The Secret

Zachary watches her and then wraps his arms around himself. "I did have homework" He says, he could be a really bad liar when he wanted to be. He sat down just outside of his den and stares into space, and tries to drift off to sleep, hoping she would probably leave.

"You can't have homework if you can't have school so why did you lie to me? Why did you feel you needed to lie to me? So I matter that little to you? If you don't want me to be around you then tell me," she said with frustration as she crossed her arms and looked at him with hurt in her eyes.

"Give me strength" He muttered quietly under his breath. Zachary had no idea how insensitive girls could be over the tiniest of things. "Fine I'm sorry, happy now?" He tells her with a roll of his eyes.

"No. Thanks for the sarcasm," she said with a shaky voice as she turned and ran out, not stopping until she got to her house. She walked in and slammed the door angrily before sitting on the floor. She leaned against the door and hugged herself tightly as she cried.

Zachary watches her. He was definitely moving. The next few days afterwards her began to look at the windows of a local estate agent. He took a leaflet and began to flick through it on a bench.

Akira stayed in her house the following days, not moving from her couch to do anything other than get a glass of water. She didn't eat and couldn't quit crying over someone who obviously didn't want to be with her.

Zachary wanders around town for a few minutes and then his in the forest for a few days. He soon began to gather his things as he had found a new place to move to, somewhere where no one would find him.

Akira didn't move whatsoever, knowing there was no reason to anymore. She hated not seeing him but she wanted him to be happy, even if that meant her own pain. She finally forced herself to get up to avoid her mother and headed into her bathroom, closing and locking the door. When she emerged, a bandage was wrapped around her left wrist and her tears had dried. She walked up to her room and changed into a pair of shorts and an oversized tshirt. She threw her hair up messily and curled up on her bed, gently grabbing the toy wolf and holding it close to her as she listened to the rain.

Zachary stood up and then began to walk to Akira's house. He gently knocks on the door and wraps his arms around himself, hoping she would answer so that he could apologise for hurting her feelings lately. He didn't mean to.

Erica, Akira's mom, cautiously opened the door and looked at Zach cautiously. "She's upstairs in her room," she finally said as she stepped aside and allowed him to walk in. Akira remained silent, listening carefully and sighed as she hugged the wolf closer to her, wincing at her wounds.

Zachary smiles weakly and steps inside. It felt such a long time since he had been there. He wanders upstairs and then knocks on Akira's bedroom door softy, then stood, waiting for an answer again.

Akira slowly got up and took a deep breath as she held the wolf close to her chest. She went to her door and hesitantly turned the knob, opening it and looking up at him. She opened her mouth to say something but closed it once more as she walked back to her bed, allowing him to walk in. "Close the door behind you," she said, her voice raspy from lack of hydration. Despite the too big clothes, it wasn't hard to tell she had lost quite a bit of weight, only eating enough to keep her alive.

Zachary steps inside and shut the door behind him, looking around, then at her. She looked terrible, why was she so skinny? When was the last time she took a shower? What was that smell? He turns up his nose lightly and then opens the window lightly, wandering back over to her. He didn't know what to say, this was quite an overreaction.

Akira watched him silently, sinking in on herself as she tightened her grip on the wolf as she pulled her knees up to her. "Well?" She said quietly, wincing slightly at the pain in her throat. She needed water but she couldn't care less right then.

Zachary plays with a few items on her desk. "I'm sorry" He mumbles quietly to her, barely looking at her. He rolls his eyes to himself. Girls were so sensitive, he thought to himself for the one millionth time.

Obviously not if you can't even look at me she thought as she looked down. "If you didn't want to be with me all you had to do was say so. It seems petty to be so worked up over a lie about homework but you don't get it. I trusted you and you broke that. How do you expect me to react when you lie to my face, multiple times, and then avoid me. I drink and eat enough to survive but no more. The cuts on my wrist are slowly healing and I haven't even found the will to take a shower because I know I have no reason to. It's not like I'm going anywhere and I'm not expecting anyone so there's really no point. It seemed you were done with me so...there's just no point," she said as she looked at him, the pain in her throat from unshed tears beginning to become unbearable.

Zachary puts an item down, back on the desk and looks over at her. "You were the one who was leaving in the first place out of the blue. You didn't even tell me in advance, but nevermind. I'm so, so yeah. Over and done with" He mutters as he crosses his arms.

"I told you I wanted to move out of this house. I said I wasn't moving far and I promised I wasn't leaving you. When I said I wanted to move I meant exactly what every other eighteen year old means. I meant I wanted to get out from under the same roof as my parents," she said as she stood up and looked at him with wide eyes. "Besides you didn't seem too eager to tell me about the scholarship either," she said as she crossed her arms, accidentally glancing over at the flowers he had given her.

"That was months ago. Plus, I didn't even take the scholarship, and.... You know what? Nevermind. All you ever want to do is argue so forget it" Zachary mutters and began to wander towards the door, at least he tried. She was the one who was bringing up old shit from months back.

"What if you had taken it? When would you have planned on getting my opinion about it. I won't wven consider moving far because I can't bring myself to be far from you. You lied to my face. All I did was state the obvious. You mean everything to me and I mean nothing to you. I'm sorry if I've done something to make you think so little of me but if you ever decide that I mean more to you than what you let on then I'll be here," she said softly. The words killed her to say but she also knew they needed to be said. She collapsed back onto her bed and laid her head on the pillow, crying into the wolf she refused to let go of.

Zachary shrugs lightly, since he was turning around to say something, he missed a step on the stairs and tumbled straight down, considering they were made of wood if made a large crashing sound and if hurt when he began falling down, when he finally did get to the last step there was a cut on his head with blood dripping down.

The sounds made Akira jump out of her bed. Without thinking, she ran out and stared in horror at him. Hurrying down to him, she looked around frantically before running to the kitchen and wetting a washcloth. She ran back, fully aware of the tears falling as she gently cleaned his cut them applied pressure to it. She used the last of her strength to drag him upstairs to her room and onto her bed. She collapsed into a chair as she kept pressure on the wound, knowing it would probably be best to not call the ambulance since his anatomy was different than a normal person. Her mind flashed through their lives from the first time they met, causing her to start crying hysterically. She clutched his shirt tightly as she cried into it, unable to even think about what could possibly happen.

Zachary watches her, he flinches lightly. He really wasn't as bad as she thought he just had a few bruises, a cut and his leg was sour. That's all. He winces each time she dabs at the cut, until all the blood was gone. He actually just wanted to be at his den again, he mind of regretted coming here, it was as if her house held lots traps that ended up hurting him in the end. He didn't say anything, he was still in shock as she dabbed the cut.
