Dakota Eimear

Code-name: Echo

Classification: Meister

Status: NOT

Partner: N/A

Location: Ice Cream Social

Mood: Awkward
Dakota sat off to one side of the Ice Cream Social someone had decided to throw. Most likely Lord Death, with all his random spurrs of ideas. Before her upon a table sat a slowly melting dish of ice cream that had obviously not been touched once. Her eyes traveled around idly, watching as the meisters and weapons that had gone to save Death City returned, or at least those that were still in one piece.

She hadn't wanted to come to this social thing, and would have much preferred to stay in the classroom reading away at her books. However, her friends had decided that was not acceptable and dragged her away from her quiet hiding spot, to this place. They then stuffed ice cream in front of her, then ran away to go mingle, leaving their emotionally unstable and socially awkward friend to fend for herself.

So far, Dakota hadn't been bugged, and thus had avoided looking like a complete scatterbrained idiot. She continued to sit off in her little corner, watching the groups and people intermingle, all the while letting her ice cream go completely to waste and debating the idea of just ditching and going back to her hiding place. Normally, she would have done just that, but the only hiding place she knew her friends wouldn't find her at was out in the maddened Death City. She couldn't go out there, obviously, and risk getting infected, and as such, she still sat where she had sat ever since being dragged to the social.

She felt extremely out of place with this crew, like she didn't fit in, though she knew it wasn't true. Crowds made her very uneasy, and being surround by strangers she might recognize only from days watching from afar, the awkward feeling building in her gut stayed. Her eyes continued to flick between figures, until they landed on the NOT Professor and the student he was conversing with. She smiled faintly, then continued with her observations, still looking for her friends that had abandoned her.

Alexander “Xander” Traynor

"You ok, kiddo? Did they run out of your favorite flavor? Or did whatever mission they assigned you to not go as well as you wanted it to?"

The look that Xander gave the professor who had tried to talk to him was one straight from hell; it was the kind of thing that nearly screamed “Who the fuck are you and why should I not just kill you now?” Of course, Xander didn’t actually say that, but it was very similar to the words that happened to be running through his mind at that moment in time because whoever this teacher was, he clearly didn’t have eyes. Can he not see that I’m literally holding an ice pack to my cheek? How about the fact that my nose is still likely misshapen? No eyes… huh?

Glancing down at the cone of chocolate ice cream Xander still held in his hand, another question made it clear that the teacher wasn’t paying attention. If Xander had an ice cream cone already, why on earth would this teacher think that he was upset because they were out of a certain flavor? Xander was actually quite relieved when the teacher turned and walked away from him because it meant he didn’t actually have to try and engage in civilized conversation.

Watching the teacher only for a brief moment after he walked away, Xander turned his attention to other clumps of students throughout the courtyard and his eyes fell on quite a few interesting ones. Of course, there would always be the idiot Warren, screaming and shouting his own name to the heavans like he owned the place. Xander scoffed slightly at that before his eyes moved on, only to fall upon his own sister. His own sister - holding hands with the one who had beat him up only a few hours prior. His eyes narrowed and in a fit of rage, Xander threw his chocolate ice cream cone at the ground, spattering it onto the cement and likely splattering anyone who stood nearby although he didn’t care.

Crossing his arms in front of him, his eyes remained trapped in a deadly glare that he would likely not eliminate for the remainder of the day.

Warren’s eyes focused on Akahana for a moment as she seemed to completely ignore him. He had quite honestly expected a response - she was talking to ‘The GREAT Evening Star’ after all. Shouldn’t she show some respect? Nevertheless, Warren shrugged it off, deciding that he still needed ice cream and that he also needed to spread his glory on to bigger and better people because this one clearly didn’t deserve it. Sliding off his jacket, Warren slung it over Akahana’s shoulder and said, “Keep it toots. I’ll even autograph it for ya later!”

Without even waiting for a reply, Warren walked off, giving a slight wink to Professor Parson as he walked by. He made a beeline for the prize of this whole thing - cookies and creme ice cream - before he finally turned around with a dish in hand to see who looked open to one of his greatness speeches.

First, his eyes fell on Jayce. Nope. He’s definitely not worthy!

Moving on, Warren’s eyes fell on a girl who he didn’t think he had ever met. Given he’d missed the first two weeks, that wasn’t much of a surprise, but it still meant that she hadn’t met him either. Who better to start with? And so it was that Warren walked over to Dakota with a smile on his face before his voice jubilantly demanded her attention.

“Hey there young miss!” Warren greeted, a little more loudly than would have seemed absolutely necessary. “Whatcha sitting all alone over here for? That’s certainly not the best plan when you could be meeting the great Evening Star, soon to become the next Death Scythe!” It almost sounded as though Warren was addressing everyone who could hear him rather than simply addressing the girl who sat at the table. Putting a hand to his mouth, Warren whispered so that only Dakota could hear, “That’s me, by the way.”

Thoughts/Headspace

“Ugh, annoying teachers…”She finally managed to slip away from the line of sight from other people-- well, the line of sight of teachers at least. Why did people want to talk so damn much? Sheesh. She got less action out of a guy she stabbed the eye out of!Whatever… She decided to just hide off somewhere until this weird thing was over… She didn’t know how parties functioned at all.

Arthur kept running as fast as he could(which was pretty fast for a short guy) until he found himself knocking down a big wall of Akahana… with his face…. Not a good day to be King…

Akahana yelped when the midget ginger plowed into her body.“D’aahh! Wuzzah!”She screamed as she fell backwards. She had a firm hand on her mask, though, “Who’re you?” She said, staring at him intensely through the eyehole, “You got a death wish, ginger?” Her voice suddenly stooped into a more deep, dark tone.

Arthur groaned and looked at the girl, his eyes instantly finding the tale tell signs of her breast, and realizing her gender. “Ugh… not another one…” He moaned in despair, “The fates hate me today…” He’d really had his fill of the female population today, so much so that he had to ask his 21 fairy escorts to flutter behind him so he would not have to gaze at their feminine form. In one day he’d had to interact with, and be in the presence of, way too many women. Any at all was too many in Arthur’s opinion, but this was ridiculous!

“What’s your deal, ginger?” She rose an eyebrow when he started moaning and complaining at her.“Oh come on, i’m not THAT disgusting.” She crossed her arms as she stood up, fixing her hoodie,“Look, if all you’re going to do is bitch and moan, i’m going to go back to hiding from those weirdos out there.” She pointed at thumb at the people gathered up for the social.

Arthur rubbed his temples to relieve the headache there, before one of his little fairies started ringing in his ear. He of course answered the fairy, despite looking like a fool who was talking to himself. “No I don’t want you to pull her hair…. I don’t want to look at you Ophelia! I’m not in the mood!” He yelled to the seemingly empty space. “Can you all please just be quiet for 2 seconds?”

She suddenly put a hand to her lips, beginning to laugh out loud at his behavior.“Aahh, ginger! You’re great, dude!” She could not contain her laughter. She seemed to be close to falling down and rolling to appease her hurting sides.“What’s your name!? You’re awesome!” She suddenly patted his back, “You’re way better than those weirdos out there!”

Arthur looked at her confused, and said, “King Arthur Oliver Williams…. You don’t mind me talking to my people? Most people just call me insane…”

She made a ‘pfft’ noise, waving her hand off at him.“You do you, boo. You’re talking to someone who laughs at someone getting gutted. Having a chit-chat with some buddies isn’t close to that bad.”She suddenly grabbed his hand, releasing a faint giggle as she roughly shook it.“Akahana Shima, sir.”

Arthur nodded, and shook her hand, while standing up. He was still a bit nervous about her, but she was the first girl to ever accept his people. He contemplated her even being one of them. “Um… Say… You don’t happen to be one of my people in a human form, are you?”

“Don’t really know what that means, but uhm, no I guess? Not sure.”
She tapped her chin, “Yeah I have no idea. By DWMA standards I guess i’m a Meister..?”She suddenly released a loud, aggravated groan, stamping her foot on the ground five times.“God this place makes me use my damn head so much it’s annoying.”

Arthur chuckled at her fiery temper, and decided that it didn’t really matter. Most of his people were female after all. It was the female humans who had wronged him. He was almost certain Akahana was one of his own, and by God he would not leave her behind. He would help this girl, one way or another. “By their standards I’m just a chainsaw…”

Arthur said chuckling.“A CHAINSAW?!” She almost screamed.“Change change! I wanna see! I wanna see!” She was suddenly extremely hyped up, her body shaking in excitement. She was extremely obsessed with weapons. She couldn’t help but pee herself-- well, not literally-- at something like a gigantic or well crafted sword. She mostly ignored the dingy weapons, but a chainsaw? Never has she actually SEEN one, but now she’s met someone who can CHANGE into one!

