"Good morning Shi." She yawned. She walked over to the table and sat down, throwing down the backpack onto it. She opened it and got out some food but before she could eat something, Myremon woke up. "Good morning Mair." She said before eating some of her food. "Yeah, I feel good" She said while eating the food. "How about you?" She said before looking behind him, seeing Lily slumped over a stool. She looked away and covered her mouth, attempting to not spit out her food while suppressing a chuckle.

Shi

Shi chirped in laughter as Myremon woke up. She couldn't tell if he had even fallen asleep, but he did. She flipped through the books and waved to Veronica again. She held up the book she had found last night.
"Shi can read now!"
She smiled happily, her tails thumping on the ground slightly.
"Myremon read to Shi and Shi read more!"
She turned around and hugged Myremon around his waist.
"Thank you, Myremon!"

Myremon was caught off guard when Shi hugged him. Affection wasn't a thing he was used to - not anymore. He debated whether or not to hug Shi back, settling on patting her head once again. "You're welcome, Shi." When she released him, he "sat" at the table, getting his gear ready. "I hope you have a good night of sleep. I'm just waiting on Ash and Lily so we can depart." He started checking on his herbs supply, carefully laid out on the table. "It seems I need more whipwood roots. The ones I have aren't enough."

"Seems like you made a new friend Myremon" She chuckled and finished eating. After doing soon, she went over to where Lily was sleeping, looking at a concoction Lily she made. "Huh...Wonder what it's for..." She then turns and looks at Lily. "......" She didn't know why, but she was tempted to draw on her face. It just seemed funny to her, like all those times she did it to Myremon when he was asleep in Darkene. She decided not to though, seeing as she'd probably wake up from the feeling of a pen on her face.

Ash

She slowly opened her eyes, looking straight into the fireplace "......." She yawned and stood up. "Good morning everyone..." She slowly made it upstairs and went outside the bathroom. A short while later, she came out, looking much more energetic than before. She jumped down the stairs and shouted "Woo! So! When are we heading out!" She ran towards the table and put on her jacket. She also grabbed the bigger version of Mr. Duck. "I'm ready!"

Shi

Shi smiled and picked up her book. She looked over as Ash walked in, talking about leaving. She saw the thing in her arms. It looked like the duck thing from her book. She reached out and poked it with one of her claws.
"A duck. Why Ash have duck?"
She opened her book and looked down at the picture of the sad duck. She held it out and pointed to it.

"Good morning, Ash. We'll leave as soon as everyone is ready. Make sure you don't forget anything." He started packing his things again, satisfied with the contents, until Shi caught his attention. She held "The Ugly Duckling" to Myremon again, asking about Ash's own duck. That left him to wonder: Was Shi's telepathy one way, or did she make a connection with her targets every time she would speak? He decided to test that. He talked to Shi in his mind, trying to reach the psychic girl's own mind. "She was alone for a while. People need to talk and socialize to thrive. Since she had no friends, she made one for herself." He tried, unsure if it would work.

"I hardly have anything so....it's pretty hard to forget something important." She turned towards Shi. "Well...It's a stuffed toy. My dad gave it to me when...things were better. He gave me the small one though" She took out the rubber duck out of her pocket. "I....uh...kind of stole this one when I was at a city 3 months ago." She then looked upstairs "Hey...Where's Dante?"

Veronica Saia

"Probably still asleep. I'll go wake him up." She went upstairs and yelled "Hey Dante! Wake up you-!" She stopped. He wasn't there, but there WAS a note. She grabbed it and read it. It said that'd he had to leave and he'll be back soon, but to go ahead and continue without him, he'll find them. She went back downstairs and showed the others the note. "Seems like Dan the demon man has left once more."

Shi

Shi jumped when she heard Myremon's voice in her head. She shook her head and looked up at him with curiosity and confusion.
"Myremon talks like Shi!"
She smiled happily. She closed her book and set it down, forgetting about Ash's duck.
"Myremon talk like Shi! Amazing!"
Her tails swiped back and forth on the ground, making small scraping noises here and there.

Myremon smiled at Shi. The connection was tricky to find out, but once he got the grasp of what Shi did unconsciously, it was easy. "A neural expansion through the mana flow. You're a natural, since your flow is so streamlined, but I still have to make an effort." He felt a tingling sensation on his right hand. Weird. "Okay, what's the deal this time?" He approached Veronica, taking the note in his hands. "Hm. So much for a hero. Right, is everyone ready? Ash, Shi, Vero, Duck, Lily... Lily?" The beastkin was still asleep, snoring louder than the fizzling sound of her concoction. "Lily. Lily! Wake up, it's time to go!" He nudged the alchemist.

