The Rebel [KurtH6355]

Maci manages to navigate through the ramshackle barricade without much issue, and it seems like you could follow her easily as well. She arrives at the boarded-up door. "Think we could get through this?" she asks you.

"If we pry it off." Francis says, maneuvering through the initial barricade. "Good idea?" He asks her, turning his head to her. "I mean, if we got through it, I'm sure so could the Watchmen. If we could get past this door, and re-board it, then that'd be best - But then we'd have to get back out."

Maci nods and begins to try and pull at one of the planks. "If they get through it, then whatever. Hopefully we'll have lost them in the tunnels by then," she says as she grunts slightly and yanks a board free. "Maybe we could re-board it... but I don't wanna waste time, and I have no tools with me," she says.

"Move, I'm stronger. You should keep watch." Francis says, before stepping over and beginning to pull at the planks. He tried not too make too much sound, but some is sure to be made, anyway.

Maci nods and peels away from the door, lightly ducking down behind a stack of boxes and peering into the dark corridor behind her. You manage to pry the two remaining planks loose, whereupon the mutie girl looks over her shoulder. "We ready to move?" she asks.

"We're ready to move." Francis confirms, slowly pulling open the door, which screeches softly due to it's long time of dissuse. He holds up his Orderkeeper to the darkness. What could the person whom fortified this tunnel been trying to keep locked out....Or, locked in?

Your flashlight illuminates the area ahead of you. Maci moves through the door, and takes a few steps forwards, looking around. "Pretty dark," she remarks. "Let's see what we can find up ahead," she says, sounding eager to get going.

"Hopefully not a crazed shotgun-wielding asshole. However, we'd get a shotgun." Francis said with a hint of humour in his voice, before following Maci through the door, using his flashlight to guide them, his gun to protect.

You and Maci walk for a rather long while. Occasionally, you encounter bones and rust-colored blood streaks across the wall, but they appear ancient.

Eventually, you feel a stench creep into your nostrils. Not long later, Maci finds a portion of the wall that appears to be in disrepair. You could crawl through this hole onto a small walkway in the sewers, by the looks of it.
"Think we should go in here?" Maci asks. "Smelly, but less spooky."

"Yeah. Then we can escape through a manhole." Francis says in hope. He crawls through into the sewers. "I'm gonna want that pack once we get above ground, by the way." Francis adds.

Maci looks over her shoulder and nods. "Gotcha," she says. You continue to walk through the reeking sewer system for some time. "So, uh... Where'd you come from, really?" Maci asks as you both walk along.

"Let's just focus on getting topside. All that's important is I was passing that room at the right time." Francis says, avoiding his identity and discussion of his past. He continued walking, searching the ceiling and the sides of the sewers for exits. Damn, it really did stink to high hell on here.

Maci doesn't prod any further, continuing to ravel through the sewers with you. Growing tired of breathing the stench, she puts her arm up to her nose and breathes through her shirt.

You make your way around a turn, and see that there is another person on the walkway. A worker, by the looks of it. They're wearing a blue jumpsuit, utility belt, blue hardhat and face mask. They seem to be engaged in repairing something, so they haven't noticed you yet.

"Shit," Maci whispers, her hand falling to her waistband where her Orderkeeper is kept.

Francis walks up to him, in Watchman uniform, with Maci held. "Hey, you there! Could you point me to the nearest exit?" He asks him in an authoritative voice, his Orderkeeper in his holster.

The worker becomes slightly startled, and stands up from the pipe he had been working on. Although you disguise was inadequate when it came to fooling other police officers, it seems to work on random plumbers. "Uh-- Sure, sir." He leaves his toolbox on the ground and waves for you to follow him.

Maci winks back at you and suppresses a smirk. You continue to assume the role of a police officer, and the plumber continues to buy it. You drag Maci along, following the sewer worker until he enters a room containing a metal ladder. "The surface is up there, sir," he tells you.

"Thank you. Return to work," Francis begins, but then says intimidatingly, "My presence here is top secret. Do not tell anyone what you saw. If anyone asks, you simply worked all day." He ends. He then points the Orderkeeper at Maci, the safety on and his finger off the trigger. "Get going." He growls, continuing to uphold his character.

"Understood, officer." The blue-jumpsuited worker nods quickly and seems to swallow heavily before scampering off, likely to get back to his tools so he can continue his repairwork on the pipe. Maci's middle finger extends and she waves it at the man after his back is turned. "Seeya later, buddy," she says quietly as he disappears around a corner in the sewer. Afterwards, she turns her attention to ladder, hopping on and beginning to climb. "God, this place stinks. Let's get outta here."

"Right behind you." Francis says, holstering his Orderkeeper and climbing after Maci, extremely glad to finally be getting the fuck outta here. "We hijack the first car we see, off the driver if there is one so he can't alert the Watchmen, then get to the slums. Good plan?" Francis asks, seemingly not caring about how his plan involved slaying an innocent.

Maci reaches the top of the ladder, and you follow not long after. You can hear sounds of the street outside of this room, so this door presumably takes you outside.

"I don't know, that'll definitely draw a lot of attention to us," Maci says.

"If we find a secluded car, maybe we can do that." Francis suggests. He then strips the Watchman uniform on, however, he continues to wear the vest, concealing it under his clothing. Made him look bulky - And his muscles not proportionate. But, whatever. He proceeded to finally open up the door to the outside world, and take a few steps outside.

You and Maci walk through the door. Finally, fresh air is drawn into your nostrils. Semi-fresh air. You're still in a city... the city slums, especially. A junker rolls past on the street, but you turn a corner and see a small car lot with a few cars in it anyway. You overhear a conversation from two civilians.

"So... What if Wosten rolled in? Then what'd happen?" you hear a woman's voice ask.

"I don't know. I don't think it could happen, anyway," a man replies.

"Yeah, but what if it did?"

"I don't know. It makes me scared... most of the... people ...over there aren't even human freakin' beings." It was true... Most of Wosten's population consisted of "muties." Though, it was possible that the government just exaggerated these numbers.

Maci gives you a pouty look, but it doesn't seem like she's overly affected by it. She's probably grown used to being looked down upon by the general Mirian populace.

"This is where we part. The pack." Francis said, gesturing to the backpack on Maci's back which he had given her. He whispers to her with his next words - "Keep the guns. You'll need them to protect yourself. You know how people get with muties...Stay safe. I didn't save you just to have you die once we get topside." He said. It was a shame, how people treated them. There were many racists in Mirian, he was not among them. He believed that all were equal, even if some's faces looked different.

Maci unslings the backpack and hands it over to you. "Alright... if you say so," she shrugs. "Though, I don't exactly know what to do now. But, uh... I'll get out of your hair," she says. "Thanks for saving me, man." She looks around the street, continuing to stand there.

Francis reaches into his pocket and takes out his wallet, before extracting thirty certs and placing them in her hand. "That should get you a place to sleep tonight and some food. You'll have to work. Anyway, see you." He says, slinging the backpack over his shoulder and walking in the opposite direction, toward his home.
