Sword Art Online: Server in ruins

In spain its almost 22 PM, but another clock set on the Austin, TX timetable says its almost 3 PM in the states, at least in Texas:))

its the status code at the beginning of the post..its badly made, you have to bold manually using the option in the reply box/More options and delete the and [/ b ] the the status code at the beginning

@eXgTurbostar

@Zerohex

Perhaps you should wait a bit until I get to that first post to know what type of ride this is. However the answer is both.

Also I fixed the incorrect end caps on the bbcode thing on sign ups. Speaking of it please don't use your picture over the sleek minimalist bbcode thing I made. Large pictures annoy my scrolling experience by being loud and consuming unnecessary space

@LeSoraAmari

Fix your formatting to match the others and make your pictures less large

@cooljavis007

Same minus the picture edit

@Mojique

This isn't .hack fix it and your formatting

Anyway I'll get to posting up the IC in a bit now that the servers or site aren't crapping themselves

I may leave in Spain but i'm originary from Romania, but I'll take that too:)) and this one "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!"

It begins

One stupid question. Kayaba's explanation could be heard in all of Aincrad/First floor right? cause I can't not notice the part of " teleporting of the gamers to the town square"

I did give fair warning about the post revealing what type of ride this is.

No teleportation, only those in the square

so the others don't know???

//well now I have to rethink that part.... Y U NO TELEPORT:))) or at least a wide sprea broadcast:))

//noah I'm joking, this change from the canon makes it more interesting

Well okay, I guess it's no fucks given rule of cool. I can live with that. At least the combat won't be an awful string of repeating the same moves over and over.

Yup.

Unless you feel the urge to somehow come up with an acceptable explanation of how you'd do the fancier moves all freeform minus the pose thing. In which a meta reward might be happening.

Also:

HEADS UP!

Once everyone else who hasn't posted gets around to posting I'll get to tabulating your gains in money and Xps if you did enough stuff you'll probably get some levels.

I'm not saying it'll be great but I think I can do that and come up with a better system than hotbar posing and nothing else working. Do I bullshit it here first before posting about it IC?

Posit it here.

My thought is for the more flashy moves you consume stamina for some sort of matrix slowdown thing to input your commands.

Freeform attacks are j better by scrolling through your options and selecting the tiny lettered listing.

Okay so first of, having to rely entirely on hotbar skills to do anything is absurd. If the player's brain is directly in control of the character and they have a full range of motion and control, they should be able to engage in natural fighting, with super moves being special rather than the norm for attacking. No more pose, attack, cooldown, pose spam with actually swinging your weapon being completely ineffective.

So, the way I see it, the nerve gear is already messing with your brain directly, yes? It's blocking out all feedback from your body and replacing it with the game's data. So, in order to justify actually being good at fighting even when you shouldn't be, why not make it so the game recognizes whatever weapon skill you have and matrixes the information on how to fight with it directly into your brain for as long as you're in the game?

It'd make fighting second nature of a sort, you start out with only a vague idea of how to do your shit or whatever real life skills in fighting you have, limited by your low, low level. Even if you're a real life badass you don't fight monsters in real life. As you progress in a weapon skill the game uploads more and more combat data into your brain so you constantly become better at it. Bam, natural fighting justified, potential plothook added.

To trigger special moves, I'm thinking a mental interface that also makes use of the mindjack, IE, you think about performing the move and the game puts you through it because THE GAME IS ALREADY TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR BRAIN. It'd be strange and uncomfortable at first but people would get used to it as time goes by. It can also be justified as being a similar process to getting used to a robotic prosthesis.

These replacements are necessary because SAO's swordskills are triggered by the simplest of poses, if you want natural fighting we can't have that. The mental interface thing is also supplemented by verbal commands. We have mindjack helmets, don't tell me the technology for voice recognition isn't good enough. Voice commands are a simple, cheesy, fun alternative that can be justified because sometimes it's easier to just say X out loud and get the desired effect than focusing on having your brain do something it's not quite used to yet.
