I will be updating it and adding the other character stats..lvl exp/skill exp etc

Welp, just going to admit I'm confused. I'd rather have a more freeflowing combat that actually uses the goddamn nerve gear mindjack thing over the absurdity that is having full control over your body yet only being able to fight by using your hotbar skills. But there's a bunch of posts going in different directions and either following canon stringently or plain ignoring it in favor of a cooler narrative.

So, what the fuck do I do? Shouldn't, you know, the GM be in charge of controlling NPC monsters, encounters and loot drops since he's also going to handle the experience and levelup aspects?

we agreed that this rp will be using canon, but a little modified to resemble an actual rpg,the storyline is the canon one..so ppl using hotbar skills need to change that part:D, when again, who is doing that? I think we all are using NerveGear, one chick starts streaming live, with her webcam recording her body laying in the bed while she plays SAO, lol !!!!

you are using hotbar skills, @eXgTurbostar, because that's how canon SAO combat works with its Sword Skills and I think it's dumb. I call it hotbar skills because, despite having full body control with nerve gear, combat-wise you're still limited to a series of very specific preprogrammed attacks that you gain access to depending on what you've leveled and that you fire off in quick succession/as needed then wait for their cooldown.

Despite being able to actually engage in fantastical combat because you are literally there and you control your body and you see and feel as you do in real life, a player actually trying to do a move is meaningless beyond repositioning and I guess dodging because you have to adopt the specific pose and fire the pre-established attack or not actually do any damage. Hence, it's very much hotbar combat as seen in current day MMOs.

Hell current day MMOs often have ways to engage in fights beyond "fire off cooldown-controlled skills as you get them to actually do damage". Meanwhile blumenkranz is ignoring canon by actually having free combat abilities where acting in a natural fighty way gives results, rather than having to stop, pose, fire Sword Skill, stop for cooldown, repeat. And considering everything else about the RP at large, I still think the GM should be in charge of deciding encounters and drops.

what you want to play here is a tabletop rp....that is a totally different thing, where people discuss their course of action and ARE TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE IN THE SAME TIME...you can't expect the same kind of rp here..because of the lack of details provided by Ixa we each have to "guess" what he expects of the rp and so most of us are using canon...

A) People don't always discuss their course of action in a tabletop roleplay, players are very much free to make their own OOC and IC decisions and apply them as they will. In fact, I've seen more discussing about courses of action and where and how the RP will go from freeform play by post forums than in tabletop campaigns, since it becomes a necessity considering the usual lack of defined combat rules and the need for explicit player approval before offing a character.

B) People are not always together in one place at the same time in tabletop roleplays either. Neither IC nor OOC. I play campaigns mostly through skype because my tabletop group all lives far, far away from eachother. Also, groups can and often do split up IC in tabletop games and while it can prove to be a headache for the GM, it's not forbidden nor is it impossible or even that rare.

C) The lack of detail provided by Ixa is what's confusing me, hence why I stopped to ask about the stuff. Considering he handles XP and character advancement much like a tabletop GM does, I figured he'd also, you know, handle the rest of GM duties such as choosing what encounters each player has in order to better control the flow of resources to the players, be it level ups, skill ups, items, money and the like.

"most of us" are just doing our own thing precisely because of the lack of information, with you being the only player I've seen that's incredibly set on following the anime's canon to the letter. Everyone else seems to just post about fucking up the boar by swinging their weapons and engaging in narrative fighting rather than stopping and spamming the level 1 attack skill like you did.

Use Rule of Cool. If it will help your post look cooler, you can shit on the canon.

I'd rather do that, because in this case the canon makes no sense considering the tools the universe has, but I thought it'd be better to ask the GM.

Well, Rule of Cool IS canon, after all. Taquito managed to break the game's internal rules through THE POWER OF LOVE, so yeah...

don't mind me..i was thinking about another one:D

when will our fearless leader give the thumbs up to start rp-ing after Kayaba's speech
