Fantasy The Bad Guys (Old)

Maxine follows him gripping his hand tightly "Thank you for still liking me despite my ranking"

Ethan: Thanks.
Francis: When I left the line with food in hand, finding a table would prove to be a task. Finding an acquaintance was not, and for that matter, neither was finding a gargantuan woman with shabby clothing and pink hair. Hi, Spencer. Who's this?

Spencer!
A familiar voice was heard from behind. Spencer tossed her head back and greeted Francis with a, "yo, Hood." before turning the rest of her body when she was confident Ingred was somehow lost with Spencer's question. "This is, uh... Ulga? No hold on, maybe Esther. Eugene?" She blinked twice before surrendering with a shrug. "I don't think she's playing with a full deck, Hood. We should probably just bail."

Securing a table was going to be too obnoxious of a task in the lunch room, so Spencer told Francis to head out front of the school, towards the courtyard's gardens. She'd meet him there after she grabbed her own lunch. All the commotion distracted her so badly she'd forgotten to even pick up a tray while the rest of the lunch line shuffled around. Francis would only be a few minutes earlier than Spencer now that much of the queue had died down; she'd meet him by the garden where kids had gathered earlier playing cards. They might even still be there shooting eye daggers at the freshmen. The potential for interaction definitely piqued Spencer's interest.

She thought about what other students might be like, such as the seniors in the garden. The day had been a rush since Spencer's arrival. Finding classes, printing schedules and moving in had left her bustling about without truly examining her new home and neighbors. She hadn't gotten many chances yet to observe her competition in action, or even hear about what people could do. Even Francis had kept himself mostly reserved thus far. Spencer, who had initially begrudged the idea of moving to a new state and away from loved ones to attend boarding school, felt an inkling of excitement for the first time since seeing the castle academy. Her heart pumped with mild adrenaline as she fell back into her thoughts of what might come, filing down the pasta bar and filling up with spaghetti. She grabbed an apple, a chocolate milk carton (obviously superior to strawberry,) and side dish of seasoned beef meatballs to accompany her main course. She traded one of the handkerchief twenties at the register, and then headed like planned to catch Francis somewhere outside, all the while still thinking about what she might encounter.

Ethan: On second thought, Maxine, why not go to the front garden? It may be more walking, but it's a nice day.
Francis: I headed out to the garden, unsure about taking the tray out of the cafeteria, but maybe I should at least try and break some rules. Worse yet, today was not a good day for my balance, evidence by the sliding bowl, clattering silverware, and rolling orange. I wondered what people would make of me nearly casting the contents of my tray off to the ground. They'd think me a dunce, I bet.

Maxine shakes her head "no one was home enough for us to get a dog. Plus I doubt we could have afforded one"

Ethan: And I guess you didn't have any other pets then. I don't exactly have any pets myself, but someday I'll get a dog. I'm thinking a Labrador.

Maxine nods "we had a fish, but my brother left the bowl in the sun and it kind of boiled to death"

Ethan: Dang. Well, fish can be delicate. I had one as a kid, and the thing got sick if I so much as looked at it funny. So of course mom gets a ton of fish medicine from the pet store. Who knew there's such a thing as fish medicine?

Ethan: I laughed. Heck yeah. God, if I had the opportunity to put my brother in a cage as a kid, I think I would have. He's very- how did dad put it?- Observational.

Ethan: Can't blame you for that. Honestly, I'd like my brother better if he were evil, but a brother is a brother, and I still hope to change him.
