"I only got a message from her saying that she'll be staying back home. What is that you want to know from her?" Michelle asked, raising a brow.

....So the revelation struck her way too bad didn't it...?

“...nothing. If it isn't much, can you tell her my party just completed a quest involving the roarings outside of Saffreon during the night and got ourselves a new member as a result? She...she was part of my group before she decided to withdraw.”

As Michelle watch Xenon leave, she thought "So my sister is a part of Xenon's party. Hmm...maybe..."

--------------------------------------------------
“Well....that was quite the twist.”

Cheng commented as Xenon turned explained to everyone present in the airship regarding what Michelle had told him.

"Tell me about that. Not to mention that she had no idea what Rachelle really is." Ryutaro said.

“Yeah.....I wonder what would've happened if she had known too.”

“Papa. We're here.”

Ruri spoke to Xenon. The group decided to stop at Vesperpool in the region "Cleigne" to investigate the "Myrlwood". It is a forest said to have a Treant waiting at the end of the road.

“I sure hope these cultist has yet to start on the summoning ritual there....either that or the Mandrake,Mushussu,Glamhoth or better, the Treant itself finished them off. I doubt they could last an hour in the Steyliff Grove, especially in light of that ruins' rather distorted time loop aftermaths.”

“I think that's some wishful thinking there...although I'm sure either the Lich or Crème Brulé took them down first during the night.”

"I see that you have a better knowledge in those creatures." Lorna spoke "Tell me Cheng, do you make frequent visits to the Ancient Archives?"

“Sometimes. Because I don't think I necessarily know majority of the contents of the Archive. Some of my knowledge came from mere experiences with the beasts and locations.”

Cheng explained.

“I remember when you wet your pants seeing the Malbodoom when we were helping your teacher get a material he needed to forge a polearm.”

Xenon brought up,much to the party's inventor's utter dismay.

“Oh no...don't even remind me....well,at least sitting in this airship's lowered the chances of us running into a malboro or cockatrice. Although luckily the latter isn't too hard to deal with now.”

"Hmm...I should go visit there sometime. The last that I've been there I was conducting research on the history of the world, and that was for my thesis." Lorna said.

“Well,I wouldn't mind going there either soon. But first,we have a little investigation to do.”

(Don't mind Noct.)

The group were now in the Myrlwood, where the sun has been mostly obscured by the trees all over the area. It is perhaps telling that this is one of the places where demons would spawn earlier due to it being quite dark enough during the evening for them to pop out from the underworld.

“Weird....I don't remember there being two seperate paths we could take in the forest.”

“Well, not like we're in a horror movie during the night. Perhaps splitting off into two groups can be a feasible choice at this time of the hour.”

"Alright, so for this kind of matter, I would suggest having one team be made up of Xenon, Ruri, Sidney, and me, while the other being Cheng, Amelia, and Lorna. How's that sound?" Ryutaro suggested. "Sounds fine to me. Pretty balanced I should say." Sidney said, followed by a nod from Amelia and Lorna saying "I do agree in this formation."

“Sounds good enough. Well then,I suppose we'll see you four at the end then?”

Cheng spoke as the group of three took the right path.

“Guess that leaves the left path. Let's go.”

As the group on the left continued walking,Xenon had his eyes on the puddles visible on the slightly soggy ground they were all treading on (it wasn't too muddy or deep as the ground is mostly dried up on the left path).

“Hmm....say,Ruri,you're able to release a icy breath as a half-frost dragon,right?”

She nodded.

“We...might need you to do that again later on if it is possible for you.”

"Are you saying there is going to be mud? I don't want to get my feet dirty again like what happened in Alta." Ryutaro complained, only for Sidney to say "But you're wearing sandals. You can easily wash them off after." Ryutaro lets out a disappointing sigh.

“Well,we in a swamp,so it's to be expected. Plus,I think the guys on the right had it worse, since there's probably no direct sunlight to dry up the ground they're walking on.”

--------------------------------------------------
Lorna's boots were now knee deep and stuck in a mud trench in her attempt to cross a narrow quagmire in other to get to the other side of the (mostly) dry ground. Behind her was Amelia and Cheng (both of them did not cross the mud-river),the latter of whom felt a bead of sweat roll down his cheek as he nervously looked at the trapped-mage (who did not look troubled to say the least and was just simply looking down at her boots wedged in the mud in fascination).

“I did warn you we would've fared better if we had made a bridge instead....”

“Well,I suppose I could just go cut that tree over there for a makeshift bridge or something.”

Cheng spoke as he made his way to the nearest tree.

“Maybe I should've made a foldable bridge earlier.”

"Not to worry about that." Lorna said before spin her staff and yell "Float!" In an instant, a magical force gets her off the mud. "Now then, what is this about a bridge?" She asked.

“.....”

Cheng's loss of words perhaps says it all.

“Magic.....a terrifying force of nature indeed it is....”

Slicing the last of the Mandrakes that tried to attack them,Xenon let off a sigh of relief and sheathed the Artic Rose.

“Great job on freezing their mouths there Ruri.”

"Yeah, if you didn't then we would be bleeding our ears out when they scream." Ryutaro said.

“Good thing the Mushussu-s didn't show up in huge herds though (at least for now). We barely just avoided getting poisoned by the spikes in front of them.”

Xenon commented as he gave Ruri an affectionate headpat. Looking ahead of him, there's a lake in front of the group and a path on the right that continues on ahead.

“Whoever angler it is who actually went through the effort of building a fishing spot here, they sure do have guts coming here to brave the monsters roaming around.”
