Mar was practically glowing with anticipation. Summers with her muggle friends were great and all, but life was getting so boring without any magic to do. Even her wand had seemed bored (although, that might've had something to do with not being able to use any magic over the break).
Marley's parents, knowing her tidal wave of energetic excitement was nigh unstoppable, resigned their goodbyes to a quick hug and a few wishes of good-luck. "I'll be seein' ya again before you know it." Mar promised before turning tail and bolting toward the Hogwarts Express.
"And please no more explosions this year!" Her father called after her just as she disappeared into the train.
"I know, Pa!" Mar winced faintly. It wasn't like her wand combusted that much! Okay, maybe more than she'd liked (Mar had become infamous for her sycamore wand's temperament in previous years), but that was just something sycamore wands did when they weren't experiencing any 'advenutre' -or, at least that's what she'd been told. It wasn't her fault that the dang thing got bored so easily (even if she could relate).
Dragging herself out of her thoughts, Mar tugged her luggage behind her. Sal coo-ed indignantly as his cage got caught on a corner, nearly sending him tumbling to the floor. "Sorry bud." Marley whispered, shoving his cage back into place (and managing to slightly tear the sleeve of her denim jacket in the process). She frowned, stopping to shoot a sweeping glance across the compartments. Most appeared full.
As her gaze flickered from room to room, Mar's eyes caught on one containing a familiar face, as well as three strangers who she could only assume were first-years. Her eyes switched from Elliot to the first years a few times, the only thought running through her mind being Oh, those poor first years.
It wasn't that Mar disliked Elliot. He was a pretty okay guy (even if he was a bit blunt), and a respectable opponent when it came to quidditch, but he was definitely not the first person she'd want to meet if she was a first year.
So, Marley put on her best grin (something that was almost permanently plastered on her face anyways), and popped open the compartment door. "Hey, Elliot!" She gave him a friendly slap on the shoulder. "Nice ta' see another quidditch player again."
Mar sent a quick glance across the others in the compartment, "Mind if I sit here?" She asked, not waiting for an answer as she already began stuffing her luggage into the storage box.
OOC: Sorry if the writing's a bit janky, I'm writing this late at night so my editing skills are probably wack right now XD
