Fantasy The Barren Palace

DemonAbove

The Kitten
This world just isn't right. Forever it will be- slightly slanted, to worsen over the years.
Asta Winters

  • Asta Winter's was right, no one believed her, but she was right. The world has became a horrible place for all.

The king has fallen ill and died slowly for all his enemies to watch and cackle.

The prince went into hiding in fear he was next.

People fled the kingdom in fear the kingdom would crash and burn because of who was left in the royal family.

    People rioted.

    People shook their heads.

    People felt unsafe.

As only the 11 year old princess was left to rule the kingdom.

The princess had no training to rule over a kingdom, as she was raised to be married to a handsome prince and soon king who would take care of everything for her. But now the young princess had to do it all by herself.

Servants told her many things on how to be successful, but none of it ever made sense.

They told her to trust no one.

They told her to have an ear to her people.

They told her to never do anything without her council thoughts and suggestions.

They told her to step down and let someone to take her place until the prince returned.

The young princess had no idea what on earth she would do.

A year past and all the other kingdoms made fun of her. None wanted to be her ally, most stayed out of her way wanting to see the kingdom fall on its own.

It is amusing to watch a kingdom stand on one peg. One weak little peg that will snap and let everything crash into flames and to be forever forgotten. It all just takes time and patience.
    King Herold the IV

The princess did her very best to not let the kingdom fall, but it did, on her thirteenth birthday. She trusted the wrong people and she was assassinated, her brother never came back, and many kingdoms went to claim the land as their own. After the great war of four kingdoms, the land was never taken, all four kingdoms fell, but unlike the one ruled by the young princess, they rebuilt themselves.

The little princess's kingdom never did, it was just left alone, the castles crumbled over time, the buildings fell, mice moved out since nothing seemed to grow there, it was useless to everyone.

Now, you ask. What was this kingdom's name? Well, it's name once was called Mandala, but now they just call it: The Barren Palace.

Queen Jade walked beside her husband, the soon to be King Henry. They were not actually royalty yet, but they would be as soon as they set foot into the throne room and their buttocks touch the thrones. Jade's long jet black hair reached her small little waist. He pale blue eyes examining the tall wall of thorns in the distance that guarded the kingdom. She wondered how it could have grown so tall, how it knew to go just around the boarder of the Barren Palace. She grabbed her husband's hand and squeezed it, making him squeeze back. He palm was sweaty.

Killian followed the future king and queen, a sword in her belt under her black cloak. She was to be the Master of Coin, as math was her strong point. The sword she had was borrowed from one of the mercenaries that wasn't traveling too far from her. He said she would need it in case someone decided to back stab them. Killian didn't really think anyone around her at the moment would, well except for that assassin guy. She wasn't sure about him but the queen seemed to like him, so she just kept her distance from that new Royal Assassin and kept to herself. She didn't want to socialize really, that wall of thorns made her shiver.

The party continued toward the 328 feet tall wall of thorns that went around the kingdom. The thorns were pitch black and grew close together so no one could see what was inside. The only way in was to climb, as the barer was too thick, too tough, to cut through. The only way in was over, and it was a long and dangerous climb that was something that applied to "Every Man For Himself" while climbing.

Conrad looked at the wall of thorns he was about to climb and laughed. He had arrived earlier, and was waiting for the rest of the group he was told to protect. Well, he wasn't ment to protect ALL of them, after all, would he really risk his life for the lesser ones.? And he was willing to threaten to get a part of this new land for his guild, which would presumably lead to some violence. He was already striving towards this goal (Of which he would get a big promotion.) by giving the future queen a sword. The future queen. The one most important person to protect. He was suppose to protect the future king too, but he felt he had more of a change with the queen, to convince here to give up part of it for his guild. The bigger guild city would help a lot, and this is why he have favored the queen in who to protect. It didn't help that there were two assassins, one of very high skill, that probably have their eyes on here.

And then there were the ones he was supposed to let die, (Or even attempt to kill, or scare off, if they don't die on there own). The first on his list was the adviser. The adviser makes everything harder. Mostly in convincing the queen to give him land. There was also an award for this. The other on the list is Head of High Kings Assassin Guild. The High Kings Assassins guild has been a competitor for a while, and all our spies were assassinated. Without a leader they would be hopeless.....

