“You were trying to figure out a spell that could diminish the volume of a monster roaring you say? Odd choice of location you decided to take,it you ask me.”

Cheng commented as he,Sidney,Amelia and Ryutaro heard Lorna's "explanation". Xenon on the other hand was sitting by the edge of the Safe Haven with a communicator on hand (Sidney gave everyone in the group one just in case) as he tried to contact Rachelle.

"I thought I was far away enough from the village. Turns out it a lot louder than I have expected. Regardless, I hope this should clear something up." Lorna said. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure it would be." Ryutaro replied "But hey, welcome to the club. We definitely needed another magic user. Most of us here are physical attackers and tech fighters. It's too bad one of us have left for something personal." Meanwhile, as Xenon contacted Rachelle, there was no response.​

She isn't receiving....maybe I should try again. If it doesn't work again I guess I'll just do it tomorrow.

Xenon thought as he tried to contact Rachelle one last time.

Sighing,he kept the device away and laid down onto the rune-scribbled ground,staring up at the starry void and the cresent moon that lit up the night sky.

“.....I really forgot how relaxing it is to stare up and do nothing.”

"Hey Xenon!" Ryutaro called as he approaches him "Any luck? She must be devastated at this point."​

“No luck.” Xenon responded, “She's not answering. I'll try again tomorrow when it's morning or afternoon.”

"Hey, have you noticed something?" Ryutaro asked "These past few days, we've been going through quests and gaining new allies? It feels like fate has a plan or something. I don't know to you, but that's just my hutch."​

“Whatever the case,I just hope the guy to girl ratio doesn't decrease.”

Xenon spoke as he sat up.

“I'm...definitely not looking forward to seeing the three of us (Cheng,Ryutaro and Xenon) surrounded by a band of girls.”

"To be honest with you, I wouldn't mind being surrounded by girls. In fact, personally, gender is not an issue. I'm thinking of "quality", you get what I mean? Like "quality over quantity". I mean, what do we have? A magic knight (Xenon), a team mom (Rachelle), a little girl (Ruri), an inventor (Cheng), an artificial human bruiser (Amelia), an airship pilot and archeologist (Sidney), and now we have a mage (Lorna) in this group. I'm talking about having allies with different specialities, skills, and mindsets." Ryutaro says.​

“Don't forget the martial artist with unconventional weaponry too. In other words you.”

Xenon added,throwing a light metaphorical jab at Ryutaro with a smile.

“Still. You're right. When I think about it though,I think we have you to thank for us unintentionally increasing our member count.”

"Well you can say that again. But still, quality over quantity. I'm not thinking of an army, I'm thinking of a party. Get it?" Ryutaro asked, appreciated the rather rough but affectionate gesture coming from Xenon.​

“Yeah.” Xenon nodded. “Come to think of it....with our numbers and the specialisation each of us has...I think we should be able to take on the quest with the undead infestation in the village. Well,if someone else hasn't taken it yet that is.”

"Probably someone just took care of that." Ryutaro said.​

“Guess we'll see when we get back to Altissia to report the completed quests.”

Once again,the group were now looking at the notice board in search of quests in Altissia. Xenon was the one making the report like before,although this time Ruri was beside him so that he didn't have to feel lonely by himself.

Sure enough,the undead quest was indeed nowhere to be found. Cheng had eyes on a particular quest that seemed to involve retrieving a lost crate containing some dried vegetables for a store owner in Lestallum's market.

“Hmm....come to think of it,there's something I needed to check in Lestallum,especially since I still have the metal we got during our trip in the mines with me.”

"Are you thinking of making a weapon? Give Amelia an upgrade? Anything?" Ryutaro asked. "...U-Upgrade..." Amelia muttered.​

“Well,you could say that regarding the upgrade for Amelia. She certainly could use the "form-shifting" metal to its full potential. That,and I have an old teacher I'd like to pay a visit after a long time. Lestallum's known for its massive diversity of food ingredients available,as well as meals,so it'd be a nice stop there after retrieving the crate.”

Cheng explained.

"Foods huh? Man, if Rachelle is still with us, she'll be in there going shopping." Ryutaro said "Come to think of it, I do miss her cooking. Too bad none of us is on the same cooking level as hers."​

“It certainly has been a while since Xen's himself cooked. I'm glad his meals are still delicious enough to suffice.” Cheng commented before unpinning the quest for the crate, “I say,Rachelle's cooking certainly spoiled us there.”

"Say, since we're riding in an airship anyway, do you think we should take another?" Ryutaro suggests.​

“Well,our faster transportation means it is possible for us to take more than three now. Although....we still should consider getting a normal on-land vehicle, especially for getting into cities that are a few distance from the safe landing area,like Lestallum for instance which is pretty much by the cliff and the only road to safely enter there via two bridges connected to it.”

Cheng explained while looking back at the notice board.

“What's this now...?”

His eyes were set on a particular assignment,requesting a band of adventurers to go investigate the Vesperpool due to witness describing a group of robed men vaguely mentioning of "summoning a powerful being to aid them in salvation.". Cheng's look of utter disdain says it all.

“Oh those bloody idiots (he was referring to the robed men)...worse of all this is talking about investigating entire region of swamp where there's a forest which we can't get into safely with Sidney's airship and another which is a ruins that opens only during the night and has demons in it too.”

"Ruins you say? That to me sounds like a training ground." Ryutaro said with a smug grin "You know, I would be more than happy to whack my guns on those cultists' heads. They'll never see it coming."​

“Well,if it is fine with the rest than we'll be taking it too.”

Cheng answered before unpinning the second quest.

“Although we may have to investigate the deep woods in Vesperpool first to see if the cult is hidden somewhere there. If there aren't then we'll have to save the quest for last and check back in the Vesperpool when it's nearly nighttime. As I've mentioned,the ruins opens its doors only when the sun sets. That aside,let's see....what else do we have here...?”
