''You in?''
Yet another phrase that rings in her heads before she actually registers the meaning behind him. It would be a promise, a dangerous one, to say yes. 'A long road' was the understatement of the millennium if the road there was anything like this city. So many thoughts and questions race through her mind - which is in no state to be thrown into overdrive. Why me? Will they let us cross the border? Is it worth it? Should I trust him? She watches as she lifts her arms and wraps them around his torso, something she had never intended to do.
Her thoughts and actions felt like they were out of her control, like they belonged to another person. He had come back for her - whether he intended to or not -, saved her, and now invited her on some impossible journey to safety despite all the trouble she's caused. And, she wanted to go despite all the trouble he had caused for her. Maybe the riot gear between the two of them when she needed human contact most was symbolic of the way it always had been. Her perspective of her life had suddenly been changed and perhaps not for the better. Aleks was there when she needed someone and now she could never lose him.
"Yes."