Arthur was taken aback by the sudden request, but decided to humor her. He turned into his weapon form, and fell to the floor, with a silent, “OW…”

She immediately went to grab him, though stopped himself.“Oh man, I almost grabbed you.” She said through her teeth, “...Oh boy.”Right then and there, she forgot all about Soul Rejection. What if he shocked her when she tried to hold him.“Uhh… I think i’ll just be…” She grabbed onto the handle slowly, easily picking him up, surprisingly no shock happened.A grin slowly snaked on her face before she started laughing, “D-d-damn you’re amazing!” She clearly couldn’t contain her excitement, “Double bladed too! Beautiful!”

Arthur felt himself easily merge with Akahana’s head space, and inadvertently let her see the world through his eyes, if only for a moment, as his 21 fairies fluttered into a safe place. He chuckled, and said, “Did you expect anything short of excellence from The King of Hearts?”

“You’re one hell of a King indeed..!” she did notice the fairies.. Were those his people? Probably, but she was too busy being mesmerized by his magnificence, his feel, his lightness, everything about him was perfect…“I have a full on reason to call you Your Highness now…” She said through a couple excited chuckles, “C-can you move your blades? I wanna hear the buzz...”

Arthur chuckled, and said, “As you wish, My Lady…” He started the blades, each going in a different direction, but buzzing in two perfectly harmonizing tones. He hadn’t been able to do this in a long time, and it felt really good to know the feeling of movement in the blades once again. He tried to hold back the urge to ask her to go find a small animal of some sort to kill so he could feel the blood splattered on them once again…. Sometimes his blood lust went a little too far...

She couldn’t help but feel humored by the loud, satisfying buzz of the blades as they so perfectly rotated.“You could cut through a thing like butter with how smooth they rotate!” She breathed out, feeling so satisfied, so happy with how amazing this felt, this spark of life she hadn’t felt in forever.“Damn I wish I could paint a town red with you…” She uttered the comment like it was completely normal.

Arthur smirked in the Headspace, before saying, “Red’s my favourite colour…” He felt a fire within him that he hadn’t felt sense Damsel had betrayed him. A sense of completion. He could do ANYTHING with Akahana! ANYTHING!!!

“I like seeing it splatter out of people.. Y’know?” She suddenly sat down against a wall, holding him on her lap.“Just a little secret between you and me…” She suddenly dropped into a whispering tone, leaning close to him, “I killed almost everyone in my hometown… Don’t worry, they were all horrible people, they deserved to go to hell. I was basically an angel of death for them.” She gently ran a finger down the stopped blades.“But dumbass daddy’s still alive… At this point, he’d be on Death’s list… I hope no one kills him before I do.”

Arthur whispered back, even though he was only in Headspace, “I’ll tell you one then… It’s only fair… I was put in a Mental Hospital for a long time… They weren’t nice to me at all… I killed one nurse who used to inappropriately examine me… They started shock therapy thanks to that…”

“What a horrible way to treat a king…” She cooed gently. At least he had his people with him…“You poor, poor, poor thing.” She gently stroked the smooth part of the blades as to comfort him in a weird sort of way, “At least you got back at that horrible witch of a woman, Your Highness.”

Arthur smiled in headspace, as he said, “You know… I’m not really comfortable around members of the Human female population, but you are different… I was wondering, My Lady Akahana, if you would consider being my partner? Deryn will probably never trust me again after what happened today… I almost strangled her….”

“Oh, what caused you to strangle her?” She asked, tilting her head, “Though i’d love to be your partner, you’re so perfect…” She gently sat him down next to her.

Arthur said, “I don’t really remember…” He changed back into his human form, sitting with Akahana. “I don’t remember much of anything about earlier today…”

“Too bad…” She grinned widely, “Would you like to see my face?” It sounded as if she was trying to slide off the topic, since he didn’t even remember it anyway. Something you don’t remember shouldn’t matter too much, right? Yeah.

Arthur smiled at her and nodded. “I’d like that…"

She nodded, pulling her hood down to reveal her rather nicely kept long brown hair. She then slowly slipped the mask up her face, to reveal one bandaged eye, while showing another brown intact one. Minus the bandage, dark hues under her eye, and pale-ish skin, she looked rather cute…

Arthur smiled at her, and said, “You’re like a painting… A work of art…”

“Nah. Not in a billion years. Trust me, i’m nothin’ to call cute or pretty. Especially under the bandage.” She chuckled feverishly.

Arthur said, “Well… I go by Shakespeare's definition of beauty… He wrote in Hamlet, ‘What a piece of work is man! How noble and intricate… How express and admirible… In action how like an angel… In being, How like a god! The Beauty of the world! The paragon of Animals…’”

She stared at him with a blank expression as he recited poetry. With being able to see her face, you could tell she had other thoughts running in her mind than poetry.“... I don’t know who this Shake-it-spear guy is, or anything you just said, but I understood none of it…”

Arthur laughed at the reaction, and said, “It’s just how I see the world… To me You’re beautiful… And this is coming from a guy with gynophobia... I think all creations have some level of beauty… Even if it can sometimes be improved by a Chainsaw to the heart…”

She stared blankly at him, “I’m not beautiful, I don’t understand why you say I am.” Her voice was trembling. “You hardly know me.” Her eye seemed awfully dull, as if she was having some recollection of rational thought in her mind. She then remained quiet for a while, before her face was directly in his. Laughter gently came from her exhales.“Ugly, beautiful, who gives a fuck…” She said, holding her face and moving away from him.

Arthur said, “Um… M-my lady… there is something that we may need to clear up before we begin an official partnership… I’m completely unattracted to the female form… it quite terrifies me really… And… Um… How do I put this… I’m… Well… Flamingly homosexual….”

“That can be arranged, Your Highness..” She said in a whispery tone, “I won’t even look at you if it makes you vomit… I just need something to hack things to pieces.” She pulled down on her eyelid a couple times, as if she was trying to mentally straighten something out.“I’d even cut my own tongue off if you wanted me to..”

Arthur laughed a little, before saying, “No, you’re just fine… I Just wanted to make sure you weren’t Homophobic, or thought I was coming on to you earlier…”

“I don’t give a shit about lovey dovey crap.” She stared at him rather hard… “It makes me ill to my stomach for people to get all kissy as fuck with each other in public… I just wanna see their guts splatter out on the floor in particular.”

“Very well then, My Lady…” Arthur said smirking, before standing up, and kneeling in front of her with a hand over his heart. “Then the King of Hearts is at your service!”

“You’re a king, I rather should be bowing to you than you to me..” She stated, doing so anyway.“It’ll be an honor to wield you…”

Arthur locked eyes with his new Meister and smirked devilishly. ‘Look out world your fucked!’

Skylar woke up to sun shining on his face. With a grunt he rose his hand in front of him, to see where he was. His eyes slowly got used to the light, and he looked around. A small grin appeared on his face when he saw where he was. It was the hill from where his monastery was, in full spring as it seemed. Oddly enough, he felt happy. Something sure was missing, but for the time being, Skylar did not care.

On the bed, Skylar stood motionless, the only sound came from the machine. His skin felt cold, but his face seemed at peace. Back in the dream, Skylar ran to the monastery, to seek his adopted family. As he slowly draws close to the monastery, small ashes could be seen, growing more by the minute. Breaking into a sprint, Skylar opens the door to the monastery, only to see it covered in flames.

Skylar's heart rate starts to grow, and his hand moves, frowning slightly and groaning. Inside the monastery, things seem eerie. The flames are blazing, but people smile and sing, some children still run around, engulfed in flames, giggling. Skylar sees the abbess and rushes to ask her what is happening, but the same eerie voice as in the cave could be heard, and he can't speak. On the hospital bed, as his heart rate continues to grow, he mumbles. "H-Help... H-Help..."

Demetri Voclain, Ivy Landvik and Kassana Silverstream

The sun was shining, birds were chirping and Ivy was angry. It was a perfectly normal day at the DWMA. Except for the part where people were celebrating beating a psychotic killer smiling dog with ice cream.

“I can’t believe I missed out on beating up an insane dog.” Ivy pouted. “AND I missed out on beating Xander some more. Today sucks.”

“Sucks for you maybe.” Demetri replied. “At least there’s free food.”

“You’re family's rich Demetri; why do you care about free food?” Ivy grumbled.

“Um, well I kind of ran away from home… with you… remember?”

“I know, I’m just messing with you.” Ivy answered. “Now come on, I bet I can intimidate some people so that we can cut in line for ice cream.”

As Ivy and Demetri walked into the courtyard where most of the student body had gathered, they would realize it really wasn’t an unusual sight for the school they attended. For any other place, yes, it just might have been labeled rather odd. Jayce was sitting on a picnic table beneath a tree near another table where Warren was busy bragging to some girl or other. Somewhere off to the side, they could hear the buzzing of something loud and obnoxious although it was around the corner and thus remained unseen. There was a blob of ice cream on the ground in front of Xander, the boy who was still cradling an ice pack against his cheek that was swollen; it almost looked as though he had deliberately chucked the ice cream at his own feet, in fact.