He looked at the wall again. It was a strange way to protect a kingdom. Thorns? And it didn't make it any easier to get out. Luckily he brought gloves.

Sigmar was not sure what claim the new monarchs had to the Mandalan throne, but it mattered little to him. He was all too eager to claim the office of High Constable, commander of the nation's armies. He was, however, none too eager about some of His Majesty's other courtiers. For whatever reason, the King and Queen had hired mercenaries and assassins to accompany them on their journey. Sigmar scoffed at frivolous scoundrels such as those, for none of them were truly loyal without enough money to satisfy their avaricious desires. Worse yet, the King and Queen had appointed a lowborn street urchin to serve as Royal Advisor!

Sigmar dismounted his horse as they approached the bottom of the wall. Over thirty stories high, it was nearly the size of a cathedral. Thousands upon thousands of black thorns protruded from thick jagged vines, sharper than spears and hard as iron.

Sigmar, though he was thoroughly impressed by the wall, he felt a bit pessimistic about climbing over it. The horses would have to stay on the other side of the wall and climbing the wall would be a daunting task for some. Sigmar wore plate armor, which would protect him well against the thorns, but the weight of his armor would certainly slow him down.

From atop her horse, Eva surveyed the grounds around the infamous Barren Palace. The ground where the daunting structure stood was overrun by wilderness. The grass had long since grown over the cobblestone paths and torn it apart in many places. The walls protecting the palace, though weathered with age, still stood blocking their path. Not even the many vines that had blanketed its surface had damaged the impregnable structure. On the contrary, the thorns on the vines only added to the impediments invaders-- which are what they were-- had to deal with. The hulking metal gates were not even spared of the invasive plants. It was no wonder then that the advanced party had resorted to scaling the walls.

"Has the attack already begun?" she wondered. She had yet to receive orders from the King and so was hesitant to act on her own. Could the messenger with her orders have gotten lost? A mishap perhaps?

With the equipment they had to carry, her unit's progress was slow. They were at the tail end of the march and thus arrived a full day behind the vanguard. But now they were here and with them explosives that could make entry a little easier. It would be presumptuous of her, however, to take matters on her own hands.

Despite being weary from the long journey, she called on her aid and ordered that camp should be set up. They were going to need their tools quite soon. With that, she turned her horse and galloped towards the direction where the King's banners flew high in the sky.

Gerald made mental notes about the rest of the group as he followed a safe distance behind the King and Queen making sure that they stayed within his reach so he could get to them in time in the event of danger. His father had told him to make sure they safely ascended the throne and stayed on it for the good of the family. He owed them everything when they took him in, a poor nameless orphan who likely grew up in the slums, as their son and he vowed to repay them. He surveyed the thorns that surrounded the fallen kingdom. The only way in was to climb over it. Gerald's gaze fell on the King and Queen, worried about how they would get over after such a long journey to even reach this point where they could see the palace. Even without the long journey, he could not fathom how they would get over. Climbing over it on your own was definitely a challenge enough from what he could see. Helping someone climb up at the same time...one wrong move would lead to them both falling to their death. Yet they had to get their King and Queen inside with them or there was no point. He didn't trust anyone travelling with them and they probably had their misgivings about him as well. In Gerald's world, there was no such thing as being too cautious.

In Valer's opinion, he didn't admire the least accompanying a group of strangers into an unknowable territory. Who knows what lurk beneath that abyss of antiquity? However, he digressed entirely of that notion and smiled at the thought of a land, filled with riches and knowledge for him to plunder. Possibilities surrounded his thought as curiosity overwhelmed logic; a probable mistake for many to come.

Upon a cart, filled with bystanders and armed figures unknown to him, Valer stared up at the high-heat of afternoon sky, wondering about his great uncle and his home. Seven years since he'd left the estate, and the day doesn't go by at the thought of returning back home. The idea that Valer is to serve a future king or queen without any solid, legitimate proof of royalty is benign and foolish. Valer isn't interested on who gets the throne; to him, it is nothing more than a chair to sit.

Their travel is gradual and quiet; nobody speak out and nobody cared. Each of them has some personal goals that they need to attend; some desire power of a higher position, some desire wealth and riches just like Valer, and some desire to follow a narrow-minded intention of a good, noble gesture for the king and country.

