Larassa ambled down the hallway, her claws making a scratching sound with every step she took. At her side was a scientist and another mutant in a cage. Staying silent and focused ahead, Larassa was curious what the scientists had made this time, but she wasn't about to waste any time getting to know a mutant child. They soon arrived at the cage room, where they stored all of the mutant children and teens. Pressing the button on the wall by the double sliding doors, they opened up and Larassa walked in with the new mutant and the scientist. Flashing her sharp canines at the nearest mutant child, Larassa was pleased when she whimpered and hid in a corner of her cage. Larassa loved to scare the mutants and it was way too easy these days so it seemed.
The scientist tapped her foot annoyingly and Larassa turned around with a frown as she went to pick up the cage. She then walked over to a cage that had some redhead in it and then unceremoniously dumped the cage beside him, the clatter loud and echoing in the room. Larassa then kneeled down in front of the cage and growled at the new mutant, grinning at her new victim. While Larassa grinned at the new mutant, she wondered why the scientists had felt it necessary to give an owl a human brain. She didn't see much logic behind it, but whatever.
(my post (morning post, by the way. Brain not quite at full power) )
The owl in the cage clacked its beak at Larassa when she essentially threw its cage by the other. The owl bounded at the door of the cage, clearly not among those who were afraid of her. Hanging onto the bars of the cage with her feet, the owl agitated screeching. "ITEX will fall..." muttered the redhead quietly. This would be something he did often. Whenever anyone came in the room, they'd hear quietly "ITEX will fall..." from his cage. Every time someone enters the room.
Larassa slapped the owl's claws holding the cage, knowing fully wellt hat she'd put enough power in the slap to hurt the owl to an extent. She then stood sharply and looked right at the redhead when he spoke. Larassa's eyes narrowed and she smirked as she said, "This one's next." Without another word, Larassa picked up the redhead's cage and carelessly tossed it onto the trolley before leaving the room and leaving the scientist to decide what to do with the redhead now.
The scientist blinked for a moment before deciding to do the usual operations on the mutant child since they hadn't really planned on doing anything with him just yet. She rolled him out of the room before heading down a hallway and entering another room. In this room, there was the faint beeping of various machines working while a couple scientists were either typing on computers or working with various vials filled with who knows what. The female scientist rolling the trolley, pushed it to the center of the room before walking away in silence. Not too long later, a young male scientist approached the cage and opened it before holding out his hand and demanding, "Give me your arm." He waited for the redhead's response as he held a needle in his other hand, preparing to take the redhead's blood.
Larassa headed outside of the labs, heading straight for the open field where Erasers were allowed to relax once they were done working for the day or on break. Larassa took a smoke from one of the other high-ranking Erasers and grinned at a joke someone said before noticing that a small group of scientists were heading towards them with a cage on a trolley. Larassa smirked and said to the Erasers near her, "Looks like we get to play, boys." They all jeered and cheered at this, as it meant that the scientists were about to release a mutant in their field for them to hunt and kill for their own pleasure. This helped keep the Erasers in check as they could let out some steam with these hunts. Larassa just hoped that the mutant would be horrified of them. It was always extra fun the more scared the mutants were of the Erasers, especially Larassa, who made a point to be the scariest of them all.
The redhead, code named zeta 6 for future reference, did not respond. He remained still.
Out of sight behind the group, was apparently a human on a sack truck. They had two toys to play with this time. "this one will keep you on your toes." said one of the scientists. "this is more than a little but of fun. This can double as a training exercise. You have no ordered, as usual. Do as you please. But be wary if this guy." she said, and tapped the humans head. "the computer in this one doesn't wanna move. It's not acting how we want it too, either. So it's scrap, for all we care. You may have heard about the incident in B12 with Larry." she continued. She noticed the majority of the erasers yawning. "all you need it know, is the on button." she tossed a remote with a capped button on it, towards Larassa. The scientist wheeling the sack truck stopped and, with help from some of the other scientists, moved the robot off of it and began to leave. They clearly didn't want to be here now that one of them had the button. "it's built to hunt and fight. You'll have a blast. I'll leave you to it." the female scientist began to leave. They left the cage on the trolley.
The scientist frowned at Zeta 6's lack of response and repeated his demand, more abruptly now, "Give me your hand now, Zeta 6."
