though in special circumstances it would be possible to begin a year or two earlier. In terms of applying/getting consent, I didn't have anything in particular in mind, but forms so far have hinted at either having to pay p-dolla-dolla to get in or get a recommendation from a noteworthy patron such as a noble or knight. I suppose parental/patron's consent would also be required, but would probably be reasonably easy to forge.

In other news, Kharmin , Epiphany , Archon and Trappy have all been accepted, whilst the other completed forms only have some minor edits in the works before they too are added to the roster. In terms of splitting into two groups, I'm going to play it by ear. We'll see where we're at numbers-wise by the end of Wednesday - with Shady out and the prospective lurkers/some early posters having been silent for a little bit we may actually not have the masses that would call for a split.

I'm going to be on and off the site for the rest of today as my grandparents are visiting and it's likely we'll be doing something together this evening. Should still be able to answer questions and maybe look at more forms/make a few tweaks to certain sections before night falls over the UK!

Accidently posted it (I have no idea how), then used the quoting thing to save it before I deleted it (because it was still rough and I didn't want anyone to see it then). Of course, deleting the message meant that the quote was gone as well. I should have just used the reply thing. Anyways, I've opened up a word document and am going to be rewriting it on that.

So yay, fun.

This is why I do all of my writing off-line in notepad or such and then copy/paste to the forums. I've lost too many things writing "live".

Might decide to use notepad instead as Word is notorious for adding hidden code to text that doesn't always copy/paste nicely. I use OpenOffice instead (or simple notepad if I'm working within HTML or BBC code)

Well since my vow of silence has been broken anyway, (I was avoiding the OOC until I finished my CS), Trappy I don't mind gore. It can sqiuck me out and all, but I don't mind that.
