Starbucks and Sarcasm

Dylan turned to her confused, "General I like it in anything. So, basically yes." Dylan stated, it wasn't that confusing was it. "I like Ground beef in everything, as a general main ingredient."

Dylan watched her for a moment, not really sure why he did. She looked out and he just couldn't help but look at her. "What's up?" He asked, wondering what she was thinking. He couldn't help his curiosity, but in the back of his mind, he thought he tried to understand why he couldn't.

"Just watching people...and thinking. About what it's like to be you. If I was just logical and practical, I'd never make bad choices based on emotions." She turned to look at him again, resting her head on her knees that were pulled up.

Dylan grinned, he could think of a bad chose he wanted to make now, but he ignored it. "I'm not a robot. I make choices with logic. Not all of which are really good. For example, sex. I avoid emotional connection and it upsets every partner I've ever had."

"Hmm. But surely they know, before, that you don't do the emotional parts?" she asked, though thinking of Dylan and other girls made a flame of irrational jealousy flare up inside her. "But that's got to be better than thinking someone loves you, and then finding them sleeping with someone else."

Dylan grinned, "It's a interesting conversation, to say the least." He chuckled, then looked at her with a hint of curiosity about her quick flash about his sexual activity. Then he looked serious at her, "You sound oddly experience, was that what happened with Cory?"

"Among other things, yes. It's quite a shock, seeing the love of your life with some blonde's legs wrapped around him." She looked away quickly as tears clouded her eyes for a moment. She took a deep breath, and once they were gone she looked back at him. "Maybe I ought to try your way..."

"I don't know, you think you can teach me how to control my emotions? And then how do you even meet people? Just like walk up and say 'hi, I'd like to sleep with you, but I really don't want to get involved on any other level'? " she asked, looking skeptically at him.

Dylan chuckled, "Not exactly, but something like that. As for teaching you, I don't think it can be taught. I guess if you understand how I do it, you might get an idea, if I show you." Dylan leaned to Melanie and kissed her.

Melanie froze at first, completely caught off guard by Dylan's kiss. After a moment she relaxed and began to kiss him back. In the back of her head a voice was warning her this was a bad idea, but she ignored it.

Dylan grinned, pulling away, "That was an emotional response. You aren't supposed to respond. Try it again." he stated before leaning in to kiss her again. He couldn't deny that he wanted her to respond, it was actually good. But logically, a kiss lacking an emotional attachment, doesn't have a response. His hadn reached her cheek, as he pulled her in.

Melanie just stared at him speechless and then suddenly he was kissing her again. Don't respond, don't respond. She chanted that in her mind and managed to remain still...until he touched her cheek and pulled her closer. She gave up and kissed him back again.

Dylan grinned, as he pulled away, "I don't think you could manage going through life like me." He said, when he pulled away, leaning back to were he had been. He sighed, in the back of his mind, he didn't want to pull away. He wanted to kiss her a bet longer, but logically it was not good. She was helping him, he was just showing her that she wouldn't be able to manage it. Looking at the surrounds, in hopes of holding back that little voice, "Maybe, you should be more careful what you trust, when it comes to your emotions."

"You're probably right, the emotional connection is too important to me I guess. " She sighed, staring off into space as she spoke. "I know, I'm a terrible judge of character. I just trust people when I shouldn't." She wrinkled her nose in frustration at herself. "Maybe I just shouldn't date, or have sex, or anything. People do that right? It's a thing..."

Dylan chuckled, "It's something. But if I can't pull it off, there is no way you can pull it off." Dylan said, still not looking at her. "If you want, you can try it. If you need some release, you can call me. You already know I lack the emotion, so it should be logical for your mind to understand that sex is only sex with me."

"It's not you I'm worried about," she muttered under her breath. "C'mon, it's getting late. We should get back, your stuff is still in my room."

Dylan sighed, getting to his feet, "Yeah, I have to get ready for work anyway. I'll follow you."

Melanie nodded and led the way back to campus, not saying much on the way. She opened her door and let him inside. "So...when do you want to work on the paper writing thing again?" she asked, though her eyes kept straying to his lips no matter how much she tried to forget the kiss earlier.

Dylan tightened his lips again swaying them as he thought, "I guess we can work on it whenever you have free time. I'll take notes before I get started on my paper. But I'll turn this paper in, If you say it's okay?" Dylan said, as he got his bag and the paper she had been reading. He placed it in his bag as he placed his bag on his shoulder.

"Yeah, you're making progress for sure. Um, I guess I'll see you in a few days then...here's my number," she said writing it down on a post-it note and handing it to him.

Dylan smiled, "Good. Then with your help, I should be able to get the fictional story up to his standards." Dylan said, as he took the post-it note, "I'll call you tomorrow to see when you want to meet, okay?"

Dylan smiled, "I look forward to it." he said, Before heading for the door and leaving. He couldn't help his grin, thinking about the time he had with her. And that kiss. She kissed back and for once in his life, he liked it.
