Erica felt like a fish out of water. To say the least, she was a bit overwhelmed by the words and information that was being thrown around. While Erica had thought she was still "in the loop" with the latest of Nico's murder, that seemed it wasn't the case.
Erica, for her part, didn't have a particularly strong tie to Nico. Her work with the National Guard and deployment overseas had ensured that by and large she had lived a different life up until now than most of the group. Granted, she knew who she was with, but years of separation can change people. Certainly, it had changed her. As such, she had taken the opportunity to let the others speak, and let her observe. Taking in every minute detail yielded some interesting details. The Dark Knight had been right, some of them were too close to the subject matter of the case. And yet, listening to Arachne's logic, she was also right. The Dark Knight was very close to his case, too. It was fairly clear to her, that out of all of them, she was the one who was the most neutral in the case.
Clearing her throat after having not spoken so far, Erica stepped into the front of the group. "Lady Sleuth," she said, giving a nod towards the Dark Knight. "Now, I'd like for us to cut to the chase. This work, obviously, is very important to you. That much is clear, but if what you said is true, you're in way over your head. And you know it." Erica took a moment, pacing for a moment before continuing.
"Now, let's clear the air here. We each have an equal amount of leverage on each other. Rest be reassured, I could just as easily deduce who you are easily as you think you could deduce me. I have as many nukes pointed to you as you have at me, not even including everyone else here. So please, for the sake of avoiding armageddon, let's not make paltry threats that you have no intention of backing up.
"As for the case itself, it's very important to you. But not just the victims of the case. Your work defines who you are. It's your identity. And just like any workaholic, you crave approval through your work. And who do you think will approve of all of your work? No one will, except for us. So whether you want to admit it or not, you want us - and need us - for the approval and admiration you crave."
