Stage Manager

Assistant Stage Manager

Lighting Director

Scenic Director

Costume Manager

Properties Manager

Running Crew

You're directing coaches consist of:

Musical Coach: Addison DiCamillo- 28 year old. Male. Studied vocal music at the Chicago Institute of Fine Arts. Coached for 3 years in off Broadway productions. Notable performances include singing in Carnegie Hall as well as the Sydney Opera House

Dance Coach: Suzette Pierce. 29 year old. Female. Got her start as a Rockette but her career sky rocketed from there. She has danced in the chorus of numerous Broadway shows and currently is a member of the New York City Ballet.

I will be your director extraordinaire, Miss Tabitha Rose. I look forward to receiving all your Character Sheets and please feel free to let me know which role you'd like to receive. Technical crew will be on a first come first serve basis. I'll see you all on the stage!

((Please note I couldn't think of a better way to assign parts but it's likely you'll be getting the role you request. And since you're not actually learning lines it won't matter that much what role you get, I'll make sure everyone gets fair stage time. This is not only my first realistic RP I've made but I my first ever time RPing in a SoL genre RP so bear with me on all of this. I'm also going to be playing the 3 directors unless someone wants to take either Dance or Music from me along with their other character. Thanks and any comments or ideas are HIGHLY appreciated!))

Just follow all the RpNation rules and we shouldn't have any problems. Also try to be active, and if you're gonna post it doesn't matter the length but make sure it moves the plot along..

Tabitha Rose unlocked the Bob Sheridan Theater doors early in the morning hoping to analyze their performance space before anyone else arrived. It was a dusty old place, hadn't been used in years. I like it, give it personality. The lone light on stage barely lit the auditorium but she was able to see well enough. She new that the light was a 'ghost light'. Rumor has it that every theater is haunted by a ghost, and so each one had a light that was always left on whenever the actors and crew left for the day. She didn't believe in such silly things but theater was always involved with traditions and a harmless one like that made things more fun.

She made her way to the front of the house and climbed the steps onto the stage heading to the wings to turn on more lights. She heard the electrical hum of the giant lights after flipping the switches. She loved being alone in a theater. The feeling was like being a child again, able to see potential for beauty in everything around you. She took a deep breathe in and wondered if this is how ancient Greek or Victorian directors of theater felt.

She placed her bag down and found a rack of chairs and began setting them in a circle on the stage. The cast and crew would arrive in the next hour for their first read through. She was immensely overjoyed to be putting on the first performance of "Life, Love and Loss" and was looking forward to the next eight weeks of rehearsal before their opening night. She went around the block and bought a few dozen boxes of donuts while she was waiting for everyone to show up.

Ciel hauled her messenger bag over her head and onto her shoulder, and then bent back in the car to get her morning smoothie. First day on the job. First day meeting the rest of the crew. First day meeting the actors. First opportunity to document all future hurtles. First day smoothie, last day black coffee. And if the production went well and the show closed on a good note, a smoothie for the last show.

Yes, Ciel started off every first day as if it were the last day of a fantastic production, and she was not going to rest until the latter was a reality.

Smoothie in hand she walked from the parking lot around to the back of the theater and used her spare key to enter. She dropped off her bag in a desk, which she locked, in a back corner of backstage that had been fitted to be her new 'open-air' office. Pencil and little black book in hand, she started taking notes as she walked to toward the stage curtain. As she neared the curtain she turned 90-degrees and followed it to the edge of the stage before reaching the edge of it and skirting around the wall enclosing the stage and taking the stage side stairs down into the gallery. She noticed the director on stage and walked around to the front of the stage.

"Ah. You put out chairs. For the actors no doubt. I apologize if one is for me, but I don't tend to hang out on stage unless I am fixing something for the actors....I tend to like the invisible 'presence', if you will, of the stage hands. I am much more at home here." Ciel admitted adjusting the wires to her headset before putting it on and turning on the radio on her hip.

"Alright stage manager plugged in. Ready to do your bidding, madam." Ciel made a short curtsey.

"Ah you must be Ciel. I am Tabitha and I am pleased to meet you. Your professionalism is very refreshing I've heard many great things about you. I hope you're ready for a lot of responsibility I don't have an assistant director so you maybe taking on some extra duties." She observed the young lady carefully. She really had heard great things about her. Tabitha had once had the pleasure of working with her uncle during a production of Agamemnon and he recently convinced her to hire Ciel on for the job.

