Mayohaboa (Yo)
"Goddamn savage...Indian scum...What's a slave doing with pirates?..."
Insults and gentle looks of sympathy were thrown Yo's way, but both were wrong to be given him. The insults, of course, came from the Spanish men in the Royal Port who dictated the people around and forced them to work for them. Even seeing someone of his color work for a ship brought them a bit of disgust, something he was quite used to from his travels with the ship. He had also learn to ignore how some of the men at ports would question his captain. After all, she had practically saved him, and men like them didn't possess the value one needed to even have his captain's tongue in their mouth. But if Yo attempted to do anything about it, he knew it'd surely end badly. Even so, it made him pump with anger. As for the looks of sympathy, he simply wished he could explain to them. You see the people who gave him these gazes were like him and so they assumed that he was enslaved when he had been freed.
The young boy of sixteen was loading the ship, much like many others were, and so he carried several full bags worth of heavy items. Yo was a larger boy, in both height and muscle, then the rest of the lackeys of the ship that were put to work to stock the ship, so he carried more then what your average sailor did. As he walked up up the ship, only sweating slightly due to the fact that this was the sort of heat that he had grown up with, Yo noticed a boy stumble further in front of him but quickly he regained his balance. Right behind him, however, some seemingly random girl was thrown by his sudden movement and so she began to fall to her side. Moving quickly, Yo rushed to her and kept her steady by taking a bag off of her. She looked up to him and opened her mouth to offer her appreciation but he simply nodded his head before she could and he made his way up to the ship.
As he set down the bags of cargo, the boy briefly noticed the wild antic's going around the captain. Naturally, some of the crew's most eccentric people surrounded her as they all seem to speak at once demanding for her attention. In skillfully fashion, she met their needs fairly quickly and smoothly. Before he knew it, Yo had been staring at the scene and so he caught his captain's eyes for a moment (@Queen Rai). He gave her a small, kind smile and bowed his head before diverting his eyes to the sea. The sun reflected off of the magnificent waves in the same fashion that it reflected off of his amber eyes and his dark skin. He stood out, this was a fact, but he also sunk into the shadows in the same manner. Yes, most would assume that this was no where near his home as anyone could see by the contrast of his skin color and the rest of the crews, but in more ways then one they were absolutely wrong. To begin with, "Puerto Rico" as the Spanish and so on now called it, was only but an island or so away from Jamaica. That was home, and he wasn't far from it at all. Not only that, but he was on the ship and the ship was his home as well. It was his selected residence and that said a lot about him. Like a large part of the crew, he'd picked Poison as his home, and only those who were already dying make a choice like that.
