Fantasy The War (Players Needed)

Pandorian said:
You could say that again, Elsbeth thought. It took some dedication to abide by such a busy lifestyle, but in retrospective it seemed that she would soon be living something similar. But that was not to say that she wasn't grateful for the position - the status and responsibility seemed a little daunting, is all. Bringing her attention back to the armour, she found an appropriate place to change, and began suiting herself up. Piece by piece, the armour fit with surprising ease. Each part was flexible, light, yet felt durable and sustainable, the armour easy enough to slip into and out of. Its' exquisite detail filled her with confidence - confidence that she'd certainly need for the ceremony. After a few adjustments, Elsbeth hastily folded her clothing and left it on the workbench for the time being, before departing with the helm held at her side.
Elsbeth's travel back into the palace was swift, arriving within the turn of the hour. Observing the courtyard decorated in its completion, she was awed once more by the transformative nature of it all. Looking towards the main part of the courtyard, she noticed the crowd had grown since her previous visit - was to be expected, considering the ceremony was soon due to start. She recognized their garments - a mix between soldiers of the Blaze Guard, and nobles of Orbis, and they made a fair combination, if she had ever seen one. Midst this, Elsbeth struggled to see Galandor, but dared not to call out his name in case she brought the crowd's attention upon herself too early. It would be bad to ruin such a surprise so early.

@Raizel
When the soldiers began to notice Elsbeth in the courtyard, they suddenly went stiff, and rushed into formation, in the front of the palace stairs. The nobles were on the sides, and Galandor, seeing the commotion, went up the stairs to meet Elsbeth.

(For reference, the courtyard is the lowest level of the palace, then come the stairs and then the entrance of the castle, where Elsbeth is. The entrance to the forges is turning right in the entrance hall, so Elsbeth ascended the stairs from the Forges, turned left and faced the courtyard.)

Galandor reached the higher level of the stairs, right by Elsbeth's side, and raised his hand. Instantly, the murmur stopped. "We are gathered here today to acknowledge Elsbeth Naman'ic." The crowd clapped and the soldiers hit the ground with its spears. "Elsbeth Naman'ic is a brave individual, a woman that with her family, endured the terrible events of the Hearthfire Treason. They were shunned by the conspirators, exiled from their homeland, but they returned, proving their loyalty to the banners of Orbis." More clapping ensued. "More recently, in the kingdom of Quaani, Elsbeth Naman'ic has proven her leadership and combat prowess with incredible efficiency, helping find and kill the traitor who claimed the souls of your brethren. And because of this, I, King Galandor Thurion Maxwell, bestow upon her the title of General of the Blaze Guard. And as proof of her title, I present her these twin swords, here named Helios&Apollo." A great cheer was heard from all of the courtyard, as Galandor presented Elsbeth with two swords. The scabbard was as dark as her armor, and the Scorching Sun was emblazoned in the center. It was encrusted with rubies across its length, which shined through the blackness of the scabbard. As Elsbeth unsheated them, the blade instantly emitted a considerable amount of heat. The blade was incredibly simple, but something was kinda off. It's surface swirled in energy, and although the shape was firm, it seemed malleable. Galandor took one of the blades into his own hand. "Here, Elsbeth. Let me show you how this blade works." He raised it on the air, and in a matter of seconds, the blade reformed itself, changing into the shape of a war axe. "The metal is enchanted with a special spell, that makes the metal in a constant liquid state. Combined with a restraint spell that doesn't let the metal fall off and a shaper spell on the hilt makes the blade turn into whatever weapon you can imagine." The blade reconfigured itself into a blade, and Galandor put it back to the scabbard. He then placed the second sword in Elsbeth's hand. "Elsbeth Naman'ic. With these swords, you shall be known as the Queen of the Scorching Sun, General of the Blaze Guard!" A roar came from the soldiers, all cheering and hailing, as the nobles clapped more loudly than ever. Galandor smiled as he clapped as well. "Address your soldiers, General."