Aside from all the oddities, little groups had begun to carry on their own conversations regarding their own little things. Aiko still looked injured from her adventures in battle against Keziah and Grace that morning although she was still in one piece and still clearly doing just fine. Professor Parson, the NOT instructor, was making the rounds. And then standing nearer to the table lined with ice cream bins, there stood the now familiar faces of Lexie, Aeryn and Kassana.

Ivy was sad that there was no one to intimidate to get a better spot in line, but her and Demetri quickly filled up on ice cream and headed over to the three people who wouldn’t be either angry/afraid to see them.

“I can’t believe you got to hit Xander and I wasn’t there to see it,” Ivy complained to Aeryn.

“Hey Kassana.” Demetri greeted good naturedly. “Ignore my blood thirsty meister. How are you guys doing?”

“Oh, hi Demetri,” Kassana replied softly as she took another sip of her now ice-cream chilled coffee. Her eyes flickered between Aeryn and Lexie as she considered the question before she added, “I think we’re having fun? Aeryn gets to stay. I’m not quite sure why he wouldn’t have stayed, but I’m excited that I get to stay partnered with him. He’s not nearly as annoying as Vanille was...” Kassana trailed off, lost in thought for a moment before she realized what she actually had just said and her hand clamped over her own mouth. “That was a bad thing to say, wasn’t it?” Concern flooded her voice now.

“Don’t worry about it.” Demetri told her. “I never have much patience for annoying people. Having a meister that gets on your nerves sucks.”

Overhearing her weapon partner’s conversation, Ivy interjected, “Arug, thinking of annoying people makes me think of Warren.” Ivy complained, looking over at the weapon in question. “He’s talking about how ‘great’ he is again. I want to hit him again.”

“I won’t stop you.” Demetri took another bite of his ice cream. “But you’re the one that has to deal with Lord Death if he catches you.”

Kassana watched Ivy, wondering if she would actually walk right up to Warren and punch him in the middle of a social event. She wasn’t quite sure if that was an ok thing to do, but it didn’t really matter because it was also while she was watching Ivy that Kassana remembered something. “Ivy!” she said, rather loudly for her although it was still nothing compared to the volume of anyone else there.

“Hmm?” Ivy turned to the shorter girl.

“Um…” Kassana didn’t quite know how to start what she wanted to say. “Well… you see… I… I want to get stronger and I was wondering if maybe… maybe you might be willing to train me? I know I’m not much,” she glanced down at her own extremely petite figure, “but I’ll try really hard.”

“Huh.” Ivy looked Kassana up and down, like a jockey appraising over a new horse. “I do like training people… but I’m warning you, training with me isn’t a walk in the park. I will put you through hell. Do you still want to do it?”

Kassana looked hesitantly back and forth between Ivy and Demetri, glancing once at Aeryn as well. She had a promise to fulfill. She said she would be a hero and she had to keep that promise. She had to get stronger and even as her gaze turned back to Ivy, she knew that there was no one better to help her get there than the berserker herself. Gulping, Kassana nodded. “I want to get stronger. I know it’ll be hard, but I… I really want to do it.”

A gigantic grin spread over Ivy’s face and she slapped Kassana on the back hard enough to cause her to stagger for a moment before stumbling forward into Aeryn. “I like your spunk kid. We’ll see how long that lasts. I expect you at school at six am or you’ll do double the workout I have planned for you.”

“I’m so sorry.” Demetri said to Kassana.

“No need to say that Demetri. I expect to see you there too.” Ivy slapped her weapon on the back with the same amount of force. “Kassana’s gotta have a training buddy after all.”

“Kill me now.” Demetri mumbled, eating his ice cream forlornly.

“He shouldn’t have had to fight the madness alone…” Jessyka mumbled in reply to Deryn. “I should’ve been able to protect him better. I should’ve known that he was in trouble before we even went inside…” It was her problem now, and something she would have to learn to live with although even Jessyka wasn’t sure if she could.

However, despite her rather depressed demeanor, Jessyka did perk up when Nadia finally emerged with her partner, claiming that he was still intact. Thank god! Jessyka couldn’t contain her sigh of relief. Without needing any further prompting, Jessyka sprung out of the bed and gently sat herself on the side of Skyler’s bed although she heard the remainder of what Deryn had had to say. “Yes, I guess,” she said more to herself than to anyone else as she let her hand rest on Skyler’s.

It only sat there for a moment; too much more would have been too much for her even given the situation, but it was enough that hopefully, he would feel it. The slightest presence of her soul inside his own, the smallest flicker of comfort and concern. “Soon the world will be in order again,” Jessyka whispered, sending her voice into the soul of her partner, “albeit with more scars.”

However, things happened then that made it seem like it really wouldn’t be so easy. The monitor’s constant beeping - something she had been more than able to drown out at first - accelerated fast and concern flooded its way into the serenity that had contained Jessyka’s expression. She heard Skyler’s lucid whispers and Jessyka couldn’t take it anymore.

The meister stood up suddenly and stormed out of the dispensary, unable to sit and merely watch what was going on anymore. Unseen to those who had watched her abrupt and silent exit, Jessyka was crying. Jessyka was crying because there was nothing she could do.

Aoi Asuka

Aoi let a breath of air go as the day was actually starting to get normal again, relaxing a bit as the Ice Cream Social was finally taking place. It was a little odd that they were still going to have one after the chaos that happened earlier today. He honestly would have forgotten all about it, if it wasn't reminded to him by Undine's humorous comments on hoping for a ice cream social during the not-so-perfectly planned day. Ponytails walked on the trail back to DWMA, he made more than a passing glance at the morgue before continuing to follow the others, lagging a little behind because of his staring. He tried to suppress most of those memories into the back of his mind, focusing more of the Ice Cream Social.

The blue-haired weapon stepped back into the DWMA, a little less 'mad' than before. He glanced at the flavors that they had that
weren't liquefied yet, "Cookie Dough,No wait, Blueberry, Vanilla?, " Aoi being more than a little indecisive on the smallest thing he ever had to do today - picking a Ice Cream Flavor. The person giving out the ice cream was running out patience for Ponytails inability to pick a ice cream flavor and have him a scoop of blueberry to get it over with and letting the next person get their ice cream. "Sorry, for holding up the line, Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, Sorry.." He said continuing for a total of 58 times and with the ice cream in his hand half melting. Thus, Aoi was drinking Blueberry Ice Cream soup.

After finishing his ice cream, he was already clinging to who he already knew as he wandered around looking for Undine when he found the male who they asked to pick up the teacher's corpse. He wasn't keen on bringing that topic up again, although he wanted to apologize for his meister asking him to pick the body up. Aoi ended up with resisting his apologetic instincts for once.
"A victory at last.." He briefly commented to himself as he saw his meister eating what was probably her fourth or fifth scoop of ice cream, "You are going to get a cold if you keep eating that you know.." He said again, commenting on her eating habits.

"I didn't actually hit him," Aeryn replied to Ivy, "I just made him regret what he said."

He let his eyes dart away from Ivy, whom had his attention for a moment, to Lexie. He wondered just what he could say. He didn't intent on being spiteful whatsoever; he was still of course her brother. Aeryn came from a time when that alone meant that regardless of what he done, they were still family. Aeryn couldn't remember his own family for the life of him, but he was sure Lexie wouldn't just allow him to trashtalk her brother if they were to date. Not that he would anyway, but he felt somewhat urged to avoid talking about him regardless. For this reason, he was curious as to how Lexie would react to his reply.

Right after that, Kassana managed to surprise even Aeryn. Maybe he had given her just the right kick to involve herself? Although it did seem odd she reached out to Ivy, it nonetheless was interesting. She wanted to train. Aeryn knew a little bit about Ivy. Very few students stood out to him and even fewer had Death ever openly discussed, but Ivy was one of them. Apparently, she was one of the strongest students at the DWMA using a Berserk Rage and intense training. A Three Star Meister already, and she hadn't even graduated. In fact, she was the same age as Aeryn. A fact that Aeryn himself found particularly frustrating. He didn't know too much else about her, but he was nevertheless interested in the dynamic between her and Kassana. Not only that, she might be of use to learn from as well.

"I don't know too many students aside from you guys," Aeryn said, "but, I do know that you're quite the local celebrity, Ivy. One of the more prominent students. Even the other three stars don't precisely challenge you openly. The thing is, I'm not a three star. I don't even know what I am until I get an ID later. What I do know is that I most definitely want to test the gap between us. I most definitely don't intend for it to exist too long, Ivy. It may just become my goal to surpass you by the end of this upcoming year." He returned his focus to Ivy, letting his own green eyes peer right through his bangs. He even let a smirk crawl up his cheek before adding, "Whaddya say?"