Ciel already demonstrated that she knew the ropes, and she was going to be working side by side with Tabitha which meant they'd need to get along right away. "Well miss Ciel, normally I wont have any problems with you being behind the scenes but today you'll be on stage with the rest if us, taking notes and getting to know everyone." This was a test to see how she'd react. Tabitha knew most techies didn't like to be in the spot light but she had some bonding exercises planned that everyone would participate in.

"Now if you don't mind please go into the lighting booth and retrieve the scripts and score books as well as the attendance roster. We'll need to get to know over fifty actors and techies as soon as possible and I must finish setting up here. Oh and please take a donut or pastry." Tabitha may be a bit demanding, but she was very light hearted and besides, it was her job to run things.

Miki walked thought the door. She had her signature skinny jeans and loose belt around her waist. She had a tight top on with a sideways hat. She walked in, her convers heels clicking as she walked across the floor. She walked in and grabbed a pastry. "Sup." She said casually, munching on her doughnut.

About half of everyone had already showed up. All three directors had formed a huddle and began discussion on a rehearsal schedule. When the lead actress came in and gave them a casual "Sup," Tabitha turned her head.

"Ah Miki. How have you been since auditions? This is Addison and Suzette. We make up the directing team. Please take a seat we'll begin soon."

"M'kay." Miki said. She took a chair and sat down. She bounced her feet, making up a rap in her head. She thumped her feet, smiling. She thought up of chords. She watched the rest of the directors plan the play as she munched on her doughnut and all it's glutinous glory. She smiled, licking the glaze from her lips as she waited.

Alberta had hit traffic on the way to the auditorium and was running unusually late. She taped her steering wheel anxiously as she waited for the crowded streets to unfurl. She stared at the blinking neon blue lights of her stereo showing the time. Great first day and I'm late. What a great first impression. Frustrated Alberta slammed her hand on the steering wheel causing a loud honk to resonate across the streets, "MOVE! HURRY UP!"

Once out of the traffic jam, Alberta had floored it to the auditorium. She was glad to be able to find parking right away. Alberta grabbed her tote, stuffed the loose papers of the script inside it and towards the auditorium. She swept passed the halls and burst threw the door of the stage letting the bright light from the outside into the dimmed room. "Sorry I'm...late..." Alberta managed to say between fast shallow breaths, "There was...traffic...I got here...as fast as possible." Alberta had manage to break a slight sweat. She was agitated from the running, but ready to begin rehearsal.

Ciel nodded as she spoke, and turned to go to the lighting booth when one of the actresses arrived. She seemed like the main actress type and Ciel started noting this down in her little black book before she scooted off to do what the director had asked.

"Of course, miss. We cant get started without those." she said to the director.

Heading up one of the aisles to the back of the theater, Ciel located the stairs and headed up. On the stairs she found some rather drowsy lighting techs. Of course, they were reprimanded for napping on the steps, before she told them to turn on their sets and unlock the booth.

In the booth she had the techs take their station before taking the scripts from a chair, the attendance sheet from the lighting console, and liberating the score books from a locked drawer, put there by hopeful composers. Things in hand on of the techs helped her back down the stairs.

"All here, Director." She said handing the three items to the director and climbing up on the stage before taking a seat on the far end.

"I suppose you want me up here to get to know all the actors I will be working with?" Ciel asked.

The lead actress ran in thinking she was late but she had arrived in time. "No need to worry miss," Tabitha checked her list "Alberta. I changed the time last night. We still have ten more minutes. Please do check your emails, though I might have skipped your name on my list. It was rather late. Well either way do check with Ciel the stage manager before you leave today and ensure we have the correct contact information. Now please grab something to eat while we wait for the others."

About that time Ciel came back with the scripts and scores. "Ah my dear fabulous, thank you. Please do start taking attentendance. I'll follow you around and pass out the scripts. Addison, please take the score books and follow me."

Addison did as he was told and Suzette followed along too handing out sheets concerning the choreography. Everyone would need a pair of tap shoes and as there were notes on stretching exercises and even an invitation to partake in one free dance class at her studio. The directors were a friendly bunch and wanted everyone involved to feel comfortable.

((Please everyone post at least once in the OCC. I'll likely do many announcements and updates there.))

Alberta nodded and walked over to take a seat. She rarely checked her emails since most of them were just spam, but now seemed like a good time to start checking them. She looked over at the other people who were already there and introduced herself before sitting down. "Hi I'm Alberta, but you can call me Betty." She smiled at the people and sat down placing her tote over her lap.