Locke shook his hand. "Pleased to meet you, won't you guess my name?" He waited for a second and then interjected. "Heard that in a tavern once, always wanted to say it myself. Name's Locke." Locke did not feel like puzzling Saij with the nature of his game. "I have been around for a long, long year, saw the Kingdom fall." Locke shuddered in recollection. "That was... not fun for anyone. Nice to meet someone from this old dust bowl." Locke was really intrigued. This kid may need him later. "So... were you around during the fall, or were you born after?"

@Mmetafour

"oh I was born after" he nodded and smiled politely "I'm only twenty five, but I've heard stories, and read plenty about the kingdom, its very interesting that you were alive back then" he said, a bit of excitement evident on his face "you must've known all about the ancient practices and the old teachings from the gardens and the world walkers. Blinking, flight, wind manipulation, true freedom!" he blurts happily. "I've only ever seen these things through pages in books and old worn out scrolls....and from my mother of course" he nodded and gave a slight shrug.

@shadowstrikr25

Locke chuckled nervously. "All about the old practices? Sorry, but not quite. Never really learned anything the World Walkers did, that was more my sister's forte. Flight and controlling the wind however, I am more than good at." Locke honestly felt at ease. This guy wasn't going to do any harm, and his bodyguard was rightly suspicious. "Actually, I figured out a neat little thing I can do with wind. I used it sort of like another pair of eyes. Like, I could see all around me, for a small area. Want to see if I can maybe make it bigger. Anything you can do with wind?" Now Locke wanted to see Saij's capabilities, or hear about them.

@Mmetafour

"not quite" Saij replied coyly "my abilities are lackluster at best" he shook his head and frowned slightly. "I've been practicing every day, much to the dismay of my people....but, the defining characteristic of air is freedom...one day I hope to be as free as the masters were..." He looked at Locke and nodded "I don't think I've ever read about the ability to see using the wind, that sounds very useful, perhaps with such an ability we wouldn't have been caught by surprise" he smiles jokingly

@shadowstrikr25

Locke laughs. "Maybe not. Either way, looks like we can work together on getting the bandits out of here, eh?" Locke was surprisingly focused at the moment, to the point of thinking long-term. And he was getting really annoyed at all the bandits in general. "Maybe I can see my old home brought back to life." Locke then had another strange, long-term idea cross his mind. One that may prove very instrumental in getting the bandits out of this dessert and bringing back the Air Kingdom. "Hey, you want someone to teach you more about wind manipulation and the old techniques?" Locke may not think himself much of a teacher, but he had books that could help.

(Sorry went to a movie) Silently Faolin looked at Thalia. He sat and looked at his plate. He began to eat and waved away Thalia's comment about being distant as he stated, "I understand your the Queen. I am a Duke I understand more then most people." He looked at her then at the new warrior and stated, "Nice to meat you Emily. I am Faolin." He said nothing more. He was thinking and eating. He had a lot on his mind especially with Thalia on his mind.
@sprouhtt @Moolock
Thalia smiled when he said that and he was right, she duke was almost as busy as the queen but not entirely since she had to run a whole kingdom by herself.

The mage nodded and looked down to her food, delicately picking up a utensil and beginning to eat. She said nothing to him calling her by her first name so informally and so soon, but kept her opinions to herself to enjoy the decadent meal prepared. The dish itself was simple but a combination combining flavors that wouldn't overpower each other and a few spices added in for a mouth-watering aroma. Her crystal throbbed with a light in tune to her own heartbeat and she cursed herself for not having replaced it before coming to the table. From his new-found perch, Murc looked down at his companion, amber eyes showing a mix of concern and pity, the connection between them causing her slowly leaking magic to alter his senses as well. Em finished her dinner quickly and quietly, carefully aware of the obvious bond between the "Duke Faolin" and Queen Thalia and the glare her lizard friend was giving her. "Your Majesty, if I may be excused?"
@sprouhtt @Lighthouse8477
"I am not one to stop you from leaving this table so yes, you may be excused." Thalia told her. She wondered where she was going but didn't want to ask since she would probably find out later or something.

(sorry it took so long to reply everyone! I was busy a lot this week!)