As the young male cleaned, Keanehan had decided it best to attend to the Ice cream social that was being held by Lord Death. Although, saying that he decided on the matter would be acting as if he had a choice in going. Lord Death had made it a point to remind him over and over again, that this get together was happening. While Keanehan was rather poor at making nice with others, that didn't mean he was one who couldn't take a hint when given one. That being said, he was more than aware that Lord Death sought to make Keane take a more active role in finding a partner, and what better way than forcing social interaction upon the young lad?

As the dual-colored male was finishing up his cleaning, he had returned the pleasantry given to him by Nadia. In return he bowed, "Thank you miss, but you needn't thank me." He looked and paused for a moment. "Madam, if you've no further need of me...I'll be attending the ice cream social." He then turned to Deryn. "If you would like, I could retrieve your preferred flavor."

"Oh- uh." Deryn paused, surprised that someone was actually going to be kind enough to go out of their way for her. "I prefer mint chocolate chip, but normal chocolate is also fine."

In a moment, the partner of the boy, who was now resting, had stormed out. She looked Distraught, but there was little Keanehan could say to her that would make her feel better. He could not empathize nor could he sympathize.

Keane nodded at Deryn and walked to the door. "I hope that other fellow makes a speedy recovery." He mumbled before walking out of the door and heading down the hall.

Walking alone now, he was able to take out his pocket watch. It was an old, white gold pocket watch that held some form of sentimental value to the version of himself that could remember why it was significant. When looking at it, from time to time, Keanehan received flashes of an older gentleman handing it to him, but had no formal memory of who this person could be. 'Was that my father?' He asked himself internally, as he stared down a the old ticker.

As he walked his scarf slowly came undone and he made quick movements to tie it back tightly. Even though it wasn't particularly cold out the amber haired young man made it a point to keep his scarf on at all times. It was almost like a safety blanket for him. The memory associated with it was that of a beautiful woman in a flowing black dress. He knew not who she was, but this was most certainly hers. 'Mother...?' While there was certainly a sentimental reason behind the scarf, there was also a more practical reason. Lord Death had asked him to keep the scars on his body hidden from the student body.

To further the secrecy he went so far as to wear robes rather than standard wear. As Keanehan walked the halls toward the Ice cream social he pawed at his scarf and watch. These actions made his eyes glimmer in their respective hues for an instant. "Why....do I feel nothing...for these memories...?" He asked absentmindedly as he passed by the new found partners.

Making his way outside, Keanehan immediately went to the ice cream. He weaved between everyone and eventually found himself in front of the mint chocolate chip. "Four scoops should suffice." As he scooped them in the bowl he had found earlier, his eyes fell upon a girl who sat on a nearby bench. Giving thought to what Death had asked him to do, he decided to sit with the girl.

Upon sitting next to her he turned to her. "Do you not wish to enjoy the festivities?" His eyes sank into her with little movement. Keanehan, lacking the social prowess of a teenager had overlooked that she was visibly distraught. Evening Star's performance and inclusion of her had put her on edge. "Is something the matter, miss?"

Dakota's quiet observing continued, until a boy seemed to approach her. She blinked and turned her head to look at him as he moved over to her a smile plastered on his face, something that suddenly made her very scared. In her mind, someone approaching with a smile usually meant she was about to be pulled into a conversation she would rather not have. He soon proved her fears correct.

The smiling male before her began to speak, though not exactly quietly. It seemed as if he was trying to talk to more people than just her, and she found herself acutely aware of everyone else in the area all of a sudden. She wasn't one for interaction of any kind, especially with extremely loud people, and seeing as that was now what she was faced with, her brain began to slowly shift into panic mode.

“Hey there young miss! Whatcha sitting all alone over here for? That’s certainly not the best plan when you could be meeting the great Evening Star, soon to become the next Death Scythe!”

Dakota's mental break down continued, her hands subtly shaking as she stuffed them out of sight. She stayed silent, staring at the boy who had just proclaimed himself to be 'Evening Star', silently panicking at the sudden interaction, even more so when he put a hand to his mouth and whispered about that being him.
'Say something. Speak. Talk. Make noise. Talk!' were the words repeating in her mind, once she finally realized it was rude to just sit there.

Finally, she forced herself to talk, nevertheless stuttering greatly.
"T-t-t-t-that's c-c-c-cool... N-nice t-to m-meet y-y-you..." She stumbled and stuttered over the words, then quickly shifted her gaze away. Her mental panic attack continued, and grew as she had just made herself look like a stumbling, bumbling idiot who couldn't talk. However, her failure to speak correctly most likely answered his question on why she had been sitting alone.

Alexis “Lexie” Traynor

Lexie smiled when Ivy and Demetri came to join them. They had always been nice enough to her although they certainly were not at all fond of her brother, something which she was always trying to change. She clearly had not had much success in that area.

“I can’t believe you got to hit Xander and I wasn’t there to see it.”

Lexie flinched ever so slightly at the comment, saddened by the fact that Ivy seemed to enjoy beating up her brother on a regular basis. Sure, Xander could be a jerk, but that didn’t give Ivy a right to enjoy punching him over and over again. In fact, Lexie knew that Ivy didn’t even have to punch him some of the times that she did. Lexie had seen Ivy in action; Ivy could just as easily restrain Xander during some of their encounters.

Thinking about her brother, Lexie’s eyes trailed over to where he sat, still glaring, with the only added addition being that the cone was now splattered over the ground. He used to love chocolate… Lexie sighed briefly although she heard Aeryn’s reply and her attention turned back to the conversation that was nearest to her.

"I didn't actually hit him. I just made him regret what he said."

Lexie briefly replayed the scene as it had happened in her mind because Aeryn’s words confused her at first. True, he had never actually hit her brother, but he had caused him some considerable pain from what Lexie could tell. It wasn’t often that Lexie had actually seen her brother using an ice pack. Her expression was uncomfortable at best although when she noticed Aeryn’s eyes turn to her for a moment, Lexie tried to smile at him, giving his hand an acknowledging squeeze although her smile wasn’t quite as bright. She didn’t like the conversation at hand.

However, the conversation quickly turned away from the conversation at hand, which at first, Lexie was grateful for. However, it didn’t remain that way for long when Aeryn proceeded to challenge Ivy. She supposed that even she knew better than to expect that a boy who happened to like her would also like getting himself into fights. “Please be careful,” Lexie finally said. “I’ve seen people emerge from fights with Ivy with more than a swollen lip.” Her gaze flickered to the still remnant mark from where Xander had punched Aeryn earlier.

However, after her gaze dwelled for a moment, Lexie did become more cheerful as she continued, “Although I suppose it is the way for you meisters. Always fighting, always training. I think that’s a life I’d rather stay out of, for now.” Her gaze flickered to Kassana and Demetri. “I do give you credit for putting in the effort, but as long as I can be a useful weapon, that’s completely fine with me.”

Deryn Renoir and Nadia Voltaren

Location: DispensaryNadia smiled up at Deryn as the girl walked over. She really was a delightful young girl and it made Nadia all the more frustrated that something like this had had to happen to her. She still didn’t quite understand why Lord Death had insisted on sending them all as certainly they hadn’t all been needed. She was beyond arguing now, though, so instead she pulled over a circular chair that was unlike her own in that the one she offered to Deryn did not have wheels on the bottom. “Take a seat, dear,” Nadia gestured. “I’ve just gotta check for brain damage. From the way you’re moving around, I’d like to say you’re fine, but I’d rather be safe.”

“That makes enough sense, I guess”
Deryn replied, taking a seat. “If I might ask, what’s the chance of Arthur making a full recovery? His hand is going to be ok, I hope. I’d hate to see him crippled because of that dog.” She had a lot of questions involving the boy who had been her partner for the mission, and she wondered if there was any chance of that partnership continuing. She wasn’t sure she could wield the boy (she never really had been), but maybe they had a chance, if either of them recovered from the emotional trauma of the day.

“I was intending to go find him later,” Nadia answered, “so that I could take a look at it for myself. No point in restraining him when I won’t be able to get to him for a while, but Keane does a good job taking care of everyone here. There’s a reason why I let him stick around.” Nadia considered the girl for a moment before she began shuffling through a bin of tools and pulled out a blood pressure cuff and began applying it to the girl’s wrist before she continued, “I’m sure Keane would have let me know if it was anything we wouldn’t be able to work with.”

“Oh. That’s good. I figured he was made of something sturdy. Unlike myself. My first mission and I’m already being screened for a concussion, and it’s all my own fault. It’s a rather encouraging thing to meditate on.” Deryn replied with a grimace, extending her arm as the cuff was applied.

“You’ll learn quick,” Nadia tried to be encouraging as she pumped up the blood pressure cuff while sliding the earpieces of her stethoscope on to listen for blood pressure. The whole process was quick because Nadia had done it a thousand times and she smiled at Deryn when she pulled the earpieces out and released the air. “Blood pressure’s normal.”

