The grate ex-cape

Shade followed Emily further back into the caves and then proceeded to hug himself again, to keep his wings from dragging on the cave floor. Shade still was a bit angry with Emily for even suggesting that she slap him. After all they'd been through in the lab, why would any of the mutants want to hurt one another? It was a bit sickening to Shade.

~Lighthouse~

Larassa huffed with annoyance when she couldn't see anyone. Shifting her eyes back to normal, Larassa turned and headed back inside the lighthouse. She then went straight to the kitchen as she began searching for what she'd hope was some coffee in this god forsaken place.

Chip drew herself up into a ball, wrapping her own wings around herself. "w-what if she finds us up here?" she said, clearly afraid. "her wing is broken. She can't fly up here. If she found us, she'd have to climb up. We would have time to fly away." Emily said softly to her.

Shade silently nodded in agreement with what Emily said. It was true, if Larassa had broken a wing then she'd be stuck for a few days until it healed. But, with nobody to set her bones straight, her wing could be permanently messed up. In a sudden flurry of movement, Shade soon was upside down with his claws dug in the cave ceiling. He peered down at everyone, listening in on the conversation, but feeling more comfortable on the ceiling as opposed to being down and amidst the group.

Scarlet tapped at Emily's foot. Emily looked down at the soaked bird. "yeah yeah, I hadn't forgotten the deal." she lay down and lay one Wong out flat for Scarlet to roll on. Scarlet wasted no time in diving on. Then shade moved to hang himself from the ceiling. Chip whimpered and her ball curled up tighter.

While Shade was comfortable, he frowned when he saw Chip's distressed state. Mentally grumbling to himself, Shade lightly flew down from his perch, landing on the cave floor with a small grunt. He then hugged himself to prevent his wings from dragging before he silently walked over to Chip's side. He then sat down beside her and silently looked at her with his head cocked, as if the question of whether she was okay or not had already been asked.

Chip stayed curled up. "oh, shade, I think you frightened her. Chip, it's okay." Emily said, smiling to the pair. Chip looked up over her reddy brown wings. She looked to shade. "O-oh. Okay..."

(same excuse as riders of Berk)

Shade blinked at Chip, not understanding how he'd scared her. He always struggled to understand these things. He wasn't the best at expressing himself and so found it hard to understand what others were conveying at times.

They remind in silence for a while, except for Scarlet, who sort of chirped happily in Emily's wing. Even zack cracked a small smile at her actions. "Scarlet, if you wouldn't mind me rolling over. I'll be looking for Larassa again." Scarlet hopped off. Her happy chirping stopped immediately. Emily crawled to the edge again, and peered down at the lighthouse.

Shade remained silent, watching Emily look out at the lighthouse in the distance.

~Lighthouse~

Larassa had found some decent coffee and was now sitting at the kitchen table and drinking it. She definitely would've preferred a hot cocoa, but that didn't seem available here.

Emily crawled back. "it seems all clear. Who votes we make a break for it?" Emily raised her hand a little. Scarlet raised a foot, and chip raised her hand. "let's bail." zack said, standing, running, and diving out of the cave. Chip followed him, and Emily waited for shade to go. She gestured to the cave exit for him to go first. She then picked Scarlet up. "you can slack off and I'll carry you." she said to the owl, who did not complain one single little bit.

Shade struggled to his feet, careful to not trip or stumble over his wings. He then hugged himself as he walked to the edge of the cave. Leaning out over the edge, Shade slowly began falling before he spread out his arms and wings. He became airborne and then flew up to join his friends.

Emily quickly followed suit, leaping of the edge and extending her white wings. She banked right, as they all did because left is Larassa. They powered away.

~The House~

The grumble of a car pulled up nearby the house, and the sound stopped. Moments later, Michael walked into the house. "tucker. We can go now." he said.

Shade silently followed along the back end of the group, using his echolocation in the dark lighting to easily follow the group.