"that would be great" Saij smiled, "I'd love to learn all about it" he said, nodding and smiling as Sara exchanged glances between the two of them. "unfortunately I'm at the point in my training where I must learn alone" he smiles "training is a different story, but I'd prefer to figure out these things in my own way" he declined politely, smiling. "Did you say something about your sister?" he asked, tilting his head to the side.

@shadowstrikr25

Em nodded and stood quietly but abruptly, a wave of her hand beckoning Murc down from his perch. The lizard opened his wings and obeyed, gliding down to land on her shoulder. Ignoring the looks she got from servants and guards as she stormed past, Em made her way to her room. Angrily she tore off the crystal pendant now only being held together by the silver setting. It skittered across the desk before coming to a halt against one of her books and shattering, the glow quickly fleeting to nothing. Murc puffed steam and fluttered from her shoulder, snapping at her dress to keep her distracted. Growling, she waved a hand, a burst of uncapped magic shooting out of it to spiral around the room and dissipate upon hitting a wall. The lizard scrambled up onto the desk and pulled another amulet from her satchel. Regarding him coolly, the two of them had a stand off for a few minutes before Em relented and snatched the crystal. "I'm scared, Murc. These are dying too quickly. I need something that can actually hold my magic capped rather than let things whirl around like cannons." She clasped it on, pulled her hair out from under the chain, and returned to the dining hall, sitting down quietly as if she'd never left. Reaching a light hand to touch the new pendant, free of cracks or fissures, Em gave a small sigh of relief.

@sprouhtt @Lighthouse8477

Thalia smiled when he said that and he was right, she duke was almost as busy as the queen but not entirely since she had to run a whole kingdom by herself.
Silently Faolin smiled at Thalia gently. He stated, "Of course you have more since you run a Kingdome by yourself right now. He looked at Emily. He had forgotten her last name. Crow. That was it. she was fingering a pendant a perfect one at that no flaws. Actually it was a pendant. He looked at her and asked, "Mrs. Emily Crow what is the matter?" He looked at her as he ate. He looked at Thalia as he smiled gently. His eyes probably betraying his entire feelings to her face. He no longer cared. He looked at Emily and waited for her response.

Em looked up from her salad, blue eyes wide. "Oh, nothing, Duke Faolin, just... comfort." She dropped her hand to her lap, ignoring the connotation that she was married- a definite NO in her book- and subconsciously smoothed out her slate blue dress. "Habit I suppose. I wear this crystal everywhere, sir." So as not to look flustered, she returned to quietly eating her salad, her vision slowly becoming hazed with magic. It happened so often that she barely noticed anymore, only that the edges of solid objects began to quiver with an ethereal light only she could see. It was annoying at first but by now the quivering blue edges were normality.

@Lighthouse8477

"OK, I'm not gonna force it on you. Just thought I'd put the offer out there." Locke was very aware that he couldn't win all the time, and even then, he learned most of the basics alone. The mention of his sister, however, gets him back to being focused. "Yeah, she was always going for the hardest techniques available. I know she's out there somewhere, I just gotta find her." Locke looks into the distance, for dramatic emphasis. And then he looks at Sara. "Now then, I don't believe you've said much while we spoke. What's your name?"

@Mmetafour

Silently Faolin looked at Emily. He raised an eyebrow. If she called this nothing he would hate to see something. He warched her. She had a habit according to her then her eyes seemed to go glazy. He looked at her. Magic sight. He had heard of it. It was were a person saw things only they could see. Lights shapes sometimes people. She was special this one. He would note that. He returned to eating. Considering telling Thalia everything is quite a lot to do. He was thinking of the things she would say. None of which would probably actually end up for what he said. Her reply was randome with a million different answers. Even the statement with added on information could change her respone. To many if's for him he would keep silenlt for now.