"Ngh... It's too early to hunt Dad." The half-human muttered sleepily, arm weakly swinging at the nudge, before her eyes began to open. "H-Huh?" Lily wondered out-loud, still half consumed by her dreams, until finally the realisation hit her. "Ah! No!" The fox yelped, shooting up onto her feet, frantically running around the equipment that laid before her. With haste, her fingers shot toward the flask, a small singeing sound escaping as her fur made contact with the steaming flask. Moving her hands back, and placing her thick gloves onto them, she finally picked up the flask, pulling it to her face to observe it close. "Awwh!" She moaned at the sight of it... Ruined. How careless could she be, falling asleep on the job like that!

Waddling toward the door, Lily turned the flask upside-down, emptying the contents onto the rough soil outside. As it struck, it began to bubble into a thick foam, a strange purple cloud rising from the reaction, swirling in strange, almost methodical circular patterns. "Hmm..." The half-human pondered, rubbing the underside of her chin, glove still in hand, observing the sight, before turning back to move inside.

"Lily Ylva, reporting for duty!" She beamed up toward the others, almost as if ignoring the previous sight, placing a hand to her forehead in a sad excuse of a salute. "Wait..." She paused, pointing at each of them with a finger, her mouth moving as if muttering as she added them up, before moving by Myremon curiously to read the note he was holding. "Well that's no fun!" She finally added, before starting to pack her belongings, a noticeable stumble to her step as her still half-asleep body manuevered.

"Well, I'm ready. I'll be waiting outside." She grabs her bag and steps outside. She looks up at the sky. It's surprisingly beautiful. The sky is clear and the sun is shining bright. She had expected for this world to be all dark and gloomy all the time.

Ash

"I hope he gets back soon...well...I'm ready for this adventure!" She jumped up high, with a fist to the sky. "I'll be outside too!" She grabbed her duck and ran out. Their next destination would be a city that she would usually go to to steal food. Of course, she was always careful and sneaky so nobody knows how she looks like. Though, she hasn't visited that city for over 2 months. She had found a town that was closer but for some strange reason, everybody who lived there just disappeared one day, and the strange thing was is that nothing was damaged.

Shi

Shi nodded and picked up her book again. She bounced on her heels, ready to get going.
"Adventure! Shi find lost thing! Then Shi remember lost thing."
She smiled and chirped happily. She would get to travel with people instead of wandering around Yrin. How did she know this place was Yrin? No one had told her. She had just known it as long as she could remember. What did she remember? The beginning was all so very fuzzy. She shook her head and smiled again.

Myremon watched as Lily did her almost slapstick act, then observed curiously at her chemical reaction. That might prove useful. "Alright, since everyone is already up, let's get going. Ash, since you know the surrounding area, I think it's wise for you to lead us to the next settlement." He approached her, closing the door of the ramshackled house. "And in the meanwhile, I'll take up on your offer. Talk about everything you can, please." He looked at the bright sky of the demon realm. It was time to move forward, and find answers. For Ash, Veronica, Shi, and himself. As for Lily... He only wondered what was her business in Yrin. Myremon had a feeling that she either would divert the subject or flat out lie. There was something underneath the layer of "carefree joy" that she showed the group. It was a matter of time until he knew what it was.

((Unlocking Lily's Tragic Backstory™ is going to take a while, so Myremon set it to the Secondary Quests.))

Lily grabbed her things and moved outside, her eyes gazing toward the sky as she did so, an expression of awe flushed over her face. She only hoped today they would be able to make some good progress, though for her, that didn't necessarily mean progress toward defeating some demon lord. Then again, she had been hoping to test a few new recipes on the natives on these lands. As she skipped ahead, bag rattling behind her, the half-human looked back at the others. "Hurry up you lot! Hopefully Ashy doesn't lead us into some nasty demon-friends!" She giggled, doing her best to keep her eyes open, as she continued onward.

"Sure but...what do you want to know? Want me to start from the beginning or do you want to know one exact thing?" She turned to Lily "Oh yeah, don't worry. I'll bring you to some Not nasty demon friends. They're nice nice but they eat fox, but you shouldn't worry Nyeheheheheh." She jokingly said and began marching towards the forest. "A city I used to go to is this way. I haven't visited in a couple of months though but It should still be there. I only ever went there to steal food and other stuff but I made sure nobody spotted me."

Shi

Shi walked out with her book in hand. She saw Lily was finally awake and ran over, scooping the small fox into her arms. She rubbed her cheek against her head and smiled.
"Soft fox Lily. So soft."
She continued walking with Lily in her arms like a stuffed doll. All of her tails happily swayed back and forth.

