Just cause I read worse don't mean it ain't cursed
This is objectively hilarious tbh. If he played more than one game with them, Arii would probably decide he's an easy mark and milk him for all he's worth. Might also follow him around trying to determine what someone with no gambling sense is doing up against themShooting my shot with some random plot musings before bed
Feel free to completely turn me down. Just some ideas. Not super attached to any!
Gold.
I already told you about my plot for Ryker in Discord! But for Keegan? Maybe Vegas stopped Keean on his first day in the region and quizzed him about the various features. Kind of prodding at Keegan with basic questions: “What’s the best place to get a bite?”, “Is there a rare Pokemon I should look at for?”
Innocuous at first, but eventually leading to:
“What is the crime like in this city?”
Keegan feels like something is off at this point. Then, Vegas goes full mask off and hits him with:
“What was Ryker like in his past?” The kind of question that implies that Vegas knew who Keegan was beforehand, and is not just a clueless tourist. Almost stalker-like.

Vegas has a funny habit of looking at other people from the perspective of what kind of story they can tell. And I think that Ione's optimism will be something that is enticing for Vegas–just not in the way you think. There is a story to be told in the felling of a hero. That is, the enjoyment derived from charting their claim to success … only to watch their subsequent fall.
I think it could be interesting if Vegas had been helping Ione out, in getting more “exposure,” in her art, if that is something she would be interested in. Perhaps he diverged from his roots and wrote a piece concerning a “Rising Artist,” featuring her. Of course, he’s already thinking about how he can tear those wings off as he writes it–to get the real story he is after. Essentially wants to destroy her optimism by slowly eroding her reputation thereafter. Kind of a long-term, somewhat angsty plot?

I was hoping that there would be an Idol or celebrity. I like to think that Vegas is often commissioned to write for some big, national, sensationalist news outlet akin to the Daily Mail. Perhaps his writing is what got poor Estella in trouble. If that is the case, I could see how in the original piece that got Estella in trouble, Vegas was responsible for “stretching,” the truth of her little altercation. Perhaps conveniently forgoing the fact that the fan Mimikyu attacked provoked them. And then making the wounds out to be much more severe than they truly were? In the original article, I imagine he tossed around the words, “maiming,” and “disfigured.” That he just made the attack seem like it was absolutely brutal and senseless. Perhaps Vegas was even the one to push the idea that it is morally correct to abandon her Mimikyu?

Both of our characters are from Sinnoh, but I struggle to form a connection. It could be cool if they set sail on the same ship/plane together. To clarify, I mean they happened to use the same means of public transportation in their travel from Sinnoh → Orre. Vegas is a yapper and pretty well-versed in small talk, but I think Kira’s humble background might give her the ability to see through some of his pompous nonsense. I imagine her nodding her head as he prattles on about some BS she does not care about while she is stuck in a plane sitting next to him lmao.

HMMMM. I think it would be very cool if Vegas had an outfit that was designed by Choei. Something formal that he can wear to big events. He would have trusted Choei’s creative vision–despite being a pain, he does have some respect for other creatives. At least as it pertains to the talents he lacks.

It would be funny if Arii had robbed or cheated Vegas somehow in the past lmao. Maybe he was trying to report on some seedy gambling spot and ran into Arii by a stroke of misfortune. I find it ironic as his name is “Vegas,” but he ain’t much of a gambler. I don’t think Vegas would have even noticed if Arii decided to cheat him somehow. I think he’d only be playing to gain information anyway–he wouldn’t be too caught up in actually winning any amount of cash. I don’t think he would regard Arii for more than how they look–some kid fleecing victims where they ought not to be. His focus would be more on the setting, than the people.