As the cart came to an abrupt halt, they reached to their location; only that their entrance is covered in thick-walled vines, protruding around the lost kingdom. When Valer sighted the vines, he became intrigue at the composition of the plant. He observe the woodcutters that arrived earlier in their futile attempt to chop the vines down, making not a single dent on the plant.

Valer disembarked from the ride and approached to the walled-vine. He noticed that the others began to ascend in the hope to reach the other side of the kingdom; an option that he did not want to go. Physically unfit to climb on this perilous ascent, Valer have three options that he needs to consider; he could wait at the entrance and hope the party can reach the other side to open some form of entrance; he could abandon this wasted journey and head elsewhere; or he could find some means to open the gate without the use of physical force.

Valer moved away from the group in the attempt of not being notice of his work; he placed gently his doctors bag and conduct a series of vials that is used over the years. In his mind, he could abandon the quest, but that would make the entire journey a waste to begin with and he could not possibly wait for so long to do it. Valer held in his hand a green vial and opened the lid, releasing an odorless smell. If the plan did not succeed then he will have the satisfaction of the knowledge of its weakness. With little time to wait, he poured a drop at the vine, beginning his ritual of experimentation.

Jerome and "Cloak" entered the room, quietly, people were unaware they entered unless they saw them.

(Sorry for the really short post. I'm busy at the moment. When I'm free I will make longer posts!)

As soon as the future queen reached the wall with her husband, she took out a pair of gloves from the small satchel her husband wore. She put them on, flexed her fingers, and walked right up to the wall. She grabbed the side of a large black spike and set her feet on a lower on, starting her climb. She didn't seem to afraid, as she use to climb trees when she was a little girl, how different could this be? Her husband on the other hand, stood where he was and watched him little wife start scaling the dangerous wall.

The thorns that grew from the thick vines her poison, i will tell you that now. A small prick of your finger, you will most likely die within two days. Get a scratch, you will die in a day, get stabbed, you are probably already dead. They could be burned and chopped at, but they would always cover where you hurt it with small vines or just grow back before your eyes. It was impossible to go through, basically.

The gate to the kingdom was still there, the vines wrapped around the bars and sealed the gapes between, making it part of the wall. It was as if the vines didn't want anyone to come in or fix the kingdom. Like it was hiding something, making sure no one would every find out and soon just give up. It was doing a special job, acting as the protector of ruins no one cared about.

Sigmar followed the queen as she began her long climb. He gazed anxiously towards the top of the wall. His muscles tensed as he came closer to the wall. He hadn't climbed much of anything since he was a lad, and even then he had never climbed quite so high. Sigmar held his breath as his hand grasped the first branch. Slowly but surely, he was pulling his way up the wall of thorns, branch by branch. His gauntleted hands dug into the crevices between the vines.

Sigmar had to stay cautious as he made the climb. A single misstep and he'd end up plummeting to his doom. Worse still, his jangling armor became a hinderance the further he climbed. His pauldrons weighted him down ever so slightly more as he tired. His metal boots became anchors gradually pulling him down as he progressed. Sigmar's face was dampened with a layer of sweat which trickled down his face. Even now, there was still a long distance between him and the top.

Jane followed the Queen's brigade far behind, keeping to the trees. She was given the honor of leading the Guerrilla Force this time around, to protect the queen. The land behind them was chock full of deadly traps in case they were being followed by stealthy enemies. They also carried herbs for minor healing and curing poison

Jane watched the Queen as she climbed the wall, taking note of just how dangerous it was. It was crazy of the Queen to try something so irresponsible and dangerous. The toxins in those plants were incredibly fast-acting. These were the plants they were warned about to bring herbs for.

She held up the sign to keep watch around, and walk over to the wall, jumping off her tree. Drawing her bow, she made a quick calculation for angle and strength to the top. She carried her best quiver of arrows. This quiver featured 30 of her best arrows. She pulled out Phoenix Tail (Arrow #16) and shot it to the top of the wall. All the plants in her area of the wall were incinerated. She put on her goggles, and started her ascent. She shot up the wall, her gloves protecting her hands. In about a minute or so, she was already past both Sigmar and the Queen. Unlike them, she climbed walls, trees and cliffs on a daily basis. She had to as part of her job as a guerrilla. Not only that, but she didn't have to worry about those dangerous plants. This was nothing to her. The wall was old and cracked from the vines, so it gave her plenty of foothold.