Larassa grinned in delight with their new 'toy'. Holding up the remote, Larassa cried out, "Let the games begin!" The Erasers roared in approval and then one of them opened the mutant's cage on the trolley before the kid burst out of the cage, sprinting past all of the Erasers, who stayed their claws and teeth for the time being. They all snarled at the mutant, who's eyes were wide with fear and adrenaline as he sprinted towards the far end of the clearing, desperate to get away from everyone. Larassa kept the Erasers stilled while she waited for the mutant to think it had the advantage. She then paused to think about what to do next. She could send the throngs of Erasers after the mutant, send the robot after the mutant, or let the robot loose for the Erasers and herself to both kill the robot and mutant. The latter sounded the best so Larassa activated the robot before pocketing the remote. The mutant at the far end of the field eyed the group with suspicious eyes. This mutant was mixed with gibbon and peregrine falcon genes. Before sending him out here, the scientists had tied his wings together and to his body, preventing him from using them as a means of escape. He had the wings of a peregrine falcon and the hands and feet of a gibbon. While extremely agile and flexible, Golf-5 could only last so long out here.
The scientist narrowed his eyes and frowned at Zeta 6. This rebelling was not going to sit well with him. The scientist quickly stood and motioned for one of the two Eraser guards to help him out. The Eraser grunted in response and then marched straight to the cage. He knelt down and grinned at Zeta 6 before reaching in to grab Zeta 6's arms, with the fully intent of roughly dragging him out of the cage.
Larassa frowned at the lack of response from the robot and then promptly smacked it across the head. What was wrong with this thing? She could feel the unease growing in the group of Erasers around her. If this robot didn't do anything soon, she'd have to send the Erasers after the mutant to at least give them something to keep them busy until the robot reacted.
Golf 5 remained still as he watched the group of Erasers that were slowly growing unruly. What was going on, why weren't they giving chase? Given that he had extra time, Golf 5 went to work, scratching at his bounds in a wild attempt to free his wings. He'd be able to escape if he could free his wings. The speeds he could reach while flying were a marvel at most, but the scientists were confident they could recreate his flight ability so he was now expendable to Itex.
Zeta 6 used the ark reaching into the cave to help slingshot him out. His and the erasers head collided, then the power to the equipment in the room, including the lights, was cut. The room was suddenly dark, and this suited Zeta 6 fine. His eyes adapted to light changes faster than eraser eyes did. He took this to his advantage and borrowed the scientists syringe, searching it from his hand. He then danced around the scientist, and plunged the needle into his back. Right between two vertebrae, skewering the spinal cord. He then kicked the scientists at the eraser. If the eraser was an idiot, then he would probably think that the body that seemed to be attacking him again, was the one who just headbutted him a moment ago. Zeta bolted across the tops of tables, making for the exit of the room and entered the dark halls. Any minute now, backup generators would come one.
Scarlet had escaped her cage, having used a paper clip she stole a while ago and hid in her plumage, to pick the lock. She was now in an air vent, after moments ago tampering with the fusebox.
The next scene is best described in sloe motion. The robot spun on its feet, then fell over, landing face up. It's arms raised a little and sections along them popped up. Two small grappling hooks fired out, fine wire following behind. One hook embedded itself between the eyes of one eraser, the other right between Larassa's legs. It did not actually hit her though. The tip embedded itself in a wall, and a ram forced four spike into the concrete. The same thing happened to the other grappling hook. It would be rather gruesome. The line reaching the wall went taught and began the robot was dragged towards the wall, and Larassa, and high speeds, and the other eraser is going with it.
The scientist let out a painful shriek as his spinal cord was skewered and then his eyes rolled into his head, falling unconscious and then promptly dying. The Eraser's eyes finally adjusted for him to see a body rushing him. Not sure who it was, the Eraser snarled and lashed out, only to see the head of the scientist falling at his feet. Growling, the Eraser looked around and then saw Zeta 6 making a break for it. The Eraser shouted warning over his radio and then sprinted after Zeta 6.
Larassa looked down at the ground, frowning at the grappling line and then yelping as the robot's body crashed into her legs. Larassa promptly flipped in the air before landing on her back and groaning, as her right ankle was now fractured from the harsh impact. Luckily the robot had hit her right side first instead of both sides at the same time, otherwise Larassa's ankles would both be broken now. Shuffling to her feet, Larassa spread her wings, she was the only Eraser with functional wings, and then she began hovering as she flew in place. This way, her broken ankle was no longer in her way. Larassa then flew towards the robot, intent on stopping it before it impacted the wall.
Zeta 6 bolted out of the room, the double hinged door swinging out and smashing the face of a scientist who zeta 6 did even expect to be there. Nonetheless, the guy was now unconscious. Zeta 6 fled down the hall. Human, unimproved eyes would still be used to the light the gloves above them used to emit, but of course, eraser eyes were not normal human eyes. So zeta 6 was able to just run past most of the in the hall, and he rounded a corner. He k ew where he was going. The front door.
The expanding tip of the grappling hook released the wall, and the robots legs kicked up. The body of the now dead eraser was released, and it still carried some momentum Into one of the other erasers. The robot dug it's feet into the ground, promptly stopping and running the opposite direction, away from the wall and towards Golf 5.
