Fantasy Shades of Arrows

Mikkelle Sting

One Thousand Club
Artemis is an arrogant and prideful goddess who cares for nothing but archery and moonlit nights. In modern times this stubborn redhead has been sought out by many, but still she cares nothing for them. When she meets a human archer like herself, she struggles to understand what it is she's feeling after many years of hardly even glancing at a boy.

Erath stood, looking at the red and white target in the distance, it was atleast a good one hundred metres away. He held his beautifully carved bow in his right hand, he had won it in his first tournament. It was his most prized possession. The target he was looking at 100 metres away already had an arrow in it, which had hit right in the middle and been short by Erath himself.

He pulled a blind fold out of his pocket and quickly wrapped it around his eyes, obscurring his vision. He spent most of his time practising and hunting with is bow, which made him quite confident. He was the only person (that he knew of) in the or close to the Archery field, and thats they way he liked it, He didnt like people appluading him for his amazing and undeniable skill and talent, He didnt do it for that.

Erath raised his bow, Pulling and arrow out of his quiver that was slung around his shoulder and placing it on the bow string. He steadied his bow for a second, raised on an angle that pointed towards the sky. He held it for a few more second before letting go, The arrow flew into the sky. After a few more seconds it hit the target, splitting the arrow that was already stuck in the target perfectly.

((sorry, im writing badly today :( ))

Artemis was shooting at her target a short distance away splitting arrow after arrow at surprising speed. Finally she slung her large and hand-crafted bow over her shoulder and sat in a tree near where she was practicing, taking down her short hair from the ponytail it was in. She heard the sound of the wind whistling and looked down in fascination to see a male archer shooting just a ways from where she always practiced.

Erath took his blind fold off, seeing that he had hit the target, He had done it countless time from this distance before but never with a blindfold. He bowed to the air, not noticing the girl who was watching him from a tree. At this rate he would have to buy more arrows if he continued splitting them. He pulled two more arrows out of his quiver, setting them on his bow string, even for Erath this would be a challenge, it was extremely hard to shoot two arrows at once accurately. He steadied his bow once again, raisng it towards the sky before quickly letting the string go sending the arrows shooting through the air, one of them split the arrow he had just shot, the other landing just outside the bullseye, he cursed silently to himself kicking the dirt.

Artemis smirked when she saw him bow and then later kicked the dirt. This is certainly interesting. she thought as she jumped down from the tree landing perfectly on her feet. Quietly she walked over to him and gestured to his target. "May I?" she asked not bothering to introduce herself or tell him anything about her. She preferred meetings to be unprepared.

Erath was caught by surprise when the girl spoke. He spun around to face her, she was rather attractive. He looked around at the other targets as she asked him if she could shoot at his own Why doesnt she pick another target? He thought himself. "uh sure" He mumbled looking at the ground, He wasnt exactly social, especially with girls.

Artemis picked an arrow and adjusted it in her bow. She looked carefully at the target, calculating. Then then let the arrow go and it barely nicked right next to her eye. She opened her eyes and grinned in satisfaction when she heard the sound of her arrow splitting his. Then she turned to him. "Work on your angle more. And don't go too fast. One arrow at a time is good when your using a target." she said as she started to pack up her bow and arrows.

Erath watched as her arrow split his own, she was good. "Uh, thanks" Erath replied awkwardly, he was extremely good with one arrow, it was only when he tried two arrows that he struggled. He watched as she picked up her arrows, was she leaving? "So, how long have you been doing this?" He gestured to the targets across the field. He didnt know why, but he didnt want her to leave.

Artemis looked up at him. "Feels like I've been doing it for forever." she said casually. "I've been into archery since I was a kid. It was a little hard at first, but you could say it's in my blood so, yeah." she explained, not going into great detail, but just enough.
