“Fine then,” he hissed, “But this isn’t over. I’ve got questions that’ll need to be answered at some point or another,” said Sirius, deciding to let it rest for now.

“No, since you said I shouldn’t. I’ll respect your wishes Lupin,” said Sirius. As much as he wanted to tell, he wasn’t going to betray his friend. “Your secret is safe with me- whatever that secret is…” he told him quietly.

Remus swallowed. “I’m… I’m sorry. You were never supposed to know. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize Remus. I only came here to check on you. You seemed distressed and clearly you are. I can’t unsee those scars… I’m worried about you. The burns too- they looked pretty nasty,” said Sirius with a frown.

“I… I ran out of burn cream,” he muttered. “They’ll be fine, though.”

“Does Pomfrey have some? You should ask her. I don’t want anything to get infected and hurt more,” said a very concerned Sirius.

“Right- I told you I wouldn’t do anything with you telling me. That’s for you and her. As much as I want to- I won’t. You can trust me Lupin. Forever and always,” replied Sirius.

Remus nodded. “I… I hate lying to you. I don’t want to. I just… I can’t put you at risk.”

“Well if that’s it then I trust you Remus. Whatever it is you don’t need to tell me. Just as long as you’re safe. That’s all I care about,” replied Sirius.

“Need anything else from me? Or do you think you’ll be able to fall asleep?” Sirius asked. He didn’t know what he’d do. Sing him a lullaby? Hell, he’d do anything for Remus at this point.

“Are you sure Remus? You need your rest. We’ve got a busy day tomorrow,” mentioned Sirius.

“Absolutely Remus,” said Sirius with a grin. He didn’t know why but he was grinning from ear to ear now. He began to climb into Remus’ bed with him. He looked at the scarred torso of his friend. To him it wasn’t disgusting. It only made Sirius want to be closer to and protect Lupin more.

“What’s up Remus?” Sirius asked, looking over to Lupin. He appeared to be looking up at the ceiling.

“Could you ever forgive someone who has lied to you about everything they are?”

“Err- that’s a deep question…” said Sirius, taking a moment to ponder it. “I suppose I could though. I’m sure if someone did that, they’d have a good reason for lying. Plus if it’s my best friend, I could easily forgive them.”

Sirius nodded. He leaned back a little, still lying next to Remus in his bed. He’d stay with him for as long as he needed.

Remus watched Sirius’s chest rise and fall. It was soothing, knowing he was safe. Especially after the fight today. “Thank you.”
