Fantasy The Calm After War (Always Open and Accepting)

Bailey O'Connor

Bailey stood, and opened the tent flap. "You," She said, walking around to the front of her husband, "You are an asshole. But I love you. But you are a major asshole with the marvelous ability to piss me off on top of mountains of stress," She said. "And you, need to get over yourself." She was never like this unless she was exhausted. Bailey then sighed, and took a step back. "Now, I'm going to go over a list of possible double agents. Go enjoy breakfast." Safety Hammer Safety Hammer

Ozzy popped up out of nowhere to ask about showing him his ability. Since he was in the middle of a conversation, however, it just startled him. "Oh god, you scared the shit outta me.......sure. If you need me to gauge your abilities, I'm not really the most qualified out here, but I can gauge your skills so far."

He kept Ozzy beside him, but was about to wrap up this conversation. "No better way to expand some horizons than to risk death in a war. I love a bit of chaos, so this is certainly my element." Ari said with a shrug. "Anyways, I gotta get this private here tested. I gotta get someone to determine his unit, which may just be mine. I take underdogs and turn them into cold-blooded killers." That was proven fairly well as his unit now had the will to kill.........or at least assist those who would do all the killing in Evelyn's case. "I'd hire you as my blade for hire if you're interested........" Ari waved as he started to walk away and look at Ozzy with a smile. "Alright Ozzy, I'd like to see what you got, but don't strain yourself. We fight for keeps soon."

Willow had no belongings of her own, so she was just in Cold Weather clothing. She was toasty for the cold ahead. "I'm ready, Uriko, to go find Daddy. Don't get mad outside or the deadman would come." What she meant by deadman was Death. The Grim Reaper would come to her defense if she were in danger. Uriko had a tendency to go berserk, and it frightened her. Fright was the least bearable emotion she had.

“Not exactly” sitting down on a log he relaxed a bit as he looked her over “I can give the power to anyone I want, but to give it to the wrong person could be catastrophic....someone with ill intent in their heart could plausibly use it to take over a nation....or you could have it control you and become a slave to it...someone with a strong will and pure intentions would be the best choice....” lifting his hand he showed her his fangs “in truth I wanted to make you a draculina.....and my bride....” blushing a bit as he turned his gaze away from her “Although I would never force this upon anyone, after taking my gift We would be linked...but if I give you my blood of my own free will you would be released from that bond and could grow even stronger...maybe just as strong as me”

Evelyn was struck with stunning surprise. She blushed so heavily that she just had a mental burnout. "A bride?!? I........I can't think about marriage when we're about to fight. I've never.........I barely......... know you." All she knew about him as of right now was the story that Ari told them of their fight, and that he had a big brass undead pair on him to propose marriage to someone he just met. She wasn't nowhere near in the right mindset to think about marriage..........or any relationship for that matter. "But.....I'm glad you see something in me. You and Sergeant Waesmor are the only ones. That includes my parents."

Darian watched as the man who offered to hire him as a mercenary walked away. He thought to himself for a few seconds and then the cat on his shoulder jumped off and ran after the man. The cat's mouth opens and Darian's voice exits through it. "I'd be willing to work for you. What I want in payment is not gold though. All I want is a lightning spell book. Specifically a spell book named Lightning's Wrath. It shouldn't be hard to get, any decent sized magic organization should have a few copies laying around somewhere. I'll work with you on the condition you get me a copy of that spell book."

Raven chuckled at her reaction to his statement, waving his hand at her “I’m sorry, I am not laughing at you. Your reaction is just so innocent...” brushing a few strands of hair from his face he regained his composure and stood up. “After the war then, until then you can’t die....if you do though I’ll just raise you from the dead as a ghoul....but trust me when I say that you don’t want to be a ghoul....my future draculina...” leaning over he got close to her face “I have but one more question, it would help me out quite a bit if I could have some of your blood before we start”

He would have started to wander the camp for a fair bit, uncertain as for what he should do before simply shrugging. Heading to the mess tent (I think it would be called that...) as he was a bit early and walking up to the chief. Taking a few minutes of back and fourth arguing about it before eventually being tossed a few potatoes just to get him to shut up. Looking at them nodding before walking on out as he started to eat one. As it was easily about the size of his palm it took him a bit. Putting the others away as he settles down in a spot on the ground he cleared of snow with his hand.

"Bailey, I'm-" He started, about to apologize, until she exploded on him. He slowly shrank inside of himself as he was yelled at by his tiny wife. When she was done, he opened his mouth as if to say something, but decided against it. "O-okay." He said, before walking back to his fire.

