Moon moaned in his sleep then woke up with a muffled scream as Paton stepped on his foot. "Get off Paton, your armor is really heavy!" He said, pulling his foot away and standing up, favoring the foot Paton had stepped on, he went to where Toxin was waking Glimmer. "What wrong?"


Glimmer woke up and groaned. "It is morning already, or is this just for fun?" She asked, standing up and taking a quick look around.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Depends on what you call fun.'' Toxin took out his bow and loaded two arrows onto it.


Paton unsheathed his sword.


''Just, listen. Can you send out more of those light orbs?'' Toxin asked.


''MEN! MEN HERE!'' the voice screeched. It drowned out all other sounds around.

 

[Shadow]

Moon drew his sword and took a defensive stance.


"Absolutely." Glimmer said, murmuring the spell over and over, sending more balls of light to different places nearby.

 

[CAP Ireland]

The sound of stone hitting stone grew nearer but then, fire erupted in the dark.


''YOU KILL ME BROTHERS! YOU KILL NOW!'' came the voice.


A second flash of fire and pebbles showered the quarry.


''I do apologise. Now-'' the figure stepped into the light. His skin was pale, his eyes all black. he was dressed head to toe is what seemed to be fashionable clothing. He had a violin in hand and a violin bow in the other.


''-who have we here?''


Toxin raised his bow at the man, ready to fire the two arrows.


Paton moved his shield so that it stood between him and the man.


''Thanks for the save, it's appreciated. We're just a group of travelers, nothing more.''


''I'm sure you are, but this is MY land, so you're not travelers, your trespassers.''

 

[Shadow]

Moon took a couple of steps back and eyed the creature uncomfortably.


Glimmer stepped partway behind Paton and his shield, peeking around him to see what the creature was doing.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''I'm a reasonable man. Leave the girl with me and you can go. Objections?'' the man walked towards Glimmer, pointing the violin bow at her.


''Glimmer...'' Toxin stepped in front of Glimmer.


Paton walked towards the man, trying to stop his movement.


''Now now, let the lady decide. We need not lower ourselves to primal ways.''

 

[Shadow]

Moon joined Toxin and Paton in stepping in front of Glimmer.


Glimmer smiled slightly as the guys all moved in front of her. She moved her head so she could see the man and talk to him. "What would you want me for? If you are generous enough to save us once why can't you just let us all go?" She asked, trying to think of something smart to say, but failing.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Because, it's been a long time since I've feasted on screams, and you look the most likely to .....quench my thirst.'' the man lifted the violin to a playing position and began to play a sweet melody.


''Get ready guys...'' Toxin lined up his shot.


+5 to roll.





Paton looked at the man.

 

[Shadow]

Glimmer looked at the man in horror, trying to ignore the melody he was playing. She looked quickly at Toxin and whispered to him, "Should I keep him talking?"


Moon saw Toxin take aim so he stepped up beside Paton so he would be able to strike easier.

 

[CAP Ireland]

Paton and Moon +10 on roll to land next hit.


''I don't know...I've never come across this before. I guess so. I'll try and get into a better position.'' with that Toxin walked into the shadows and onto a nearby boulder. He clambered up it and took aim.


+10 to land next hit due to aim and location.


Paton readied himself for battle.

 

[Shadow]

Glimmer nodded and tried to think of things to say. "You should know I don't scream very easily. In fact I never scream at all and my friends are very good fighters. So you might want to let us go and just wait for an easier target, considering you are only armed with a violin. Don't you think? What does your violin do anyway?"

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Would you like a demonstration?''


Paton and Moon +5 chance to land next hit (total of +15).


Toxin +5 to land next hit (total of +15).

 

[Shadow]

"Oh, no....Just telling me will do." She said, taking a quick glance at Toxin.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Oh no my dear, I shan't give the game away. Here's what I will do.


I'll break your friends. Their dying cries of pain but the beginning of the symphony of pain I shall procure from their eternal souls. Then, I turn my attention to you for more...enjoyable torture.''


Toxin, Paton and Moon gaining +5 chance to hit on next roll (total +20).

 

[Shadow]

"No! Don't do that! I'll come if you let them go." She said, stepping around Paton and Moon and trying to keep them behind her. "Just don't hurt any of them."

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Interesting...'' he stopped playing.


''Alright, come with me.'' he turned away from Glimmer and beckoned her into the darkness with him as he walked away.





Toxin fired the two arrows he had and...

The arrows fired straight to their marks and deeper, knocking the man to the floor and causing him to drop his violin.





Whilst the man is down, Paton tries to create a hard light hammer to smash him and...

His hammer shattered upon impacting the man.


''You little shit! What did you coat those arrows with, huh? Damn things sting like sulfur!'' the man was slowly getting up. The two arrows were now causing black liquid to bubble up around the wounds.


The Man's skin is hard, only anything above a 51 can pierce it (https://www.rpnation.com/dice/4828/view), but he has other abilities.


Moon has a +20 on next roll.

 

[Shadow]

Moon hurried forward and stabbed the man in the stomach.

Glimmer stepped back and looked at Toxin. "Is it going to kill him? Are we good now?" She asked, glancing nervously at the man.

 

[CAP Ireland]

Moon's stabbed the man in the stomach.


''You little shit!'' snarled the man. He reached out to grab Moon.


He rolls a 18.

Critical failure.


The man, reaching out, strains his wounds and causes Moons sword to rip open his bowels. In pain, he rolls away, forcing the arrows deeper into his body.





''It might, but we don't know what he is. If he's human, he's going down.''


Toxin loaded up a single large headed arrow.


Paton ran at the man and Moon, ready in case he was needed.

 

[Shadow]

Glimmer nodded and stepped closer holding her wand ready, just in case.


Moon leaned back when the man tried to grab him and held onto his sword until the man rolled away and his sword was wrenched out of his hand. He stepped back so that Paton would heave a clearer strike.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''YOU SHITS!'' the man crawls away from the group.


He opens a portal in front of him and crawls through.


''Next time...''


And he was gone.





Toxin goes to the violin and picks it up. It has inscriptions on it that reads Demond vagitu.


''Strange...''


Paton looked around, unsure if they were safe.

 

[Shadow]

Moon grabbed his sword and wiped it off on some grass, then sheathed it. "What does it say?" He asked Toxin, in reference to the violin.


Glimmer watched the spot where the man had disappeared numbly. "How did he do that? Was he a Mage?" She asked quietly. "Are we safe?" She turned her head towards the guys, but her expression was blank.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Not a clue. No idea and I guess so.'' Toxin went back to his boulder.


''At least we have firewood now...''


Paton put shit shield down and went back to sleep.

 

[Shadow]

Moon chuckled. "Sorry for all the questions, but at least it makes your answers funny." He went back to where he had been sleeping and laid back down.


Glimmer raised her wand and all but one of the light balls disappeared into it. "Do you want me to keep watch?" She asked Toxin, looking at Paton and Moon already sleeping. She put her wand away and sat on the edge of his boulder.

 

[CAP Ireland]

''Probably a good idea if you did.'' He lay down.


''If you need me, wake me.


Paton breathed heavily as he slept, as if in a nightmare.

 

[Shadow]

"Okay." Glimmer climbed onto a tall boulder, bringing the ball of fire with her. Moon wasn't far from where she sat so she pulled out her wand and started turning him different colors to keep herself awake.