The Eraser following Zeta 6 was taken by surprise when he literally ran into another Eraser, the result being both of them falling to the ground in a heap. By the time the Erasers got themselves untangled and back onto their feet, the escaping mutant was nowhere to be seen.
Larassa growled at the robot, but stopped mid-flight when she saw it changing its course of action. As it sprinted towards Golf 5, Larassa cried out, "Kill the mutant and then the robot!" The Erasers all regathered themselves and let out a combined roar as they charged in a mass behind the robot, as if the robot was leading the charge. Golf 5 was horrified since he'd only managed to free one of his wings. Keeping it tucked tightly against his body with his other wing, Golf 5 took a deep breath and then began sprinting towards the robot. It was time to see just how far Golf 5's agility and nimbleness would get him. Only a mere few feet from the robot, Golf 5 leaped into the air, starting to perform a front flip. Using the robot's shoulders as if they were a bar, Golf 5 planted his hands on them and then vaulted himself over the robot and then into an Eraser. Golf 5 and the Eraser promptly fell to the ground, though Golf 5 rolled on his heels and then continued sprinting and dodging the mindless charging Erasers.
The robot fired a hook into the ground after Golf 5 leapt over it. The robot had swapped directions again. From next to the grappling hook launcher in his arm, sprang a short sword blade. The robot then shot towards the horde of erasers and slashed at the neck of the fallen eraser. The robot then rolled and the grapple returned to its place, and a second sword blade took its place. It stabbed the ground, but it did something they did not want it to do. With a female voice that was a default one, these words were said. "self destruct, enitiated. Detonation in five... Four...." and so on.
Golf 5 heard the detonation countdown and double timed as he pushed himself to run faster. Larassa called out a retreat and Erasers began scrambling away in al directions from the robot, though there were plenty that were going to be too late if the robot truly blew up. In the midst of the chaos, Larassa swooped down and picked p Golf 5 by the collar of his shirt. Golf 5 yelled and fought back when he was suddenly airborne, but paled when he saw it was Larassa who'd picked him up. He instantly stopped fighting out of fear alone and there was a second where Larassa was hovering and merely flashed a devilish grin at Golf 5. She then lurched backwards with him in hand and then pitched forward as she threw him as hard as she could towards the robot. Golf 5 yelped in surprise and then crashed headfirst into the robot.
Only that was not how Golf 5 impacted the the robot. Suddenly performing a handstand, with the blades aiding in balancing him, the robot put foot to Golf 5's chest. The impact was not hard, but Golf 5 would be launched over top of the robot, and Continued to sail through the air. The robot retracted the blades and stood. The countdown had stopped, clearly hang been a ruse. The robot took off after Golf 5, would have landed by now. It grabbed the rope the tied his wing down, and lifted him to his feet with ease. One of the blade extended again and the robot cut the rope. Golf 5 was now capable of flight.
Three... Two... Zeta 6 shielded his eyes just as the backup generators kicked in. He slowly lowered his arm so his eyes could adjust before outright blinding him. Eraser dead ahead. No problem. He WAS blinded by the sudden light, and was standing still as he blinked, waiting for them to adjust. Zeta 6 shot past him, and continued out Into the very field the robot and Golf 5 were.
Golf 5's flight response kicked in immediately and he kicked away from the robot, his wings spreading as he then shot into the air, thirty feet above the ground within seconds. Golf 5 looked away from the robot, just in time to see Larassa head butt him in the stomach. Golf 5 cried out in surprise and soon crashed back into the ground, a sickening crunch coming from one of his wings. Larassa was still on top of the mutant and smugly grinned before saying quietly, "Now that your wings are no longer of concern, it's time to go back to the cage, Golf 5." Golf 5 meekly nodded, not wanting to fight Larassa. He'd seen her kill her fair share of rebellious mutants in the past and he wasn't about to join that group.
None of the other erasers cared enough to warn Larassa of the robot charging directly at her. As the robot weighed about as much as one average ground eraser at full morph, and it had smaller elbows in which to focus the energy of the impact... Well, Larassa's back is going to hurt for the next couple of days. The robots elbow slammed into Larassa's back, knocking her off of Golf 5. The robot brought Golf 5 to his feet again, then the wing hanging at an odd angle registered. The bit then grabbed both of Golf 5's wings and manually tucked them in, and carried Golf 5 bridle style, as much as it hurt to Golf. The robot began running, full speed, away from the erasers. Zeta 6 took flight as well. He spied Larassa and flew in the opposite direction of her. But he stayed close to the facility.