Without further remark, Nadia’s hand slid down to Deryn’s radial pulse. Although her fingertips may have been cold, it wasn’t terrible. Her eyes focused on her watch as mentally she counted before she jotted down both the blood pressure and the pulse on a sheet of paper.

Afterwards, Nadia held out both of her hands to Deryn and requested, “Can you squeeze both my hands as hard as you can?”

“Uh- yeah.” Deryn’s thin fingers wrapped around Nadia’s and squeezed, putting as much effort in as she could. She didn’t feel like her grip was lessened by what had happened today. “May I ask what the point of this is? I hope I’m not hurting you.”

Nadia giggled slightly. “Don’t worry about it,” she stated. “This is just check nervous system function. If you had brain damage, that could show in muscle movements.”

Deryn blushed slightly as Nadia giggled. What had she said? She made a mental note not to ask anymore silly questions.

Reaching into her pocket, Nadia pulled out a penlight and clicked it although she said before she shined it in Deryn’s eyes, “Look at my nose.” Then she brought the light up and shined it in both of Deryn’s eyes, watching for the pupilary reflex in the other eye.

“Well, everything checks out alright here,”
Nadia smiled, putting a check mark at the bottom of her sheet. “I would say you’re clear to go for now. Come back in about two days and I can remove the head dressing and check to make sure everything’s healing alright and make sure you give me a call if your headache worsens or if you have any nausea or vomiting.”

Deryn hopped out of her chair, smoothing the fabric of her uniform. It certainly looked worse for wear, she realized. How had she not noticed it before? “Thank you! Do you know if the Ice Cream Social is still in progress? Keane said he would save me some ice cream, but I would like to actually experience the ‘social’ part, if time permits.” She was already walking towards the door, noticing as she opened it that Arthur had already left. Guess he didn't care enough to stick around. She tried not to let it bother her.

“I’m sure plenty of students stuck around. It’s not too often Lord Death offers them free ice cream, now is it?” Nadia replied. “Although do be careful. I’m sure you’ve learned by now that some of our students can be a bit… rambunctious.”

“I’ll try my best. Thank you again.” With a short nod, Deryn left the room and headed towards the ice cream social, hopefully to obtain her bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream from Keane.

Warren Langston and Ivy Landvik and Demetri Voclain

The Great Evening Star

Warren listened as Dakota stuttered in reply before he himself started laughing. “It’s ok! I get it! You’re just too overwhelmed to be around someone as great as me, right!?” Turning around, Warren noted that another guy walked up and Warren turned to greet him as well, the same big smile and the same overly exuberant voice. “Hello! Have you come to meet the great Evening Star!?” This time, Warren had no subtleties in displaying to the world that he was referring to himself.

Wondering if he would have to wait as long for a reply this time - since it certainly had taken Dakota a while to say anything - Warren’s attention perked up as he heard his name shouted out and his eyebrows raised at first. Then they fell on the hulk; at least, that was what he called the green rage monster who everyone else named Ivy.

Turning back to Dakota, he gave her one quick pat on the back and said to her, “Don’t worry. You’ll do fine. It’ll be easier without the great Evening Star around,” he proclaimed before he marched off, eager to find out why it was that someone was yelling his name while also failing to announce his greatness.

Accepting a Challenge

Ivy looked over at Aeryn and smirked.“It’s nice to finally met someone with some backbone in this place. I’m always looking for strong sparring partners but most of the students are too scared to face me.”

“Geez, I wonder why?” Demetri commented sarcastically.

“They’re all just a bunch of wimps.” Ivy scoffed. “My point is it’s hard to find worthy rivals in this place anymore. So just give me a time and a place, and I’d gladly pound your face into the dirt.”

Demetri sighed and turned to Aeryn. “I hope you're a decent fighter, because Ivy doesn't understand the concept of ‘holding back’. Also, don’t call her a celebrity, you’ll just inflate her ego more.”

“I can’t help the fact that I’m one of the strongest meisters in the entire academy.” Ivy preened, a cocky grin spreading across her face. Demetri smiled at his meisters confident tone. He may jokingly have tried to push her off her pedestal, but he couldn’t deny that he had an excellent meister and he was incredibly proud of the progress they had made together.

The Face of Disgust

“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!” the loud and entirely obnoxious voice of Warren Langston entered into the conversation.
f0db1fbf6a0a22e9f0831070a428080cfb28322f
“Who is challenging who here?” His eyebrows raised as they flickered among the group that he had just barged in on, quite literally shoving his way into the little circle right between Ivy and Demetri.

In sync, Ivy and Demetri’s faces become the epitome of disgust. “It’s none of your business shit for brains.” Ivy told him. “And don’t worry, I’m not challenging you. If I did you’d be in the hospital right now.”

“Now if you could kindly fuck off.” Demetri shooed Warren. “Because nobody wants you here right now.”

“Hey, hey, hey!” Warren strongly objected. “I heard a challenge and if anyone fights anyone, they need the future death scythe of the WORLD at their side. I’m just trying to make sure everyone gets that opportunity.”

“I’d rather wield a stick then use you in a fight.” Ivy scoffed. “The stick would be more useful than you’d ever be.”

“Ouch…” Warren said in mock depression. “That really hurts me…” Again, it was obvious that he didn’t really mean it. He quickly turned his attention away from Ivy and focused on the redhead and the two girls as he moved on, “Anyway, ignoring the hulk over here, I’m the Great Evening Star. I’m sure you’ve heard of me and if not, you’re in for a great year because you get to be in class with ME!”

“Alright, I am DONE with listening to this IDIOT!” Ivy growled. She hit Warren in the back of the head with enough force to knock him out. Warren crumpled to the ground to Ivy’s satisfaction.

“Thank God.” Demetri sighed. “What took you so long Ivy?”

“Sorry about that.” Ivy grabbed Warren by the back of his shirt collar, and dragged him over to a bench. She effortlessly lifted him up and dumped him on the bench. She came back to the group looking very pleased with herself. “Alright, where were we?”

"I believe we were picking a time for our duel," Aeryn replied to Ivy. He was beginning to grow somewhat frustrated with Warren. He recalled how Warren didn't even believe that the Witch was a Witch and that he just rushed forward blindly. While other students would use plenty of colorful words to describe Warren, Aeryn considered him tactically challenge and a definite liability. Not someone he would ideally be paired with in a group. Unfortunately, Aeryn thought, it was for that exact reason he was sure someone like him would teamed up with Warren if he ever found a Meister. People like him needed nannies. Unless his next Meister would be one for him. Did Ivy have a sister?

Prior to his reply, he watched as Ivy trounced Warren. He took this brief intermission to squeeze Lexie's hand again, but this time, establish their link. It wasn't strong. It was more like telepathic texting than it was a true bond like his with Kassana.
'I don't believe you like it when people speak ill of your brother. I saw it in your face. If it bothers you, I will avoid it. I'm far more interested in your pretty smile anyway. How about you show me one?' Aeryn said from within a little mind message. He really just wanted to see her smile again, but he hoped a nice message along with it would cheer her up.

Back to the present, Aeryn continued his reply to Ivy,
"I do have a date tomorrow and I believe you're training Kassana before that. I would like to keep this pretty face in good shape for that date, so why not the day after? But, I won't hold back from bruising yours, either. I'm sure Demetri would just be so upset." Aeryn smirked again as he said his last line. He played on the fact Demetri seemed to have a unique relationship with Ivy, and he thought that line would stir something up. "Besides, if you don't train with someone who can give you a good wallop, you'll get nothing out of it. Train with people weaker, you'll only let your edge dull. Train with people your level, and you'll hone your skills. But, train with someone stronger, and you'll be like tempered steel on the battlefield. By the end of this year, I do intend to the flame that tempers you, Ivy."

Alexis “Lexie” Traynor

The first time, it had surprised her - to hear Aeryn’s voice inside her own mind - but the second time, Lexie was not quite as overwhelmed by the fact that it was possible. That still didn’t mean she was expecting it, by any means, but she wasn’t quite as shocked when it did happen again.

Aeryn’s statement, overall, was correct. She didn’t like it when people spoke ill of her brother. To her, it was the same as it would be if someone spoke ill of Aeryn in front of her, and actually, talking poorly about her brother was almost worse even than that. It was simply that Lexie had spent a lifetime with Xander and it was hard for her to just forget the times where he had been like a brother to her.

‘It’s just… he used to be kind. He would have always been there for me when I got sad about mom and he used to love chocolate ice cream,’ Lexie began defending herself to Aeryn although she struggled to get the words across clearly. It wasn’t that she didn’t know how to utilize the connection that existed between a weapon and a meister; it was that it wasn’t something she had a lot of practice with. ‘He’ll always be my brother, and I can’t change that.’

It wasn’t that she didn’t hear the rest of what Aeryn had said - that if she was uncomfortable with people talking about her brother, he would avoid it. She did hear that part too. She just felt the need to offer some explanation since no one seemed to understand her relationship with Alexander. And as she was standing there with her hand in his, she did fully intend to flash him a smile afterwards, although her attention was entirely distracted by the sight of Ivy dragging away an unconscious Warren as her face crinkled.

