I like them, too. There is one more War Mount left to post, but I have to type that one up from my PDF of the Rifter. It is called the Tunnel Rat, and just like its name would suggest, it is a rat the size of a small horse.

Those three ground War Mounts are pretty cool. I don't know which one I like the most: The razor-belly of the Goliath, the power punches of the Silverback, or the sneaky powers of the Stalker. Nice.

I was thinking pretty similar! The Griffin would be fun to fly in. But chainsaw tank bear looks fun to go nuts in. And that stalker looks particularly fun to do all those tricky dicky things the others can't. Even more cool depending on how many of its toxins can effect machines.

A rat you say... a tunneling rat? That also sounds pretty fun.

The Tunnel Rat was made to be an insult to the Machine, since one of its early tasks was to 'eradicate the vermin' on the planet of the rats that continued to be a pest. They are good diggers, but overall are not as tough as the other War Mounts.

I'll try to get the Tunnel Rat typed up for you to look at tomorrow.

No rush! But I'll gladly look at it. I still got to look over the main book and come up with a proper concept.

Chaska decides to "lose it later" and calmly and slowly record the Assault Slayer going over his head. He is like a child in a very dangerous museum; understanding his danger and not giving in to fear.

Perhaps, he thinks, this data may be useful to House Artemis. In the future, a weak spot from this angle might be found. It never served one to lose their head in combat.

If you lived, there was time to do that later. If you freaked out during the incident, there might be no later. =)
BTW, I hope you don't mind that I took a slight liberty with your character, saying Chaska freezes in place. It worked for me, since I rolled a 7 on the Prowl roll for you.

If that's what kept him alive, and there was no other reasonable option, I'm fine with it. =)

I just hope that recording gets back to the Kraken! =)

There were other options, but I thought it would be a cool scene to describe. lol

As you move through the ruined building, a group of horrors drop down from one of the higher floors, landing in the middle of the line of Splicers.

There are five of these monstrosities; four-foot-tall multi-legged things with multiple screaming human faces sticking out of them, with a large laser rifle built into them. They spin towards Toni and begin shooting. Four of the five triple-shot pulse laser attacks are going to hit unless you can dodge.
Wait, wait, wait... what?!

Sherwood Sherwood I'm sorry, but someone's going to have to explain this one to me.

Having just dodged this Assault Slayer, Cerberus is arguably at their peak level of awareness when five of these things, each with multiple screaming faces, get within 20 feet of our squad? No Detect Ambush? No Radar? No Echo-location? No Motion Detection or anything else? Just POW and they're here, basically within melee, and all over us? Screaming the whole time?

What did Cerberus do as they walked up hearing all of this screaming? How did we not hear them? What is the point of making characters and Host Armors with all of this gear is something this blatantly obvious can get within 20 feet of us and open up without a single one of us even having a clue?

What is going on, please? I am terribly confused.

Ok, I can see what you are saying. I'll give you guys a Detect Ambush roll at a -25% due to the chaos of the fighting. If one of you make it, I'll redo the surprise attack and spare Toni the damage and save her from her horrid dodge roll.

Let me also try and describe for you the scene a bit better. The group is currently moving through the rough tunnel made by the other robots in their struggle with one another, and as you are passing through this tunnel, the five Gun Spiders are about to leap down from one of the now opened up higher floors to land in your midst.

I have Detect Ambush at 72%. I'll try my roll.

BTW, thanks Purr Purr ! I hadn't even thought of this!

Even with the minus, I made my roll.

I don't understand why radar, Echo-location, or motion detection all fail to spot them? And each of the five has multiple heads, each of them screaming? Given the situation, one would think even the sound of a single person screaming would immediately get Cerberus's attention. Now it's 5 x (insert value of "multiple" here) = ?? (which is far more than 1).

How can Cerberus fail to detect them?

I'm not asking for any redos. I'm not asking for any advantages.

I just want the scene to make sense in my head. That's what I'm asking for. =)

Well, I'm only human, and I'm liable to make more mistakes in the future. But at least I can admit when I'm wrong and I'm willing to fix it.

Psychie Psychie you get a freebie on that nat 1 dodge, but I'm keeping your initiative roll. I'll edit the IC post now.

Thanks, but I don't get what's going on. I mean... has Cerberus suddenly gone deaf? Taken their attention off of their Host Armor's many BIO-E devices that detect these things? Do these enemies each have the ability to prevent them from working?

Why didn't Cerberus hear them when they were screaming from floors above them?

I'm going to use a question I hardly ever use - does this make sense to anyone else or is it just the hyperactive player (me?)? Because if this scene makes sense to the rest of you, I'll chalk it up to my disabilities and move on.

Oh. Chaska's current modifier to Initiative is +8.

Lets go over what was thinking when I made that post.

First, Radar, while great in the open, is practically useless inside a building with a hole blasted into it, and the Gun Spiders are on the fourth floor looking down from inside the building to the ground below.

While I was thinking about the sounds of the surrounding fighting, I didn't take into consideration the advanced audio systems of your Host Armor, especially the Echo Location. I messed that up, because you should have had at least a Perception check and I didn't think of it.

Active combat of this scale is going to be loud, and there are other sources of noise besides the shooting and explosions that I was thinking would cover up the sound of the approaching bad guys. Like I said, I had not taken into consideration your advanced detection systems besides the Radar that some of you have.

Sherwood Sherwood Oh! You made a mistake! O.K.! I get it. I certainly make those.

O.K.. So... one of Cerberus (Toni) just made her Detect Ambush check so that satisfies your earlier statement:

Can Chaska spend an Action Point on the Perception check on his Echo Location?

You can, but at this point, you don't really need to. This is going to be a flat initiative roll for the party since the cries of the heads on the Gun Spiders help to give away their positions.

Sherwood Sherwood Ah! So neither side gets an advantage on the other. That's about as fair as I can imagine given all of the provided details put together.

Thanks, Bud! That works great!

Friends and fellow gamers? Please pardon me for being so detail-oriented? This is the way I think in Real Life most of the time. It's not exactly something I can turn on and off (though headaches and migraines often get in the way). Heh! =)

Hey, like I said, I'm only human. You come up with a reasonable and cohesive argument for your position, I'll listen to it. There may be times that I have things out of the players' eyes that counter your point, but this time you had it right.