When the scripts, scores and routines were being passed out Alberta looked around nervously hopping she would be decent enough for the part. Sure she had been cast, but there was always room for screw ups. She had to make sure she didn't let that happen.

Taking a second look at the script and score they didn't seem that difficult just several high notes that would need to be worked on a some low notes that she might have some trouble hitting, but nothing practice couldn't fix. However, looking at the choreography made Alberta's heart skip a beat.

Unlike most of the girl's she had met, Alberta had never gone to a dance academy. When it came to dancing she had two left feet and a very stiff body. There was no way that she would be able to learn these routines. Taking in a deep breath Alberta put on her best acting face and pretended like it was all a piece of cake even though she was dying on the inside.

Ciel nodded, shifting the stacks of papers around in her arms until she could give Tabitha two of them. Relieved of them she shifted the scripts to one hand.

"Alright, scripts going out!" She called out before walking around the little groups of chairs. "Hello. My name is Ciel. I will be your stage manager for this production." Ciel handed out her cookie cutter introduction while she handed out the scripts to the actors, and shook hands after each one.

Done, with the task she walked back to her seat on the far end and awaited instructions.

"Director maybe we should have our little extroverts present themselves to the cast and each other as a sort of icebreaker to get them started."Ciel said turning to the director. "A chance 'to strut their stuff' if you will."

This ploy was not without precedence, as Ciel noticed that actors that don't show what they've got, tend spend the whole production trying to show off, and that can gum up the works.

"Oh gosh, I swear I am not this late all the time!" Lee pretty much cried out as he stepped up to the stage. "I do hope I wasn't keeping you all waiting? How are you?" He smiled nervously, of course, more nervous about the other cast and crew judging him for his lateness. He stood up on the stage now, hands by his side. "I'm Lee, by the way, it is a pleasure to meet you all! And I'm sure this is gonna be a lot of fun~" He smiled, stepping forward and taking a seat.

Ciel dragged herself out her chair again and walked across the semi-circle of chairs.

"Well, I suppose you have not bothered me any, and the director seems to be forgiving of everyone's first day jitters." Ciel commented on Lee's tardiness.

"Just try to be on time for now." She smiled handing Lee a script. "I am Ciel, and i will be your stage manager."

Finished she quickly returned to her seat.

"Alright, I think that is everyone for now." She looked at the director. "I think..."

With the arrival of Lee they were finally ready to begin. "Okay folks we're going to begin with stretching so follow my lead." She raised her arms over her head and began. " We're going to be bust busy busy over the next few months so please everyone honor the schedule we come up with and be early, not just on time. Also we'll be simply going through a readthrough today as well as taking your measurements for costume fitting so please get with the lovely Miss Valerie Fulton, our costume and make up designer and she will assist you with that."

The stretching ended and she said "There. Isn't that much better. Are we all feeling relaxed? Good. Now for some team building." She went to her bag and pulled out some pages, passing them around the circle. "These are a list if Shakespearean insults. Choose one item from each column to say to your neighbor. It won't be that easy to get along all the time. If you ever feel frustrated think if today where we came up with our hilarious insults and calm down. Now I'll begin." She turned to her choreographer and proclaimed in accent, "Thou art a saucy dizzy-eyed giglet."

It was too hard for Alberta to follow the choreographer while trying to sustain her laughter at the same time. She wasn't sure if the choreographer intended for them to laugh while stretching or if she was testing their poker face. Confused by how she was supposed to react Alberta decided to go next so she could see everyone's reaction and mimic it after. "I'll go."

With one hand she took the list and read the first line that stood out to her in every column, "Thou are a spleeny knotty-patted pigeon egg."

Ciel's face froze for a moment. Shakespearean insults? Really, the staff too?

The actors sure, they could say those types of things and shake it off, but Ciel?

No, no, no a serious person like her could never live down the embarrassment!

What could she do?! Every time she cut down a prima-donna ruining the set or using a prop improperly, they quote that insult back at her!

Twisting the blade of her embarrassment until her pride could take no more! A fate worse than tripping off the stage while exiting the scene.

Ciel's eyes darted from the director to the cast and back and forth. She seemed preoccupied with the actors, and so Ciel made very small, very slow, very quiet movements in her chair to separate from the rest of the group.

Determination coated her face and the edge of the stage seemed to glow in a golden light that got brighter as she got closer.