"Sara, king's guard, and head knight of the royal army" she smirked "self proclaimed" Saij smiled at her playfully "he doesn't seem like such a bad guy eh?" "I'm sure he isn't" Sara said without taking her eyes off of him. "really" Saij directed at Locke "she's very kind, she just takes a little bit to warm up to some, but....she hasn't tried to skewer you with sand yet, so I guess she likes you" "shut up Saij!" she said, turning her body and sliding her hand through the sand quickly. A spear made of fine sand shoots out from the sand next to him stopping dead by his cheek, her death glare now aimed a him. Saij's looked at her with fear written on his face for a moment, before breaking into a fit of laughter. "God! I'll bury you in this sand I swear it! I'll come back and find you tomorrow!" she grumbles "I swear you are the worst" Saij shakes his head, laughing "really you've got to lighten up Sara" he tries to hold back tears

Sora heard the Door to his room unlock and in walker the blacksmith owner. the man gave him a piece of paper that only stated what gems needed to be restocked and the exact amount needed. The owner then grabbed sora by the arm and lead him into the building's storage where the owner wanted sora to use his power to either create the gems or pull already existing ones from the earth. Either way, the owner didn't care as long as sora gave him what the owner wanted. After The owner left, Sora set to work miserably creating gems. Ever since he'd snuck out yesterday and got caught. The blacksmith works were all keeping watchful eyes on him. Sora decided that if there was a second chance to leave, then he would not return to this place. Plus, Sora wanted to see more of the world and the earth kingdom in which he lived. but he has yet to see all of it.

Locke joins in the laughter. "I'd agree with Saij, lighten up a bit." Locke stands up. "Well, as fun as this is, I'm keeping you both from your task, and bandits are probably trying their luck again. If you want to talk, train, or borrow books, go to the Demon's Den. Oh, and ask around your group. I want to know who else saw the Kingdom fall." Locke begins walking away, waving. "See ya!"

@Mmetafour

Saij stood, wiping off his robes and holding his hand out to Sara, who stood without taking it, leaning on her spear and rising herself as she frowned a bit at him. They watched as Locke slowly grew distant in the sands, continuing their trek home. "how am I supposed to intimidate your enemies when you're working against me the whole time Saij?" she said quietly but seriously. This time he didn't respond with a smile "you aren't...Locke wasn't my enemy, and he wasn't yours, your intimidating tactic could have made him one though. If he wanted to harm us, he'd have done it a long time ago, and you'd know that if you were looking with your eyes and not your spear" he sounded almost a little disappointed. "I realize you want to protect me, and yourself" he looked over at her, her gaze now on the sand, still frozen in a fierce glare. "but everyone isn't against us, we CAN trust some people in the desert" "some! Saij, not everyone! not random people who wear cloaks and have no respect for y-" "no respect!" he cut her off, stopping in the sand, now a bit upset himself. "Sara, he sat down, he SAT in the sand after you were rude to him." she was silent for a moment, looking at him a bit betrayed, and slightly surprised. "how often, do we meet someone in the desert so compliant? how often do we meet someone with power like that, who's first instinct isn't to simply kill us or attack us Sara? what you did was embarrassing, it was out of line and its not the way that members of the Air Kingdom treat strangers that they come across." he stated seriously. Sara, looked at him with fire, with a heat that matched the desert around them, but he gave her no quarter, his own face matched her fierce glare. They remained silent and still for several moments before Sara broke her gaze and walked past him. Saij looked up into the sky before taking a deep breath....he felt heavy again. He clutched his bag, turning to follow his companion through the desert sands.

The bells of the towers began to ring as the people of the kingdom gathered to the castle, and the nobles poured into the throne room. Today was the day that Sekatsu would be crowned king, due to his poor deceased mother. Once everything was settled the ceremony began as Sekatsu walked towards the throne, it was finally within his grasp. He did his best to stay solemn in front of the crowd. Finally, after what seemed an eternity he reached the throne and sat in it. Some words were spoken by nobles, describing Sekatsu's claim to the throne. It was his turn to speak to those before him. "This is both a sad and momentous day for our kingdom. With the absence of my deceased mother, it hardly seems right. She ruled with kindness to our people, as well as those outside of the kingdom....." he continued telling the people what they wished to hear, after all he could see into their minds. After the ceremony had finished Sekatsu walked out to the balcony that his mother so often did. You could see most of the kingdom from here, it was hard to imagine it was his now.