After several attempts of procedure, Valer takes a deep breath and sigh in defeat; he suspected as much. There is no question that Valer wasn't able to break through or found any open gaps that he could get across, yet he discover a few things that he learned about the vine's composition and its unusual growth.

From his coat pocket, he raised out his journal to write a record of the outcome of event:

Experiment #87

There's no denying that the vines surrounded the kingdom is made out of the usual kind of plants, but oddly it is enhanced at a supernatural level. In my first procedure, I pour a drop of acid onto one of the vines; successfully it ran through the plant without any difficulty. I have thought that I found the solution to the dilemma and that I should inform the others of this discovery.

Yet when I was about to conclude the result, I was surprised to see that the hole from the vine went back to its normalcy state. It shouldn't be impossible for any plant to regenerate in a quick amount of time. I pour again an ounce of acid at the same vine; the result are quite similar. Seeing as acid proves to be ineffective, I try of other means.

I inject the same vine with different types of antidotes that I have collected over the years with varied result, yet the plant manages to counteract at my every attempt. The reason why I did it if there was a possible way to weaken the vine's durability. I find it perplex that the vine remains elusive to my every tactic and it bitters my heart over a simple plant. Luckily, the vine that I injected can be easily severed with a simple knife, which I did and placed it on a small container. Sadly, though the plant's regenerative ability still remains a problem and it grows outright in a quick haste.

Another method that I employ is similar to the brute's mental ability: violence. I start by using explosives; a small parch amount of it, but lethal enough to blow a finger off. With a bit of blackpowder I proceed with the experiment. The result were...unexpected. After a minor burst, the vines reacted in a violent dance. Fortunate that the blast and fire was only minor as the vine return to its normal state.

Although I have to admit that I was unable to make a damage on the wall; there are some notes that needs to mentioned: First important thing of matter, never resort to fire. The higher the force, the higher the reprisal. Second, few of my antidotes manage to weaken the plant wall but only a few minutes before it strengthened again. I fear that the plant is maybe immune to the antidote and any attempt of retry is deemed useless. And finally, due to the nature of vines, I suspect--

At the last sentence, Valer was interrupted by a loud sound of explosion. He turned his head, towards at the focus of the wall and sees fire raging on the top.

"Great plagues curse me..."

Halfway up the wall, Jane noticed vines coming out from other places on the wall, coming towards her. She noted back to her briefing, which said that this wall was really special. Nothing was really specified though. Looks like attacking the vines wasn't the best way to go. Her Phoenix Tail was specifically made to take out plants and undead, which explains why the vines in her area actually died, but more just grew in their place. She quickly shook her head as the vines struck out at her. She dodged them, but lost progress with every dodge.

"You're not killing me, you green bastard." She jumped off one of the vines to regain her progress, but having to dodge again, falling right back to where she was. These vines were pissed off at her specifically. Who would think the vines were selective in their victims? "Is it because I'm in the lead? Damn blue shell vines."

She was still protected by her gear, but these vines weren't making it easy on her. These vines were immune to normal flames, and moderately resistant to her Phoenix Tail. High speed regrowth, fast-acting toxins, Phoenix resistance, and normal fire immunity. There's no way it could be immune to the the curse of ungrowth. She could stop it from growing with either Gorsback (Arrow #6), which could place the curse of ungrowth or Equinox (Arrow #7), which could strike the vines with decay, counteracting the high-speed regeneration. The problem however, is that she'd lose all her progress if she took the time to shoot

Jane kept struggling between dodging the vines and trying to climb. She had to go the hard way

Conrad was still thinking about what he was told when he started this mission when he heard an explosion. He looked up. "Great. Vines that kill people." He thought. He also noticed the person that started it. "Great. The one person I've deciding is the one i don't want to die is already going to die because that girl." This has already gone bad.

He decided that he wasn't going to mess with what was going on on the walls. He went over to the doctor, who he had seen experimenting at the gate. "Found a way to open it?" He asked.

Valer could only stare at the wall as the vines grace in a violent motion, focusing upon one particular target that started it all; it would be an interesting development to see if the person would survive the attack.

While his eyes remain focus at the event, Valer was interrupted by another.

"Found a way to open it?"

Unmoved at the least, Valer cocked his head at the figure that approaches to him. The individual is an armored figure, heavily ordain with second-graded equipment. His face said it all of a grim and bitter man, expressing an aura of distrust and ambiguity. A mercenary? He thought. Typical.