Sure, she had seen things happen in fights and she had seen Ivy in action for, but that still didn’t mean she thought it was right on any account for Ivy to just start knocking people out in the middle of what was supposed to be a ‘social’ event. Even Lexie understood Ivy and Demetri’s annoyance at the boy, but that still didn’t make it right. Although it seemed that Aeryn didn’t mind as he continued right on with his conversation with Ivy. Letting him finish before she added in, Lexie sighed, “Was it really necessary to knock the poor kid unconscious, Ivy? I mean, yes, he’s an idiot, but this is supposed to be fun.” Blinking hesitantly, Lexie realized that knocking Warren out probably was fun for Ivy and so she added, “And although you may have had a blast just now, I’m sure Warren didn’t.”

“And you,” she turned to Aeryn, poking him gently in the chest with her free to emphasise that she was talking to him now, “need to remember to be careful.” The rest of her statement was to Aeryn alone. ‘I’m hoping tomorrow’s not the only day you’re face will need to be in pretty good shape.’ And it was with that thought in mind that Lexie finally managed the smile he so longed for, blood flooding into her cheeks to add the color that so greatly complimented her eyes.

Daemon Alexanders and Zyra Harriot

Location: Dispensary

Daemon winced as the needle went in and out of his arm, but didn't dare move. If he wanted to use this arm again and be able to fight, he would need it. Sure, he could learn to use his other hand, but that would be too difficult, and it would be strange once he learned, he knew it. So he just silently sat as the boy, Keanehan, patched him up. He looked towards the door of the dispensary, wondering when Zyra would return. He had nearly blacked out back at the lab, and when he had come to his senses, she had been carrying him on her back as if he were a baby. She had put him down when he told her to, and used her for some support in case he blacked out again on the way back.

He sighed quietly. If he always had to rely on Zyra, then maybe he had to keep pushing himself in fights until he could hold his own. He didn't like bothering his partner.

As the bandage and gauze was applied, Daemon frowned, mumbling under his breath. "Stupid puppy...not nice..." When it was all done, Daemon gingerly moved his arm to lay on his lap, making sure to put more weight on his healthy arm as he leaned forwards. He grinned widely at Keanehan. "Thanks! I didn't mean to trouble you." He very softly rolled his shoulder. "To be honest, I was just going to let it heal on it's own, but Zyra would have torn me a new one if I didn't get it checked." He moved his other hand, making large cutting motions. He then turned to the boy. "Should I just wait here for Ms. Nadia? Or do I come back? I heard there was ice cream. I'm pretty hungry."

Right on cue, his stomach growled loudly, and he groaned. "
See?! I'm hungry! And it can only be quenched by the sweet taste of strawberry ice cream!" He grinned, his mouth watering as he thought of the sweet treat.

But Keanehan was already walking away, so Daemon just shut his mouth, sitting up straight and looking down at the floor, avoiding looking at anyone else in the room with him. He didn't want to bother them.

But he listened. He heard Jessyka talking to Deryn, and frowned. '
Maybe...I can make Skyler something to feel better! A cake...or a pie. That could make Jessyka feel better, too!' His smile reappeared, and he began giggling to himself, sounding like a madman.

@Violet Obsidian @The Succubi Queen

Location: Ice Cream Social

Zyra quickly walked through the hallway, heading towards the ice cream social. As much as she knew that she should check on Daemon, she knew his first complaint when she came back would be about food. And if there was an ice cream party going on, he would try to break out to try and find something. She sighed, not wanting to have to deal with angry cafeteria workers, or store owners who have a problematic boy breaking in and taking food for himself without paying. He truly was a handful.

As she entered the room where the ice cream social was taking place, she looked around. She had of course stopped at home and left her cloak there to wash, which was normal after a mission. But she would always wash it and bring it back to school as soon as possible. Without it, she felt...naked. Of course, she was wearing a white dress that reached bast her knees, and her hair was not held up like usual under her hood, so it flowed down towards her shoulder blades in blonde streaks. She wore flats on her feet instead of platform shoes, which made her seem shorter than usual, but she didn't care about her height. She was intimidating enough with her piercing blue gaze, like ice daggers.

She weaved her way through multiple students, ignoring a few hellos and some inquiries about how she was. She found her way to a table where the ice cream was, and grabbed two cones, filling one up with strawberry ice cream, and another with peanut-butter ice cream. '
Two...no, three scoops. That should make him feel better.' As she turned around, ice cream in hand, she took one more look around the room, frowning at eyes that looked over her, some in a look of surprise.

As she made her way out, she saw some students chatting. Well, all but one, who was unconscious. She recognized Aeryn, another EAT student and meister, as well as three other students she recognized the faces of, but not the names of. She frowned, before walking over to them.

When she was close enough, she looked down at the boy who was unconscious on the floor, bending forwards very slightly. "
I really don't mean to interrupt you all, but don't you think that you should bring..." She bent down more to get a better look at his face, and then realized who it was. She frowned, before looking back at the students. "Nevermind."

She looked between the students, having overheard some of what had been said before. "
You all are having a duel? Sparring match? Whatever you want to call it?" She smiled very lightly. "I don't mean to jump into your conversation, but I just had my interest peaked." She bowed quickly. "I'm Zyra Harriot, EAT student. Weapon partner of Daemon Alexanders. That's...pretty much the only title I have, I guess."

'
Maybe the Little Red Killer, but that may not be a good first introduction...' She quickly pushed her thought out of her head and looked to Aeryn, who was holding the hand of a girl with brown hair redder than Daemons.

Zyra paused for a moment, staring through Aeryn. '
Why am I even talking to these people? They aren't important in my life. No one is but Daemon. Maybe...' She shook her head, focusing back on what was in front of her. "Sorry, sorry. I zoned out for a moment. Anyways, I was hoping that I could ask you, Aeryn, if Daemon could go with you to your fight? I'm assuming he's pretty down in the dumps, and maybe seeing a good fight would make him feel a bit better." She held up a hand quickly. "Not saying he's some sort of sadist who likes seeing people get hurt. But he likes seeing fights. Learning stuff. If you would rather him not, that's fine. He's just..." She frowned, looking down at the floor. "Something's wrong with him. I don't know what. But there is. He usually has boundless energy, but on the way back from the mission...he's been hurt before, and always had that same hyper personality. But he was quiet on the way home."

She shook her head, realizing she was allowing herself to get emotional. She put her stone-face mask back on, looking at him. "
Anyways..." She quickly began licking her ice cream, turning around and looking over the other students and teachers at the social. 'Damn, Zyra. You are one unsocial freak...'

She quickly stepped forward, stepping on top of Warren and then going through the students, heading towards the door. "
Well...I should go check on Daemon!" She briskly went out the door.

In the hallway, heading towards the dispensary, Zyra saw Jessyka, who was...crying. Zyra frowned, making her way to the girl. As she approached, Zyra put a small zip in her step. "
Jessyka! Hey, Jessyka, are you okay?" Once she caught up to the girl, the blonde tilted her head. "Okay, dumb question. You're crying. I'm guessing it's Skyler, right?" Zyra, though having been more worried about Daemon, knew about Skyler's tragedy at the lab. Zyra held out her ice cream cone. "Want a lick? I...only licked the other side. But not a lot." Inside her head, she groaned again. 'Zyra, you useless..."

Jessyka just wanted to run away from everything. She wanted to go hide and pretend that nothing had happened that day; she wanted to storm out of the DWMA and go home to her apartment and lay down in bed only to wake up and realize all of it had been a terrible nightmare. That was what she wanted to do, but as soon as Jessyka heard Zyra behind her, that wasn’t quite possible anymore.

Turning to face the other girl, Jessyka struggled to stop her tears enough to the point where she could talk before she finally managed to spit out the reply without choking. “Yeah, I’ll be ok,” she muttered, although it was clearly a lie. She was still struggling with tears and her voice was void of all emotion. “Smoky… I… he… it’s all my fault. I’m a stupid terrible meister who brought her partner into a situation when he already wasn’t acting like himself. I should’ve noticed. I should’ve done something.”

Jessyka sniffed as she brushed her sleeves underneath her eyes, trying to wipe away the salty drops that fell from them although more kept coming so it was useless to try. “And now I can’t even sit with him… I’m a terrible partner! My weapon just came out of surgery and I can’t even sit and hold his hand.” The more she berated herself, the more frustrated she became and Jessyka quickly realized this.

“I’m sorry… you probably don’t want to listen to me whine this whole time.” Her eyes looked down, noting the ice cream that Zyra had offered her although she shook her head. “No thank you.”

A Dream… Or is it a Nightmare?

