No joke, I love Bug Pokemon! I keep bugs as pets IRL too. I have tarantulas, and I've kept praying mantises and jumping spiders.

Now that I've got Pokemon on my mind, I went and used a Pokemon Team Planner to make my hypothetical PKMN teams for my PCs. I've made a team for Layton too. Unfortunately, while this was the best PKMN Team Planner I could find, it doesn't have the Paldea Pokedex in it so I've had to replace some 'mons from my previous list.
For Layton I used the same rules as I did for the other three: 1. Only one starter PKMN, 2. I won't use any PKMN that is on the Smash Roster, 3. No legendaries, 4. Keep the team as varied as possible. There were a lot of Rock, Ground, Ghost, and Psychic-types that could fit Layton as he's an archaeologist, a professor, and a solver of puzzles, and I had to make a decision on what fossil PKMN to give him. I was so tempted to give him Aegislash and Gallade, but since the Prof. Layton games are known for their quirky character designs I thought giving him more unusual 'mons such as Reuniclus and Sirfetch'd would be better. I can easily see those two next to Layton; it just seems right to me.
Yes, I put a Whimsicott on Dark Pit's team. It's a very mischievous Grass/Fairy type. At first I was going to put in Shiftry, but then thought Whimsicott's cute contrast with the rest of the team (and its trainer) would be fun, and a Grass-type could reflect his joining the Forces of Nature. I also see it as the "dark" counterpart of the cute and mischievous Emolga on Pit's team.

The whimsicott being on Dark Pit’s team is such a good choice for representing the Forces of Nature I always name mine Viridi so maybe I’m bias lmao

Despite what the game community likes to think, Dark Pit really isn't that edgy, even less so in the Japanese version of the game. I don't see it too farfetched (lol) for him to have at least one cute 'mon on his team! To me, he seems like the type to like animals more than people. I can easily see Dark Pit doing cute things such as refusing to move while Pichu, Pikachu, or Kirby are sitting on his lap, or picking a fruit out of a tree to give to a Chao, or casually patting Yoshi's nose while walking by.

I can definitely see that! Like just because a character has edge to them doesn’t mean they can’t have soft attributes (that they probably hide)

I played and finished a Kid Icarus: Uprising stream for my friends who have never seen the game.
Playing the game on PC, with a Gamecube controller, is a MISERABLE experience, but I did it! @_@
I had to do a lot of messing around with controls to be able to just play the game. I joked that I could play any game now that I've finished this one the way I had. "I think I can play Dark Souls now, guys!"