Ozzy nodded, and pulled the former Dark Assassin with him to the uninhabited part of the camp, the part that bordered the forest. "Okay. I might need you to catch me if I fall down. I get a bit dizzy when I do this spell at this amount of power." He said with a happy smile. With that, Ozzy cracked his neck and knuckles, and focused on a specific tree. The kid closed his eyes, and took a long, deep breath. As he charged up, a golden aura began to surround him. Then, after a bout thirty seconds, he shouted, and pointed at the tree. "ARROWS!"

Suddenly, a stream of glowing pink arrows shot from around his hand, turning the once mighty pine tree into a pile of woodchips. After the stream of arrows finished its shredding of the tree, an exhausted Ozzy turned back around to face his idol. "How was that, sir?" He asked, out of breath.

The cat which had Darian's voice leave through its mouth followed the man who offered to hire Darian as a blade for hire and the private, waiting for the answer to Darian's terms of being a blade of hire. They reached an edge of the military camp, and Darian watched as magical energy gathered around the private. Darian concentrated for a few seconds, analyzing the feeling that the energies surrounding the private where giving off. 'Hoo? If I'm right that's holy magic, been a while since I've seen any of that.' Darian continued watching as the spell destroyed the pine tree. As the spell ended and the private turned to talk to the man next to him. "I know I have no business speaking here, but was that holy magic? I may be wrong but that's what it felt like to me." Darian said after the private asked his question to the man next to him, his voice again speaking through the cat's mouth.

"Saint Sebastion's Arrows if I'm not mistaken," Ari remarked with a nod, identifying the spell for both their sakes. He walked over to the pine tree remainders and picked up the slashed bits. He kicked them around a bit. "Clean cuts all across. Could go in a child's playground........Nicely done Ozzy," Ari concluded. "Now for the criticisms. 30 seconds mean death on the field. If you can't lower that time, you have to have a form of coverage. Also, there's the effect it has on you. You can't be spent after a single spell unless you can guarantee a victory.........Great work though. Chaotic, yet precise. A great crowd control spell capable of mass destruction. I expected the spell to have Golden Arrows though."

"Eh-er..........um sure," Evelyn said, leaning back. "You can't bite my arm though. That's.........painful." she said with a shake of her head. "Vial it instead." She took out her dagger and cut her arm. "You can't ask for marriage from someone you just met," she said with a sigh as she watched the blood drip. For some reason, she could talk fairly clearly if she didn't look directly at him. That made her nervous. "I........don't know you at all. You come on very strong. Very very strong." She knew nothing about vampires, vampire culture, transforming, the mechanics of ghouls and all that. She didn't even know vampires even really existed until Ari spoke about him. She was far too introverted to effectively deal with this sort of thing

Ryan nodded and held his sister’s hand tighter. “Are you sure this is safe? Daddy wouldn’t want us to come, and it might make Mommy sad,” he said nervously. He didn’t want to make his parents upset or nervous.

"Yes... the golden aura of magical energies did make me think the arrows would indeed be golden. Anyways, what do you say about what I said what I want for payment to work as your blade, or actually in my case, magic for hire? I know a variety of magic schools, mainly focusing on offensive spells of the fire school. I also have some utility spells, including an invisibility spell." Darian said, bringing the conversation back to earlier before the man who offered to hire him walked away.

“I see so times have changed” Walking over he gently took her arm, licking the spilt blood up off it he placed his mouth over it. Laying the blood up like a cat to a saucer of cream. The veins in his body grew very prominent, blushing as he learned something interesting about her from her blood. Finishing his quick snack so she wouldn’t grow light headed he took his mouth off. His saliva had healed the cut, not even a scar remaining “in my time if you wanted a female you had to be...but a ghoul is what you would become if I drained every drop of your blood with my fangs piercing your skin....” his cheeks stil a bit red as he wiped his mouth with a cloth and then cleaned up any remaining blood on her arm “but I am glad to see that there are still virgins in this day and age” looking down at her he bowed, his arm across his chest “thank you for the meal Lady Evelyn”

Dan was currently standing on one of the many balcony of his tower looking out across the dead forest that surrounded him. At one time this was a place filled with lush green and life of all kinds but now it was dead and rotting and the animals were twisted and tainted from his experiments and rituals. Dan stood there admiring his work but even though he was proud of his efforts he missed the struggle to cut out a strong hold in this forest, but now the sickness has taken hold of the land and his horrors destroyed any wouldbe heroes. To put it simply it was boring he wished something would fun would happen. "Huh, guess I'll just send a few undead out to a random location and watch what happens." He said as he walked to the map room. It was a large room covered in maps of many different places, and they all had a plethora of different sharp objects stuck to them in random places. He grabbed a knife from a table and flung it at the maps without looking. "Now where am I going to send my marry band of ghouls? The frozen plains, well then I guess they should get started." He gathered a few dozen zombies and a death knight and ordered them to go wander the frozen plains. Once they found something to fight the death knight would use a scroll to summon a watcher demon, a fist sized eye with wings that would allow him to see through it.
(Now)
Dan was rereading Undead 101 when he felt a familiar tug in his mind that told him a demon bound to him was summoned. He put down his book and his eyes turned a deep black as he watched the zombies slowly shamble towards a camp, the death knight was already half way there as it charged at full speed with an in human roar. "This should be good, I wonder how many will die? I hope they put up a good fight." The mage said with a mad chuckle. "I do so love it when they fight back."

