Just getting it all set up. I think Teh Frixz Teh Frixz will roll as well and I’ll include it.
This isn't an immediate priority, since Rykon Rykon is going to move before me, but what range are Toun and the river goddess at from the west bank? I'm assuming the bridge is around a mile long (the width of the river), but I don't recall where upon it those two were positioned?

You might want to include the full QC block for the enemy, or at least most of it, so people can adjudicate their own hits/damage/etc without having to wait for replies from you. If they know the enemy has DV 4, soak 6, and no DV or soak boosting Charms, they can just roll right through a turn in one post.

Do this before you answer my question, if you like.

Yes, right. But she’s closest to the west bank where you all are. So, she’s at short range to the west bank. It’s the others burning bodies on the east bank that are farthest and I didn’t denote. I‘ll try to notate range somehow...

Cool beans. Also! Afureru should be on the bridge.

Now! What is the rule again on adding dice to roll? I think Excellencies count as Charm dice. So what would be the max I could add?

As for her resolve. Is 7 her natural or adjusted resolve? In that would it matter in adding dice via Af's high appearance.

The most that a Solar can add to a roll is to be able to double your Attribute + Ability score. Lunars cap out at just Attribute.

You can see her base Resolve is 4 in the QC stats. You can't apply the Appearance bonus to Threaten unless you have the Hideous Merit (Lunars can blink Hideous on and off for free with one of their Appearance Charms). The Appearance bonus applies to Instill and Persuade only, unless a Charm or ability says otherwise. There's another Lunar Appearance Charm that lets you apply your Appearance bonus to basically all social influence.

Weirdly, this means it does apply to Instill Fear, but not to Threaten.

Alright! Apologies here, still new but what do I roll for join battle? Can I stunt my way in to gain some dice?

You can definitely stunt. You're rolling Wits + Awareness, and adding 3 to the result. Any applicable Charms can be used to modify your Join Battle.

Okay! So 5 dice base, I’d say 1 for the stunt and since she’s performing on the impromptu pole, I’ll apply the masterful performance exercise charm.
Alas, even if you give a song and dance when rolling Join Battle, it is an Awareness roll, and thus cannot be modified by Performance Charms unless they say otherwise. Unless otherwise stated, Charms can only ever modify rolls using their own ability.

A Minor Stunt is two dice, so the first 7 dice of the roll count. You scored two hits on the first 7 dice, plus the base 3, gives you a total of 5 initiative.

Oh well! I got a charm that lets me reroll 3 failures so it works out either way.

Also! Does a specialty count towards the dice added or the cap?

Eg. Assuming 5/5 in stats.

1. Would a specialty make the cap 11 instead of 10 in the amount of dice that can be added?

2. Would the specialty count as just a non charm die since its... not a charm.

3. Would it count as added die?

Specialties do not increase the Solar Charm dice cap (It's Ability + Attribute. DBs are Ability + Specialty. Lunars are Attribute + Other Attribute. etc), nor do they count towards it. It is part of your pool. It is not dice added by a Charm.

You all can take an aim bonus for your actions because D. Rex D. Rex made it hesitate and change forms.

Edit: typos. *sigh* Always typos.

Quick check, but if I want to move into close range of an opponent and then attack said an opponent, do I need to do a flurry for that?

The hardness doesn't prevent the spirit from taking damage so long as your damage pool (really just your initiative in most cases) exceeds the hardness value. You dealt 5 Lethal. In addition to that, hardness doesn't protect characters while crashed.

I'll add that Toun will be livid if others deal a killing blow and damn a contaminated spirit to endless death. He fully intends to permanently destroy it if only to purge the corruption.

Thanks for the correction. Wouldn't that be Bashing damage though, seeing as that's the kind of damage a Dire Chain does?

Ah, of course. For some reason, my mental image was a bladed chain. The old noggin still plays tricks on me from time to time.

Heh. I'm hardly one to talk with regards to the ol' noggin.

Personally, I was visualizing the weapon as something akin to the morningstar whip from the Castlevania anime, at least in how it's wielded.

If I recall correctly. I think the exact form a weapon takes doesn't matter so much. So long as the mechanics best fit the form you desire. Just as I got a pass for my Dire Lance being more of halberd than an actual Lance or spear. And even then, the biggest mechanic difference between types of weapons is just the tags. Lances and battleaxes are both heavy two handed weapons with same stats, but their tags lets you do different things with them.

Though to that end, perhaps a halberd would have gone more in line with a grimcleaver or grimscythe.

Anyway! I would think whips fall in line easily with the dire chain category. Maybe light for something thing and nimble like a whip, or heavy for massive weapon like an anchor on a chain (which im going to use next time cause that sounds dope)