Scarlet was squeezing her way through a small vent. So far, she had not been detected. But she knew the security servers would reboot any second now, and she'd be noticed as a blocked to the vent system. She shimmied quickly, and could see her way out. Her escape was blocked by a metal grate, way too big for the hole it was protecting. But no matter. She had obtained an experimental item from the lab her cage was dumped in. A compact laser, that could cut even diamond. She prepared it now. Laying it with the output facing the grate, she activated it. Nothing seemed to happen for a moment, then most of that wall, as well as the grate, turned instantly to ash and fell away. This result surprised Scarlet, but she didn't complain. She turned the beam off and stepped over the device. She leapt from the fresh Hoke and flew up towards Zeta.
Little did she notice the device beginning to glow hot. The output burst, launching the device back deeper into the vent system a little. It continued to grow hotter.
Larassa yelped in surprise when she was tackled from behind. Skidding a few feet with her face in the dirt, Larassa came to a halt and then slowly, and very painfully, got to her feet. One of her wings now hung limply behind her as she turned to face the robot...which was already fleeing with Golf 5 in its hands. Cursing under her breath, Larassa yelled out, "Capture the robot and Golf 5...dead or alive!" The Erasers sprung into action, aiming to surround the fleeing robot and mutant.
Golf 5 cried out in agony when the robot forced his broken wing to fold before picking him up bridal style. This caused Golf 5 even more immense pain as his wing was seemingly put under his bodily weight. Tears began rolling down Golf 5's face, but he was in too much pain to put up a fight now.
The robot registered the cries. The pod-like thing that housed the robots grappling hook and sword popped out. It took most of his lighter than normal body weight off of his wing. It tried to keep his wing from moving too much as it ran. Ahead of them was a wall, generally used to keep the mutants from escaping. The robot spoke in a voice that seemed human, aside from a small tinny tone to it. "this is going to hurt a lot." it warned. It reached the wall, crouched, and shot them both skyward. There was just enough power in the jump to reach the top of the wall. The robot leapt off it, and landed hard. It began Running again.
Zeta 6 and Scarlet met up. Not two seconds later, the facility exploded. A blast big enough to turn a house to debris tore a gaping Hoke in the building. Zeta 6 was hit by the shock wave, and Scarlet was trusted Into him when the wave caught her. Some mutants perished In the explosion. But for some, it meant freedom. Those who survived had a way out, and they were taking it. Some other winged mutants took off and, forming Into a group, flee after Zeta as he flew away.
There was only a few seconds of slight relief before Golf 5 heard the warning from the robot. Gritting his teeth, Golf 5 soon regretted doing so as they landed heavily on the other side. Golf 5's teeth clattered sharply against one another and he spat down to see one of his teeth fall out. Great. Golf 5 then registered the extreme pain from his wing and cried out again, his eyes rolling into his head as the pain caused him to pass out.
Larassa limped towards the facility, intent on getting some firearms, but was met by a shockwave as the building blew up. Larassa was thrown backwards along with the remaining Erasers. Upon impact with the fence behind her, Larassa slumped to the ground, barely conscious. She was on her hands and knees, slowly looking up as her ears rang and her vision blurred. She could see the smoke and fire everywhere along with people running and flying away from the building. Larassa needed to stop the escapees, but she was too weak at his point. She tried to stand up, but only managed to take one step forward before she fell to her side and then slowly passed out.
Golf falling unconscious turned out to be an advantage for the pair. Now that he was silent, it would be more difficult for them to be followed. The robot ran for a forest a little ways away.
Zeta and Scarlet, followed distantly by a couple of other winged mutants, headed off in their own direction.
Larassa slowly awoke, her throat seemingly filled with smoke. She instantly began hacking up the smoke, coughing violently for a couple of minutes while on her hands and knees. She dimly was aware that blood was on the grass from her coughing, but then looked up to see the remains of the facility before her. It was an utter disaster, as debris was all over the grounds and smoke filled the sky above. Larassa shakily got to her feet, her ankle aching a bit, but otherwise healed at this point. The only problem was her wing, which lucky for Larassa, neither of her wings could self-heal. So as Larassa limped away from the facility and into the woods beyond, her broken wing continued to hang limply behind her, dragging in the dirt. Her other wing stayed neatly tucked against her back and Larassa partially morphed as she changed her ears to wolf ears so she could better hear around her. She also shifted her eyes so she could pick out nearby heat signatures. She needed to find some mutants and fast, else when the Itex higher ups showed up, they'd most likely have Larassa's head for this disaster since she was technically the highest ranked member here. That, and she seemed to be the only Eraser or Itex worker still alive.
By this time, the robot and golf had made it to a small abandoned house, beyond the forest land. Should golf awaken now, he'd find his wing bandaged to his back, and he would be unable to move it.
Zeta and Scarlet didn't land. They kept going until they found ocean, and followed the coast u tail they found a cliff, and then a cave in which they hid in.
All the other mutants spread out, with no particular goals aside from "get away."