The ashes were now turning to whole chunks of burning wood falling from the monastery, and the heat intensified with each passing minute, all the while the same voice repeating an almost eerie incantation that didn’t quite seem to have words; at least, they weren’t words that Skyler understood in any manner of the sense. It sounded like a foreign language - there were words to it - but they weren’t understandable. Even without understanding, though, the repetition of them was obvious and the tone of them haunting, chilling to the bone.

Yet even in that deadness of the sea of sound, Skyler would hear something, and this one he definitely would understand. “Soon the world will be in order again, albeit with more scars.” The sound of it was quiet, very nearly drowned out by the eerie voice that repeated, gradually growing louder and faster as it went on, going from incantation to song. But the voice he could understand seemed to reach into his very core, as well. Even if Skyler couldn’t hear it, he most certainly felt it.

Skyler stopped, hearing the faint yet clear voice. He remembered it, but he could not really say who it was. He tried to remember, but the only thing he did was stay in place, and let the smoke choke him. A few coughs, and he snapped back to his reality, seeing the abbess standing there. "Mother, help!" He yelled , putting his hand on her shoulder. The abbess slowly turned around, only to flash her pleasant smile, but this time, the smile gave Skyler a sense of dread.

“Spread the word,” the woman said. “Now that you know it, you can share it. Spread the word. Go on… go ahead.”

With a swift motion, the abbess's hands went to her face, almost clawing it off like a mask. Skin peeled off, slithering to the floor as though the abbess was really a snake shedding it’s skin only to reveal the face of someone Skyler remembered, the face of someone Skyler recognized. It was a girl, long pink hair draping over her shoulders although her face looked flooded with anger, flooded with rage. “Why Skyler!?” she screamed at him. “Why did you do that!? Why did you not…” Almost halfway through her scream of anger, the face of Jessyka was torn in through, looking as though it had been practically eaten by the dog that replaced her face as it’s deep growl took the place of Jessyka’s voice, the scream continuing although this time, Skyler had no idea where the sound was coming from.

All he heard was, “Why did you not spread the word…”

Skyler only watched as events unfolded. His hands felt like ice, his tongue freezing as his mouth was half open. "S-Senpai!" Skyler yelled as he suddenly remembered, falling to his knees. "I-I was weak I couldn't..." Skyler grasped his head, almost like he felt pain. He decided to do something foolish, so he got up and sprinted for the door, only for it to be blocked by falling rubble. Stumbling backwards, Skyler fell, looking up to see the roof completely caved in, a red sky showing.

Landing on his backside, silence consumed his mind, his thoughts, his world. Only for a moment. Then the loud bark of the dog as it jumped on top of him before it proceeded to tear out a chunk of his stomach.

The same pain Skylar felt came back, making him close his eyes in pain. Gathering his strengths, Skyler punched the dog off him, his hand going to hold his stomach. Looking down, he saw the blood pouring, as something came to his mind. "I… I am… Weak." Skyler mumbled, looking aimlessly around for the dog.

However, as the dream would tell him that his dreamself would pass out, so too would the dream collapse as everything vanished in a shroud of black.

Note: None of Jessyka's lines in this post are actually Jessyka. The nightmare created a version of her.

Alexander “Xander” Traynor and Lord Death

Collaboration With:

@DaughterofAthena

Although he had been following Aeryn at a much slower pace, Lord Death eventually made it back to the ice cream social and looked over the events that were taking place. His face scrunched in confusion when he saw Warren collapsed and lying on top of a bench, but other than that everything seemed to be in order. Several groups of students had formed, and many of the new students seemed to have managed to make some friends, which had been the goal in the first place.

Lord Death remembered, though. He remembered that he still had one more student he needed to discuss things with due to rules being broken which had lead to more than a few problems from what he understood. And it was with that thought in mind that his eyes fell onto Alexander Traynor. The boy didn’t look to be in a good mood. However, Lord Death also saw Mr. Darcy standing nearby. Sighing, Lord Death walked up to his staff member and tapped him on the shoulder, telling him, “I’ll handle this one from here.”

Xander definitely saw Lord Death coming. He even made to sweep his chocolate ice cream cone which he had splattered on the ground although his attempt only smeared more chocolate against the ground. It made it look even worse than it already had before he even tried to deal with it. Grumbling and still grumpy, Xander just crossed his arms in front of him and waited for the Grim Reaper to come to him because it was only a matter of time.

Sure enough, the Grim Reaper called, “Alexander, may I speak with you for a moment?”

Xander rolled his eyes and commented, “Am I allowed to say no?” It was a rhetorical question and Xander knew that. However, that didn’t mean he lacked an ability to display his annoyance with what he knew was coming. It was something he had been through before. Sighing without expecting an answer, Xander stood up and carefully stepped over the ice cream mess he had created earlier before he followed Lord Death.

The Shinigami lead Xander about as far away as he had lead Aeryn, the first person he had needed to converse with. It was only after stopping that he turned to face the boy in front of him. “I’ve heard some troubling things. Care to explain?”

“No,” was Xander’s immediate reply although he knew this wouldn’t be that simple.

Lord Death’s eyes narrowed at Alexander before he stated more firmly, “Explain.”

Xander sighed a bit overdramatically. “Well, I wanted to go with the task forces you sent out, but you were deliberately pairing people up so I knew it would be a bad idea to go on my own, without a weapon. And Lexie was standing RIGHT THERE! AND SHE WANTED TO GO TOO!” Xander threw his arms in front of him to add even more emphasis. “What was I supposed to do? Tell her no? I’m supposed to try being nice to her if I remember what you’ve always been telling me… she’s a girl, but you said…”

Lord Death’s eyes became glaring as Xander tried to justify what he had done when it was blatantly against the rules that had allowed for the acceptance of the twins in the first place. The Grim Reaper didn’t even need to say anything out loud. His eyes said it all.

“I’m not the only one who broke the rules, you know!” Xander spat. “Ivy punched me in the face, that new Aeryn kid…” he trailed off at the second one, realizing he had started that. “...oh yeah! He disobeyed Professor Mitsaki! Why aren’t you talking to him right now? Or Ivy? She knocked Warren out cold! Even I’m not that bad!!”

“Aeryn understands that what he did was wrong,” Lord Death replied briskly. “You, on the other hand, seem to miss the point that rules are rules.”

Xander rolled his eyes before mumbling, “What’s the punishment this time? Another day mopping the stupid floors with the stupid janitor…?” Xander kicked at the ground lazily.

Lord Death nodded. “You will work with Mr. Hotsumaru for the day tomorrow, doing whatever he requires.”

Xander nodded before he turned around and started walking away as he yelled back, “I know, I know… be here at 6 and don’t expect to get done until late. I’ve done this before if you don’t remember.”

However, Lord Death did remember. And he was beginning to think they needed a new punishment for ill behaved students.

Sprawling herself over one of the benches, Hotaru despondently licked away at her ice cream. As despondent as someone could get eating delicious neapolitan ice cream after a job well done that was. So not that despondent after all. It would probably worse if she hadn't changed into dryer clothes before coming for her well-deserved ice cream.

It was just - there just wasn't - nobody was there for her to cajole and bother! She was "an acquired taste" or something like that and no one was paying attention to her and breaking out the tricks was only fun as a distraction for what she was really doing or if people specifically came for her tricks which wasn't likely to happen in present company. She eyed the clumps of people talking and having conversations. Hotaru could totally do that. In fact, she jumped to her feet, she would.

Eyeing the people again, she realized that most of those people were ones she knew and weren't particularly fond of. No, that wouldn't do at all. She'd have to go for people on their own who wouldn't deck her which probably meant someone who never interacted with her and was socially awkward. Scanning the area, she spotted one. In the corner, short girl, shifty as hell, people watching, not eating ice cream next to her, only one person next to her. Perfect.

Skipping over, Hotaru sat down next to her. Not uncomfortably close, people liked their space, couldn't screw up friend-making with such an amateur mistake. She licked her ice cream and turned to the other girl with a grin on her face, ignoring the guy. She'd been practicing this trick for a while and now was the perfect time to test it.

"You remind me of wisterias. The flowers? But more like wisteria vines, you seem kind of droopy. But they're very pretty and they're purple, so they're like you," Wait, shit. Flirting was only done with audience volunteers, not friends. Well, nothing to do but charge on. "Let me show you what I mean!"

And then there was a wisteria bouquet in her hands. Hotaru winked at her as she held them out for the other girl to take. Damn it, she wasn't supposed to offer people stuff, some of them were touchy about being handed stuff. Looking around, she couldn't find a stray vase or something that could hold flowers. Honestly, the DWMA could be so disappointing sometimes. She just shrugged and held the flowers out.

Walking onto the scene was Thalia Travis. She hadn’t quite figured out whether or not her partner was coming yet, but one thing she did know was that she wanted ice cream and so without further delay, the weapon girl made a beeline for the ice cream. However, she also heard something that distracted her, a buzzing of some kind. Turning around, Thalia followed the sound and stumbled upon two students.