Bellatrix gave him a small smile before burring her face into his chest once more. "G-Good..cause I'll always want you around. Always." She mumbled into his chest. Some of it wasn't very clear, but the gist of what she could say to the loving pet was 'I'll always want you.' Which was true. Bellatrix would always want him. Perhaps not in the way he wanted, but still she wanted him. Aermik was very dear to her and of course she knew she had to let him go sooner or later, but she really..really didn't want to.
@Airagog
Aermik nodded, kissing his queen on the cheek. "I'll return." He said as he shouldered his supplies and walked off. He had a mission. He needed to find his daughter. He walked out into the courtyard and looked east. He figured if there was ever a place to start, it'd be the air kingdom, one of the four not present at their meeting and therefore one who might not recognize her.

Em shifted, feeling the duke's calculating gaze on her. Part of her wanted to turn invisible right in front of him and flee from the dinner table, but she'd never insult her new queen. Resigning to stay for the duration of the meal with no more mishap leaving, no matter how many cracks could form in the next hour or so, the mage continued eating as if nothing were different. Something moved at the edge of her vision and she angled her gaze toward it, not moving her head in its direction. Murc, wholly blue-violet and image flickering with magic, stared at her from under an enchantment of invisibility, watching her with concern. Em hated that look. It meant he didn't approve of her actions, that he was trying to look after her. She didn't need looking after, that's why she'd left- to prove she could make it on her own. Shooting a glare to Murc, she meant to ask him to go back to the room. Still invisible, the edges of his ghost-like body quivering, the lizard remained sitting there. Em flicked her gaze back to her dinner and continued eating, ignoring him.

A great cheer was heard from all of the courtyard, as Galandor presented Elsbeth with two swords. The scabbard was as dark as her armor, and the Scorching Sun was emblazoned in the center. With these swords, you shall be known as the Queen of the Scorching Sun, General of the Blaze Guard!" A roar came from the soldiers, all cheering and hailing, as the nobles clapped more loudly than ever. Galandor smiled as he clapped as well. "Address your soldiers, General."
Time has slowed within the moment. Observing the blades with upmost care, she had began to understand the hidden meaning behind their names as she looked onto them further. The two blades were similar, yet distinct as they came. They matched their new owner all the same - as a symbol of the Scorching Sun, in both mark and symbolism. Elsbeth had wondered how long it had took for Galandor to think of such names. However, she had little time to think on the weapons themselves or test them, for the time to address the soldiers was now. Stepping forward just a little, she had firmed her stance and began her speech in her strongest commanding voice. "...Soldiers of the Blaze Guard, I stand before you today, as nor a superior to be feared, or a noble in General's gear. I stand here today rather as an ally to you all, in this time of looming tension and talks of war. I may be somewhat notorious, given my ordeals in the sands of the Air Kingdom, but I assure my loyalty and trust to our King and Emperor, Galandor Thurion Maxwell, for as long as he may live. To my blade, Helios, I swear my loyalty - To Apollo, my trust. And to you all, I swear to protect the citzens of Orbis and serve the kingdom as may be asked of me... and I shall accomplish this; Through Heart!". Putting her blades, Helios & Apollo, upon her chest, she emphasized her speech with a stern attitude. At first, silence filled the courtyard, the tension of it all crushing beneath her tough exterior. For but a second, she had began to question her action - but suddenly, a roar ensued throughout the lower level. "STRENGTH!" roared the Blaze Guard, the clapping of nobles drowned by their voices. The overwhelming support was quite frankly astounding. Addressing Galandor, she returned to her usual tone once more and faced him a renewed smile; "It seems they have taken to me well, don't you think? I couldn't ask for a more welcoming army if I tried."

(Well played with those blade names, Raizel. Well played. :P )

Looking at her Faolin saw her glance sideways fixedly at a piece of wall. He looked where she looked. Silently he looked in the same place. Something was their he could tell but whatever it was it meant no harm. Looking at the plate below him he ate some food. Silently he looked at Emily again. She was shooting a glare in the direction then she returned to eating ignoring whoever and whatever was on that wall. He nodded then ate slowly. He silently watched her then returned to eating.