~The Lighthouse~

Larassa soon grumbled to herself with frustration towards her lack of healing before crawling back into her cot. Only a few minutes passed before Larassa was asleep again.

~The House~

Tucker froze mid-bite when he heard the car approaching the house. He then heard Michael's voice and relaxed again. Carefully standing up, Tucker winced at some pain from his wing before replying, "All right." He then picked up the leftover vegetables before following Michael to the car. He could only hope that the robot knew how to drive a car safely.

The car Michael had obtained was a well aged Toyota Hilux. It still seemed to be in good condition. Though when they went back out and Michael got in to the drivers seat, the suspension on that side had to work hard. Of course, Michael kept an eye on their surroundings. Have cameras for eyes meant no blind spots, but it had its disadvantages as well.

Tucker was silent as he sat in the passenger seat, shifting in his seat so he wasn't leaning back on his injured wing. He hoped the drive wouldn't be too long since he already was starting to feel claustrophobic in the car. It was spacious, but he still felt like he was in another metal cage in a sense. Shifting his gaze to the forest that they drove through, Tucker forced himself to relax and enjoy the scenery even though it was dark out. Luckily, Tucker's eyes were insanely enhanced due to his peregrine falcon DNA and he could see far beyond the capabilities of a normal human.

They drove for a while, in almost total silence. Michael wasn't a bad driver. He stared straight ahead, eyes unmoving as it wasn't necessary to look around often. Another perk of camera eyes. You see everything as though you were looking right at it. The downside was, his vision barely meets that of human standards. Nothing is as clear to him, so he often has to zoom in a bit to register what signs say. They appeared to be headed in to town. "are your wings sufficiently hidden?" he asked.

Tucker frowned at Michael's question and then said, "Well, no. I'd need a jacket or windbreaker to efficiently hide them. They're a bit obvious with just a shirt on." This being said, Tucker's wings were sticking out just slightly through the back end of his collar while the he had a feather on the seat beside him. That, and the back of his shirt bulged ever so slightly.

"I ask because we will be going into town. Provided you are able to hide them sufficiently, decides whether or not I go to the store again." Michael said, and they rounded a bend. Town appeared ahead if them, while there was a turnoff before it. "so? Shall I proceed I to town?" he asked.

Tucker shrugged and said, "It's not like we can't drive into town. Not many people will be able to see us that well from the car. Also, it'd probably be a good idea for me to get a fresh set of clothing." This said, Tucker glanced down at his torn and slightly bloodied clothing. It would cost certainly draw attention to him within seconds.

"true. I require a new set, as well. I shall search for a clothes shop." they past the turnoff. A minute later, they arrived in the car park of a small shopping complex. "I won't be long. Have any specific requests?" he said as he was getting out. He kept the door open and the car raised back to level. He looked back in, awaiting the response.

Tucker thought for a moment before saying, "I have no idea what people wear these days, but a T-shirt, some jeans, a jacket or windbreaker, and some sneakers should suffice for now." He then widened his eyes as he exclaimed," Oh, and a beanie!" He grinned to himself as he remembered wearing one of those as a child. It'd always been so comfy. Plus, it'd help hide his hair that hadn't been properly cared for in years. It was a messy mop of hair and he was really considering finding some kind of barber shop next. That, or somewhere to shower. He knew he probably didn't smell the best either.

Michael gave a nod. "I'll try to find those things." he said. He walked inside.

~The Coastline~

"should we go back Inland?" Emily asked. "that could be a wise thing to do." Zack said. He began to bank away from the ocean. The others followed.

Tucker nodded at Michael before he left and then sat forward in his seat as he tried moving his wing to see if it'd healed at all. It hurt like a motherf***er and brought tears to his eyes, but Tucker could tell that it had healed at least a little bit.

~Coastline~

Shade paused before following the group as he glanced over at the lighthouse, curious as to what Larassa was up to. He then caught sight of what he thought was a pair of glowing eyes watching him and as his heartbeat sped up, he turned tail and quickly caught up with the rest of the group.