Valer turned his eyes back at the vine wall. "Knowing things is a statement, except there is nothing for the solution," he replied, meeting not eye to eye. "Coincidentally, this vines have a purpose at the least and not some sort of accident. Whoever constructed them, design it to repel any outsiders or some invading force that we are right now. As for a possible option for an entrance; if you know anyone that is capable of magic then that would be the only solution to our dilemma."

With his explanation ended, Valer grabbed his bag and return to the group, passing by the mercenary.

Jane jumped off the vine as it swiped at her. The vines were mindless, so they could be manipulated. She got a quick idea on how to boost her progress. She jumped off the wall as the vine swiped down, when it came back up, she jumped on it, then up back on the wall. She was near the top.

About 5 seconds later, the vines violently smashed against the wall where she was. She jumped off and the vines followed suit towrds her. She twisted in the air as the vine shot past her and cut her clothes, but missed skin. A near miss. While in the air, she pulled out her bow and shot the vine with her Equinox Arrow (Arrow #7). The vine turned brown, as it was struck with decay. It would counteract the high-speed regrowth equally, and stop it from growing

Jane latched back onto the wall, but was now much lower than the Queen and Sigmar. Even though the vine wasn't growing itself anymore, it was still violent towards her. She was back to where she started, Dodging or Progressing but never both. It seemed like the vines in the other parts of the wall were starting to focus on her exclusively. The Equinox Arrow made her a higher threat than the others, so the entire wall was turning to her

She smiled as she dodged. Her plan worked perfectly. Her job was to protect the Queen, and she did just that by turning every vine on the wall against her, and removing the threat from the Queen. She couldn't stand there while the Queen climbed with the threat of fast-acting toxins. As long as she stayed on the wall dodging those vines, the Queen could progress safely. Obviously she couldn't take these vines on directly as they were extremely resilient, but being the bait when the situation called for it was Guerrilla Training 101

The vines some what grew angry, as they didn't like playing games. They started to expand, nothing seemed to work on them. It was in fact immune to the decay arrow, as it probably just had a strong immune system or something. So it started to make itself taller, to make the climb even harder. No ungrowth arrows or magic would stop them from protecting it's kingdom. The vines that were growing out from the black wall of thorns were green, entwining with each other and traveling upward. The green vines were weaker than the old black ones near the bottom but it knew its job, protect its king.

Killian wondered what the vines were trying to hide, it was just ruins beyond the wall, right? Nothing worth to protect. Or maybe it was because it was a sanctuary? A relic? Something important? Killian didn't know but started the climb the wall just as a vine protruded from the wall and wrapped around the queen. To everyone's luck, the vine was spike less, but squeezing her waist and growing small vines to get a hold on her limbs. The queen was gonna die.

She watched as the Queen got wrapped up, and sprung into action. "Open fire!" She yelled as she jumped towards the ground. She pulled out 2 arrows and fired them. The first one was called Overgrowth (Arrow #8). She shot it on the ground. A big green magic circle appeared and out shot a big vine straight up in the air. She latched onto it, then fired her other one, Mirror's Pierce (Arrow #28) which copied the abilities of whatever it hit at half power. It struck the vine wrapped around the Queen. Jane's body flashed green as she immediately acquired the ability to grow vines like who or whatever the hell made these vines.........at half power

Her eyes flashed green, and her vine grew smaller vines. They intertwined and struck at the smaller vines, keeping them from grabbing the Queen's limbs.

Those vines had a big resistance to her decay. It was emphasized by the vines turning back green. Who made these damn vines? A white mage? A Druid Sage? Bleh. It wasn't immune to status conditions, but it may as well be. She doubted even freezing would work. Not even the strongest of White Mages and Druid Sages could make an all resistant, sentient, guardian vine. It didn't even seem like something from earth

Were the vines attacking because of Jane? Or because the Queen was nearing the top? "30 arrows, and not one can take it down. Such a rarity" All Jane could do was stall the vine. She shot another Equinox Arrow (Arrow # 7), and the vine turned back brown. It wouldn't last long, but it would weaken the vine long enough for the others to get the Queen released

Sigmar nearly lost his footing as the vines sprung to life. Their wrath had been evoked by the ranger's magic arrows. The vines swung back and forth, trying to shake Sigmar off of the wall as a man would to a fly. Sigmar was left to dangle precariously, more than a hundred feet in the air. He could faintly hear the shouts of those who lost their grip. Two of the assassin hirelings had nearly reached the top before a stray vine flung both of them off to their doom. Sigmar feared that he would meet the same fate. He had to be quick and alert, for whenever he found a viable spot in the vines to grab, it would whisk itself away in less than ten seconds.