Myremon pondered Ash's questions. How much did she know? How much was enough until she had another breakdown, until whatever Shi did to her was undone? He observed Ash walking along him, the fragile state of mind that the girl was mere hours ago. "Tell me about your home. Your village, before the attack. I think this is as good as anything."

Pausing for a moment, Lily looked back to Ash in a slight shock. "A-Ah! What beast would eat fox!? They must be true monsters!" She noted with a weary smile, before tapping her finger into the air toward the demon-girl. "Not if I eat them first though!" She chuckled at her own statement, grinning with closed eyes toward the child, before a pair of hands collided with her sides.

"Hey! Stop... That...!" She mused at the sudden intrusion, her words slowly getting more drawn out, turning into what could almost be described as a purr. "Can't you just talk normal... and... I'm not some house cat to be... Ngh..." Lily attempted to refute the actions, though her own body, mixed with the exhaustion, fought against her, relaxing itself in Shi's arms. "I-... I'll allow it... For now..." She started up once more, raising a finger weakly into the air, eyes batting shut as she still attempted to keep herself awake and alert through the relaxing feeling.

Ash

"The village...Well, It was a pretty big village as you can see. There was a lot of people and it was a pretty lively place. I lived with my dad and it was pretty nice." As she was speaking, they entered the forest. "People would come to the village to trade items and potions because there were a lot of alchemists in the village. There was a school too but I couldn't go because people were still wary of me because of how I looked...But I made a few friends...and had a lot of fun...." She stopped speaking as she didn't know what else to say. She really didn't know much about her own village.

Veronica followed silently behind. She was also interested in hearing her story.

Myremon listened carefully for any change of mood. He was attentive to the environment as well, looking for any potential trouble around the group. "I see. Your village was famous for alchemy. You said that you lived with your father? What about Syl- I mean, what about your mother? The woman in the picture?"

Ash

"I...Don't know much about her....I never got to know her. I asked my father about it a couple of times but he would just say that she lives somewhere else now." Her tone of voice was calm. She continued walking. "Through here!" She said to the others, walking through a couple of vines and bushes. It was still the same path, although with more plant life.

Myremon frowned under the mask, as much as his nightmarish visage would let him. What happened between Ash's father and Sylvia? Was she already working with the Demon King when Ash's village was destroyed? What caused her to change like that? Ash was just adding more questions to Myremon's list. "This one is a bit harder. Don't worry if you can't or don't wanna answer. What happened when your village was destroyed?"

"Well...It was 6 months ago. It was a busy day because there were a lot of merchants coming to the town and buying things...and I was at my house with my dad....and all of a sudden we heard an explosion...and demons were here...and they started killing....and..uh..and..." Ash began to shiver a bit and began to stutter. "And there was fire....and screams...and a lot of people were running...." Why was she feeling so scared? "and kids were taken...and fire everywhere...and smoke...and....and...uh...i...and..." Ash felt a pair of hands on her shoulders and looked behind her. "It's alright. You don't have to keep going if you don't want to." She smiled and began walking beside them. ".....Sorry about that...It's fine, I'll continue." Ash took a deep breath and continued "Well...It wasn't good...I was running, trying to go into the forest with my father but we got separated...and this demon, who..." She looked at Myremon. "Looked exactly like you, grabbed me by the throat...and was going to take me somewhere...but my dad came and rescued me, and we escaped into the forest together and when we returned...there was nobody left. The village was destroyed. We tried looking for other people but there wasn't anything left except some buildings and...corpses....." She continued walking.

Myremon's mind stopped for a solid minute. He thought back to the castle, and the gruesome experiments Sylvia made him go through. He thought about the machinery, the circles, the spells. How it all was tailored to corrupt him. To make him a monster. A swirl of thoughts made him realize one dreadful fact. "I'm not the only one." The voice came almost as a whisper. He looked to everyone, one at a time, then looked forward to the path ahead. "I... I wasn't the only one... I wasn't the only one that turned into a wraith. And if what Ash says is true... Sylvia did it. Sylvia managed to fully corrupt someone, to make a complete wraith." He struck his staff on the ground. "Everyone, pick up the pace! We must proceed as fast as possible! I fear the worst."

Shi

Shi happily walked with Lily in her arms. She smiled when she noticed the fox girl trying to stay awake. She held her with one arm so she could pet her head.
"Cute fox Lily."
She looked up when Myremon said to pick up the pace. She walked faster so she could keep up with them.
"What wrong Myremon?"