Ryan nodded and held his sister’s hand tighter. “Are you sure this is safe? Daddy wouldn’t want us to come, and it might make Mommy sad,” he said nervously. He didn’t want to make his parents upset or nervous.

"I'm sure Daddy would like to see us," Willow said resolutely. "I'm willing to take punishment to see him again." Due to the nature of his kids as well as Arabelle's pleading and whatnot, Ari didn't often punish his kids...........However, harsh was an understatement to the punishment Ari dished out when he was pushed to that limit. He was raising them on respect and accountability, an extreme tough love approach Knowing that and still willing to take it was a testament to just how bad Willow wanted to see her daddy. She would see him by any means necessary. Plus, knowing Uriko, he would leave regardless. Alison wouldn't be all that appreciative of Uriko sneaking out. Ari would be a hell of a lot less pleased than even a pissed off concerned Alison. "Would you rather sit here in this castle for however long? They could be gone for weeks!"

"Aye, I'll get you a book before we actually start fighting. Don't ask my methods." Ari said with a small nod. He looked back towards the castle and pointed. His trusty owl griffin flew out and landed on his shoulder. "You call, master?"
"Misty, dear, I need you to go get me a spellbook called Lightning's Wrath."
"With pleasure!" Misty took off, spreading her wings and was out of sight within about 15 seconds.

Evelyn nodded. She was thrown off by a platoon of zombies lumbering towards them. The zombies weren't close enough to the camp to attack. As they lumbered forward, it activated Evelyn's Explosive Runes, blasting a lot of them to pieces immediately. The decomposition of zombies made this a lot easier to do. "WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!" she screamed loud enough for the entire camp to hear.
Ari looked over to Evelyn upon hearing her voice and pulled out his bow upon seeing the enemies in question. Notching it, he took aim. He had a clear shot between him and the entire undead group. "Take a look Ozzy, at the potential of your spell. Here's my version. Divide and Conquer." A magic circle appeared on the tip of the arrow. When he released, it shot off hundreds, just like Ozzy's spell. They were all glowing purple with Psychic energy though. A fairly well-known signature Ari spell alongside Stillpiercer. The spell absolutely shredded the zombies with ease. "Fucking amateurs. I guess we know who the orcs hired to take us on. Doesn't bode well for them." These zombies were dealing with highly trained warriors, not innocent defenseless civilians. Good luck even getting close to a military camp. Even if they got close, they wouldn't even be able to bite the soldiers in the frontlines due to their armor. Now with the entire camp on high alert, they wouldn't even be able to make it halfway before getting seen next time.

As Ari notched another arrow to his bow, a hand was placed on his shoulder. "Thank you Mr. Waesmor. We'll take it from here," the Elven Infantry commander said as they charged to the frontlines ready to confront the knight, the paladins and templars armed with strong Holy Weaponry. This knight stood no chance. To take down even one soldier would be a huge stroke of luck. Was this the orc's opening play?

"Well. If those fellows will handle that, I'll come over and properly introduce myself." Darian said, his voice again speaking through the cat. After saying that, Darian opened his eyes and stood up. From the border of the camp where he was approached Darian walked over to the border of camp where his familiar was. As he got close, he walked out from in between the trees and stood in front of the man who hired him and held out his hand for a handshake. "I call myself Loreseeker, but my birth name is Darian. I was given no surname and have taken up the surname Kingsley which was my late master's. As I said before, I am a mage who focuses in offensive magic though I know some defense and utility spells. The cat here is my familiar Leywin."

Dan watched as his zombies were blown to shreds and then the rest picked off picked off by an archer. His death knight faired no better as it was slashed to bits by elvin warriors. "Now, now, isn't this interesting." He said as a large smile spread across his face. "Seems I've stumbled on something fun to play with. Let's get a closer look shall we?" The Watcher blurred then disappeared with nothing but a slight shimmer telling where it was. I flew down and hovered above a tent as it scanned the crowd all the while Dan smiled as he thought of what to do next. He told his watcher to stay and keep an eye on the camp while he thought of what to do next. He disconnected from his demon and sat there with a smile as thoughts raced through his mind, none of which were nice.
