The Secret

Zachary just shrugs and watches her. The following day at school he didn't speak to anyone, he went to his locker calmly and opened it, taking out some books he needed for the day from it.

Akira debated on whether or not go go talk to Zach but decided against it. It was obvious he didn't want to open up to her so what was even the point. She gathered some of her books out of her locker and quietly went to her first class, sitting down and keeping her eyes down without a word.

Zachary wanders into his first class, he knew Akira would be as she always was along with many of his other lessons. Since he say next to her in this particular lesson, he had to stay there until the seating plan changed so he calmly took a seat there. He took out a letter, which had been a scholarship to a boys academy and read it.

Akira kept her eyes down as she wrapped her arms around her waist. "You're seriously letting her come between us," she said before she realized she had said it. She didn't like fighting with him, it only hurt her even more. She would rather deal with the physical pain than that kind of emotional pain. "I'm sorry if I've done something to you to make you not trust me..." She added before glancing over at him, noticing the paper. "What's that?"

Zachary nods vaguely and then places the letter in his bag silently. "Oh, it's just a scholarship to a boys academy. That's all" He says and began to write a few notes down before the teacher entered the classroom and got their boring lesson started.

Akira dropped her jaw and immediately found her mouth dry. Before she could stop them, the tears began falling. She grabbed her bag and stood up, quickly walking out of the room as she ignored the teacher's calls for her to come back. Akira cried as she headed out of the school and down the road to her house.

Zachary seemed confused. Again? All he had done was answered her question. At the end of the day, he began to walk back to his den, placing his school bag down and sitting down on a lot with a sigh.

Akira got home and threw herself on her bed, crying uncontrollably. She knew it seemed strange bit the last thing she wanted was for him to leave and it seemed like that's exactly what he was going to do. She began to reach for her phone but shrank back and forced herself to sleep. The next day she didn't feel like going to school so she just laid in her bed, allowing small sobs to escape as she thought about everything.

Zachary went to school the following day. He returned home with some flowers and went off to where Akira lived and then dropped them by her door with a little note saying he was sorry and a little wolf toy that looked exactly like him. He began to head back to his den.

Akira had changed into a pair of her favorite batman shorts and a black tank top. Her hair was up in a messy bun and now she sat silently on the couch, staring at the blank tv when she heard the next door neighbors start to bark. Being her curious self, she got up and opened the door, noticing the items at her door. She stifled a small smile before quickly looking around, her eyes locking on him as he walked. "When were you going to tell me you were leaving?" she asked as she watched him carefully.

Zachary stopped and looks to her sadly. "I'm not leaving, it was just a scholarship I got a few weeks ago, I don't know whether to take it or not. Besides, I never got the chance to explain that because you rushed off like you did before" He snooks his head and sighs. "Well, nevermind" He says and began to wander off sadly.

"Then why are you leaving now? Can't bring yourself to talk to me?" She said with overwhelming hurt in her voice. She didn want him to go anywhere. And right now the only thing she did want was for him to hold her though she knew the chances of that happening.

Zachary sighs and began to wander back towards her. "There is nothing to talk about, you were the one who walked away in the first place" He states quietly, wrapping his arms around himself.

"What was I supposed to do? Sit there and let those people watch me cry my eyes out?" She said as she crossed her arms. "It's not easy knowing the one person I've ever actually cared about is considering leaving."

Zachary looks at her sadly and lightly hangs his head. Maybe she actually did care about him more then he had thought? He wraps his arms around himself and whines softly.

Akira sighed softly and stepped off her porch. She walked over to him and gently wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his shoulder. "I really do care about you and I don't want you to go."

Zachary nuzzles her and then held her gently in his arms, kissing her gently in the process. "I-I'm sorry" He tells her truthfully, in a gentle manner.

She kissed him back and pulled back gently. She took his hand and led him inside, taking the flowers, toy wolf, and note inside as well. She sat them down on the table next to the chair and sat down on the couch.

Zachary follows and then settles down on the sofa beside her, placing his head into her chest lightly as he gives a soft whine of appreciation.

Akira smiled softly and gently ran her hand through his hair. "It's okay sweetheart..." She said softly as she kissed his head. She closed her eyes and held him as she began singing softly to him.

Zachary smiles and soon drifted off to sleep. He woke up a few minutes later and was curled up in the carpet, bear the fireplace.

She smiled softly as she watched him. She stood up and smiled softly as she kissed his head gently. She laid down beside him as she laid her head on him affectionately. "Relax... everything's okay," she whispered softly as she smiled at him.

Zachary smiles and nods, everything would be okay now. Soon enough he had graduated and had turned eighteen at last, he soon had patched things up with Mimi as she had found someone new to marry and spend the rest of her life with. He spent a lot of time with Akira, then.

School. Over with. Akira finally graduated and was actually happy for Mimi when she found someone. She now sat on her couch, playing with Zachary's hair as she thought. "I think we should take a trip somewhere to celebrate graduation," she said as she leaned over and kissed his head.

Zachary nods to her and smiles, nuzzling against her gently as he wraps his arms around himself and spaced out slightly, staring at the blaring TV in front of them.