"I developed the culture of trust. They trust me, and I trust you, so they trust you." Galandor clapped along the nobles as the soldiers roared and cheered. "Impressive work. You raised the morale of the soldiers in just a few lines." He gave the order to return the soldiers to their posts, and the nobles started leaving as well. "The soldiers needed someone they could rely directly. I'm too distant to provide any support. The morale was low, with the talks of war. Now they have someone to look up to. And someone really capable." An aura of pleasant warmth flowing from him as Galandor smiled. "Think... Elsbeth, the Demon General, Queen of the Scorching Sun... The bards will speak of this years forward!" Galandor started walking back to the castle. "So, how do you like the Shaper Blades? I got the assistance of the wizards in enchanting this. Combining spells has proven to be quite... volatile, but I think it fits your skills quite well. Come on, give them a try. They're bound to you, now."
(Thought of it on the fly, glad you like it. :D )
The praise began to overflow Elsbeth a slight bit, a blush more deep than seen before returning to her cheeks. "I sure hope they speak of me, but a little hasty for praise, I must say. I don't feel I've truly proved myself... yet." she replied, attaching the twin swords' scabbards to a belt attached to her armour set after a few adjustments. Unsheathing Helios, she quickly achieved a battle stance, transforming it into a longsword with ease.

As if imagining an enemy directly in front of her, she began with a quick thrust that for some might've rivaled the swiftness of a rapier. Holding the stance until the last second, similar to the style she took during their spar, she quickly changed tactics in the face of what would be the enemy. Shifting her weight sideways, Helios began to morph into a more irregular weapon - it had taken the form of a metallic whip, which contained the momentum from Elsbeth's change of direction. Twisting her body back into the enemy's direction, the whip kept its' form until predicted impact, where then it could be seen that the weapon has changed forms once more, into a scythe not too dissimilar from Queen Bellatrix's - it was the first she had seen such a weapon, after all. In theory, if her target had guard up initially, they no longer had it up now. However, Elsbeth has not yet finished. After the momentum of the swing had mostly dissipated, she changed her direction once more to face them, only to swing one more time, with what would try to be a final blow with a battle axe. It had all happened in a matter of seconds, but it was clear to see that the average opponent would not survive such a combination with ease.

Returning Helios to its' original form, Elsbeth turned back to the Emperor, and began walking with him, a slight sweat to her effort. "...The potential certainly is great. I'll have to experiment with them more when I have the chance - I can't waste a present once given, can I? I'll repay your efforts with my work the best I can." she spoke, looking up at the castle in slight curiosity. "Speaking of which, have we any news of the other kingdoms? We just returned last night, but I worry a lot can happen in even a few hours in time."

After Aermik left, Bellatrix left to the nearest drawing room. Once inside she pulled out Galandor's letter and set it down before getting parchment, ink and quill to respond to him. After placing those materials out of the way a bit, she reread his letter. A small smile crept onto her lips as she read, it making her immensely relieved to know her priests were being treated with respect and getting along with his people quite well. A few seconds later and she was already writing to him.

Dear Galandor,

It brings me joy to hear that they are getting along and already working well. I do hope the undead are also helping the est they can in the forges. As for my..issues..they only seem to become worse. After your departure my dear daughter Tina ran away. Aermik has gone to look for her but I fear that she has gotten herself into more danger than she can handle..

On the upside of things, Quaani's Champion has returned home after being missing for thirty five years. I do hope you'll come meet him as well as perhaps stay longer than your last visit~

I hope things are well in Orbis.

Love,

Bellatrix

P.S. I would love to come to Orbis. I'm very certain I'd love it there.

P.P.S. I'm making that lovely little ruby into a necklace so I shall always have a piece of you nearby.

With that last line, a bit of a blush had settled onto Bellatrix's face. She wasn't sure why she felt inclined to say that, but regardless it was already there and there was no sense in starting over on the letter. With a small giggle, she folded the parchment and placed it into a pitch black envelope then poured a bit of purple wax on it and sealed it with the crest of Quanni. Once the wax dried, she held the letter in her hands and had black flames envelope it, then it was gone. Fire messages. Best way to get a letter to someone quickly. The black envelope would appear in front of Galandor within a few seconds.