“What are you two doing all the way over here?” Thalia inquired, her eyebrows scrunching in confusion. “There is ice cream, you know… don’t you want ice cream?”

Not seeing any reason why they wouldn’t want ice cream, Thalia gestured for the two of them to follow her as she returned to her original path and finally made it to the ice cream. “Mint chocolate chip, please!” she requested and was promptly handed a cone with two scoops.

Then the girl turned and looked over the crowd of people once more. It was an ice cream social after all, so she knew she should go talk to someone or other. It was just a matter of deciding who was the most interesting. Her eyes first fell on a bundle of flowers and then on Hotaru. Although she didn’t know much about the girl, Thalia did remember that the girl was fond of magic tricks.

Hmm… surely that will be amusing to watch. And without further delay, Thalia walked over to Hotaru and asked, “Mind if I enjoy the show?”

Dakota blinked, her eyes shooting back to the overly loud male before her as he began to laugh. She wondered slightly why he was laughing, and she soon found out why.

“It’s ok! I get it! You’re just too overwhelmed to be around someone as great as me, right!?”

She stared at him in shock, though she was still freaking out. However, his attention soon shifted away as another male walked up. 'Evening Star' tried to greet him in the same way, but soon returned his attention back to Dakota. She froze, as his hand came into contact with her back, then continued to stare at him for a few seconds after he walked away.

The other male sat next to her, causing her frozen state to stop, and she turned towards him more.
'Why do people keep coming over here?!?' She mentally shouted, still panicking to no end. This student, however, didn't seem like he'd be quite as loud and obnoxious as 'Evening Star' had been.

"Do you not wish to enjoy the festivities?"

She blinked, then not wanting to embarrass herself further, she simply shook her head. She glanced away for a second, to see 'Evening Star' had been knocked out by someone.
'At least... He's not going to come back over here anytime soon...' She relaxed only slightly at the thought, though not nearly enough to stop her slight shaking. Someone was still trying to interact with her, after all.

"Is something the matter, miss?"

The boy spoke again, startling her back into looking at him. Dakota started to shake her head again, but stopped and returned her head to it's original position.
'Say something!' She stayed silent for a few seconds, trying to put a decent reply together in her current state.

"I-I ... N-no...Y-Yes... I d-don't k-k-know." She replied, again stumbling over her words. Then, she stopped, taking a breath and calming a bit. She said nothing past that, still trying to calm down enough to speak normally.

Alessandra and Jayce

All she could focus on at the moment was that she was shaking. Hugging her arms tighter around her midsection, Alessandra didn’t even realize that Jayce was not beside her. Head hanging and stray red hairs covering the sides of her face, the young girl followed the group by sound and the occasional glimpse of a foot when changing direction. She was cold. So cold.

”Alessandra.”

Freezing at the sound of her name, she stiffened, not bothering to lift her head. The thought of being reprimanded caused her to flinch, even more so as cool fingers pressed against the bottom of her chin, lifting her face.

”Y-yes?” she murmured, looking up at the crouched form of Professor Miyako. A quick glance behind the other redhead told her that they’d reached the school and were standing in front of the steps.

”Why don’t you come with me before joining the other students? I’ll take you back to your room, you can change and gather yourself.” she suggested. ”You’re a new student and this was the first type of assignment you’ve been on, so soon after finally finding a weapon partner. It’s okay that you became so afraid.” she continued, trying to soothe the younger girl.

”B-but, this is going to become something nor-”

”While that’s somewhat true, I didn’t say that you would never get over this fear. But what happened today was not something that someone so new would actually be exposed to.” Miyako told her, standing up straight. ”Now come on. Let’s go get you cleaned up a bit, then get some sugar in you.”

Alessa nodded after a moment’s hesitation. As her teacher started up the stairs, she hurried after the older woman, with a quick glance around the area, wondering where her classmates had gone.

”Do you feel better now?” Miyako asked, glancing down at the small girl beside her.

”Y-yes...th-thank you M-miss Miyako…” Alessa murmured, flushing slightly at the bright smile her teacher sent her.

”You’re very welcome, sweetie. Now, go find Jayce and eat some ice cream. I’m going to go find my own weapon partner. Have fun.”

”O-okay,” she replied, watching the woman walk off. Biting her lip, she looked around the room, trying to find her brown-haired partner.

Jayce actually managed to spot her first, however, and the boy sprung out of his seat and walked over to her. Actually, it was more of a skip. There was a gentle sort of bounce to it that displayed he was happy that Alessa was able to make it although he didn’t charge all the way to her. He managed to stop and contain himself, walking the rest of the distance. “Hi Alessa,” he muttered softly, unsure as to whether or not she was doing ok after having completed the mission. “Would you like to go get some ice cream?”

Brightening slightly as she saw her friend, she offered a tentative smile, trying to think as Professor Miyako had, regarding her situation. ”H-hi…!” she replied. ”U-um, sure...W-what flavors are there?” she asked.

Jayce smiled in return and glanced over to the table with the ice cream, standing on his toes to see if he could see what was left. “I don’t know for sure, but I had a delicious cookie dough cone,” he replied to her. “Shall we go see what’s available?”

Her smile brightening, she nodded. ”Sure!” she said, starting towards the table Jayce had turned to look at. She wondered if she’d be able to make some more friends at this gathering. It was the first one she’d seen the school have since she arrived, and after everything that had recently happened, she figured trying to make a few new friends definitely wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

Stopping at the table, she looked at the different flavors offered, grinning happily upon spotting her favorite. ”Pistachio!” she squealed softly in happiness. Quickly grabbing a cone, she started to scoop the ice cream, happily making a tower of green.

“So…” Jayce watched as she happily made her ice cream cone before he asked, “What did you wanna do now?” He glanced at the different groups that had begun forming. Some of them he preferred to avoid if at all possible, but he wanted to leave it up to Alessa because she still had a lot of new people to meet.

Glancing up from her newly made cone, she flushed slightly, seeing how much she’d stacked on. With a sheepish smile she turned back to her partner and glanced around. ”Um...is there anyone you know that we can talk to…?” she asked. ”It’s kind of awkward to always stand alone off to the side…”

“I know the feeling,” Jayce sighed as his eyes scanned over the crowds. They couldn’t go anywhere near Ivy… that just screamed trouble. His eyes briefly fell on Undine and her partner, although he shuddered at the conversation he had with her earlier. “Umm…” he muttered, “it honestly doesn’t really matter to me but there are some people I’d rather avoid.” His eyes fell more to Ivy with that statement than to anyone else.

”Okay, then we’ll avoid them.” she responded, glancing at the green-haired girl he seemed to be emphasizing on. Continuing her perusal of the occupants in the room, she saw two others standing alone, a pink-haired girl and a blue-haired boy. ”How about them?” she asked, pointing to the two.

Jayce’s eyes followed her hand to the two students in question and his eyes first fell to Aiko. She wasn’t a new student so she might cause some trouble, but it was an ice cream social so he didn’t think anyone would be looking to yell at him. “Sure,” he shrugged before he started walking over to the two of them.

Following him, Alessa busied herself with her ice cream, trying to think of a polite way to introduce herself. She didn’t want to be a bother! She hoped she wouldn’t be interrupting them by having Jayce take her to them. Looking up, she forced herself to take a deep breath to try and calm down, taking a small step closer to Jayce in the process.

”U-um...hello…!” she squeaked, greeting the two.

Aiko blinked, watching his blush. She smirked a bit, finding his reaction quite entertaining, more then she ever thought it could be. She tilted her head to the side, relaxing back a little bit. She perked her eye brow, staring at him. She tapped her finger on her chin as if in thought, not certain what she should do at first. He seemed quite timid, almost as if he was about to just implode on himself at the very fact he was being confronted. It wasn't very common to see someone give such a reaction after purposely venturing up to talk to someone.

"...Ikeda Matsumoto..." She softly repeated in a more hushed tone as she looked at him, allowing him the chance to speak up as she looked to be taken his name in. In a way it added to her little game she liked to play.

She heard his eventual reply as he seemed to take up her accusation of flirting as being true. She let out a light laugh, reaching up forward. She pat her hand on his head. "Very cute! Keep it up and you might get a beautiful girl like me to be yours. I'm more then open to any compliments or praise you might like to throw at me." She spoke removing her hand. She shifted back staring at the boy. "You gotta do a lot to win me, so many want me after all seeing how amazing I am." She spoke with a playful wink towards him.

She blinked as she heard a rather soft voice, turning her head to look over. She looked at Alessa as she seemed to cower away a bit as she spoke. She looked over at her and then at Ikeda. An almost wicked grin came upon her lips. She had a little habbit of causing some trouble for fun. She took the boy's arm, tugging it close. "Ah... sorry miss, this one is mine... right my lil sugar plum?" She spoke holding his arm rubbing her face against his shoulder. She couldn't help but see how both of them would react.