In the midst of the madness, Sigmar managed to catch a glimpse at the Queen, who had been trapped in a smorgasbord of green vines. Not wanting to betray his loyalty to her, he rushed to her aid. "Sire!" he shouted as he shimmied his way towards the Queen's location. The chaos of the vines impeded his progress, however, and he feared that his attempt to get to the Queen would be in vain.

So much has happened so fast. So far the queen was trapped, a few people has died, and he was just told off by a doctor. And this was a only 5 minutes in. I can tell this will be fun. Well, if anyone survives, Conrad thought. There wasn't much for him to do but sit back, and watch how horrible all this was going. He expected no one would survive and he would get to go home and attempt this anther day.

While chaos brew from their perilous ascent, Valer took the only course that's only known to him, and that is to wait until the event has come to pass.

As Valer reach to the confluence of his fellow comrade-in-arms, there was a commotion at the center; wounded soldiers laid dormant from all around, crying for help and aid. He turned his gaze toward the wall, glimpsing several soldiers that are in pursuit to assist their queen; he then notice another victim as he or she plummeted hard to the ground and innards burst in macabre.

There was a sudden scream from the ladies, the shock of young, raw recruit of pages and the cold unresponsive nature of random individuals like Valer for instance. Other doctors arrived to assist the wounded and nurses to ease; soon it was Valer's turn to assist them, to which, he did.

Gerald watch from the ground as everyone attempted the climb, even the Queen. He observed as the vines attacked some of them while climbing and they widened slightly when he saw the Queen, having neared the top get trapped by vines. Springing into action not wanting to fail his adoptive father, Gerald leapt up onto the vines, glad he had worn light armour that wouldn't get in the way of his climbing as much. This was where all that training under the tutelage of the knights was supposed to come in. He climbed while keeping a close watch on the vines, focusing on the climb in the hopes that it would help him get to the Queen even a second faster. He barely managed to pull himself out of the way as a stray vine swung wildly in his direction, delaying his ascent. "Shit." He clicked a tongue as he saw several others fall to join the pile of dead or near dead bodies at the bottom and hoped he or someone would get there in time to prevent the Queen from joining them.

Finally, after the queen grabbed a knife from her tall black boots and struck the vine, it wavered. It actually put her down gently on the ground, and stopped attacking people. The little green vines stopped growing, and the thorned black vines stopped attacking people. One minute later, the vines that closed the castle gates untangled themselves slowly and carefully. They pushed the gate open, which creaked and groaned, revealing rubble and chaos. Everything was over ran by weeds, everything was sinking into the soil, everything was falling apart, it all was worth nothing. It truly was the Barren Palace.

Killian turned her head to the gate as it swung open as the queen dusted herself off and the king aided her with worried eyes. This was all a lot to take in, and most of it made sense. But from what she could tell, the wall backed down, and is letting them inside... this just wasn't right.

As soon as the queen had drawn her knife, the vines suddenly backed down. Their branches went limp and they set their entangled captives gently on the ground below them before receding into the wall. It was as if they had conceded defeat as soon as Her Majesty plunged a knife into one of this monster's green veins. As Sigmar was slowly being lowered to the ground, he could only stare perplexedly as the vines crept back into their hiding place. It made no sense whatsoever, These godless botanical monstrosities had the upper hand in this fight, and just now it decides to fling the gates wide open and grant the convoy passage without further trouble. Half of the soldiers argued that the convoy must push on through the gate. The other half took a more skeptical viewpoint, feeling that the vines were setting up a ruse for them. Many were just lucky to live this long.

"We mustn't enter." warned Sigmar. "We don't know for sure if these vines still pose a threat to us."

What? thought Conrad to himself, The knife just opens the gate and stops the vines?! Why didn't she do that in the first place?. Conrad dreaded the stupidity of some people. An 8th of the people died, and we were 1 second away from it being one half!, Conrad was already in a bad mood, and he decided he didn't care what the kingdom official high constable said, he stormed through the gate and shook his head furiously.
