Josh laughed as he walked up the stairs, looking at Soren. "Right? We're heroes and we get the top floor." He said as they made up the third flight of stairs. "I wonder what our men have gotten up to since we left." Josh said, knowing how quiet Hayden was this morning. He was definitely a little concerned for his partner.

Kai whimpered as Hayden picked him up in his arms, tears falling down his face as his little face screwed up and then he let out a cry. He cried as he felt himself brought up to Hayden's chest. Kai buried his face into his chest and his little hands grabbed onto his shirt with a firm grip. Soft crying came from the almost two year old as he felt Hayden bounce him. That had been really scary for the little one and he didn't like it one bit.​

Soren tried to look like he was thinking and not like he was out of breath as they moved up that last flight of stairs. “Crime. I am thinking it is definitely crime. Jacob is devious, and I think Hayden could be swayed into doing something illegal.” He grinned as he pushed open the door on the top floor.

Hayden bounced gently as he sat there on the floor with this little one attached to him. “You’re such a brave big boy. You know that? I am so impressed with you. Even if that was pretty scary, you did it.” He rubbed his back and side as they bounced. “You went down stairs yesterday. You went from the bed to the floor today. You can conquer anything!” He could see them trying other things too. Him and this little boy. This little boy who was not his. Hayden had to keep reminding himself of that.​

Josh groaned as he heard that, nodding. "I'm sure they're doing very illegal things without us around." He agreed as he walked onto the top floor and sighed, taking a moment to get his breath back. "Let's go check on our two criminals." Josh said as he headed down the hallway.

Kai sniffled as his crying slowed down, trying to listen to the words that Hayden was speaking. He pulled his head away to look up at Hayden, a small pout on his face. "R- Really?" He managed to get out, his eyes still brimming with tears. He didn't think he was so brave right now.​

Soren chuckled as they moved down the hall towards their rooms. “I bet they’re in your room. I have a feeling that’s where we’re going to find them the most.” He moved to the door and knocked on it just in case they weren’t together and someone was sleeping or something.

Hayden, still gently rubbing and bouncing, nodded. “Of course! You’re the bravest little shark I have ever met. Do you think just anyone can dive that far down like that?” He whispered, “No!” and laughed a little. He hoped it was enough to be contagious for the little one. He looked up at the knock. “You hear that? Someone knew you were so brave and wanted to come see you.”​

Josh chuckled nodding as they walked. "I'm sure that will probably be where we always find them." He nodded in agreement as Soren knocked on the door. He waited as he heard footsteps and the door opened revealing Jacob. A smile was on Jacob's face as he looked at his partner and brother. "Hey. Come on in. What did you bring us?" Jacob asked, opening the door for the two men to come inside. Josh stepped inside and set the suitcase down, hearing Hayden's voice. Jacob had left the room to open the door and Kai had heard him move but he was focused on Hayden. "Brave shark!" Kai giggled, his eyes still wet but he wasn't crying anymore. "Who there?" Kai asked, squirming to look the doorway.​

Soren walked inside as well, placing his suitcase down as soon as he could. He probably should have closed the door. He probably should have said hello or something. Instead, he wrapped both arms around Jacob and kissed him like they had been apart for years instead of hours. When he pulled away, noses still touching, he answered, “your brave brother and handsome partner went back to your old apartment to grab as much of your old things as we could shove into the two suitcases you had in there.” He let one arm drop so that he could step to the side and let him go see. Hayden smiled at the little giggles, happy that Kai felt better now. Hearing that voice in there meant that Josh was also there. He smiled even wider as he spoke to the little one. “Little brave shark, it’s the bravest of all the sharks.” He let him go so that they could move towards the doorway and look at him. “Do you remember him?”​

Jacob laughed at the arms around him and he kissed Soren back just as much. He felt their noses touch and he heard his words. "No, you did! Thank you so much!" Jacob said, kissing Soren again and wrapped his arms around him, then he looked at the suitcases. He opened one and he saw the pictures that were inside, and tears slipped down his cheeks as he saw the ones with his mother. He sniffed as a small smile crossed his face. Meanwhile Josh looked over at the doorway when he heard Hayden's voice and saw Kai running through the door towards Josh. "Well hello there little one." He said, picking Kai up in his arms and he looked up to see Hayden in the doorway. He walked over with Kai giggling in his arms and he wrapped an arm around Hayden's shoulder and kissed him. "Hello beautiful. How's your morning been so far?" Josh asked with a smile.​

This was the real reason he wanted to get Jacob’s things. He wanted him to be happy. Soren knew that Jacob gave up a lot to be here. He risked so much to be with Soren when they didn’t even know if this was going to work. So far it was definitely working. He could tell, because Jacob was looking at these pictures, tears of sadness but also happiness staining those beautiful cheeks, and all Soren could think was that this was what he wanted. He wanted to make it just a little better. He bent down with Jacob, sliding on arm around him to make sure that he knew Soren was there. He smiled as he swiped at those tears. “Did we do good? I wanted to bring more but I couldn’t fit it. So if there’s more you want or need, I can go back and get more.”

This was the sweetest thing Hayden had ever seen. Kai running to Josh like a little boy welcoming his father home. Hayden knew in that moment that this was what he wanted. He wanted that family for them. He wanted this to be his family. “We’ve have a wonderful morning,” he answered as he gently tickled Kai’s tummy. “We’ve learned about sharks, attacked Jacob, taken a nap, been a brave little man. What have you done?” He peered out into the living room. “Did you go back for his stuff?” Hayden smiled and turned to Kai. “Didn’t I tell you he’s the bravest of all the sharks?” He tried not to show the concern that he had for them going back to the places that were so dangerous. He wanted to be supportive. ​

Jacob looked at everything, and smiled as he looked at the pictures, and he flicked his gaze to Soren when he felt the arm around him. His body melted into the touch and he felt the swipe at the tears on his face. "You did fantastically. This is already more than I thought I'd get. I don't need or want more." Jacob said, turning to look at Soren. "Thank you, so so much. You have no idea how much it means to have these pictures back." He added, looking back at them, finger brushing over his mother. A shaky sigh slipped out before he looked at Soren again, leaning up and kissing him softly, yet deeply. Letting all his appreciation out in the kiss.

Kai giggled at the tickle to his tummy, squirming in Josh's strong grip. Josh chuckled, hearing all about their morning. "Wait, did you attack my brother? Better not let Soren hear that, or he might gobble you all up." Josh said, looking at Kai and tickling his tummy this time. He looked at Hayden a moment later, hearing the question. "We did. It was only fair that he got his things." Josh replied as Kai giggled again, hearing that. "Brave shark!" He cried, pointing at Josh with a little finger while Josh smiled, this was so nice.​

Soren had no doubt about anything. They had not known each other long, and they still had a long way to go to really say that they knew each other, but this was a journey he was more than ready to travel. He moved his hands to the back of Jacob’s neck and sighed softly into their shared kiss. He parted their lips, breathing and speaking quietly. “I love you, Jacob. You deserve as much as I can get you. You deserve more than that.” If Soren could get him the world, he already knew that he would.

Hayden’s jaw dropped and his dramatically gasped in response to what Soren might do. Was he playing it up for Kai. Oh yes, but there was a part of him that did not even feel like he was playing it up. This all felt so natural. “He is the bravest shark! Just like you little man.” He kissed Josh’s cheek, and it was like this was the real world instead of the one where everything fell apart. Him and Josh and their baby. That could have been everything if he could have stayed right there in that bubble. “Brave shark, I assume you have to go?” There was an edge to his voice that he was not expecting. The edge of knowing without wanting. The edge of fear. It was too early to be able to keep him.​
